As the carriage carrying the Phantomhive /Michaelis Troupe crossed into the Swiss Alps; Sebastian was on high alert. The Swiss Alps were a prime place for attacks and robberies to occur. Not only did he have his master to protect, he had his mate and children to protect as well.
Nova held her children close, trying to protect them from the cold. She even grabbed extra blankets to wrap them in, not wanting them to become sick. As much as she wanted her brother to be warm, her young children wouldn't be able to withstand the cold like Ciel would. "Ciel, please do leave your coat on," she said as she noticed him shivering.
"I don't need it, L-lords do not get c-cold," he said through chattering teeth. Nova rolled her eyes sat next to him and placed his outer coat on him. "Nova please…you're patronizing me…" he blushed and looked away. "Does it look like I care," Nova said as she adjusted Lilith and Damien in her arms. Ciel just huffed and lay his head on her shoulder.
Sebastian held back a smile, trying to stay stoic whilst watching them. "Master, she isn't patronizing you. It's called caring for someone." Ciel just rolled his eyes and began to fall asleep. Nova smiled and hummed a lullaby for her babies so they would too fall asleep. "You are a good mother, my dearest," Sebastian said as the carriage began to stop. "What the hell?" Nova said looking out the window.
Sebastian left the carriage to see the problem and saw their driver was gone. Nowhere to be found. "What in the name of hell…" he spoke softly. He didn't know the driver well but it was strange for him to have just disappeared. But seeing as they were now prime targets stopped, he took the reins and moved forward. "Sebastian…this doesn't feel right," Nova said worriedly; clutching her children to her chest. "Fear not Nova, no harm will come to you, Ciel, or our children.
Though the words were sweet, Nova did not feel any better. She felt this darkness looming over her. More so than normal.
As they traveled through the Alps the roads got progressively worse, becoming bumpy and rocky. The shaking woke both Ciel and the twins, and caused the twins to cry. "Ciel…turn away please," the mother said as she placed a blanket over her shoulders. Ciel nodded and did so, not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable. Nova fix herself and let her children feed; hoping that it would calm them down and make them fall asleep once more.
"Sebastian, how much longer until we are out of the wretched mountains," Ciel groaned and complained. "Soon my Lord, we have only ten miles of this mountainous terrain left," he spoke promptly. Ciel sighed and looked back to Nova once she was done feeding her children, she appeared tired and worn out. "Nova…I can hold them…if you must rest," he offered. She yawned and shook her head, "I need to stay awake to protect you." Even as a demon, a mother still grows tired as her children drained excess small souls from her as well as milk when they fed. "No, you are drained of energy. You are no use to me tired. Now give me the children and sleep" he said almost glaring at her. Nova sighed and handed over the two small bundles and laid down in her seat, "Grazie.." she barely got the word out before knocking out.
Ciel felt a little awkward holding them, as they barely knew him and squirmed around. "I know you want your mother but she is exhausted.." he said trying to stop their squirms. Damien whined and grabbed at Ciel's hair, while Lilith just laid their glaring at him. "Jeez...how does Nova do this..." he said as he began to rock them slowly.
"If you sing to them young Master, they will likely fall asleep," Sebastian said. Ciel swallowed hard, "W-what do I sing?..." Sebastian chuckled, "I will started the song and you can join in." He began to sing the lullaby that Nova wrote for them and them immediately tuned into it. Litlith clapped her hands together and laughed and Damien cooed and sucked on his thumb. Soon after Ciel joined in and attempted to catch all the words and smiled weakly at the twins.
After a few minutes the babies fell asleep and Ciel sighed, "Remind me to never procreate..."
The suddenly the carriage was jolted and pushed off the road. Nova shot up and immediately went into "mama bear" mode and protected her brother and children. Her eyes began to glow red. Sebastian sounded as if he was conversing with someone outside but the carriage started moving again. Nova noticed the terrain was more rugged and heard the clip holding the horses onto the carriage unhinge.
The horses ran off and Nova felt the carriage sliding forward. "Oh no..." she pulled Ciel to the back of the carriage and placed her children in a shawl she wrapped around herself. "Nova what the hell just happened?!" Ciel yelled. "Don't move a muscle..." she said quietly. "We're being attacked...and we're are dangling over the edge of a cliff..."
