Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter
Chapter Seven:
I laid my head on Gabriel's lap as we sat in the Leaky Cauldron. We had just arrived a few hours ago and I could already feel the strain of keeping my magic constantly moving through my body. The reason being that we didn't know what to expect of the wizards and already the hostilities between us had arose. It was lucky for us that the Bar man, Tom I believe his name is, was a protector. His wolf, Sparks, was a raggedy little wolf that looked more like a dog than a great wolf. He was a nice little wolf though and very fierce. He often curled up near the fire or inside of it with his special ability keeping him from being burned. Sparks was one of the few fire elemental wolves this far north. It was a rather interesting subject if you spent the time to study it. I let out a yawn causing Gabriel to chuckle, "Harry why don't you get some sleep?"
"You know I'm not allowed," I groan causing him to shake his head.
"It'll be fine," Gabriel assured me causing me to open one eye to look at him, "If anyone tries to make a fuss, I'll remind them that you're the leader here,"
"Besides with the noise I heard last night, you didn't get much sleep anyway," Hathorn added causing me to scowl at him, "You need better silencing charms with how loud I heard you cry Gabe's name,"
My cheeks flare at the implications causing Hathorn and Gabriel to laugh. I turn away from them and bury my face into Gabriel's stomach. Why do I have to have these two idiots with me? I felt Gabriel's rough and callused hand touch my cheek to trace patterns on it. I sat up and grabbed that hand to trace the calluses there. They were shaped perfectly for the sword that sat on his back. The large sword that he spent hours training just to use. It took him years to master it to the point he could wield it with little trouble. He chuckled and asked, "Why is it that you always do that?"
"It reminds me of how much trouble you went through to wield Henric," I murmur softly as I lean down to kiss the calluses.
"I would go through it again because he was the first sword you made," Gabriel replied fiercely as he removed his hand from my grip, "I will never let the blade be used by another that knows nothing of him,"
I gave Gabriel a smile and leaned forward to kiss him only to stop as the door to the bar opened. It was late at night and the three of us were the only ones other than Tom still up. The reason being that our guide wasn't here yet. I look towards the door with narrowed eyes as the wolves within the room sniffed the air. I caught the scent of the two entering and felt my body relax. The scent of an oak wood forest and mountain air surrounded by a constant storm followed closely by the scent of wolf and shadows. Interestingly enough surrounding both scents was the scent of the dream world. The scent was an odd one that wasn't there one minute, but the next it was. It changed continuously leaving only a slightly archaic scent behind. The scent of magic followed the two as they walked in much like it did those blessed with magic. Gabriel relaxed as he felt my body do the same only for us both to look at Hathorn in surprise as he gasped, "Damn."
I felt intense amusement as he looked at the newcomer in much the same way I had looked at Gabriel last year. The hazy eyes that darted around to take in all aspects of their other half. The same expression appearing on the girls. Gabriel leaned down and murmured, "Mates."
I nodded and murmured, "Let's see what the newest member of our pack looks like shall we?"
Gabriel was silent, but I could feel the amusement radiating off of him. We both took in the new arrival. She was slightly short and on the pixieish side which was enough for me to name her Fea childe in my mind. Her eyes were a mystic, silvery blue while hair was a gentle pale blonde that shone silver in the right light. Her skin was on the pale side, but it was a healthy color. She had slight freckles on her cheeks, but they weren't truly prominent. She wore a light blue cloak that shifted in the wind with the regular armour we all wore. Her wolf walked by her side, but was bigger than most usually were. It's fur was as black as night with slight blue tints to it. It's eyes were a fierce crimson color that spoke of blood and death, and yet beneath that lied a warmth that stirred something in my heart. The words left my mouth before I could stop them, "Shadow. The walker of Never Never."
The wolf's eyes went straight to me. We stared into each others eyes for a long time before he nodded his head and showed his neck in submission. I heard Gabriel gasp and his fingers tighten around my hand causing me to chuckle softly. I rose from my seat causing the staring duo to break out of their revere and look at me. The girl looked at me before spotting the crest that sat over my heart. It was a wolf's fang between two crossed swords with a green diamond behind them. She quickly went into the regular greeting of protectors while stating, "Tsuki Valilpup reporting with my partner Shadow lieutenant Evans!"
