Cody and Gwen
By Bill Gelinas
Chapter 2: The Marriage
It had been a long two weeks and Cody and I spent all of it together. We were in my room packing my things, because Cody had nothing to pack. He looked so adorable in nothing but his shorts. His hair was so cute hanging in his face the way it did. Several times, I tried combing back for him, but it never stayed that way. He was unbelievable, he was strong, good looking, and mature, but in a cute sort of way. Him trying to pack my things with me was pretty funny, because I asked him to pack my undergarments. Every time he picked a pair of my undies up, he'd fire it at me like it was a sling shot. He'd laugh so hard that he'd fall over. When he finished laughing for the umpteenth time he said something to me.
"Come again?" I asked.
"That was pretty funny." He repeated to me. He thought it was funny every time I got hit in the face with my undies. I tackled him and he fell over out of surprise. I was on top of him.
"If your not careful, I'll have to do something about your fooling around." I said teasingly to him.
"Like?" He asked calling me out.
"Like this." I said pinning his arms down and kissing him. He sat up with me in his lap, kissing back. When we broke apart I was sad, because who knew when I'd feel his lips again. We heard a knock at my door. I got up to get it: it was Duncan. He and Cody became best friends throughout the couple weeks that we'd been here.
"Hey Gwen, Cody here, he and I have plans to hang out for a bit before we leave." He said.
"Yeah, he's here. Hey Cody, it's Duncan." I said. I heard a noise and then something fell. Turned to see what had happened, Cody had tried to get up and fell onto my bed. He was still just as clumsy at times.
"Sweet, hey Gwen, Duncan and I are gonna go into to the city for a bit, so we'll meet you and Courtney at the airport, OK?" He said. Hearing this made me sad. He saw the look I gave him, walked up to me and picked me up so that I was level with him.
"Gwen, I promise you that we'll meet you and Courtney at the airport, OK." he said.
"OK." I pouted sticking my lower lip out. He always begged me to put my lip away but this time he kissed me, even with my lip sticking out. I kissed back without meaning to. When we broke I stopped pouting.
"Just make sure your not late." I said.
"OK." He said. With that said, he and Duncan left. I finished packing my things in peace. It was too quiet without Cody around, he had become the life of the party. Now that he and Duncan were in the city, everybody didn't even want to say goodbye to each other, Courtney walked up to me.
"Are you ready to leave? Duncan said that he and Cody were going to meet us at the air port." She said to me. I was ready to leave but I was worried about Duncan and Cody.
"Yeah, let's go." I said glumly. She knew that I was sad, but she couldn't think of anything to say that would make me feel better, because she felt the same way. She and Duncan lived nowhere near each other just as Cody and I lived nowhere near each other.
"Look Gwen, it's not as bad as it seems. Really." I didn't seem happier "Listen, you can still talk to him over the phone or over the internet." she finished.
"I know, but I didn't want these past two weeks to end." I said. She understood that, because she stayed quiet as we walked to the taxis and the entire time that we were in the car. When we got to the air port, we found that Duncan and Cody were already there. They stood waiting for us at the entrance of the air port. They opened our doors for us and helped us get our stuff out of the trunk of the car. They even carried it into the air port for us. They were being nice, too nice for that matter. I had to do something.
"Why are you guys being so nice to us?" I asked annoyed with their performance. Duncan walked up to Courtney as Cody walked up to me.
"Close your eyes Courtney." Duncan said, it wasn't a question.
"You too Gwen." Cody said. I felt something metallic go around my neck and latch behind it. Courtney squealed.
"Duncan, you shouldn't have, it's beautiful" "She said.
"You can open your eyes now, Gwen." I heard Cody say. I opened my eyes and looked down. It was the most beautiful locket I have seen. It must have cost Cody a fortune.
"I... but how..." I tried saying, my words were lost when Cody pulled me up close and kissed me. I closed my eyes and wished that this moment would last forever. When we broke lips, I turned to see what Duncan had gotten for Courtney. I saw no necklace, but she was staring at her hand. Had Duncan done what I think he did. Duncan was slightly red, oh my god, he did. He and Courtney were getting married. I looked at Cody and saw something in his left ear.
"Cody, you got your ear pierced." I nearly shouted. I looked at Duncan, he had an exact match in his other ear. They probably did that so that they would never forget their friendship. They were both smiling.
"Yeah, I thought it would look nice." He said grinning from ear to ear.
"It does, it makes you look like a bad boy." I said teasingly. He looked down at the ground, but looked back up at me and pulled me into a hug. I put my hands on his chest and rested my head on them. Courtney kissed Duncan, changed his ticket and got him ready for a first class flight back to her place to tell everyone. I looked up at Cody, he looked down at me. We looked into each others eyes. He wanted to tell me something, but decided against it.
