Chapter four:

"Keep your mind clear Harry," Divin instructed causing me to sigh and close my eyes again, "Remember your spells can do almost anything if you imagine it. Grasp your magic and let it flow through you. Let it flow through you and imagine it!"

I took a deep breath and did as he asked. I fell into a trance-like state like I always do when I start using a spell for the first time. I gently began to tug at my magic before letting it flow through me. My magic flowed warmly through me as it flowed into my hands like water. I open my eyes as I imagine the magic forming into the spell. Fire flared brightly into an orb and circled around the room for a few seconds before dying. I growl darkly causing Divin to sigh. I turn to him and murmured, "I don't get it. Why can I use Fire magic as well as my ice?"

"Because Ice is your element and it is directly opposite of ice," Divin answered before placing his hand on my shoulder, "In time you will gain the ability to use it, but you must continue to practice,"

"Isn't there something that can help me?" I ask as we walk over to where Yukina and Gira were sitting, "Or at least get me started?"

Divin sighed as I took a seat next to Yukina. She laid her head on my lap as I gently began running my fingers through her fur. He answered, "There is a way, but it isn't a method used very often."

"What is it?" I ask as he turned and walked to another part of his study.

"It is a method that I learned about from the Senior Patronus before me," Divin answered as he began to search for something, "It is a method passed down from each magic using Protector to the next...I did not think I would be giving you this so soon, but I believe you've finally reached a level where you can use this correctly," He finally pulled a box from the wall and walked back over to us, "Here it is,"

He handed me the box. It was a rather simple cherry wood box with a soft blue outline. I ran my fingers over the wood to admire the work before opening the box. My mouth hung open at the sight inside. Atop silvery red velvet sat a beautiful ring/brace thing. The ring was a simple grey band with gold markings etched into it. A ribbon of soft purple metal connected it to the brace. The brace was made of a soft bluish-leather-like substance that glowed faintly in the light. It too had markings etched into it only a soft silvery color rather than gold. White edged the openings to show white fur beneath it. I picked it up and murmured, "It's...beautiful...what is it?"

"It is known as the Vericain," He replied as I caressed the material, "Put it on. It's time for you to use it as I did when I was young,"

"Vericain," I murmured the name as I slipped it onto my right hand, "The guiding hand to the hearts desire...fitting since magic grants most of our hearts desire...the only thing it can't do it bring someone back,"

I gasp in shock as magic flowed around me and became visible. My magic was a frosty bluish green with a few streaks of red and grey mixed in. Yukina gasped as her form glowed a bright frost blue with a few streaks of black. When the glow disappeared, I heard gasps, but could only look at my Guardian with awe. Her white fur now had black tribal markings in two places. I reach out and ran my fingers over the one that looked like a shooting star that ended in a crescent moon. It went from the bottom of her right eye and ended over top of it. The fur was a bit softer than the rest which surprised me, but it made her even more unique. The other was a snowflake that rested on her chest. I smile softly as she stared up at me. Divin murmured, "Amazing."

I turn my head towards him and ask, "What?"

"Look at your shoulder Harry," He ordered causing me to quirk an eyebrow at him.

I looked down at my shirt and found a spot of it had been burned away. On the skin below, a tribal marking sat. A wolfs fang over a small snowflake sat there. A small celtic knot in the shape of a cross sat just under it. The marks took up the top of my shoulder and a bit of the skin below it on the top of my arm. I reached up and gently ran my fingers over it before gasping as a ticklish feeling ran through me. I jerk my hand away and look at Divin, "What just happened?"

"You're even more special Harry," Divin answered with a brilliant smile, "You've been given a chance to do what very few protectors can,"

"And what is that?" I ask as he smiled softly.

"To become a Patronis Venator..." He answered causing my eyebrows to pull together.

"What is a Patronis Venator?" I ask as Yukina whined softly and leaned against me.

"A protector of the highest caliber...of every group of new protectors three are chosen to become a Venator...a hunter of the highest degree," He answered and sighed softly, "I should have known since your skills blatantly broadcast it to the world...It took me until you turned 11 to find out,"

"What will I have to do?" I ask not liking the extra attention it will bring.

"You must head to the Frost Wolves keep to learn about controlling your powers," He answered with a soft smile, "Come we must prepare,"

"What about Hogwarts?" I ask feeling bad that I wouldn't get to go to my mothers school.

"You will go one day, but it will not be for at least 3 years," He answered causing me to sigh and nod, "Let's prepare!"

Time skip three days

"Do you really have to go?" Domeino asked causing me to nod, "You won't forget about us right?"

"I won't," I replied as I picked up my bag.

Domeino's wolf Shikara snorted softly and nuzzled his leg, "He'll be back before we even notice he's gone."

I smile as Andromeda sighed and hugged me, "Don't get killed trying to show off."

"I won't," I murmur and smiled at her.

"I'll see you later," She said as she got up.

"I'll see ya later and make sure you keep the idiots in line," I say causing her to laugh.

She nodded and left to get to her new training session on time with Blade trotting after her. Domeino sighed and watched her walk away. I grinned and clapped him on the back. He sighed again and asked, "Will she ever notice me?"