"At ease," I told her soothingly causing her to hesitantly drop out of her stance, "You may call me Harry because you are my friends mate," I wave a hand towards Hathorn before pointing to Yukina and Dana, "These are my guardians. Yukina," I gesture to her causing her to puff up her chest, "And Dana," Dana nodded and gave the two a warm look, "The two behind me are the idiot Gabriel Valor," Gabriel glared playfully at my back, "His partner Fenrir," Fenrir looked up from his place on the floor and nodded to the new duo, "The other two are the thinker Hathorn Grail," Hathorn waved and gave Tsuki a smile, "And his guardian Vali," Vali nodded from his place next to Fenrir, "Come and take a seat with us,"
I moved towards my seat and Tsuki followed me hesitantly. I directed her to the open chair across from me next to Hathorn. Hathorn gave her a gentle smile and kissed her hand. He was old fashioned and do things the right way when it came to courting his mate rather than the rushed courting Gabriel put me through. I shook my head softly as Yukina sat down next to me and muttered, "But you loved it."
Ignoring my first guardian, I looked at Tsuki and said, "Let's get some things straight before we turn in for the night. All of us are tired."
Tom walked over with some food as Tsuki nodded, "Agreed."
"Thank you Tom," I took one of the offered cakes and a glass of mulled red wine, "Now do you know why we're here?"
"I only know that I'm supposed to watch over you during the duration of the school year," She answered me as she took some meat cakes and gave them to Shadow.
"I see," I sighed softly, "As you know, a tournament is occurring this year. We," I wave my hand between us, "Have been chosen to guard the students during the duration of it,"
"Not to mention you were picked out by the client," Gabriel added causing me to roll my eyes.
"Who's the client?" Tsuki asked causing me to take out a copy of the mission and give it to her, "Wait Dumbledore's the one that requested you?"
"Yup," I answer with a nod, "You already know why,"
"Because your the boy who lived," She answered causing me to scowl.
"Correct even if the so called scar was taken care of a month into training," I growl causing Gabriel to squeeze my hand, "As it stands, we are to protect the school. If Dumbledore tries to bring me into it, I will not have to compete due to conflicting contracts. He has already signed one with us and all you have to do is sign this," I pull out the sheet of paper listing those participating in the mission along with a blood quill, "It will prevent anyone from trying to mess with you while the mission goes on," A grim smile appeared on my face as the words left my mouth, "It seems that the Wizarding world still has no love for the ones that protect them from the very beast that can and will kill them,"
Tsuki took the quill and signed her name quickly. It's interesting what differences we protectors have with the Bagdari. Not only do we have wolfish tendencies, we also have diffrent colored blood. Our blood is mostly red, but depending on where your from and which element you're close to it will be streaked with a diffrent color. Gabriel's for example was streaked with gold. Hathorn's was streaked with bronze. Mine was streaked with icy blue and had a slight gold tint. Tsuki's was streaked with purple and black. It's interesting how those with more than one element will have two colors rather than one. I shook myself from my thoughts as we watched the contract glow brightly before settling down. It was now a deep black color with all of our names written on it. It was a basic contract that kept all of us from having to deal with people trying to use us. I shook my head and returned the contract to it's place in my bag. I would hand it over to Robin later. I stood up and gave Tsuki a smile as Gabriel yawned, "Let's get to bed Frost."
I nodded my head as he wrapped an arm around my waist, "It was a pleasure meeting you Ms. Valilpup. If you need anything, do not hesitate in asking for it. You're pack after all."
Gabriel led the way to our shared room with our three guardians trailing behind us. We both entered the room and got ready for bed before curling up together. He pulled me close to him as Yukina and Dana curled close to Fenrir. He spoke softly as he traced a finger down my rune and tattoo marked arms, "Things will be interesting won't they, my Frosted One?"
"They will be, but so long as we stay together it will be fine," I murmur softly as I leaned into his embrace, "Please don't tease me right now Arc. I really need to sleep,"
He chuckled, but complied as I began to hum. It was amazing what I could get him to do when I started to hum.
End of chapter. They're short, but it's better than nothing at all.