"Open your locket." He said. That was all he could say, but nonetheless, I did what he asked me to do. There was a picture of the two of us in each others arms looking so happy. I felt tears well up in my eyes, Cody saw this and pulled me into himself for a hug, I didn't want to let go, I was going to be selfish. There was no way I could replace him after this. He just sealed his fate with me. He didn't know it yet and I wasn't about to tell him unless I got him to tell me what was on his mind.
"Cody, you looked like you wanted to tell me something, what was it?" I asked. He sucked at lying so I'd be able to tell if he was.
"Nothing, it was nothing." He said. Wow I can't even tell that there was a trace of a lie, but what he did next, I wasn't prepared for. He got down on one knee and pulled a little black box out of his pocket. My breathing got a little louder and harsher as I realized what he was doing. He was getting ready to propose to me. The traditional way.
"Gwen, will you marry me?" he asked me with true meaning. I didn't know what to say. I've known him for a few years, but he and I have been dating for only two weeks and he was already proposing. Then again when you love someone, there is no set of rules that you have to follow. Everybody else walked in and saw him kneeling like that, their jaws dropped. I still hadn't said anything.
"I knew this was a bad idea." Cody said, and started standing up. It was now or never for me.
"YES!" I shouted. He jerked his head up at me when I shouted it. I froze again. He took my hand and placed the onyx stoned black ring on my left ring finger. I looked at my slightly shaking hand. I exploded.
"Oh Cody, it's beautiful!" I shouted with joy, wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing him. Duncan looked proudly at Cody.
"Looks like Courtney and I aren't the only ones who know." He said, waving to the others. Their looks of surprise was gone. How long had they known. Leshawna seeing my look of confusion answered my thought.
"Girl, we've known the whole time, we just thought that he would have done it before we arrived. He told Duncan to spread the word and to make sure that it didn't get back to you." She said excitedly.
"I helped pick out your ring." came a very familiar voice. Oh no, why did she have to come here and ruin this.
"Hey Sierra. Gwen, I went to the police station on Wednesday and spoke with Sierra. She told me that I long as I was happy, she would be too. I asked her if she wanted to help me pick out a ring for you. I asked Duncan too. That's why we left when we did, we needed to pick Sierra up from the police station." He said. Sierra looked like she wanted to say something to me.
"What's wrong Sierra?" I asked.
"I just wanted to apologize for everything I've done to try and sabotage yours and Cody's relationship." She said looking down.
"That's OK, Sierra. Do you want to be one of the bridesmaids?" I asked. Cody looked astonished that I had asked her this. She squealed.
"Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!" She screamed. Well that was taken care of, I successfully managed to clear the air between us, Cody realized this and smiled. I looked at Leshawna and she nodded. I smiled. Then I looked at Courtney and she nodded as well. I had my three bridesmaids. Cody looked at Duncan and he nodded once, Cody smiled and nodded back.
"Alejandro, Owen, would you two care to be the witnesses at the wedding?" he asked.
"Of course, amigo." Alejandro said.
"Alright!" Owen shouted.
"Well, that's taken care of." Cody said.
"Not entirely." Duncan said
"Cody, would you be my best man?" He asked. Cody smiled and nodded his head.
"OK. Tyler, Geoff, would you two be the-" He began.
"HELL YEAH!" they both shouted at once.
"Gwen?" Courtney asked. I nodded.
"As long as I don't have to wear pink, I'll do it." I said.
"OK. Lindsay, Bridgette?" She asked.
"Yes, definitely." Bridgette said.
"Sounds like fun, yes." Lindsay said.
"Oh, I almost forgot, your all invited to our weddings." Cody said putting his arm around me, I blushed. The thought of wearing white was crossing my mind. Everybody was cheering and yelling and they were back to themselves again, thanks to Cody. He really was the life of a party, just like Geoff. He may have even beat Geoff. I leaned into him and put my head on his chest. We only had a few more minutes together. He looked down at me and smiled as though he had predicted what I was thinking.
"Here." He said holding a slip of paper out to me. I took it and read it, it was a plane ticket for where he lived.
"But... how and … why?" I asked.
"I thought it would be good for you to meet the folks." He answered, he cared that much about me. After all, he did have a million dollars, but that wasn't why I loved him. It was just his general appearance and maturity. He was funny when he wanted to be, but he never did anything like this for us. I couldn't hide the tears as they fell. Cody wrapped his arms around me and held me like this.
"I... I... thank you, Cody." I said in between hiccups. Cody looked down at me and smiled. With the others watching he bent over holding me in his arms and kissed me. I put my hands on his chest and kissed back. It was pure bliss. Duncan's fake cough broke us apart. We looked at him.
