Chapter 12 - Welcome Puppies

One Year Later…

Brian smiled as he watched everyone gather around in the living room. The world kept its promise to Santa. Everyone agreed they would ask for one Christmas present per year. Looked like everyone got that one Christmas present they were asking for.

Meg opened her present to reveal it was nothing but a hat. It was the exact same hate that she already had. She took off her old one and put on the new one, not making any sort of difference in her appearance.

Chris opened his Christmas present and pulled out a bunny. The bunny had a smile on its furry white face but that quickly went away as Chris began hugging it tight. That bunny wouldn't last a full year with Chris squeezing the life out of it.

Lois opened her present and smiled as she pulled out a bag of groceries.

"Really?" Barbara asked as she sat in the recliner. "You asked for groceries for Christmas?"

"I didn't see you getting anything", Lois frown.

"Oh I got something."

Brian smiled as he watched Barbara rub her pregnant belly. That was all she asked for. All Barbara wanted for Christmas was to start her own family with Brian. Brian smiled and opened his present. His tail wagged when he pulled out a new flask.

"Brian, you know there'll be no drinking around the pups", Barbara said.

"I know", he answered.

Stewie opened his Christmas present and pulled out a laser gun. Nobody could tell if the laser was just a toy or if it was real.

Peter opened his present and smiled widely. He had finally gotten what he asked for. A Charles in Charge lunchbox. Peter hugged the lunchbox tight.

"Well, that's all our presents this year", Lois smiled.

"Not all of them", Barbara said moaning and grabbing her belly.

"What's wrong?" Brian asked. "Are you alright?"

"Never better", she smiled through the pain. "What you say we get these Christmas presents delivered?"

Brian's tail wagged as he kissed her. Everyone helped Barbara walk to the car and headed to the veterinary clinic.

Barbara panted heavily as Brian held her paw. He had been very supportive in the four hours she had been in labor. She whimpered as she pushed. Brian kissed her cheek.

"It's okay, Barbara", he said. "I'm here. It's almost over."

"Actually, it's over now", the vet said as he held the newborn pup.

"It's over?" Barbara asked. "That's all of them?"

"Every last one of them."

The vet placed the new puppy along the three other pups that were already born. Tears came to Brian and Barbara's eyes as they looked at their newborn puppies. The pups whimpered as they began competing with each other to start nursing. Brian kissed Barbara happily.

"I'm so proud of you", he said. "Four beautiful, healthy puppies."

"Don't thank me", Barbara said. "Thank Santa for making this the best Christmas ever."

The vet opened the door, allowing the Griffins to come into the room. They all smiled as they saw the puppies.

"Aw!"

"Well, Brian you're finally a father", Lois smiled.

"Yeah", Peter said leaning in to whisper in his ear. "Welcome to hell, buddy."

"They look so cute!" Meg said. "What are their names?"

"We haven't named them yet", Barbara said. "Now that they're here, we can name them."

Brian picked up the youngest pup. He whimpered as he moved his head. The poor little guy couldn't see or hear yet. Brian smiled as he petted the fur on his son's body. He had white fur, like Brian's as well as a large round nose.

"How about…Marcus?" Brian suggested.

"Marcus?" Barbara asked. "Hmmm…Marcus, Marcus…sure. Why not?"

Brian put Marcus back with his brother and sisters. He picked up the next pup. For a newborn, she had thick fluffy golden fur. She must've gotten that from her mother. She had a little brown nose she used to sniff out where she was. Brian chuckled as his daughter licked his nose.

"She's cute", Brian smiled. "Why don't we name her Jenny?"

"I like that name", Barbara smiled. "Jenny it is."

Barbara looked at the two nameless pups. Their oldest son squirmed trying to move around on his own. He had thick golden fur like Barbara's but his paws were white. He had Brian's round nose and floppy ears. The puppy whimpered as he moved his head, not sure of where he was. Barbara kissed his little head calming him down.

"He's quite the adventurer", she said. "Let's call him Ollie."

Brian smiled as he picked up Ollie and put him back with the rest of the pups. That just left one daughter without a name. She seemed pretty well-behaved. She was already curled up beside her mother sleeping. She looked a lot like Brian with his white fur, round nose and floppy ears. Only difference was her fur was thicker than his. Barbara smiled as she thought of a name.

"Briana", she said. "We'll call her Briana."

The pups gathered close to Barbara as they all curled up for a nap. The Griffins smiled as they watched. Brian and Barbara finally had a family of their own, all thanks to Santa Claus.
