Kurt couldn't wait to get home. Being back at work was draining and all he could think about was his family. He stayed in his office with the door closed and ate the homemade lunch he made that morning. Kurt picked up the phone to call Blaine.
"Hello?" Blaine asked after a few rings.
"Hi, its me." Kurt replied.
"Hey you." Blaine answered. "How's your first day back?"
Kurt sighed. "It's ok."
Blaine frowned. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." Kurt lied.
Blaine glared at him through the phone. "Really?"
"I wish I want to be home with you and the kids." Kurt started. "and there's the fact when I try to work, someone asks about the babies."
Blaine laughed. "Well, you knew once you went back everyone was going to start asking questions."
Kurt nodded. "True, but I didn't realize it was going to be every two seconds." he admitted. "I feel like a broken record from repeating myself so many times."
Blaine rolled his eyes. "Just remember, in a few weeks everyone will move on and find something new to talk about." he suggested. "Like high school."
"Don't remind me." Kurt teased.
"Soon you'll be yesterday's news." Blaine stated.
Kurt took a deep breath, digesting Blaine's advice. "You're right." he admitted. "So, what are you doing? Are the babies ok? How are Amy and Hannah doing?"
Blaine laughed. "Everything's fine babe." he started. "Amy and Hannah are doing great and everyone's in the living room right now. They're playing on play mats or in their swings."
"That's great Blaine, I'm glad everything's going well." Kurt said, slightly upset.
"Hey, don't sound so upset. Do you want try talking to one of the kids?" Blaine suggested, trying to cheer up his husband.
Kurt's face immediately lit up. "Yes, please, anyone."
"Ok. I've been trying to get them to laugh all day, but no one seems to want to make any noise. Maybe you can try." Blaine insisted. "Here, I've got Devon right here. Say hi."
Blaine placed the phone next to Devon's ear. "Devon, say hi to daddy." he coaxed.
"Hi buddy." said Kurt. "Are you being a good boy for papa?"
Devon looked at the phone and wondered where the voice was coming from.
"Devon it's daddy. Say hi to daddy." Blaine tried again.
"Devon, hi buddy. Are you going to say hi?" Kurt asked.
Devon tried grabbing the phone and putting it in his mouth.
"Ok, buddy." said Blaine, quickly pulling the phone away from the little boy. "Sorry Kurt." he apologized. "He was trying to put the phone in his mouth."
"Oh, that's ok. At least I got to say hi to him." Kurt replied.
"Yeah, and he was looking at the phone like 'who is that?'" Blaine teased.
"Aww. That means he's recognizing my voice." Kurt replied.
Devon started becoming fussy and let out a big yawn.
"Kurt, I think Devon's getting tired." Blaine insisted. "I should try to get them down for their afternoon nap."
"Oh, ok." Kurt said sadly.
"I'll see you when you get home. I love you." Blaine said before hanging up.
Kurt couldn't have been happier to leave work that evening. Grabbing his jacket and messenger bag he quickly headed out of the door. Kurt drove out of the office parking garage and headed home.
Driving home, Kurt kept thinking how this was his life now. Everyday, while he went to work Blaine would stay home with the kids along with the nannies.
Kurt pulled into the driveway, grabbed his bag and got out of the car. He walked up the walkway and into the house.
"Hello! Daddy's home!" Kurt called.
"We're in the living room Kurt!" Blaine called back.
Kurt shrugged off his bag and jacket and went into the living room. Smiling at the sight of his husband on the floor surrounded by their six children. Blaine looked up at Kurt.
"Hey, how was the rest of your day?" Blaine asked.
Kurt smiled and sat down next to Blaine, who was holding Elizabeth. "It was ok." he replied, reaching for the little girl in Blaine's arms.
"Well, I have a surprise for you." Blaine grinned, handing Elizabeth over.
"A surprise?" Kurt asked, quirking an eyebrow. "What kind of surprise?"
"Hang on, you'll love it." Blaine replied. "I've been trying all day to get the babies to laugh." he continued, picking Henry from the baby swing. "And you will never guess who the first one was."
Kurt started kissing Elizabeth then looked back at Blaine. "Well, since you're holding Henry, I'm going to take a wild guess and say it was him."
Blaine smiled. "Just watch." he said. "And listen."
Kurt smiled at Blaine.
Blaine placed Henry on the floor in front of him and began tickling his belly. When that didn't work, he lifted his shirt and started to blow raspberries on his tiny belly. Kurt and Blaine soon heard a loud giggle come from the tiny boy and Kurt's eyes went wide.
"Oh my goodness!" Kurt exclaimed. "Blaine, he's the first one to laugh."
Blaine smiled and nodded. "I told you I had a surprise for you."
"Aww." Kurt cooed.
"Now, watch this." Blaine added, then trying to eat Henry's toes which made him go into more of a giggle fit. "He's the only one that thinks their papa's funny."
"Don't worry sweetie. The rest of them will soon follow Henry's lead." Kurt insisted.