"We have a plane to catch." He said smiling at us. He was right. As we walked, Cody and I held hands. Apparently Courtney lived about fifteen minutes away from him, so the four of us would be taking the same plane. Everyone left one at a time. Courtney and Cody heard their names and the four of us stood up, grabbed our stuff and went to the port we were called to. We waited on the line. When we were up next , the girl behind the desk looked at Cody as though she were going to faint. Cody handed the girl our tickets and she blushed at him. He just smiled.
"Sorry, but I'm already taken." He said. The girl pouted. When Duncan was done, we headed onto the plane and found our seats in first class. Cody and I sat down beside each other. Duncan and Courtney sat down next to us in that order so that Duncan was next him. They started planning Cody's and my wedding. I joined in on their conversation. Duncan was saying something.
"I'll wear a tux, but I won't like it. When we get to the reception I'm going to rip the sleeves off." He said.
"That's fine." I said. Cody looked at me and smiled.
"Gwen, what Duncan and I are doing for the wedding are a secret, OK." He said. I looked down, I had heard almost everything they had said.
"You and Courtney can plan your portions of the weddings if you want?" He asked trying to cheer me up. I smiled.
"That would be nice. Duncan and I swapped seats, and kept planning with Cody. I started planning with Courtney.
"I won't make you wear pink at my wedding, but you have to wear white on your wedding day, OK." She said. I wasn't OK with wearing white, but if it made everybody who Cody had invited in good terms with me, I'd do it.
"The same with you. If you want to wear something that's not pink, that's fine." I said. Duncan and Cody were already finished planning and were just sitting back and relaxing. Courtney and I sat planning through out the entire trip home. We decided that Courtney's bridesmaids were going to wear blue and that my bridesmaids were going to wear red. We also decided that we had to make our grooms to be drool over us during the weddings by wearing a sexy wedding dress. I heard that Duncan said he was going to wear the same tux he was going to wear at Cody's and my wedding for his. I was looking forward to meeting Cody's parents. As the plane went down for a landing, we got up and got our things. As soon as the pilot told us the plane was down and able to get off, we did. We found that Cody had himself a really nice car flown here from Florida. We all piled in and set off to Courtney's place. We took a couple of turns and found that Courtney didn't live far from the air port. We dropped them off and set off for Cody's place. We pulled up the drive which was fairly small. The house itself was a fairly decent size. Cody shut the car off, we got out, he grabbed my stuff and we headed for the door. This was it, I became nervous. He opened the door and we walked in.
"Hey, I'm home and I've brought a guest." He said. We heard a noise from the kitchen, then something smelled really good. It smelled like a homemade meatloaf.
"Who is it, dear?" came the voice of someone who sounded like his mother.
"Hey ma. This is Gwen. Where's dad?" He asked. She looked from the kitchen and waved at me. It seemed like his mother did a lot of things around the house. It looked really nice. He smelled the air and smiled.
"Ah, ma's making meatloaf, you'll like it Gwen, my ma makes the best meatloaf there is." He said proudly.
"Your father's out in the garage. Gwen, please don't worry about taking your shoes off, I have yet to vacuum the floor." She said to us. I nodded as Cody ran to the garage. He went in and didn't come back out for a while. I stood there and put my hand on my arm. His mother reappeared and saw me standing there.
"Why don't you take a seat in the living room." She said with a smile and went back to moving around the kitchen. I went into the living room and sat down in one of the chairs. I heard a noise from the garage.
"There they go again." Cody's mother said. What did she mean by that.
"YOU DID WHAT?" I heard a man shout.
"I PROPOSED TO HER, DAD" Cody shouted right back. His mother came back to the doorway.
"They do this all the time, otherwise, they get along really well. You see my husband is his stepfather. Do you want to help me in the kitchen?" she asked seeing my look of panic. I stood up, anything to not have to worry about Cody, I loved him too much to see anything happen to him, but I wasn't about to grow cold feet on him. His mother looked at me.
"Did he really... propose?" She asked.
"I.. yes." I said after a while. His mother smiled.
"Finally, he found someone he cares about." She said like she knew something about him that I didn't.
"What?" I asked looking confused.
