WILL YOU MARRY ME PLEASE SO THAT I CAN DITCH MY MANWHORE OF A HUSBAND?

With so much love that it leaks from my pores,

Mary Sue

LOCAL SHOP OWNERS FIND BODY IN DIPLAY WINDOW

Unknown woman may have ties to Arkham Asylum

By Marcus Fowler

Gotham Herald Correspondent

Owners of the costume shop Alter Ego found the body of a woman in the main display area of the store yesterday morning, marking Gotham's fortieth homicide this month.

Store owner Jermaine Prattner and his wife Louise made the discovery an hour before the store opened. Prattner found the woman's body propped up among mannequins in the front window, facing pedestrian traffic on 139th Street, in The Narrows.

"When I walked to the front of the store, I sensed immediately that something was off with the display," Prattner said. "There was one-too-many mannequins in the window."

The woman was dressed in an Old West saloon girl outfit, propped up at a card table where male mannequins dressed as cowboys were arranged to simulate a poker game. "The Dresden Theater just down the block has been running John Wayne movies all week, as part of an Old Westerns movie marathon," Prattner explained. "We decided to piggy-back on that theme for our main window display."

Gotham Police would not allow any further details about the crime scene to be released.

Some pedestrians who gathered before police arrived claimed to have seen facial wounds similar to a 'Chelsea grin' on the deceased woman's face.

One eye witness shared what she saw. "Yeah, I seen it before the cops covered the scene up from view. She had, like, those scars next to her mouth. Like the Joker? There was a lot of blood on her face. And on her body. It looked like she had been stabbed lots." The witness declined to give her name.

Her friend, who also requested anonymity, concurred. "At first, it just looked like a bunch of dummies sitting at a card table, dressed like cowboys and stuff, playing poker. All of them were holding cards, including the woman. But it looked wrong. All her cards were facing the window, so people could see them. They were all Joker cards."

"She had one of those hospital bracelets on her wrist," said a man, who also declined giving his name. "Bright orange, like they have at Arkham. I know I saw green strands of hair that the wig didn't cover up completely. I think she had dyed her hair green."

"This store is now the scene of a homicide investigation," said Detective Stephens, from Gotham's Major Crimes Unit. "We're still gathering facts and collecting evidence. We won't make any formal announcements to the public until we've finished." When asked if there could be any connection to the Joker, he declined to comment.

Stephens was present at the MCU when the Joker made his deadly escape last year, taking with him an alleged accountant to the Mob, whose body was later found burned in a warehouse at the East Wharf.

Prattner said the store will open up for business as soon as the police have concluded their investigation. "Sick thing is, a crime like this will probably draw more people into our store. It inspires a sort of morbid fascination."

When asked if he thought there could be a connection to the Joker, Prattner visibly shuddered. "I hope to God not. Whatever happened to that girl, she suffered. And we live right upstairs," he said, pointing to the second-story windows. "No alarms ever went off. We didn't hear a thing."
