Coming Closer

Chapter 8

Sam quickly scribbled a quick note on the piece of paper before went to put it on the fridge where Jason would be sure to see it. After the note was secure, she opened the door and grabbed a bottle of water. After waking up two hours ago and not being able to fall back to sleep, she had decided to go for an early run in hopes to clear her mind. Something that always used to work when she was stressed out.

Her head was still spinning from the information her parents had told her last night and could not wrap her head around it. And if she was telling the truth, she really didn't want to. At least not just yet. She quickly picked up her phone, placed it in her back pocket and then moved to the back door. Just as she was about to open it, it swung open to show a worried looking blonde.

"Are you okay? I came as soon as I got you message." Carly rattled off as she pulled the younger woman into a hug.

"My message?" Sam asked confused as she held onto the taller woman.

"Your almost midlife crisis." Carly remarked as she took in Sam's outfit, "What are you doing?" She asked with a frown.

"Going for a run." Sam answered.

"No you're not." The blonde disagreed as she shook her head, "The message said that you made a choice and I am going to guess that the answer is yes." She smiled.

It took Sam a moment before she figured out what the blonde was talking about, her shares in the Metro Court. Before Jax had left Port Charles after his divorce from Carly, he had given Sam his holdings of the hotel. Till this point they have just been sitting there, Sam hadn't been sure about what she wanted to do.

Sam loved her life, but she felt that something was missing. She had spent the last two years being a stay at home mother, because she didn't trust anyone to raise her babies, but she felt that something was missing. That's when Carly came up with the idea of the two of them running the hotel together. It would Carly some much needed help and Sam could bring kids to work with her. Carly had gone ahead and made a playroom between what would be their offices.

"I think that being partners with you is just the distraction I need right now." Sam said as she forced a smile.

"Distraction? What is going on? Are you okay?" Carly rattled off as she went from thrilled to worried in the blink of an eye.

"Can we go somewhere else to talk about this?" Sam asked.

"Why don't we go to the Metro Court and pick out your new office?" The blonde offered as she turned and opened the door, "Or rather see what I picked out for you." She muttered.

"Is the restaurant open yet?" Sam asked as an idea pooped into her head as she followed the blonde out the door and towards her car.

"No, they are renovating the kitchen."

"So we could be alone and drink." Sam smiled, the idea of having a drink was suddenly brightening her mood. She hadn't been much of a drinker since Aria was born and right now it was just what she needed.

"Yes, but it's eleven in the morning." Carly drew out, "This must be some story." She said more to herself as she climbed into the driver's seat, "Scratch that, you know the saying, its five o'clock somewhere." She laughed as Sam climbed into the passenger seat.

Jason let out a groan in his sleep as he felt someone sit on his chest, his eyes slowly fluttered open to see a carbon copy of his wife smiling down at him, "Princess." Jason mumbled at his youngest as he glanced at the clock to see that it said 12:30pm.

"Daddy up." Aria clapped as she leaned down and placed a sloppy kiss on his cheek. Jason slowly sat up on the bed, he moved the toddler to his lap and tried to process how he had slept in so late. He glanced around the room to see that Aria and he were the only ones there.

"I was tired."

"Max say you lazy." Aria smiled as she stood on the bed, "She dress me." The two year old twirled around in a pink tutu.

"Max….. Maxie is here?" Jason asked as he tried to piece together what was happening, "Why?"

"I didn't let her in. Mommy said to never open the door because Stranger Danger. I ran to lock the back door but she beat me." Brie rambled as she entered the room, Jason could help but smile as she reminded him of Sam.

"It's fine. She was bound to get in anyway." Jason sighed.

"You need to take care of her Daddy." The five year old demanded as she stared at the dress her aunt had gotten for her. It was the same one that her sister had, only it had more sparkles.

"Where is your Mother?"

"She left us with you!" Alex as he appeared in the room and spat as he stood in the doorway with his hair spiked up and in a pink shirt, "Mommy is going to be mad when I tell her."

"Mommy wasn't here when we got up." Brie answered as she handed her father the note.

"Is Aunt Robin here too?" Jason asked the two as he slipped out of bed and moved to the dresser to put a shirt on.

"Bad man is here." Alex answered as Brie tried to smooth his hair down, "Stop it! I look like Daddy." Alex argued as he pushed his sister away.

"Bad man?"

"He means Uncle Damion."

"Bad man." Alex corrected, "He wants Mommy to love him more than us. She my Mommy."

"Is Ryann and Aunt Emily with him?" Jason asked as he shook his head, Alex defiantly had an attachment to his mother that rivaled even Jason's.

"No." Brie answered as she helped her sister off the bed, "He and Aunt Maxie."

"Oh, this is going to be fun." Jason muttered.

"We could just stay up here." Brie offered, "Until Mommy comes home."

"Where did Mommy go?" Jason asked as he opened the door slightly, not really making up his mind if we wanted to go downstairs to that chaos.

"Aunt Maxie said that she went running." Brie mentioned as she moved to the bed and helped her sister off of the bed.

"Mommy is with Mama Carly." Alex informed the room, "Mommy was going to run, but Mama Carly took her."

"So, I am now stuck with the children and the people I like the least in this family." Jason mused.