"Oh, it's a long story about him, but he's got some of my traits and some of his biological father's traits. You see it comes from his father's side. He can tell if he loves someone just by looking at them. It's a weird thing he can do. Wait, didn't you do that crazy Total Drama thing with him? You did, you hit him too many times in the crotch. I wouldn't be surprised if their still bruised like he told me. He can't be touched down there, there's internal bruising. But he loved you that much to try again, then good for him, he's just like his American father." She said. I did that much damage to him, I felt really bad about doing that to him. I followed her into the kitchen, I learned about how to cook and I had fun doing it. His mother gave me her recipe for her meatloaf, it was one of Cody's favorite meals. After a while we heard a slam and Cody's father walked into the kitchen. He had on a pair of overalls and a dirty blue tee-shirt. He grabbed a glass and got some water out of the fridge. While he was drinking it, Cody walked in and did the same.
"Sorry for yelling at you, sport." His father said to him.
"It's alright, dad." Cody said.
"So this is Gwen?" His father asked.
"Yeah." He answered, smiling a toothy grin.
"Nice to meet ya." His father said.
"Yeah, nice to meet you too." I said.
"You know, after that first show you guys did, all he could do was talk about you." His father said.
"Dad." Cody said rubbing the back of his head and blushing.
"Really?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, he also told me that he proposed to you. Good thing he graduated then, huh?" His father said calmly.
"Yeah," I said, now rubbing the back of my head, so he was eighteen.
"Well, if your going to marry him, my wife and your mother are going to need to prep your wedding." His father said.
"Thanks, Dad but we already have everything Prepared." Cody intervened. I was glad he said it and not me
"Yeah. We do." I said.
"Will it be a proper wedding?" His mother asked.
"Yes, mom." He said.
"OK." His father said. Cody left the kitchen and I followed him. He went outside. I still followed him, He went into the forest and I followed him. He knew he was being followed, so he turned around to face me. His face went from a look of disgust to a gentle and kind look.
"My stepfather likes being an ass, he doesn't want us to get married." He said.
"Your mother loves the idea that you're getting married." I said. His face cracked into a grin.
"You know we all got invitations to another one of Chris's reality TV shows. You going to join him this time?" He asked.
"It'll be tough if we're married, but yeah another shot at the million sounds good to me." I answered.
"Then I'm going to join as well and where do you want our wedding to take place?" He asked me. I blushed, then I remembered what his mother had said. I thought about it hard for a few seconds and then got my answer.
"How about Niagara Falls?" I suggested. He smiled. I blushed again. He pulled me in.
"Then I'll send out the the invitations with the date. How does two weeks from now sound to you?" He asked still holding me close. His mother and stepfather saw us from the kitchen window and smiled, they said something to each other and left the window. I sighed and put my head on his chest.
"That sounds wonderful." I said. Cody and I were actually going to get married at Niagara Falls. When we went back inside, we went up to his room, which was pretty small seeing as this was a decent sized house. He sat down at the desk and turned on his computer. He started taping on his keyboard. I looked and saw that he was making invitation card s for all of our friends and family. When he was done he gave me his computer so that I could do the same. We even gave a time and exact place to be. When I was finished, the wedding was to take place under Niagara Falls at eleven A.M. On the fourteenth, which was two weeks from now, just as we had planned. We hung out around his place while he did his chores, I helped his mother out in the kitchen while learning a lot from her. When he finished all of his chores we took the rest of the week to hang out with Duncan and Courtney. They had broke the news to her parents. They were thrilled about how well the parents took the news. Cody told them about what his father tried. They didn't look surprised. We also told them the time and place of the wedding.
"I'll being going ahead of time to find a wedding dress." I said leaning into Cody.
"Looks like I'm going with you. I've got to help you pick something out, remember?" Courtney said. Duncan said that he and Cody had to go into the city and get tuxedos. Courtney already had her wedding dress, she wouldn't let Duncan see it so she waited until he and Cody left before showing it to me. It was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen, it was also very sexy.
"That'll make both of the boys drool." I said. She blushed.
"Let's hope Cody doesn't drool to badly. If he does, please don't hurt him, I'm Duncan's and you know that." She said
"To be truthful, I don't think I could hurt him." I said sadly, because it's the truth. She smiled and patted my back.
"A couple days before the wedding, we'll go and get you a wedding dress, OK." She said. I smiled.
"OK." I said. The guys got back after Courtney and I finished talking. We met them at the door, and let them in. Duncan had his tux hung over his shoulder while Cody had his the same way. We had asked them to put them on so we could see them.
"Nope." Duncan said. And put his in the closet. I looked at Cody who nodded, I looked down out of disappointment. He put the tux down on the bed and walked up to me. I looked up to him and took his out-stretched hand. He pulled me up into a hug, then pulled my chin up and kissed me. I kissed back, I didn't know what it was, but having him kiss me gave me a sensation that I had never felt with any of the guys I'd dated. When we broke Duncan looked at us with one eyebrow raised and smirked at us.
"Hey, don't let me stop you." He said and he left the room.
