It was late morning, the smell of bacon passed through the house as Miranda and Elena moved around the kitchen, continuing to make breakfast. Caroline danced around, singing along with the radio as it blasted out this weeks charts. The brunette grabbed the jug of orange juice from the fridge and poured out three glasses, setting them on the table next to each place mat.
"Breakfast is ready!" Miranda smiled as the blonde grabbed out plates for her, passing them over.
"It smells great mom!" Elena smiled, taking her plate as she sat at the table.
Once all of their plates were ready, they sat at the table and began eating their morning brunch. A lovely combination of bacon, poached eggs and peppered tomatoes. Smiling, Elena took a small gulp of her drink and looked up as the shrilling of the phone rang throughout the kitchen. Jumping up, she hurried over and picked it up.
"Elena Gilbert here," She paused, chewing her lip, "Oh hey."
Twirling her hair around her finger, she pulled at it as she tried to hide how nervous she was and took a deep breath. Seeing her mom and Caroline watching her, she smiled and took no time in rushing out of the kitchen. Miranda and Caroline traded similar looks, confused by Elena's sudden hurry away.
"Who do you reckon that was?" Miranda raised an eyebrow.
"Your guess is as good as mine." Caroline shrugged.
"She seemed...nervous?"
"May have been a business deal, you know how worked up she gets."
"I suppose that's true." She shrugged it off, continuing to eat.
"We'll just ask her when she comes back in, I'm positive it's nothing."
Caroline smiled and finished off her breakfast as Elena walked back in, her cheeks a bright red and an enormous smile. Miranda looked up at her daughter as she took her and Caroline's dishes over to the sink.
"So? Are you going to spill?" The blonde quirked a curious eyebrow.
"I have been asked to make an appearance in New York!"
"Seriously!?" The blonde shrieked, "Who with?"
"Lyla Mosco! The well known Lyla Mosco!"
"The one who won Miss Beauty 5 years in a row!?"
"Yes! The one and the same!" Elena grinned, lifting her glass.
"That's amazing sweetie, well done." Miranda turned to her.
"Thank you mom."
"So, when is it?" Her mom tilted her head.
"This weekend."
"So, when are we leaving?" Caroline smiled in excitement.
"Uhm, were...not?"
"Wait, what?" The blonde frowned.
"I kinda figured I would just go, I mean it's only for the weekend."
"But we always go together." Miranda frowned in confusion.
"Jenna lives in New York, she will help me about."
"Oh?"
"Who's going to do your hair and make up!?"
"I'm sure they have people for that."
"It's weird because they usually call me to set up appearances."
"Ah," Clearing her throat, Elena looked between them, "I have to pack."
The brunette rushed out of the kitchen in a hurry as Caroline drummed her fingers on the table, frowning. Miranda wiped the side down and sat opposite her.
"Something isn't right." Miranda pointed out.
"Tell me about it." Caroline agreed.
Shouting echoed through her ears as flashes blinded her. Covering her eyes, she pushed through the crowd of paparazzi that were waiting outside the airport for her. Smiling, she nodded at them and sighed in relief when she caught sight of the car waiting for her. Moving over, she pulled the door open quickly and got in as the driver put her luggage into the back. Slamming the door shut, she took a deep breath.
"Hello stranger."
"Aunt Jenna!" Grinning, she hugged her tightly.
"You are still the same little troublemaker." She laughed, hugging her back.
"I'll sort it," Elena pulled back, smiling, "Somehow anyway."
"What do you need me to do?" Jenna watched as they began driving.
"Call Lyla Mosco, get me an appearance."
"What? How am I suppose to do that?"
"Tell her I'll offer an exclusive song, a new one, tell her anything. I need to have an appearance."
"Are you sure it was a good idea to lie to your mom and Caroline?"
"Yes. The only time I'd getaway is if she knew it was for work related reasons."
"Right, so you need this for?" Jenna grabbed out a pen.
"Tomorrow, anytime is fine." Elena fluffed her hair up.
"Right, tomorrow," She wrote it on the back of her hand, "Are you in a rush?"
"No rush at all, what did you have in mind?"
"Catch up time?"
"Sounds more than perfect."
The brunette sat on the couch, cradling a hot chocolate in her hands as she picked the tiny marshmallows out and ate at them. Jenna sat down with a glass of wine and took a sip, sighing in relief as she laid her head back.
"So, are you glad to be here?" Jenna questioned her.
"Yes. It's completely refreshing to be somewhere new and exhilarating."
"I felt that when I first arrived."
"Any man in your life?" Elena smiled.
"I may have one." She shrugged.
"Oh my god! Who?" The brunette gasped in surprise.
"His name is-"
Hearing her phone, Elena bit her lip and reached over, lifting her phone off of the table as she checked the caller ID.
"Let me guess, my sister?"
"Worse, my mother." They both laughed.
"Answer it you oddball."
"Heya momma." Elena smiled, leaning her head back.
"Glad to hear that you landed safely."
"Sorry mom, I was supposed to call, but I was smothered by paparazzi and...well Jenna."
"Has she been looking after you?"
"Yes mom, all is well!" Looking at the time, she smiled, "I gotta go mom."
"Right, I love you, be good and lastly, be safe."
"I love you too mom." She hung up.
"Ready to go?" Jenna smiled.
"Yes!" Elena shrieked excited.
The numbers flashed red as she passed each floor and waited. The anticipation was killing her, she was so nervous and giddy. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, waiting for the sound of the bell. Hearing her phone ring, she moaned, deciding to ignore it. She was too tired to make conversation at the moment. Hearing the bell, she smiled big as she wheeled her suitcase along the hallway, the red velvet carpet enticing to her eyes as she checked the room numbers. This was the poshest hotel she had ever stepped in to. It was beautiful. Finding the door number, she took a deep breath, knocking, only for a few seconds until the door was pulled open and brown met blue.
"What took you so long?" Grinning, he pulled her inside and into his arms as he kicked the door shut and laughing was heard through the door.
