All eyes were on Team 7 as they walked in. "This is gonna be fun," the blond haired girl said. A group of genin from Sunagakure looked them over. A pale one with a huge sand gourd on his back, dark bags on his eyes and an expressionless face looked Sasuke over especially before feeling the Ki from Naruto. He turned his eyes to the long haired blond girl with strange whisker marks. She released a heavy killing aura all with a smile on her face. She was interesting, making the pale sand ninja feel like she would make him feel alive.
Neji, Lee and Tenten also watched as they came in. Neji looked at the team of young genin. He smirked and looked away. He was destined to become chunin this exam. Whoever got in his way would lose. Tenten smiled warmly. She was going to enjoy fighting them. After all she had a years more experience than them so how could she lose? Lee started talking about the power of youth.
Naruto found a seat and looked around. So many strong looking people. She was looking forward to fighting them. She looked at Sasuke. She wanted to fight him too. She just hadn't said it yet. She wondered if she ever would.
Sasuke noticed Naruto looking at him. He smirked. Sasuke wanted to fight Naruto. This chunin exam might be the perfect opportunity for it. "What're you looking at baka?"
Naruto realized she was staring at him. "Nothing Teme. Just wondering if your up to the challenge," she said defensively.
"Hn, are you?" He asked with a smirk.
"Damn right. I'll kick everone's ass. Hear that? I'll kick all your asses!" Naruto yelled out to everone. Everyone in the room turned and looked at the blond girl yelling. They all smirked. Naruto just painted a target on her back.
Just then Ibiki Morino appeared at the front of the room. "Everyone take your seats! The first exam is about to begin." Everyone went to the seat they were assigned. Naruto was about three rows from the front next to Hinata. Sasuke was in the desk by the window in the middle of the room. Sakura was in the back row in the middle of the room.
"Alright. I am the proctor for the first exam, Ibiki Morino," He said. "I am going to pass around a paper. Leave it face down on the desk in front of you." He gestured to a couple of chunin behind him. They passed the papers around. "There are 10 questions to the test. Nine are on the paper in front of you. The last question I will ask you after you finish the test in front of you. Now, there are three rules to the test. Rule number one, No cheating. If you are caught cheating three times your team will be disqualified. Rule number two, you must complete the test to move on. If you fail two questions, your team will be disqualified. Rule number three, again no cheating. That means no talking. If you get caught cheating, you will be disqualified."
The chunin returned to the front of the room and set the extra papers on the desk. Several other chunin came in and sat in the chairs around the walls, one on each side of the room for each row.
"You have thirty minutes. Begin," Ibiki said setting a clock on the front table that was counting down from thirty.
Everyone flipped their papers over. Naruto looked at the first question. 'Wind speed 10 k/h. Dense forest. Three enemies. You throw three kunai. Draw their projected path, calculating drop and wind drag.' Naruto stared at the paper. No genin would know this. Naruto read the rest of the questions. No genin would ever be able to answer these questions. Then it clicked in her head. 'If you get caught cheating, you will be disqualified.' They wanted you to cheat. Naruto had no real way of cheating without getting caught so She started to think of ways.
Sasuke picked up on it right away and silently activated his sharingan to copy the movements of the person in front of him to write the answers to the test. He then started tapping his pencil on his headband.
Sakura saw and knew he was transmitting the answers to her. She copied the answers down and when she finished she looked at Naruto. 'I hope she figures it out," she thought.
Naruto sat in the third row, pondering how to cheat without getting caught. She had a few ideas but was distracted by Hinata who coughed softly next to her. "You can cheat off me, Naruto-kun." Naruto glanced at her and smiled.
"No thanks, Hinata-chan. I want to test my skills," she said before doing a jutsu under the table. 'Kage Bunshin no Jutsu,' she thought. Under the table poofed a copy of her. The copy then transformed into a bug and ran around the room to the answer sheet at the front. It quickly memorized the answers and disappeared. Naruto smiled as the answers appeared in her brain and she copied them down.
As soon as she finished writing, Ibiki walked to the center of the front of the room. "Time is up! Put down your pencil's!"