"Where were we?" I asked. He just looked at me and kissed me again but he ended it earlier than I did, when he had enough he pulled away.
"Ow, that hurts." I said. I knew what I doing to him, I just didn't expect his face to go from calm and gentle to worried and frantic.
"Where?" He asked looking for the hurt.
"Here." I said pointing to my lips. He looked at me and held me in his arms, he slowly bent his neck so that he could kiss my hurt away. He kissed me and I felt the pain go away. This time I pulled back and he did the same.
"All better?" He asked.
"Yeah." I said.
"Oh, so that you know, if you want to use my mothers wedding dress that fine and Duncan and I are going to Niagara Falls the day before the wedding." He said.
"That's OK, but Courtney and I are going down a few days before the wedding so that I can get a wedding dress and OK." I said. I was glad that Cody and I were getting married. We hung out with Duncan and Courtney for the rest of the week. Then Courtney and I head over to Niagara Falls so that I could pick out a wedding dress and three bridesmaids dresses. We found three identical red dresses and one beautiful white dress that we knew would make Cody faint and probably give Duncan a heart attack. We spent rest of the time preparing for the wedding, getting everything in order. On the day before the wedding Cody and Duncan were getting out of his car in their favorite clothes grabbing their tuxedos from the back. Shortly after they had arrived, everyone else starting showing up, we roughly had over sixty people here attending this wedding. Leshawna and Sierra walked in and screamed that they didn't have to wear pink. I saw Alejandro and Owen arrive and head towards Cody and Duncan. They stood in a group talking. The wedding was tomorrow. I was going to sleep very well. I knew Cody would as well. I heard Cody and the other guys walk by, they were saying something about a bachelors party. I fell asleep. The next morning I woke up to the sound of sierra saying something.
"You can't come in Cody, it's bad luck for the groom to see his bride before the wedding, you should know that." She said.
"Well is she up at the least?" He asked. I was awake, but that was it. Sierra closed the door in his face.
"Come on, sleepy head, you got a big day ahead of you." She said. We got me up and into my wedding dress as Leshawna and Courtney came in.
"Oh good, we're not late." Leshawna said. They got themselves into their dresses. And took over for Sierra so she could put her dress on. When they had finished my father came into the room.
"Wow, Gwen you look beautiful. Cody is one lucky guy." He said. I blushed.
"Thanks, dad." I said. I grabbed my bouquet.
"Well, you are ready." He said. We walked down the hall to stand at the side of the large double door. The flower girl went in first, followed by the ring bearer. Then went the bridesmaids, and the witnesses. Duncan and Cody were already at the alter. The music started playing and my father placed his arm around mine.
"Let me lead you up before you get cold feet, dear." He said. Then he started walking with me. When we entered the room, I couldn't help but smile. As my father led me up the aisle, I saw all of my friends, but none of Cody's, didn't he have any friends. I saw the look on Cody's and Duncan face's Duncan whispered something to Cody and he closed his mouth. I got up to the alter and the music stopped. Everyone sat down. Owen and Alejandro were sitting just opposite the side that Sierra, Leshawna, and Courtney were sitting on. The preacher began the wedding.
"We are gathered here today, on this happy and joyous occasion, to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. Marriage is a solemn institution to be held in honor by all, it is the cornerstone of the family and of the community. It requires of those who undertake it a complete and unreserved giving of one's self. It is not to be entered into lightly, as marriage is a sincere and mutual commitment to love one another. This commitment symbolizes the intimate sharing of two lives and still enhances the individuality of each of you. Cody, do you take this woman to be your wedded wife? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health, remaining faithful to her as long as you both shall live?" He said.
"I do." Cody said
"Gwendolyn, do you take this man to be your wedded husband? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in sickness and in health, remaining faithful to him as long as you both shall live?" The preacher said.
"I do" I said.
"Then by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." the preacher said. Cody and I turned to face each other, and we kissed. Everybody started clapping. Duncan smiled. Cody and I turned again and walked back down the aisle waving to most of my friends. We exited the building and got on the ship that would be taking us to Niagara Falls. Other people piled onto the ship. After every one was on the it, it took off. It slowly moved as we partied.
"I already have a home up near where you live so we can be together up there." Cody said. I smiled.
"You're going to move and leave Duncan to deal with Courtney alone?" I asked.
"Of course not. He's having his wedding up there." He said. I sighed and put my head into his chest. When the music started playing he and I were the first two on the dance floor, shortly after Duncan and Courtney stepped onto the floor. Next was Alejandro and Sierra, then Izzy and Owen, Tyler and Lindsay, Leshawna and Harold, Geoff and Bridgette, Justin and Katie, and last but not least was Noah and Beth. My father came out and asked if he could cut in, Cody moved off to the side as my mother came out to dance with him. Then his stepfather and his mother came out and intervened with us.
