Chapter 18
Another update tonight! As always please r&r! Enjoy! - SnowandStark
Over the next few weeks I stayed in my tent as much as possible. I felt so confused, Robb seemed so angry that I was with Gwaine and neither of them had even bothered to see if I was alright. The only people that had come to see me were Theon and Jory. They would come just after meal times with food for me, in return I told them everything about my life in Camelot. They were very understanding and quickly realised that Gwaine and I had a past together. They would sit with me for hours while I just talked to them about Camelot. They both seemed very intrigued to find out about my home. Jory had filled the hole that Eddard had left, in the form of a father figure. I just hoped that he wouldn't be taken away from me like Ned was.
After a month of staying in my tent someone other than Theon and Jory came to my tent. Theon had been sent off to talk to his father and nobody had heard anything from him in weeks. There was a timid knock at the door and the silhouette of a lean man outside. I got up and walked over to the door, opening it just enough to see what the man wanted. As I opened it I saw that it was one of Robb's runners. He looked shocked when he saw me, I obviously looked rather rough. I hadn't slept properly for well over a month and it was seriously starting to show, I had also lost a lot of weight, most of it being muscle seen as I hadn't really moved for a month. "Yes. What do you want?" He seemed to realise who he was staring at and shook himself. "M'lady, the King wishes to see you in his war room. He says it is urgent." I let out a loud sigh and followed the runner to Robb's tent. He stopped at the door and opened it for me, light from inside poured out ominously. I took in a deep breath, squared my shoulders and lifted my head high before entering the tent with as much grace as I could muster. As soon as I entered the entire room went silent, everyone in the room turned to face me. Shock was clearly plastered on some of their faces but some of them hid their emotions well. Robb was the last person to turn around and he looked the most shocked of all. "You wished to see me m'lord." He stiffened slightly at my tone.
"Yes I did. We are leaving for the Twins. We need Walder Frey's support if we are to win the coming battles. You and your army will not be coming with us." He turned to his map. I felt like I had been slapped, he was leaving me again. I took a step forward and raised my voice. "Have I done something to wrong you my lord?" Robb ignored me and carried on talking.
"You will be reinstated as the Queen of Camelot, as is your rightful place and you will lead your army to the Wall. They need our help." By this point I was fuming, I looked around the small room and noticed that my main knights were stood on the edge of the room, including Gwaine and Merlin. "I am not going anywhere Robb. You do not control me!" He turned to me, anger on his.
"You will do as I say Kayla or I will have to see you as a threat to my people and my throne!" By this point my knights and Jory had moved to my side muttering under their breath. Also Emrys and Draco had barged their way into the tent, breaking several things in their haste to get to me. I felt completely broken. "Have I somehow wronged you so badly that you no longer love me? You are my brother and you would see me hidden at the Wall out of your sight, like a pain?" By this point tears were streaming down my face. Robb still didn't answer he simply stared at me. "WHAT HAVE I DONE?" I screamed at him, finally having had enough. He advanced on me, quicker than a flash.
"I love you Kayla and I would do anything to protect you. I am going somewhere that I fear there will be trouble. I cannot let you go, not in this state." I sighed and looked up at him.
"I do not need my strength to protect myself Robb. I have something that is more powerful than any sword. I have magic, I can look after myself." Robb looked stricken,
"But I thought that was just a myth." I shook my head and turned to Mordred and Merlin. They both stepped forward. "Magic is still alive Robb. It has been for a long time. I'm coming with you, even in this state I can still protect myself and all the people that I hold most dear." He seemed to soften slightly and he took my hands in his. "Show me." I nodded and took a step back. I raised my hand and muttered a word and a ball of fire erupted on my palm. Everyone in the room were amazed. Robb's mouth dropped open and he passed his hand over mine, as if he was making sure the fire was real. I closed my hand and the flames were extinguished. "Mordred and Merlin also have magic like me and they too have had to hide it their entire lives, but no more. I have had enough." Robb nodded, it looked as if he had finally conceded. "Fine you can come but first we will give you your rightful title. For too long has Camelot gone without a leader. It is time for a new era to begin." I smiled and pulled Robb into my arms, I felt so relieved that he no longer hated me. He squeezed me lightly before letting me go. I saw him look behind me and nod, I turned around and saw Gwaine stood there looking rather sheepish. I looked back at Robb and he put his head down close to my ear. He whispered, "Do not be too harsh on him I forbade him from going anywhere near you." I looked up at Robb with my mouth in an 'O' shape. I scowled and punched him in the arm. "Owww." He held his arm in mock pain and gave me a shove towards Gwaine. I stumbled forward and was about to fall over when a large pair of hands grabbed my waist securely. Gwaine pulled me to his chest and wrapped his arms around me. He was about to say something when I put my finger over his mouth in a silencing move. He looked down at me and a smile spread across his face. "You never could stay angry at me for long." I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips to his. He quickly relaxed and the kiss deepened. Cheers could be heard around us as it seemed everyone wanted us to be together. We broke apart and my face immediately went bright red. I hid my face in Gwaine's arm and I could feel him laughing. That night everything was back to normal and everyone enjoyed a large feast, but I couldn't shift the feeling of an impending doom, looming over us all.
Over the next couple of days we slowly made our way towards the Twins. We had had a small coronation where I was christened as the new Queen of Camelot, it felt very strange to think that I was a Queen now, that I had my own people. Gwaine had been training me, trying to get my muscle back. Today was no different. I was asleep in bed when I heard movement inside my tent. Thinking nothing of it I rolled over and went back to sleep, mumbling slightly. All of a sudden I felt my bed dip down slightly and a pair of arms wrap around my body. I tensed slightly expecting and attack but soon recognised the smell of Gwaine. I sighed and snuggled next to him. I heard him sigh next to me. He moved and I felt him kissing my neck, I let out another sigh and he continued for a few seconds. I opened my eyes and looked up at him. He was wearing a loose shirt and his strong chest was on show. I turned so that I was facing him. This time he captured my mouth and we kissed for a short time before he let out a loud sigh and pulled away. "As much as I would love to carry that on further, you need to train." I grumbled and rolled over, covering myself with my blanket. Gwaine grabbed me and started to tickle me mercilessly. I was soon screeching loudly and giggling. He gathered me up in his arms and dropped me on the floor rather unceremoniously. I clambered up from where he had dropped me and plastered a scowl on my face. I ignored him and walked over to my chest, picking out my training gear. I started to get changed right in front of him, mainly to wind him up and could soon hear a loud groan and my tent flap opening quickly. I laughed to myself and finished getting ready.