"You make it sound like you don't like us." Alex frowned and gave Jason the look that said I am going to tell mom.

"Sam, we have been here for an hour and both are a little shaky on our feet." Carly laughed as she almost missed her stool for the second time, "I think you should tell me why we are here." The blonde shrugged as she made another round of shots.

"My life for the last two year has been a lie." Sam answered before she downed the shot, "I am going to sue that lab for everything it is worth."

"Lab? What happened?"

"We all know that a monkey could perform a better DNA test then the technicians in this town." Sam laughed as she poured another shot.

"Is this about Brie?"

"No, it's about my brother or lack thereof now." Sam frowned as she took another shot, "My mother also never is allowed to say anything about my relationship choices."

"Let's start from the beginning." Carly grabbed the table as she looked up at Sam, who had tears in her eyes.

"The test Jason force Damion to take, turns out that the results were wrong and I am not related to the Prince family." Sam summed up.

"It took them two years to figure out they made a mistake." Sam frowned, "Lucky died because an enemy of Kyle Prince was out for revenge. Lucky wanted to prove that he was a changed man and was determined to save our daughter." Sam cried, "A daughter that was never his and he didn't get the chance to even know."

"Sam." Carly frowned as she pulled the younger woman into a hug, "Lucky died to save your daughter and loved both of you so much." Carly promise.

"He died because of a lie. A lie that my Mother supported because she thought that Kyle Prince was the better choice of the two men." She said with a sarcastic laugh. "Elizabeth was right, it's all my fault that Lucky died and my daughter was kidnapped."

"Sam you are becoming too much like Jase, these are things that happened to you and are not your fault."

"Can we not talk about this anymore?" Sam pleaded as pulled out her phone to see that she had a missed call from her sister, she quickly sent the blonde a text, saying where she was and then put her phone away.

"I have a topic we can talk about." Carly smiled as she pulled a plastic bag from her coat pocket and slammed it on the table.

Sam paused a moment before she started at the blonde for a moment, "You should not be drinking with me." Sam declared as she started at the test, "Why are you carrying that thing around?" She asked as an afterthought.

"I am not the one it's for. I need you to tell Sonny it's yours." Carly informed the woman.

"I know that I had a lot to drink already but I know for sure that is not my test." Sam frowned as she took a sip straight from the bottle, "I am not really in a place for one of your crazy Carly plans." Sam continued.

"You are need of a distraction and this is the perfect distraction." Carly argued as she took the bottle from Sam from took a sip, "Plus, you are my last chance at making this a reality." She nodded at the test and back at Sam with a hopeful look.

"You do realize that you and I can't make a baby right?" Sam laughed, "I mean if I could I totally would. We have cute kids alone, imagine if we had one together." Sam rambled.

"I mean my last chance to convince Sonny. I went to Jason and he was no help." Carly explained, "Joss to start school in two weeks. I don't have any little ones running around anymore."

"Did you ask Jason to give you a baby?"

"God no! Like he would ever look at another woman." Carly dismissed as she took another sip, "I want to have a baby and Sonny will not have one unless Jason and you have one."

"How does that make any sense?" Sam asked as she stole the bottle, she had a feeling she was going to need it.

"Sonny said that he doesn't want to deal with a crazy hormonal woman alone and will only agree to it if Jason is in the same boat."

"So, don't give him a chance to think about it. Turn him on so he can't think straight." Sam offered.

"I have been trying that and still am." Carly sulked, "I already went to Jason in an effort to get him on board."

"How did that go over?" Sam laughed so hard she almost fell out of her seat.

"I got a pregnancy test from your sister, how do you think it went?" She asked sarcastically, "I think you should just be glad that I didn't flush your pill down the toilet."

"So let me see if I have your plan summed up; you want me to pretend that I am pregnant and then Sonny will get you knocked up? You do realize that makes no sense right?" Sam asked as she glanced at the blonde.

"I am desperate."

"You look at Sonny and demand that he gives you a baby or you will make his life hell." Sam said, "You are Carly Corinthos and no one tells you no." Sam finished the last of the bottle and then moved to the bar to get another.

"We are having dinner at the Metro Court?" Emily asked as she held Ryann in her arms and looked from her husband to her brother.

"It linner. It's too early for dinner and too late for breakfast." Damion smiled as pushed the button for the elevator, "Plus, my sister is now part owner and I am going to milk that for all it's worth." He said with a sad smile at the sister part.

"Mommy here?" Alex asked as he pulled on his father's coat as they all moved into the elevator, "I miss her."

"Aunt Maxie said that she is meeting us here for dinner." Jason answered as he placed Aria down on the ground.

"Where crazy lady?" The boy asked as he looked around.

"She went to get Aunt Robin and the food." Emily smiled as his nickname for his Aunt.

"Crazy lady?" Damion laughed.

"He calls you mean man." Jason smirked.

"I wonder who taught him that." Damion snapped back.

"You try and take Mommy away from me." Alex frowned as he moved to stand next to his father.

"Why does Aunt Maxie need to get food if we are going to food place?" Brie asked her Aunt as she played with Aria's pigtails.

"That is a very good question." Emily stopped, surprised that no one else had picked up on the fact.