"I am so proud of you, sweetie." his mother said.
"Mom." He said. His stepfather and I laughed at him. When they got done dancing with us Duncan and Courtney came over and intervened with us. It felt wrong to be dancing with his best friend.
"Hey Duncan, do you know that Chris is thinking of putting us on another one of his lame shows?" I asked. He smirked.
"Yeah, I know, Courtney and I plan on going back." He answered. Cody and I finally got to go back to dancing with each other. We danced until it was time to slice the cake that Owen was drooling over. Cody and I both took the knife and cut the cake, we pulled it out and put it on one of the plates there. We started sharing mouth fulls of the cake with each other until he he dipped his finger in the piece of cake and wiped it on my face. I smiled and took the entire piece and put it right into his face. Everybody laughed at him, he even laughed at himself. This only made everybody laugh harder. He stood there and took his finger and wiped some of the cake off of his face and ate it.
"Not bad, a chocolate Cody." He joked. Everybody got a piece of cake after that. We all sat down and ate our cake. After that we talked for a few hours, had some drinks, and partied the rest of the time. Cody and Geoff really brought out the fun side of everybody. Leshawna and Harold continued dancing. Duncan and Courtney were talking to Alejandro and Sierra. Had they gotten together or something, because Sierra had both of her arms around Alejandro. Cody was sitting with Geoff talking about something. Justin was dancing with Katie. They had hooked up a couple days ago and were having a lot of fun. I felt sorry for Sadie. She had lost her best friend. Trent was going to play another song for us, but he wasn't going to dedicate it us. Thank god, I don't think I could handle blushing again. Cody saw me and I smiled at at him, he smiled and waved. He got up and walked over to me.
"Are you enjoying yourself, Gwen?" He asked as he got to me.
"I'm just glad that this is almost over, I don't think I could handle another blush." I said. Trent was heading up to the microphone. He got up there and set his guitar up.
"Hey everybody. Can I have your attention please?" He asked through the mic. Everybody looked to where he was standing.
"I have another song for Cody and Gwen, only this is for when they were at camp. So if everyone could clear the dance floor and Justin step up here with me?" He asked. Justin was helping him this time? Everybody cleared the dance floor and Justin went up to the stage, Trent helped him up. They began singing as Cody led me out onto the dance floor.
"I almost got drunk at school at 14, where I almost made out with the homecoming queen, who almost went on to be miss Texas, but lost to a sl*t with much much bigger breastes, I almost dropped out to move to LA, where I was almost famous for almost a day." He sang. Then Justin started.
"And I almost had you, but I guess that doesn't cut it, almost loved you, I almost wished you would've loved me too." Justin sang. Back to Trent. By then more people where on the dance floor.
"I almost held up a grocery store, where I almost did five years and then seven more, cause I almost got bopped for a fight with a thug, cause he almost made off with a bunch of the drugs, that I almost got hooked on cause you ran away and I wish I would have had the nerve to ask you to stay." Trent sang.
"And I almost had you, but I guess that doesn't cut it, almost had you, and I didn't even know it, and you kept me guessin', and now I'm destined to spend my time missing you
I almost wish you would a loved me too." Justin sang. I put my head on Cody's chest and let him do all the work. Trent started again.
"Here I go thinkin' bout all the things I could have done, I'm gonna need a forklift cause all the baggage weighs a ton (baggage weighs a ton), I know we had our problems, I can't remember one. I almost forgot to say something else, and if I can't fit it in I'll keep it all to myself, I almost wrote a song about you today, but I tore it all up and then I threw it away." He sang. Justin started again.
"And I almost had you, but I guess that doesn't cut it, almost had you, and I didn't even know it." He sang. They sang the last couple verses together.
"You kept me guessin', and now I'm destined, to spend my time missin' you, and I almost had you, (Almost had you), almost had you, I almost wished you would've loved me too, (wished you would've loved me too)" They sang. When they finished they got a large round of applause's from everyone here. Cody was looking down with a slight frown on his face, he looked around and walked away towards the back of the ship. Duncan and I saw him, I started to follow him, but was stopped by Duncan.
"Let me handle this, he needs a guy to talk to right now." He said looking as though something was wrong. I didn't like that face he was making. He left to check on him, he turned the corner...
"CODY, NOOOOOO!" Duncan shouted. Everybody heard him. Courtney, Geoff, Leshawna, and Owen all had to hold me back to stop me from getting to him. DJ, Alejandro, and Tyler ran ahead to help Duncan. Had Trent hit an extremely soft spot Cody? If he had I'm gonna kill him. Everybody realized that they were losing to me and let me go, but there was another object in my way: Sierra.
