Coming Closer
Chapter 4
Sam started at herself in the mirror for a moment before she walked right back into the walk in closet with a sigh, "Mommy, no go." Alex demanded from his spot in the middle of the king size bed as he watched his mother disappear into the closet. Sam and Jason were going to meet Patrick and Robin for dinner, along with Maxie and Matt.
"Mama stay." Aria agreed as she buried her head into one of the newest additions to the Morgan clan, Bear, the Newfoundland that laid on the floor next to the bed.
"Sweetie, it's only for a little while." Sam called as she tossed the dress out of the closet and tried another one on, "I'm sure Aunt Molly will have something fun planned."
"No, Aunt Maxie." Brie insisted as she glanced at the doorway before she leaned back into the bed and turned her attention back to My Little Ponies that was playing on the TV, "She makes me wear pink." Brie mumbled as she scrunched up her nose.
"Don't worry, she is going out with Aunt Robin and me." Sam smiled as she appeared in the room wearing a short black dress, "What do we think?" She asked the kids as she twirled around.
"Pretty." Aria and Aubree replied at the same time.
"No like." Alex disagreed as he shook his head, "You have Daddy and don't need to be pretty." Alex frowned.
"I'm sorry." Sam laughed as she turned to face her son as she thought she didn't hear him clearly.
"Mommy too sexy." Alex repeated with a frown.
"How do you even know that word?" Sam asked as she tried not to laugh.
"I found this hidden in the back of the hall closet." Jason spoke as he entered the room with a pink dress in one hand and a puppy in the other. Brie glanced away from the TV to look at her dad before she slid off the bed, grabbed the dress and scurried out of the room.
"What were you doing in the back of the closet?" Sam asked as she pinned her bangs back and watched Jason from the mirror.
"It's not important." Jason frowned as he set the golden retriever down on the bed next to Alex, "Where did you get that dress?" He asked as he took in Sam's tight black dress and red heels.
"Maxie bought it for me before I had Aria."
"No like it." Alex repeated as he climbed into Jason's lap and pointed at his mother, "Mommy too sexy and already has Daddy."
"I have to agree, Monkey." Jason asked as he kept his eyes on his wife, who just gave him a bright smile in the mirror, "Mommy does look sexy."
"Jase." Sam frowned as she turned to her husband, "He should not know what that word is, he is three."
"Three and a half." Alex corrected, "Mommy needs to change and stay here with me and Nala." Alex added as he patted the puppy's head.
"Try to find that dress now." Brie muttered to herself as she came back into the room and climbed back on to the bed, "I am not going shopping with Aunt Maxie anymore." She announced as she leaned back into the bed, "I put the shoes there too Daddy."
"What shoes?"
"The ones that Daddy hid because his puppy chewed them. They were Aunt Maxie's so it's okay." Brie smiled as she looked at her mother with a smile.
"I thought it was a secret." Jason frowned.
"Mommy says to always tell the truth to her."
"What about to me?"
"You don't always need the whole story." Brie laughed as he mother winked to her.
"Mommy please change." Alex begged as he gave his mother the famous Scorpio pout.
"Okay Monkey, I will change, while you go downstairs and beg Michael for come Ice Pops." Sam smiled as she lifted the little boy from Jason's lap and set him back on the ground.
"A little brother too?" Alex smiled before he took off out of the room and down the stairs to find his cousin.
"See, even our son agrees with me." Jason smirked as he stood and placed his arms around Sam's waist and brushed her hair back.
"What do you girls think?" Sam laughed as she leaned against Jason's hold.
"No more boys." Aubree disagreed as Aria stuck her tongue out.
"No more babies." Sam muttered as Jason pitched her side.
"Why are we going to the Metro Court for dinner with your sisters? We see them at the Lake House every Wednesday, heck we see them every day."
"We are not going to the Metro Court, we are going to Maxie and Matt's apartment. Maxie wants to cook for everyone and Robin wants to share her news." Sam corrected as she lifted Aria into her arms and headed out of the room.
"Don't eat the food." Brie whispered as she followed after her mother.

"Does Maxie even know how to cook?" Jason asked as the two couples got off the elevator and walked towards the blonde's apartment.
"I don't even think she knows what a stove was." Patrick remarked as he knocked on the door as Sam and Robin stood a few steps back as they were digging through Sam's bag.
"What do you have in there?" Jason asked as he walked up to the sisters, before he could get to close Robin stuffed the last of the French fries into her mouth just as Matt opened the door.
"Come on in guys." The man welcomed as he held the door open for the two couples, "Maxie, is almost finished with dinner." He added as they walked into living room.
Sam was about to sit down on the loveseat when Maxie ran in from the kitchen, grabbed both Robin and Sam's arm before she darted back to the kitchen as she dragged the two women behind her. Patrick opened his mouth to say something but decided against it and headed over to the bar to make himself a drink.
"Do you know why we are here instead of at a restaurant?" Jason asked as he took a seat across from Matt.
"The first time Maxie talked to me in a week was tonight, to tell me you all were coming over." Matt answered with a frown just as a girly shriek came from the corner of the room followed by the sound of glass. The two quickly turned to see Patrick pail and pointed to the bar, where a hairless cat sat as he hissed at the doctor.
"What the hell is that thing?" Patrick cried as he slowly backed away from the bar and towards the two man.
"I see you have met Fluffy, apparently I own a cat now." Matt explained with a sign as he moved to clean up the glass.
Patrick and Jason glanced at the cat and then at each other, "I think I know why we are here and it's not going to be pretty." Patrick muttered as he sent a pity glance at his brother.