Everyone did so and looked around. About a dozen groups had failed due to cheating. Naruto smiled. Her group had made it. So did the pale guy from Suna and his team. Neji's team made it. All groups from Konoha had made it. There were 6 teams from Konoha, 1 from Suna, 1 from the starter Sound Village, 2 from the Hidden Mist village, as well as several others. All in all there were 25 teams there. They all looked pretty strong.
"Now for the final question. All those who wish to hear it stay, but if you answer wrong you and your team fail. If you don't want to take the last question leave, and your team fails. Choose quickly!" Ibiki looked around. Everyone had a thinking look on their face. He smiled, they were all taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of themselves and their team.
A hand shot in the air, "I would like to withdraw from the last question." It was a member of the Hidden Mist.
"Then leave, your team fails!" Ibiki said loudly. The three from his team went into the hallway and left, looking disheartened. "Anyone else?" No one else raised their hand and looked determined. Determination from genin wishing to push their limits. Ibiki smiled, what a bunch of children, where they ready? That would be answered soon enough. "Alright! If no one else wants to quit then I only have one thing to say! You all," he paused for dramatic effect, smiling ruthlessly, "pass!"
A chorus of hoorays and 'that's it?' was heard all around the room. "Be at training ground 44 by noon. If you don't know it, just ask someone directions to the Forest of Death." Ibiki stood still and looked at everyone leaving. He went around and collected all the papers. He found Naruto's and saw that all the answers were exactly as written on the answer sheet, word for word as if she memorized it. 'What an interesting brat,' Ibiki thought chuckling to himself.
At the Forest of Death, a kunoichi waited leaning on the fence surrounding the forest. She wore short tan shorts, a black mesh top and a tan trench coat with rolled up sleeves. Her purple hair was pulled into a bun and she had her hitai-ate around her forehead. She wore the practical blue ninja sandals that everyone wore. She was twirling a kunai around one finger, licking her lips in anticipation of the next test.
Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke were the first ones at the Forest of Death. They looked at the kunoichi leaning on the fence and started talking silently among themselves. After a while the kunoichi felt ignored so she hissed loudly. The three looked up at her.
"Don't ignore me bakas," she said.
"And who are you?" Sasuke asked.
"I'm the proctor of the next exam, Mitarashi Anko. And you are Uchiha Sasuke, last of your clan. Haruno Sakura, a useless wannabe kunoichi. And Uzumaki Naruto daughter of," Anko stopped herself there.
"Daughter of who? Do you know my father?" Naruto asked excitedly.
"I'm sorry. I can't tell you that," Anko said.
"And why not? I have the right to know who my father is!" Naruto pressed.
"By order of the Third, I'm not allowed to tell you," Anko said softly, sensing the desire in Naruto. "If you want to know ask him."
"I think I'll do that," Naruto said looking at the Hokage tower, the tallest building in Konoha.
"However, you have to pass this test first. It's 1145 and your the only group here," Anko said. Just then the rest of the genin showed up from all different directions. "Scouting out the area ahead of time. Good job. Now then gaki's, let's get to business. You will be released into this forest at exactly noon so I only have 15 minutes to give you the brief. In other words, shut up and listen!" Everyone got quiet. "Now, this is the Forest of Death. It used to be a well used training ground in Konoha but deadly beasties kept killing our genin so now we use it for the chunin exams." A couple people gulped. Naruto looked excited and Sasuke looked interested, in his usual impassive face. If you got used to it, you could tell his emotions but if not then he was just a wall. "You will travel from one of the gates on the outside of this fence to the center of the training field, approximately 5 kilometers, fighting your way through beasts and carnivorous plants and, of course, each other.
"But other than just surviving this test, you have another objective," Anko held up two scrolls, one in each hand. One had the Heaven kanji on it and the other had the Earth kanji, "Each team will be given one of these scrolls. You must acquire both to be granted entrance to the tower in the center. But first you have to sign the waivers at these booths. We wouldn't want your respective villages or families to get angry if you died in these woods now would we?" Anko grinned and licked her lips.
"I'm not dieing here you creepy demon," Naruto muttered. Anko disappeared from where she was standing and appeared behind Naruto. Naruto's form shifted just a tad and a spray of sparks was seen. Anko had a line across her cheek. Naruto just grinned. "Still think I'm gonna die?" she said cockily.