"Where do you think you're going?" She said looking ready to hurt me. I flinched. But I came right back at her.
"I'm going to help Cody." I shouted. She made no attempt to move. Everybody heard a few splashes. We all ran to the side of the ship to find Cody swimming towards the shore with Duncan, DJ, Alejandro, and Tyler right behind him.
"Get away from me! I want to be left alone."Cody shouted at the others. He was a fast swimmer. Duncan and the others fell behind him. He got into his car and drove off. I felt my eyes water. What was he doing? There's no way he was leaving me, not when he finally got his dream girl and I found who I really wanted. I took a little piece of paper out of my pocket and read it again. It seemed so real a few weeks ago. I went into the ship where I sat crying my eyes out for a few minutes. I heard a knock on the door.
"Gwen, are you down here?" I heard Trent ask. I looked up, I'm going to ask him if he had anything to do with this.
"Yeah." I called back.
"Can I come down?" He asked.
"Sure." I called. He got down here and saw the state of mind I was in. he came over and sat down next to me.
"Are you OK?" He asked.
"I'll be fine in a few minutes. I have something to ask you." I said. He looked confused.
"OK, ask away." He said. He knew what was coming before I had even asked it, he was starting to sweat and he looked like he was going to break down.
"OK, yes I did it, but I did it only because I still love you." He said starting to break down. That was easy, I didn't even have to try.
"I still love you." he repeated and sobbed. I needed to find out where Cody went, I needed him to know that I still loved him. Who was I kidding, I needed to know that he still loved me. I got my cell phone out and dialed Cody's number. Trent looked up.
"What are you going to do?" He asked looking scared.
"Cody has a right to know why you did that to him. I'm going to tell him." I answered. His eyes got big. He knew what Cody was capable of now, not even Owen could out lift him when it came to weight. As a matter of fact Cody could pick Owen up with ease.
"Please, I'll do anything, just don't do that." He begged. I didn't buy into his crap.
"Hello." came Cody's voice.
"Cody, it's me, Gwen." I said.
"Hey." He said. He sounded down.
"Trent has something he'd like to say to you." I said glaring at Trent. He cringed, but took the phone.
"H-Hey, Cody I-I'm sorry f-for what I-I did t-to you a-and Gwen on y-your wedding d-day." He said stuttering every couple of words. I could tell just from the way Trent flinched that Cody was yelling at him. I couldn't hear what he shouting because I didn't put the speaker phone on. Trent began to cry again, only the tears were non-stop, they were just rolling down his face. He held my phone out to me. I took it and stood up I left the room to let Trent be alone.
"Cody, are you alright now?" I asked warily. I heard harsh breathing on the other end.
"Yeah, I'm fine now, I'm coming back and tossing him off the ship, OK." He said, it wasn't a question and he sounded serious.
"You don't need to do that." I said just as Bridgette walked up to me. I held my finger up and she nodded.
"Yes, I do. He ruined yours and my wedding day." He said.
"Cody, I got to go. I'll let everyone know that you're on your way back and please don't swim back." I said, but I had already heard a click. I turned to face Bridgette.
"So, he's coming back, you do know that everybody here want's to kill him?" She asked.
"It's not him that they should want to kill, it's Trent. He sang that song on purpose, he knew it would bother Cody to the point that he'd jump off the side of the ship. I just locked him in that room." I said. She smiled.
"I knew that it was something that happened before hand, otherwise he wouldn't have done that. And Duncan wouldn't have left him alone so easily if he didn't know that it was Trent. But Duncan did follow him all the way to the shore, so he must not have known." She said. "Don't worry Gwen, I'll go spread the news that Cody's coming back."
"Thanks and tell everybody that it's Trent's fault, but we need him on the ship for when Cody gets back." I said
"OK." She said. She left to tell everybody. Shortly after she left, Duncan, DJ, Alejandro, and Tyler came down stairs.
"Hey." Tyler said.
"We heard the entire story, if you want to go back up and hang with the others, that's fine. We'll keep Trent down here." Duncan said.
"OK, thanks." I said. I left and headed up the stairs. I opened the door to see everyone staring out to the side of the ship, I looked to where they were all staring, it was Cody already on his way over to us. He was in a small motor boat. Leshawna had already thrown a ladder over the side of the ship. As Cody came up the ladder everybody got out of his way. He walked straight up to me and pulled me into the tightest embrace that he had ever pulled me into.
"I'm sorry, I promise that I'll never do that to you again." He said quietly. My eyes began to water . Everybody began to clap and cheer. We all heard a loud noise from below deck and then a thud.
