Here, I revised, reedited this so now I am redoing this whole thing. Yes I know its all very confusing, but I am sorry. But all will be revealed soon, so it's almost done...I think. LOL
Well Enjoy!
When Kurt arrived at the hospital, he saw Blaine sitting in a rocking chair, feeding Devon, slowly falling asleep himself. Kurt grabbed a blanket draping it carefully over Blaine.
Kurt then walked over to Mackenzie's isolate. He looked down, noticing how small she seemed with all of the tubes and wires sticking out of her.
"Kurt?" he heard someone whisper. He turned around and saw his mother-in-law standing behind him.
"Hi Kate." he replied, softly. "Have you heard anything new about her?"
Kate shook her head sadly. "I'm sorry Kurt, I haven't."
Kurt nodded and turned back to look at his daughter.
Kate moved closer and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "She's a fighter. She's going to get through this."
Kurt sighed. He didn't know what to say. "You should go back to the house and see Cory and Elizabeth."
"Kurt, you know I don't-" she started but Kurt cut her off.
"Jack and Cooper may need you now. I really appreciate you being here, but I think its best if Blaine and I were the ones to stay here." he suggested.
"Kurt," came Blaine's voice from behind both of them as they turned around. They saw Blaine placing Devon in his bed.
"Blaine, I didn't mean to wake you." Kurt said, embarrassed.
"Kurt, I know you're angry at what's going on but its nobody's fault." Blaine stated.
Kate shook her head. "No, its fine. I'll go back to the house. I'm sure your father and brother are waiting crying just as much as the babies are." she teased. "Just call when you want us to help bring Emma and Devon home." Kate grabbed her jacket and headed for the door.
"Mom wait." Blaine started to say, but Kate had left. He turned towards his husband. "Are you happy now?"
"Blaine, please be keep your voice down." said Kurt softly.
Blaine grabbed Kurt's hand and led him out into the hallway.
"What the hell is going on with you Kurt?" Blaine seethed. "I know you're angry and sad. So am I, but I'm not taking it out on my parents."
Kurt nodded. "I'm sorry. It's just that when you called me, I had all these scenes going through my head and...and I got scared."
Blaine nodded and pulled Kurt into a hug. They both started crying.
Neither man knew how long they were standing in the hallway. They pulled away from each other and wiped their eyes.
"Why don't we go back in and be with our kids?" Kurt suggested.
Blaine nodded. "That sounds like a good idea."
They took each other's hands and walked back into the NICU.
Walking back into the NICU, Blaine and Kurt checked on Emma, Devon and Henry, who were peacefully sleeping.
"I can't wait until we have all of them home." Blaine admitted.
"I know. I'll be happy when they're all not on any machines." Kurt agreed.
Throughout the night Kurt and Blaine were trying to get used to what it would be like when all six babies would be home while they fed and changed Devon, Emma and Henry.
The next morning came all too quickly. Blaine was still sleeping in the rocking chair, holding Henry and Devon, as Kurt began to wake up with Emma in his arms. He carefully stood up, placed her over his shoulder and walked over to Mackenzie.
"Hey little girl. How are you this morning?" Kurt whispered.
Emma started to move slightly in Kurt's arms. "Oh, do you want to see your sister? Ok." He moved Emma so she could get a better look at Mackenzie.
Blaine and Kurt hoped all of the kids would be close growing up. After a few minutes of showing Emma to Mackenzie, Kurt walked back to where Blaine was sleeping. He held Emma in front of him, making made her give Blaine a sloppy kiss on his cheek.
Blaine began to stir, turning to where he was being kissed. He opened his eyes wide. "Hey!" he squealed. "I thought that was you."
Kurt shrugged his shoulders. "I thought it would be a nice surprise for you to wake up to."
"It was." Blaine smiled. "How did you sleep?"
"Ok." Kurt shrugged. "I couldn't stop thinking about Cory and Elizabeth at home and Mackenzie." Kurt admitted.
Blaine nodded in understanding. "I know. But I'm sure my parents and Cooper did a great job taking care of them and spoiling them too."
Kurt laughed.
Throughout the day Blaine and Kurt stayed in the NICU, calling home to check on Elizabeth and Cory, waiting for any news on Mackenzie. While Kurt was feeding Devon and Blaine was changing Emma, they heard a loud beeping noise coming from Mackenzie's bed.
"What does that noise mean?" Kurt asked frantically.
"It's ok." said Alexis, as she came up to the bed. "It just means that her IV is empty. I have a new one right here." she held up the full IV bag to show them.
Both parents breathed a sigh of relief, watching as Alexis changed the IV bags. After the IV was changed, Alexis went to check on another baby.
"Alexis!" Blaine yelled softly, so as not to disturb the other babies.
Alexis turned around quickly. "What is it?"
"Look." he pointed at Mackenzie, who started moving legs.
Alexis quickly grabbed her stethoscope and checked the little girl's heart beat.
"She's ok right? I mean she's moving so she's ok now, right?" Kurt asked quickly.
Alexis held a hand up to keep him from talking as she continued to examine Mackenzie.
After what seemed like forever to Blaine and Kurt, Alexis was finished examining Mackenzie.
"I'm going to go call the doctor and see if we can get the tube taken out of her mouth." she declared, as she walked away.
Blaine and Kurt looked at each other and smiled.