"I am so glad that we finally get to do this." Maxie smiled brightly as she quickly threw a container away so no one would see it, "I have been meaning to throw a dinner party, and it's just been very crazy lately." Maxie continued as she moved to grab the plates.
"Cut the crap." Sam ordered as she grabbed the plates from her younger sister and set them back on the counter and looked at her sister in the eye, "What is going on?"
"I have no idea what you mean?" Maxie lied as she turned away from Sam and towards the oven.
"You forget that we all grew up in the same house and know you like the back of our hand." Robin agreed as she moved next to Sam and forced the blonde to look at them.
"I just wanted everyone to be together and so Robin can finally tell Patrick the good news."
"No deflecting and Patrick already knows."
"When did you tell him?"
"Last night, it was the only way he would run out and get ice cream for me last night." Robin shrugged, "Hey, not getting me off topic that easy." Robin glared just as a scream carried in from the other room.
"I'm guessing Patrick met Fluffy." Sam laughed, "Tell us what is really going on." She demanded as she turned her attention back to her sister.
"I did something and you shouldn't be that surprised I mean blowing my life apart is something I do best." Maxie rattled off as she leaned against the sink.
"Honey, you can tell us anything."
"I met someone a few weeks ago while I was in New York working for Kate."
"By met someone, what do you mean?" Robin asked unsure as she leaned against the island as she carefully watched the blonde.
"What do you think I mean?" Maxie asked sarcastically as she let out a heavy sigh, "It was innocent at first, I met him at a restaurant one night and we started talking and one thing led to another." Maxie explained.
"This is why you have been trying to push Matt away." Sam offered as she moved closer to her younger sister.
"I thought it would be easier if I could get him to break up with me. I never set out to hurt Matt, things haven't been right for a long time and I …." Maxie trailed off as she started to tear up. Sam quickly walked up to the blonde and opened her arms, which Maxie quickly walked into.

"I am telling you, we need to get in on this cookie train. Don't you have a girl old enough to infiltrate Girl Scout yet in that brood of yours?" Patrick added as he, his brother and Patrick sat down on at the dining room table.
"Do you even know how many kids I have?" Jason asked as he took a sip of his beer at watched the doctor struggle for a moment.
"You have three and their names all start with the same letter." Patrick muttered as he set his beer down, "Do you have any idea how hard that is too keep track? You keep popping them out too."
"That is going to be the father of your baby." Sam laughed as she and Robin came into the room as they carried a tray of food.
"Give me a second." Patrick ordered as he pulled out his phone, "The boy is Alex and the girls are Aubree and Aria." He concluded as he looked at his phone.
"Please don't tell me you made a cheat sheet." Robin muttered as she set the tray down and reached over to her husband and grabbed his phone.
"You don't know the name of your nieces and nephew or my birthday." Robin questioned as Sam watched on in amusement as she settled on to Jason's lap.
"I had to make a cheat sheet, there are five children in your family and then there are the kids and their birthdays. It's a lot to remember and I made a cheat sheet so I don't get in trouble."
"Jason, do you have a cheat sheet?" Sam asked as she adjusted herself to get a good look at Jason.
"Our Anniversary is June 12, Maxie's birthday is October 31, and Molly's is November 10th." Jason rattled off as he wrapped his arms around Sam's waist and shot a smirk in Patrick's direction.
"How do you know all that?" Patrick asked amazed as he snatched his phone back from his wife.
"It was either learn it or have Sam torture me until I remembered."
"Maybe I should try that." Robin snapped as she took a seat at the table and Maxie came out with the main course.
"Is there a real reason we are here?" Patrick asked in a hush voice as he leaned close to Robin.
"To spend time with our family." Robin answered as she carefully looked at the plate of meat that was being passed around, she was about to grab a scoop full when she looked up to Sam shaking her head no.
"Everyone please dig in." Maxie smiled as she watched Patrick and Matt dig in on the meat looking thing.
"So, you will never guess what I got an invite to this morning." Robin announced as she tried to break the silence.
"An invite to Spoon Island." Sam guessed as she looked at her sister.
"What the hell does Nikolas want from us now? I thought I made it clear they were to have no contact with us. After what that bitch put us through."
"Elizabeth was put in Shadybrook for a breakdown." Sam dismissed.
"I would remember that for the next time you are on trial for a crime you didn't commit." Patrick smirked as he glared at Jason.
"How are you liking the dinner?" Maxie asked Matt as he ate another fork full.
"It tastes really good." Matt answered after he swallowed and then smiled at the blonde.
"Well I am happy you like dog food so much." Maxie smiled as Patrick started to gag.
