Yay a second chapter! I'm currently in the writing mood for this story but who knows when I'll get sick of it. But for now, I'll make use of my brain to continue on the plot. I only had a vague idea on what the whole story will be about and to tell you the truth, I have absolutely no idea what will happen after this chapter. I have fragments of the story in the subconsciousness of my head, which I hope will all click together as soon as the plot progresses. Anyway, here's chapter 2!
-CHAPTER 2-
Len P.O.V
I walked back towards the classroom sighing along the way. My attempt at switching partners failed, which meant I would be stuck with Rin Shion for the rest of the year.
It was a mystery why she was always so quiet and expressionless. I just couldn't understand why she never seemed to make an effort to interact with anyone.
Is she incapable of any other expressions? Does she even feel any emotion? Numerous thoughts raced through my head. No one knew anything about Rin Shion and never dared to find out.
Everyone made an effort to avoid her, including me. I didn't want to get involved with anyone troublesome.
Not only that, her glares made me uncomfortable. I sighed again. Scratching the back of my head, I proceeded back to class.
She's forced to stay back with me, just because I was a little dazed. It's my fault she got dragged into this mess.
She... must be pissed...
Walking along the corridors, I caught a glimpse of a yellow in the corner of my eye. Speak of the devil, it was Rin Shion.
What was she doing in the school garden? I walked closer to the window, leaning against the glass.
She was squatting down over a patch of mimosa, caressing the leaves, watching them slowly fold together, as if shying away from human contact.
She seemed to be enjoying herself, but her expressionless face was hard to read. Suddenly, began ruffling through the mimosa patch as if seaching for something. She picked up a small object from the thick patch and held it up, observing it closely.
The tiny object glittered in the sun. I deduced it was metal. Curious, I pressed my face against the glass trying to make out what it was.
It looked familiar Hold on, that was Miku's key chain! I'd recognise that peculiar thing anywhere! Shion found it!
I was delighted at the news, knowing Miku would be overjoyed to get her precious key chain back.
If I returned it to her, Miku would definitely be grateful to me and she will start taking notice of me!
Before I could approach Shion, she turned her head and saw me through the window. Her unwavering blue eyes made me shiver in fear. I couldn't look away. Could she be mad at me for sabotaging her?
She quickly spun and walked away briefly.
"Ah!" I reached out my hand hoping to stop her. By then, she had disappeared from sight. What was with that glare she gave me? Was she that angry at me? I scratched my head at a loss for what to do and continued walking back to class.
"Forget it, she can return the key chain. She found it after all..."I mumbled.
By the time I reached the classroom, almost half of the recess was over, and I had yet to consume anything. My stomach growled softly as I stepped into the classroom. I clutched my stomach, embarrassed. Hoping no one heard my hunger, I quickly paced back to my seat where Gumiya was already eating.
"Took you long enough," he glanced at his watch, "Recess is ending soon. Hurry up and turn off that alarm of yours. It's gonna distract me in class." Gumiya pointed his chopsticks at my abdomen. I blushed at his comment and snapped, "Shut up."
He started laughing at me, almost choking on his rice. Was it that loud? Was I that hungry?
I fished out my lunchbox from my bag, opened it, said my thanks, and quickly dug in. I didn't have enough time this morning to eat breakfast so that must have been why I was so hungry. I began stuffing my mouth with rice.
Familiar voices emitted behind the back door. It opened to reveal Miku and Gumi chatting and laughing happily about who knows what. They must have finished eating in the cafeteria. I looked at Miku and felt my heart move just hearing her innocent laughter. Her smile made her seem like an angel. Just then, her eyes met mine. Excitement rose in her eyes and she began skipping towards me.
"Leeeen!" her sweet, high-pitched voice ringed in my ears as she approached me. She squatted beside my table and perched her head on my desk. Her slender fingers clutched the edge of my desk. She looked so adorable with her cheeks puffing out like that. She was just so cute...
"Hey, Len! I forgot to tell you what my key chain looked like! You can't help me if you don't know what it is!" she pouted a little at her forgetfulness. I shook my head and smiled, "It's alright, I know what it looks like. It's a leek isn't it?" Her sparkling eyes widened and she gasped.
"Correct! That's amazing, you have such a good memory!" she clapped her hands together and tilted her head. Her eyes grew softer and she said softly, "You're so nice, Len. Thank you so much!"
My heart skipped a beat when I heard her compliment me. I've never seen her eyes so gentle before. Her usual loud, cheery voice was softer than usual, and it was so gentle and sweet. It made Miku seem cuter than she already was. I suddenly felt the heat rise to my cheeks again. I quickly looked away hoping to hide my blush from her.
"I..It's nothing..." I stammered. Actually, Miku had always been the nicer person in my eyes. She could get along with everyone in class due to her sweet and cheerful personality. Not only that, she was always willing to lend a helping hand to other people, even if they were someone she didn't know. I heard Miku stand up and turned towards her, only to find her cupping my face in her hands.
"Are you alright Len? Your face is red and a little hot as well! Do you have a fever?" Miku stared at my face intensely. I stared at her for a while before realising the situation I was in. I took her hands off my face, "N...n...Nothing Hatsune-san!".