I grin and say, "It's up to you to make her notice you."

"I'll see ya later," He said as we clasped our hands, "Don't get into to much trouble and find someone to love,"

"I will," I rolled my eyes at him before saying, "Keep Andy safe. We need her after all. See ya later," He nodded and let go of my hand, "Good luck,"

He sighed and walked off to his training session as well. Shikara walked after him and nodded to me with a smile. I grin at her and watch as she took off. I turn to Yukina and she murmured, "Let's get to the Path."

I nodded and we left my room. I turn back and stare at it for a little while before shutting it for who knows how long. We walk through our quarters and I blink back tears as memories of happy times and sad times echo through my mind. I murmur, "It's sad that we're leaving this place...who knows when we'll be back..."

"We must hope that the lady and the mother watch over us," Yukina replied as we pause at the door to look around once more, "We'll come back...there isn't another option...this is our home after all,"

I nod and allow my memories to pull me...

Flashback

I sat with Kara as Jack ran around with a large grin on his face. Kara's face held a smile as she ran her fingers through my hair and watching Jack act like an idiot. our wolves watched with amusement though Kanna wasn't moving around too much due to her enlarged stomach. Kara suddenly gasped and held her stomach causing me to shoot up and Jack to freeze. Kanna followed soon after and together they hissed, "The baby's coming!"

Jack panicked and I ran to get a healer. When I returned, the healer ran in and Jack was thrown out on his ass as the healer hissed, "Stay out here!"

We stood together outside of the room with Bellator. Yukina was the only one allowed to stay due to the fact she was a female. The healers wolf was a male, but he went inside to help out. Jack grumbled, "Why the hell does he get to go in?"

"Because he's a healer," Bellator replied as he stared at the door with an anxious expression on his face, "He's a wolfen healer and will be of use...I hope Kara and my mate make it...damn Kanna I hope you pull through with our pup,"

I gave the usually grumpy wolf a hug as I murmured, "She'll be fine as will your pup. Who knows, The pup may be the babies partner."

"True," He murmured and nuzzled me with a small grin, "Thank you pup,"

I shook my head and murmured, "No problem Bell...Someone needs to stay calm."

I glance at Jack with Bellator and both of us laugh at the panic on his face. The healer stuck her head outside an hour and 15 minutes later, "You may come in now. Both are tired, but fine."

We walk inside and I rush over to Kara. She smiled softly down at me and asked, "Wanna meet your new little sister Harry?"

I nod and she lowered her arms to show me an angelic face. I coo down at the baby and ask, "What's her name?"

"We wanted you to name her," Jack answered as he came around to smile at me.

"Why me?" I ask as I stare at them in shock.

"Because we know that you'll love her more than anything," Kara answered as the baby opened her eyes to reveal the infant blue, "She will be one of your treasure's and we know that you'll pick out a good one,"

I gulp and stare down at the baby. She looked at me and smiled happily. I reach out and ran my fingers over her small tuft of tiger striped hair. I looked into her eyes and saw a bit of flames before nodding to myself. I murmur, "Forsythia...her name should be Forsythia."

"Forsythia?" Jack murmured and looked at me, "What does it mean?"

"It's a type of flower," I reply with a small smile, "It means Good nature, Innocence, Anticipation...I thought it would fit her," I then look at Kara, "Her middle name should be something with fire...she has fire within her,"

She nodded and said, "How about Forsythia Ena-Keegan Lurai?"

"Forsythia Lurai," Jack murmured before nodding, "She has two middle names so if she doesn't like going by her first we can choose either of her middle ones to call her,"

I gave him a small glare, "You don't like my choice in a name?"

"The names fine, but it's a bit long," Jack replied and Kara shook her head.

A chase ensued and we began to run around. Kanna chuckled tiredly next to Bellator as we ran around our quarters.

Next flashback

"Dude! Can I come in?" Domeino asked through the door.

I opened it and he walked in. Forsythia clapped and gurgled as Kanna's pup barked. It turns out I was right and they were partners, but it seemed that the pup would age as Forsythia did. It was a bit of a headache, but it would be worth it later. The pup was a female pup with grey fur striped with orange. Kanna named her Kali because the pup just seemed innocent. I took a seat next to Forsythia who climbed into my lap with Kali. Her eyes had become an interesting shade of Blue with a light grey outline. I look at Domeino as he took a seat and ask, "What's up?"

"Do you like Andy?" He asked with a serious look on his face.

"As a friend," I answer before looking closely at him, "Do you?"

He nodded and I smiled at him. He looked away, "I like her... a lot."

"Then tell her," I say causing him to shake his head.

"I can't," He replied.

"Why?"

"Because...what if she doesn't like me?"

"You still gotta try,"

"But..."

"Why don't you just think it over...everything better when you think things through," Well most of the time.

"Harry?"

"Yes?"

"Will you keep this a secret?"

"Always,"

He stood up and left. Another knock sounded and Andromeda walked in, "What's up with Domeino?"

"He needed some help with something," I then cock my head to the side, "What's wrong?"

"I...I like Domeino," She answered causing me to freeze.

