Disclaimer: I do not own any Harry Potter characters; they are property to J.K. Rowling.
A/N: So this is actually a story I begun in 2011 and never came back to. I am going to be a dedicated writer, once again. I am 22, so no bedtimes or curfews telling me when I can and cannot write. Aha, check out some of my other stories. They are all Dramonie one shots. This is my FIRST long story. I'm shooting for 15-20 chapters. Anywho, enjoy!
"Tell me, Aunt Ginny! They left their thoughts here for me, so I could know the story between them! Don't I deserve to know? All you ever tell me is how much I resemble them both. How I remind you so much of my mother, yet so much of my father, and yet they were polar opposites. I'm 17 now, I can handle it. Aunt Ginny, please? Please?" the bushy haired blonde pleaded. Her usually, pale skin was flustered. She was slim, a little over five foot five, but when she demanded something she was a force to be reckoned with.
The redhead witch looked at the young lady before her. She had floo-ed to Hogwarts because her niece had called on an urgent matter. They were sitting in the Gryffindor commons room. Nothing had changed in the 17 years she'd last been there. The room still had several lounge sofas, books, tables for studying, and was still dressed in their proud scarlet and gold colors.
"Temperance," Ginny began, "It's not that I don't think you can handle it. It's just...A lot happened. Malfoy and your mother they were so young, they hated each other so much, so there was a lot of heartache, a lot of tears, a lot of pain, but when they fell, they fell hard. The problem is I don't know where their thoughts begin. I don't know if they start when they're already in love or on the day of their first year! There's just some pain that will stay with you forever…" she trailed off.
The bushy haired blonde looked at her aunt with deep brown eyes, "Aunt Ginny, please? I can handle it. I just want to know them. I see pictures of them, but I want to hear them. I want to see them interact…..I want to feel that last battle that took their lives."
Ginny sighed, playing with her fingers as a tear rolled down her cheek, "Temp, I have never watched their thoughts. I do not know what you're going to see. I do not know what your mother felt or what is going to unfold. It's dinner time, so there's nothing I can do tonight. I will speak to Profes- I mean Headmistress McGonagall before I depart. I'll get you a pass to come home-"
"No," Temperance Malfoy interrupted, "I want Rose and Lily and Bill to see. My mom would've been their aunt. I want everyone to see the love that they shared."
Ginny eyes widened, "I don't think-"
"Please?" she interrupted again. "I never ask for much. "
The older woman sighed, rubbing her nose with her head down. 17 years was a long time to be without your bestfriend. Hermione was like the sister she never had. She missed the woman so much. It was nights like these when the young woman sat before her that made her want to breakdown. She was so ambitious like her mother, never taking no for an answer. Merlin only knew what she would give to be at that final battle. To have been there to cover her best friend. To have fought to keep her alive.
"You remind me so much of your mother. So full of life, love, of ambition. I'll talk to the Headmistress and I will be back as soon as I can, but I'm not making any promises. I love you, darling." with that the redhead kissed her niece on the forehead before getting up and walking out into the all too familiar corridors of Hogwarts.
Temperance bounced back to her Head Girl's commons she shared with the Head Boy. The room was warm and dimly lit as she climbed through the portrait. She spotted the Slytherin sleeping in his black robes, much like hers except his had a crest made up of silver and green with a snake proudly on it and a badge that read "Head Boy", his black hair resting on the burgundy couch's arm.
"Wake up, Zabini." she pushed him.
He stirred moaning in his sleep. "What time is it?" he asked groggily, rubbing at his eyes.
"Dinner time." she replied sitting on the floor beside the couch, resting her face on the edge, so that she was eye to eye with him.
"This is going to be an everyday thing, Malfoy, or do you love me already?" he smiled, kissing her nose.
She smiled, her chocolate eyes dancing with humor, "Me? Love you? Oh, Merlin's, no. Why ever would you think that?"
He smiled, kissing her nose again before propping himself up. His shoulders were broad, no doubt from his position the the Slytherin Quidditch team. He laid there for a few moments propped up, looking around the cozy room, his dark eyes focusing. "Well," he finally spoke, "I hoped you would start to fancy me after our late night conversations, but I guess I'm still just a slithering Slytherin, huh?"
Temperance giggled, "Of course you are." She sat up straight and looked at him, "My Aunt Ginny is going to show me my parents' thoughts soon. I'm utterly afraid, yet totally excited at the same time." she beamed at him. "She said my mum and dad hated each other as much as you and I did. Of course, they had reasons to hate each other. You on the other hand, was a simple prat, crushing, Mr. Brandon Zabini."