'Interesting gaki. No normal genin would have been able to deflect that, let alone cut my cheek without me seeing them move. She might go far,' Anko thought. "Not bad gaki, but at this point I'm the least of your worries. If you don't sign the waiver you can't do this portion of the test. Sign or don't sign, your choice," Anko said walking to the closest booth and leaning on the post. Every genin eventually went and signed the waivers and picked up their teams scroll.
At 1159 all the teams were stationed on a different gate. Anko used a jutsu to make her voice louder, "You have three day's to make it to the tower," she said. "Begin!" Just then the tower struck 1200 and all the genin took off into the forest searching for eachother and the tower.
With Naruto
Naruto's team paused at a waterfall. It was already near sunset. They decided to rest in a cave behind the waterfall because it was partially concealed. Naruto stripped to her boxers and her black undershirt causing Sasuke to look away pointedly. Naruto dived into the river and started throwing fish into the air. Sasuke nailed the fish with kunai.
Sakura started a small fire in the mouth of the cave and made a spicket. When Sasuke brought in the fish, Sakura speared the fish to the spicket and started cooking them. Naruto jumped out of the lake, black undershirt and boxers sticking to her body, showing her curves and her chest. Her movements were fluid and faster than Sasuke thought they would be. Naruto grabbed her jacket and pants and walked off into the woods to change.
When she was out of sight of the cave, Naruto set her jacket down and activated the seal on the sleeve. Out popped a scroll. Naruto unrolled just the first seal in the scroll and got out new clothes as well as some hygiene items. She took the hygiene items and scrubbed herself off, rinsing off with some water she had, and changed into dry spandex shorts and an orange bra. She put a black mesh shirt on then pulled on some highwater orange workout pants and her everpresent jacket. She activated the gravity seals on her clothes and smiled as she got a little heavier. Even when slowed down a little, she could still take most genin. She sealed everything back into the scroll and put it back in the seal in her jacket sleeve.
Naruto got back to the camp to the smell of cooked fish and saw Sasuke and Sakura facing off with a group of Sound ninja, one of whom had transformed into Naruto. Naruto grinned, this would get fun. The entire group watched her walk up. The fake Naruto looked at Naruto and pointed shouting "She's an imposter!"
Naruto just smiled and grabbed a fish and started eating. "See she's not even denying it!" Naruto looked up at her again and stopped smiling. She disappeared and reappeared behind the now screaming ninja in her form. Naruto continued eating her fish and leaned on the tree she was beside as the other ninja was covered in a cloud of smoke showing everyone he was the fake. This ninja was also from the Sound. He jumped back to join his friends.
Naruto calmly walked over to Sasuke and Sakura before nodding to them. Naruto and Sasuke, since they were the best at taijutsu, took off at the opponents as Sakura started throwing kunai. The sound ninja jumped out of the way of the kunai, only to get thrown together by Sasuke and Naruto. The third Sound ninja jumped at Naruto screaming. Naruto dodged him and kicked him in the stomach bringing her elbow into his neck. He collapsed on the ground out cold. Sasuke also dispatched one of the Sound with a swift strike to the back of his head.
The last one looked at Naruto angrily and jumped. He released a jutsu that deafened Naruto. Naruto covered her ears and closed her eyes at the pain. She opened her eyes to see the ninja aiming for a kill strike with his sword. Naruto spun out of the way and released her ears, quickly grabbing a kunai.
"I got this Sasuke. Search the other two for the scroll," Naruto said facing off with the last one. Sasuke nodded his consent and started searching the other two while Naruto made quick work of the last Sound ninja. Naruto searched him but didn't find the scroll. She walked over to Sasuke.
Sasuke was holding something in his hand. "Sakura, what scroll do we have," he asked.
"Heaven," Sakura answered, "why?"
Sasuke held up the scroll he found. The heaven kanji was clearly visible. "We should keep it to bargain with somebody," Naruto said.
"Or it would keep another team from finishing," Sakura said.
"That too, we should keep it."
Sasuke tucked it into his kunai pouch. They threw the bodies of the Sound ninja in the cave they were staying at and moved positions. They made a passcode to be able to identify each other. Sasuke took the first watch as the others went to sleep for that night.