"Wow," I murmured and felt Yukina's agreement, "What's the problem?"

"I...don't think he likes me," She answered causing me to want to facepalm.

"Andy tell him," I say causing her to blush and shake her head.

"I can't!" She exclaimed causing me to sigh, "I...I just..."

"Andy take some time and think things through...who knows...he may feel the same,"

She nodded and headed off. Yukina padded up to me and murmured, "Humans are confusing."

"Humans in love are confusing," I retort causing her to shrug, "Let's continue watching these two,"

Next Flashback

"W-what do you mean she's gone?" Was screamed causing me to jerk up from my bed.

Forsythia yelped and clung to me as sat up. I look down at her and put my finger over my mouth. She nodded her 1 year old head and I move to the door silently. Yukina followed and we pressed our ears to the doors to catch the conversation. Divin's voice sounded, "I'm sorry Kara, but she's gone...We've looked everywhere..."

"No..." Kara's voice was broken by sobs.

"Senior Patronis," Jack's voice was cold as it sounded through the door and I shivered, "Please tell me this is just a sick joke,"

"I'm sorry Jack...Kara, but...Clara Bain has disappeared," Divin answered causing me to cover my mouth as tears started to gather in my eyes, "With Dana half dead...it is unlikely that we will be able to find Clara...I'm sorry Kara,"

I felt the strength in my limbs fail me as I gently set Forsythia on the floor and move away from the door. My head hits the wall as a wail made it's way from Kara's throat...Master Clara...no...Tears fell like a river and I heard my door open as Yukina howled. Jack looked at me with sorrow filled eyes. I get up and rush towards him as my tears fell.

Next flashback

"Kara," I murmured as I sat next to her with Dana sleeping at my side and Yukina at my feet, "Do you think they'll find Clara?"

"Yeah," She murmured though her eyes held sadness, "They'll find her...and she'll be alright...she's my sister after all,"

Next Flashback

I stood with Dana as she stared at the door. They had come back with Clara not long ago and now we're waiting for the news. I ran my fingers through her fur as Yukina nuzzled her cheek. I smiled softly just as the healer walked out. He motioned for us to walk in and we did so. The scent of blood hit our noses and we rush over to the bed. Clara's skin was a greyish pale causing me to gasp as Dana whined. Clara looked at us and murmured, "Harry...Dana...I..."

"Clara please...don't go," I whine causing her to shake her head.

"My body is dying Harry," She replied and looked at Dana, "But I will always be with you,"

"How?" I demand of the woman who had been like an aunt to me.

"Dana and I will merge...even if my body is gone...my spirit will always be with you,"

"How?" I ask as tears gather in my eyes, "How?"

"Dana and I are one as you and Yukina are...Dana has chosen you as her next Protector...stay strong together...and I will always be with you..."

Next Flashback

Moonlight shone overhead as I stood with Yukina, Dana, Domeino, Shikara, Andromeda, and Blade. My eyes held fire as I murmured, "Together. No matter what we'll always find a way to return to each other and stand together!"

The words echo from everyone as Dana's voice echoed in the newly formed bond between us.

End of Flashbacks

I shook my head as Dana joined us and we left our home. We walked through town and I murmured, "It feels weird knowing we'll be gone for a while."

"Aye," Dana replied in a soothing voice that I wished could be heard by everyone, "But it will allow us to grow. Come we're going to be late as it is,"

I shook my head as we finally reached the cross roads. Kara hugged me to her chest as Forsythia cried, "Don't go big brother!"

"Little flame," I coo and drop onto my knees in front of her, "I need to, but remember I'll always be a messenger bird away," She pouted and I chuckled before reaching into my bag and pulling out a crystal item, "Keep this with you and remember that I'll always be there when you truly need me,"

She gasped and held it in her hands. The item was a soft crimson dragon with orange eyes that glittered in the light. I had made it a week ago for her birthday, but since I wouldn't be here I wanted to give it to her now. I grin and Yukina murmured, "Push some energy through it."

She did as she was told and gasped as the dragon came to life. I smile and say, "Name her and she'll serve you well."

She nodded and said, "I name you Savanna!"

I grin as the Dragon cooed and curled around her neck before hugging the little girl. I turn and hug Kara again before hugging Jack. They held me close as Divin watched with a small smile. We part and Kara said, "Good luck Harry...oh I wish you could stay."

"Have fun Harry and try to find some love while you're at it," Jack said causing me to roll my eyes, but I nodded.

"I'll try and do my best," I say before backing up, "I'll see you guys again. Try to keep from getting hurt and act like I didn't even leave. I'll be back before you know it!"

They smile and nod before I turn to walk over to Divin. The Senior Patronus hugged me before saying, "Be proud young protector and show everyone that you are one of ours. Show them the might of Vala!"

"I will Senior Patronus," I say with the usual salute.

He handed me the item I would be using to transport, "Good luck Harry Evanson!"

I nod before looking at everyone, "May the lady watch over you and guide you! May the mother warm you with her lover and smile upon you wherever you go!"

I heard an echo of it as the portkey activated. We were swept away and I stared at my home for the last time...I'll be back...and I'll make you all proud!