Does she feel no embarrassment at all doing this to a guy? I glanced at Gumiya and saw him talking to Gumi. Gumi, being the violent girl she was, was busy slapping Gumiya's shoulder hard while laughing. I figured he had already gotten used to her behaving like this, being childhood friends. Gumiya turned his head towards me gave me a suggestive wink.
I felt like slapping him. He was making me blush even more. Usually, I wouldn't mind his stupid teasing, but Miku was standing in front of me! I turned back towards Miku patiently standing beside my table expecting me to say something.
"You mentioned you haven't found your key chain?" I desperately tried to change the subject and recompose myself. When was Shion-san planning on returning it to Miku?
"No..." Miku murmured, "Will you help me keep a look out?"
"Actually... Shio-" I tried explaining. Before I could finish my sentence, the bell rang, signalling the end of recess. Everyone scampered back to their seats like usual. I looked at my lunchbox and quickly stuffed the remaining rice into my mouth.
"Ah, class is starting, that's too bad. See you later, Len!" Miku exclaimed as I kept my lunchbox in my bag. I could only give her a nod and a slight wave. She then skipped back to her seat, her pigtails swaying gently with every step she took. I missed the chance to tell her.
Miss Megurine walked into class again. Next period was Math, my least favourite subject. "This is going to be another long day... " I murmured as I rested my head on the back of my hand and looked out the window. The sky was clear, not a cloud in sight.
I wonder when Shion-san was going to return Miku's keychain?
Wait, does she even know who the key chain belongs to? Oh dear...
...
...
Finally, it was the last lesson of the day, P.E. The guys and girls went their separate ways to respective toilets to change into the proper attire for the next lesson. Loud chattering filled the corridors.
Just then, lightning flashed. The sky turned dark and rain began to fall. The weather was just bright and sunny just now, when did it become so dark? Suddenly, rain began pouring from the skies heavily. Everyone groaned.
"Awww... I was looking forward to playing outdoors today..."
"This sucks..."
"Are you serious?"
Everyone continued lamenting while squeezing inside the toilet to change. The smarter few, such as myself, waited for the toilet to become less crowded before going inside to change. However, when I finally finished changing, I realised I was the last one left. I panicked, I was going to be late! So much for being 'smart'.
I paced quickly along the corridor towards the sports hall at the other building. (I can't run along corridors, damn it!) As I sped-walked past the PE storage room, I noticed Miku inside. She stood on a stool, trying to reach for a box of volleyballs above a metal shelf. The teacher must have asked her for help.
I was glad that I wasn't as late as I thought. I began pacing towards her, preparing to lend her a hand when I saw Rin Shion inside as well. Upon closer observation, I realised Shion-san seemed to be talking to Miku... Suddenly, Miku lost her balance
/and fell backwards, dragging the heavy shelf along with her.
"Hatsune-san!"I yelled and ran towards her. Miku was going to get hurt!
BAM! A loud sound resonated.
I ran as fast as I could inside the storage room. Miku was lying on the ground groaning in pain. The box had toppled over and there were volleyballs everywhere on the ground. Shion-san stood beside the shelf, sustaining the shelf from falling with her left arm. Using her right hand, she slowly pushed the shelf back to its original position. How in the world did she do that?!
She's so strong! One would usually be screaming in pain right now but she still managed to keep an expressionless face! What the heck is her body made of?! I quickly went to help Miku up. "Miku! Are you alright?!" I exclaimed while helping her up.
"I...I'm fine" she stood up weakly, her legs wobbling slightly. Her face slightly pale in colour.
"Hatsune-san," I heard a soft, unfamiliar voice. Miku and I turned towards Shion only to find her glaring fiercely at us. Both of us jumped seeing her dark expression. She is definitely angry! I've never seen her this mad.
"S..Sorry!" Miku whimpered before I quickly brought her out of the storage room. I could tell that Miku was scared of Shion. I decided to help her to the Nurse's office while supporting her weak body. Before exiting the storage room, I glanced back at
Rin Shion who continued glaring at us. Did Shion cause the accident? What did she do to Miku? Miku could be hurt because of her.
You're horrible, Shion," I said spitefully as I looked over piercingly. I turned around and made my way to the Nurse's Office.
Rin P.O.V
I stared at the both of them as they walked out of the storage room. Was Hatsune-san going to be alright? I looked at the leek keychain dangling in my left hand.
I knew it... I just can't...
I caressed my left arm, which I used to stop the shelf from falling. My arm kind of... hurts.
Yay! Another chapter finished! It was quite a long-winded chapter and I apologise for that but hey look on the bright side, we finally see Rin's POV! I wonder what really happened that caused Miku to fall? Hehehe... I was very happy when I saw people trying to guess what was going to happen in this chapter haha, even though they weren't really correct. But awesome tries anyway.
Can you guess what's happening in the next chapter? The next one will probably be shorter because I haven't thought about the following plot X(
But anyway this is a major hint and a classic scene in shoujo anime/manga. Try guessing what happens!
Hint: Rin's injury
