Chapter; 18

Hinata got herself together enough to stop and get some lunch. Although she wasn't really in the mood for food she knew she had to do something to keep her mind off of things. After eating she decided to take a walk around the park, it was still light out and pretty nice.

"At least it's a beautiful day." She mumbled to herself. Not like it would have changed things if the day had been horrible. With the news she just got there was nothing that was going to cheer her up. Sighing she sat down under a tree and closed her eyes. How was she going to tell everyone? Oh god, she didn't think Hanabi and Kurenai could take anymore. No, she would not think about things that way. Rubbing her eyes she looked up to the sky. It was hard trying to think positive right now but she had to, for the sake of her family. There was still a small chance she could survive this. The window was small but still possible. With that thought she got up and dust herself off. Hinata was going to start making her way back to her car but something out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. She could see feet sticking out of a bush. She was just going to ignore it and keep going but then she heard groaning. And it sounded like whoever it was, was in a lot of pain. Taking a deep breath she walked slowly closer to the bush.

"H-hello? Are you alright?" She asked stuttering on her words. Suddenly the figure rolled over showing a bit of blonde hair. Hinata continued closer and gasped when she saw the face of the stranger. Laying in front of her was Naruto and he did not look good. He was covered in cuts and bruises, she could even see some burn marks. Shakingly she crouched down next to him and almost stop breathing when she saw the huge hole in his lower torso.

"Oh my God." She breathed out putting her hand to her mouth to keep herself from throwing up. With shaking hands she reached out to check his breathing, and as soon as she touched him a hand shot up grabbing her wrist. Jumping Hinata fell back onto her behind and stared down in horror. Naruto was glaring up at her with blood red eyes. Well glaring only for a moment before he realized who she was. He sighed and let her go.

"Sorry Hinata." He said barely above a whisper. Closing his eyes he tried to take in a deep breath but ended up choking on blood. Hinata snapped back to reality and crawled closer to him.

"A-are you a-alright?" She asked reaching out for him but was hesitant. She's never seen his eyes like that before, honestly she didn't know they could change colors. Naruto opened his eyes and looked back to her, they had returned to their normal blue. He went to talk but only blood came out, and he started choking again. Hinata frowned.

"We need to get you to the hospital." She said trying to help him up.

"Can you walk?" She asked hooking her right arm around his torso, Naruto just nodded. Although he couldn't walk well he could at least stand.

"Okay on three. One. Two. Three." She said pulling him up next to her. He was unstable at first but straightened out shortly. Now that he was standing she could see how deep the hole was, and it was so not good. The hole went right through his lower torso, to the point where she could almost see all the way through him. With every step they made more and more blood trailed behind them, and finally they made it to her car Hinata got him situated in her passenger set before jumping in the driver's side. Hinata started rushing through the streets, going way faster than legally allowed hoping to make it to the hospital in time.

'I hope we make it in time. We're not that far from the hospital now.' She thought trying her best remain calm. Glancing over at Naruto ever few seconds she could see he was barely holding on to consciousness. It took no time at all to make it to the hospital and Hinata came bursting through the door barely dragging a half conscious Naruto. Doctors came running to help her.

"What happened?" She heard a doctor asked as they placed him onto a stretcher.

"I-I'm not sure, I found him in a park not to far from here. He was barely awake and coughing up blood." She rushed out clamping her shaking hands together trying to calm herself. The doctor nodded and turned back to him.

"We'll have to check his vitals but I don't think there's much we can do." He told his team and Hinata was shocked.

'Not much they can do?'

"What do you mean there's not much you can do?" She asked frantically following them down the hall as they rushed.

"I mean exactly what I said, there's nothing we can really do for him." The doctor repeated as the arrived to a vacant room. Hinata's head was spinning. How could they not help him? They were some of the best doctors in the country yet they said there was nothing they could do. She felt dizzy when she saw them take off his shirt and revealed a gaping hole. Holding her mouth she rushed to the bathroom just in time to get rid of all the food she'd eaten. She was slowly losing her mind even more now. This was not what she needed to be around after the news she got today. Looking in the mirror she could see how tired she was, she didn't look like herself anymore. Closing her eyes she took a few deep breaths trying to calm her nerves a bit. Not like it was helping her much right now. Finally after a few minutes she left the bathroom, looking around she saw the doctors had left the room leaving them alone. Sighing she took the small seat next to his bed and stared at him. His eyes were closed and he was taking shallow breaths. It really broke her heart. Here he was right in front of her and she couldn't do anything to help him.

She wanted to hold his hand but felt it would be a bit too much right now. The last thing she should have been thinking of where the feelings she held for him. He was deathly hurt and her feelings would burden him right now. That was something she didn't want, besides she wasn't even sure about her feelings for him anymore. To many years have passed and to much has happen to her for her to be certain about anything. It was all very stressful and confusing. Two things she already had to much of. Hinata's head started hurting and she lifted her hand to her temple. She knew the pain would start soon but she was hopping it wasn't going to be this soon. Noticing a shadow out of the corner of her eyes she turned towards it. Standing in the doorway was an older man, about 45-50 years old. He had silver hair and an eye patch over the other eye. He gave her a small smile, well she guest since he also had a mask over his mouth.

"Thank you for staying with my son." The man said stopping by her, she just nodded. Last she had heard Naruto was an Orphan, though it was nice that he found someone who became his family. The man placed a hand on her shoulder causing her to jump.

"Don't worry, he'll be alright." He told her and received a looked back to Naruto.

"I hope so." She mumbled to herself clenching her hands together.

"How rude of me, My name is Kakashi Hatake. Naruto's father." He said holding his hand out she looked at him and shook his hand. Kakashi could see the blood stained on her hands.

"You should probably get home and cleaned up." He told her helping her stand. She nodded numbly.

"B-but will he really be alright?" She asked looking back to him while she was lead out the room.

"Don't worry, I swear he will be so much better tomorrow. You should come visit him." He said leading her to the exit doors. She nodded holding her hands close to her body.

"Would you like me to walk you to your car?" He asked feeling a bit worried about the girl. She just shook her head.

"No I'm fine. Please just help him." She told him walking slowly away from him.

"Alright, please get home safe."

He saw her nod once again as she got into her car. Taking a few deep breaths before starting her car, she saw Kakashi go back into the hospital. With that she left. All the way home Hinata's mind was spinning, the road became blurry and at that she was very glad they weren't far from her home. She stopped a few times when it was at the point she couldn't see anymore but continued on. It took less than ten minutes since the roads weren't crowded. Once she got in the house she could hear all of her friends and family rushing to her side trying to help and asking her what happen. But she didn't feel like dealing with that right now, all she wanted was to take a shower and go to bed. It was way to much right now and that's all she needed.

"I promise I'll tell you guys tomorrow but right now I need to rest." She told them on her way up the stairs, not stopping once. She didn't wait for their reply, she just rushed to her shower. Standing there she thought back on the things that happened to her that day. Her finding out she was sick and dying, then finding Naruto beaten half to death in the park. Sighing she rubbed her face, she really didn't need this right now. Finishing her shower she dressed quickly for bed and laid down. Right before she drifted off to sleep she thought about Naruto one more time.