He chuckled, "That I was, but soon I will tell the whole school how you hexed me and stole my heart. Come, let's go to dinner."
The two got up and quietly exited their private commons. At dinner they both sat at their respective tables, doing as they've done all school year and pretended that nothing was amiss. It was early April and school will be out soon. All the seventh years will be free to do as they please with their lives, that includes being with the person that they rivaled with most in school.
Temperance noticed that the Headmistress seat was empty, hoping it was due to her talking to her Aunt Ginny, and that's when the ghost came swooshing in with announcements.
Across the school, in an office hidden to the average student two women spoke in hush tones. It wasn't completely necessary seeing as no students could hear them, but the paintings were quite old and most were already in a quiet slumber.
"I'm telling you, Weasley to show her now would be great, I agree, but to show her in front of the whole school is out of the question!" the older woman snippet. Her lips were clamped together as if she were sucking on a lemon. Her eyes bulged out of her head and her silvering hair was pulled back into a high bun.
"Professor McGonagall, I think it's time she new. It's better off being made a debut then her having to relive and retell the story if it is too heart wrenching for her. They all deserve to know about the Great Battle, especially the seventh years. Their parents fought that war too, and as much as I hate to admit it, it was Draco Malfoy who ended that barrier between houses." Ginny said sitting across from her old professor, a large oak desk separating the two.
"Professor Dumbledore," the redhead continued now looking at the portrait that sat right above the Headmistress's head, "What do you think of the matter?"
Professor McGonagall turned around in her seat so she too could see the former Headmaster. He had retired after the last battle, helping the Ministry with locating the broken horcruxes and imprisonment of the remaining Death Eaters. He helped the Ministry get back on their feet and made sure the wizarding world was okay before having his soul stuffed into a portrait. Now he sits behind the Headmistress, just above her head giving her wisdom whenever needed.
"I think," the old man began, rubbing his long white beard, "it is up to Miss Malfoy on the matter. We know what actions must be taken to make a baby, we know that the Final Battle against Voldemort was horrific, and we know the sacrifices and pain that came in such times, and fortunately so does she. It is neither my nor your say so's that should determine if our student body knows of a battle that changed the wizarding world forever. I say, we simply "teach"." his eyes twinkled as he remembered thoughts from his time as Headmaster, as he remembered watching all his students grow. " I must be off to bed now. An old man, such as myself needs all the sleep he can get. Goodnight ladies." and with that he walked out his picture frame.
"The old booger," Professor McGonagall muttered knowing his evasive answers all too well. "Sixth and seventh years only are allowed to see this...viewing. Arrange for their thoughts to be merged, as so we can watch them in one sitting. I will send out permission forms to all parents, as I'm sure Granger and Malfoy were...Oh Merlin! I will call for the ghost to announce the event. How does June 1st sound for you?"
The younger woman looked at her past mentor and nodded, standing up as she headed for the door, "Perfect. That way if she's too distraught missing the last week of school won't hinder her from graduating."
Professor McGonagall called out to Ginny, sadness in her voice, " For the sake of Miss Malfoy watching her own parents death, I hope you know what you're doing, Mrs. Potter."
"They deserve to know, Professor." and with that she closed the door behind her.
Brandon Zabini looked up as the ghost came floating through the walls shouting of an event he was sure he wouldn't be interested in. As he dug in his spaghetti he caught wind of a ghost above him, "IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN SEEING THE FINAL BATTLE THROUGH THE EYES OF DRACO MALFOY AND HERMIONE GRANGER PLEASE GRAB A PERMISSION FORM TO OWL TO YOUR PARENTS IN THE GREAT HALL! SIXTH AND SEVENTH YEARS ONLY!"
Zabini dropped his fork from his fingers, letting spaghetti fall from his mouth. He looked up at the Head Girl, his face ashen. She hadn't told him they would be turning it into a bloody field trip. He knew she wouldn't be able to handle her parents being killed right in front of her. Hell! Who could? But to do it in front of a live audience?
He looked in her eyes and nodded. She was going to need him.
Temperance looked up to see her boyfriend looking at her. In front of the whole school?! She thought. The look she was giving him, willing him to read her eyes, to understand what she was thinking, and when he nodded she knew he understood just that.
A/N: This IS a Dramonie Fic so I'm trying to get into that quickly. I'm really excited. PLEASE REVIEW! Give me feedback and pointers, not just "Great story." I love raw truths. Another chapter will be posted by Friday. Be sure to put me in your "Alerts" and check out my other stories.