"GET BACK HERE, YOU $$HOLE!" Duncan shouted. Cody ran to the door leading to the lower deck as Trent came running out and right into him. Trent hit the ground as Cody looked at him. Trent looked like he had just seen a ghost. All the color that was left in him was gone. Cody bent down and picked him up and literally threw him over the side of the ship. He smiled after he did that. I put my hand over my mouth as Duncan and the others came up. Duncan was bleeding from his forehead and Tyler was hold his side, Alejandro helped keep Duncan steady while DJ helped Tyler. Duncan and Tyler had to go to the infirmary to have their injuries taken care of. Cody and I never left each other sight after this. Several times, Trent tried to get back on the ship, but DJ, Alejandro, and Geoff threw him off. That's when he learned that he wasn't wanted on the ship. He swam to shore and sat on a stump. Leshawna and Bridgette walked up to me and Cody.
"Hey, are you two alright?" Leshawna asked. Cody smiled and nodded and went to get some punch.
"Yeah, but I can't feel that something bad is going to happen to us again." I said.
"Well, they let Heather out today on Chris's asking because he needs her for his new show." Bridgette said. Upon seeing the look of horror on my face, Leshawna elbowed her. Bridgette realized her mistake a little to late. She looked down out of disappointment in herself. I calmed down as Cody came back with four cups of punch for us. Cody saw Bridgette's face.
"What's wrong Bridgette?" He asked.
"Nothing." She said rather quickly.
"If it about Heather, I already know, Chris told me a couple days before the wedding. Speaking of him, he and Chef were supposed to be here an hour ago. I sent invites to them." He said looking around for them.
"Their in the infirmary with out fathers, Cody." I said. He looked confused.
"Why?" He asked.
"They got into a fight upon Chris and Chef's arrival." I answered.
"OK, Gwen, I'm going to go talk to them." He said.
"Can't it wait?" I asked. Just as I said that, Courtney and Harold stepped up onto the stage and asked everyone to clear the dance floor. Zeke went up onto the stage as well along with Izzy. Zeke sat down at the drum set and Izzy picked up the techno mic. Harold went to the keyboard and Courtney was already holding the mic.
"Can Cody and Gwen step out onto the dance floor, please?" She asked. I led Cody out this time, I wanted to dance with him. He pulled me close and I put my head on his chest. Courtney and Izzy began singing.
"Where is the moment we needed the most, You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost, They tell me your blue skies fade to gray, They tell me your passion's gone away, And I don't need no carryin' on, You stand in the line just to hit a new low, You're faking a smile with the coffee you go, You tell me your life's been way off line, You're falling to pieces every time, And I don't need no carryin' on." Courtney sang. Then Izzy came in.
"Because you had a bad day, You're taking one down, You sing a sad song just to turn it around, You say you don't know, You tell me don't lie, You work at a smile and you go for a ride, You had a bad day, The camera don't lie, You're coming back down and you really don't mind, You had a bad day, You had a bad day, Will you need a blue sky holiday? The point is they laugh at what you say And I don't need no carryin' on." Izzy sang. Courtney sang again.
"You had a bad day, You're taking one down, You sing a sad song just to turn it around, You say you don't know, You tell me don't lie, You work at a smile and you go for a ride, You had a bad day, The camera don't lie, You're coming back down and you really don't mind, You had a bad day." Courtney sang. "(Oooh.. a holiday..)" Izzy sang.
"Sometimes the system goes on the blink, And the whole thing turns out wrong, You might not make it back and you know, That you could be well oh that strong, And I'm not wrong." Courtney sang. "(yeah...)" Izzy sang.
"So where is the passion when you need it the most,Oh you and I, You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost." Courtney sang. Then they both sang.
"Cause you had a bad day, You're taking one down, You sing a sad song just to turn it around, You say, you don't know, You tell me don't lie, You work at a smile and you go for a ride, You had a bad day, You've seen what you like, And how does it feel for one more time,You had a bad day, You had a bad day." They finished. Everybody started clapping, I saw that Cody and I were the only ones on the dance floor. I started to blush, when Cody put his arms around me is when I turned crimson. My friend, Reaper came running out of nowhere and snapped a picture of us and quickly ran back into the crowd. I ran after him while Cody laughed himself to death. His mother thought he needed one of his epipen shots and ran up to him with it ready.
"Mom, I don't need that." I heard him say. When the ship landed, everybody left to go home. When everybody left, Cody and I stayed to talk.
"Cody, what do you think is going to happen now?" I asked.
"I don't know, but whatever happens will happen and we won't have any control over it." He answered. He can be pretty smart at times, then there are his moments when he doesn't even act remotely smart, but he's mine now and I would never let go of him.
