Kasane x Nobunaga

Part One

Advancing from the aftermath of the case of Nobuyuki, Kasane managed to find herself back in the Oda castle after she got herself fired before.

Whisper, whisper, the maids talked amongst themselves in low, murmuring voices.

Even some of the senior retainers joined in the conversations, facing her such loathing gazes as they did so.

She gave out a sigh in her heart once more.

Even though she didn't hear them, she had an inkling of what they were saying.

'Filthy, disgraceful woman.' 'Nobunaga-sama's plaything.' 'Gained favor of Nobunaga-sama with that body of hers…'

...Well, this was to be expected.

Unlike the young soldiers, she still had trouble getting along with the senior retainers of the Oda clan.

Well someone like her, who suddenly met Nobunaga and immediately became his attendant*, can easily be found by his side.

From the senior retainers' point of view, they have a certain right to be suspicious.

It seems that they've suspected of her to be the mistress of their lord.

"Of course that isn't the case at all."

The spreading rumors were just so downright ridiculous that she couldn't help but wryly smile at all of it.

Nobunaga was the master who picked her up, of course that story didn't come close to any of the rumors blowing around.

Besides Tono-sama already had a wife named Nouhime.

Having such a beautiful bride; of course he wouldn't be interested in her.

At first Kasane took offense to the rumors that 'they're utter nonsense!', but she couldn't stop others from talking about it still.

She's already became used to these spiteful comments.

To the point where she could comment, 'So they're still talking about it huh~.' It was almost amusing now.

"..."

Suddenly feeling a presence coming from behind, Kasane turned around.

Some distance away, she spotted Nobunaga standing back.

"Ah, Tono-sama, good morning! ...Wait, if you're there then please at least call out first!"

"..."

As she told him this, Nobunaga only glanced at her and soon turned his heel and left towards the corridor without a single word.

"...Weirdo."

Kasane made a bitter expression at his attitude and stuck out her tongue at his back.

"Recently Tono-sama's somehow acting strange..."

Lately Nobunaga's behavior has been unusual.

Since the matter of Nobuyuki, she couldn't help but think that his behavior has been odd.

After she kicked herself out of his castle, she then soon returned.

And when Kasane came back, she was assigned with a new task.

To personally care for Nobunaga.

At first she wondered to herself, 'Why me?', but since it was his order, she had no choice but to obey.

However, even though it was her duty to personally care for him, for some reason he felt far more cold and distant than his previous attitude before she left.

Nobunaga would, if she didn't mess anything up, always give her some sort of response back to her.

However the recent Nobunaga has been strange.

Indeed he was quite well-behaved when she was in charge of him.

To the point where it just felt gross.

Not only that, whenever she's been caring for him she could feel his gaze.

Feeling that he needed to say something to her, she would call out to him, but as seen before Nobunaga would just give a single glance at her and leave off to some destination.

Even though she would get irritated by this behavior, she would then find him just silently staring at her at another time.

That gaze moments before was a prime example.

Whenever she felt a presence, most of the time she would find him observing her at some distance.

"I wonder if he has something he wants to talk about…"

But thinking back to his character, he was the type to bluntly say what he wanted without holding back.

And he'll say all what he wants with an enraged tone and thoroughly, without an inch of mercy, humiliate others.

This was the treatment that Kasane knew all too well from personal experience.

So why isn't he saying anything to her?

It's weird.

It felt like something got stuck in her throat; made her feel sick.

"Hn~... strange."

Muttering that to herself, Kasane then returned back to work.
