Part Three

"Well~, we got loads of intel from them."

Toukichirou merrily sang.

After that incident, the men became more lively and when the drinks came around, a small banquet began with the drunkards.

"Are you are okay now…? Toukichirou-san."

Kasane worriedly asked as he continued walking in unsteady steps.

Kasane was offered to drink, but who knew what a certain tyrant would say when he sees them both drunk, so she avoided the sweet temptation.

"This is part of the job."

He teasingly smiled.

Kasane replied with a forced smiled.

"It would have been better if little missy also joined in."

"Well who knows what Tono-sama will say afterwards..."

"You're so honest."

While exchanging idle words, a group of young ladies came up before them.

Kasane went, "Ah…." and rubbed her forehead.

As a womanizer, not to mention drunk, she thought he would go up to pick them up.

However, Toukichirou only gave them a small glance and passed them without a single word.

Kasane immediately became puzzled and sent a doubtful gaze at him.

"? What's wrong?"

"Huh… is that okay? For you to not call out to them?"

Toukichirou spilled out a wry smile.

"Even I wouldn't act as an indecisive, unrefined man if I have a cute escort with me."

He grinned.

Kasane suddenly turned red at his remark and quickly avoided her eyes from his.

"Well, little missy was so brave, that I have no standing as a man though."

He dryly laughed.

Kasane puffed out her cheeks as if sulking.

"That's because Toukichirou-san suddenly picked up a fight… I thought that I had to protect you."

"...Little missy is really cool. There's not many men out there that get protected by the ladies. I just might fall for you."

"But Toukichirou-san seems to fall for a lot of people right?"

"Ahaha, that hurts."

Toukichirou clowned as Kasane grinned.

"You know, little missy, I… don't have much confidence with my physical strength, but I wouldn't let little missy out into danger… Unlike someone."

He softly muttered, Kasane tilted her head in confusion.

"...It seems that you've went on your first battle campaign earlier."

"Eh? Ah, yes. The war with Mino…."

"...Nobunaga-sama is a man of great temper. As long as he finds anyone useful, he would even send off a girl out to the battlefront… I am worried for you, little missy."

Toukichirou said with an unusually serious face; Kasane straightened her back.

"If I were in Nobunaga-sama's position, I would never let you go out there."

"Toukichirou-san…?"

He matched her pace and quietly took her small hand into his.

The size of her hand seemed so unreliable, yet she was still sent out to battle, to a place filled with dangers that could kill her. The thought of that alone was unbearable for him.

"...If you happen to become sick of fighting, please come to me anytime for help. Although my social standing is still very humble, I have enough to support you alone."

"Eh? Eh, eh?"

Kasane raised her voice in confusion to his proposal-like suggestion.

"Little missy, if…"

"Ah! There they are!"

Just as he began to approach her, his words were suddenly cut off.

"Ah! So you were in this sort of place."

"Gorouza-san, Inuchiyo-san, Kuranosuke-san."

Across the street were the usual group of three.

The three of them looked at them.

"...Why is everyone here?"

Toukichirou asked as he frowned.

"You were coming back so late, so Nobunaga-sama had ordered up to pick you two up…"

"Nobunaga-sama huh…"

He wryly smiled at that.

As usual he would do something like sending people at his discretion during this time. It's as if he had foreseen everything beforehand.

"Now then, let us return back to the castle before it gets dark."

Gorouza said to Kasane and Toukichirou.

Toukichirou huffed a small sigh and looked at Kasane.

"...Shall we run away, little missy?"

"Huh?"

As Toukichirou whispered in a soft almost inaudible voice, Kasane owlishly looked up at him.

"Come, little missy!"

"H-huuuuh!?"

Taking no notice of the puzzled Kasane, he took hold of her small hand and pulled her with him as he broke out into a sprint.

The three idiots stared bewilderedly at his actions.

"K-kasane-dono!"

"Ah! They ran off~!"

"Oi… you've got to be kidding me, follow them!"

After a moment of dumbfoundment, the three of them hurriedly chased after them.

"To-toukichirou-san!?"

Kasane called out, wondering what was going on as they suddenly escaped from the group of three.

With one small glance back at the girl he was pulling along, he happily smiled.

"Doesn't it annoy you that you have to follow our lord's every command!?"

When running, the volume of his voice unconsciously raises.

"I still want to be with you, little missy!"

Saying that, he pleasantly laughed out loud. Somehow, she also caught on to his enjoyable mood.

...She must have gotten drunk by the smell of sake.

Although she took no sip of the alcohol, she could have gotten drunk by the fragrant emitting from Toukichirou.

If that wasn't the case, then she wouldn't be blushing nor would her heart be beating so fast right now.

"Okay!"

As Kasane shyly smiled, she clasped her hands tighter to his.

After this, Kasane and Toukichirou returned back to the castle after the sun had long since set… It goes without saying that they came across very raging Nobunaga by then.

I hoped everyone enjoyed this chapter. I remember looking at Toukichirou's early character designs and thinking, "Whoa he looks really handsome!" I could see him gathering a harem with his looks! But back then he looked more like a fox than a monkey. lol. Even though Toukichirou in the manga is a little more goofy and cute, he does have his cool moments.

Sadly this is the only story that pairs him up with Kasane. Maybe someone will write a fanfic about this couple? Maybe? Maybe not?

I have a little more time now so I might be able to update during the weekend. I'll probably update 10 strays next. It's been a while since I translated a story from there.
