Hey guys thanks for being so patient with me. Next chapter you get the start of questing. I thought that I would completely establish where Luke stood but I didn't want him to never not be bad so I made him have the whole second thoughts thing anyway I hope you like it Chapter 10 should be soon. Also I totally except and help with anything that may be wrong with the writing I have in my chapters. So enjoy. Also
IMPORTANT BELOW
tell me if you want either want Luke to be pushed into the Quest or if you want to have Percy and Annebeth to go on the quest. I could do either one for this quest and just have all the other ones with Luke or I could do this quest with Luke. Help me out so I can finish the last part of chapter 10.
Chapter 9
Luke's POV
I was in a dark and dank cavern with the ceiling so high that you couldn't see it as it disappeared into a fog. The fog was also swirling all around me. The cavern wall were crudely cut obsidian that had jagged edges protruding from all different places all over the walls. I couldn't really see much except for what was in front of me. All of a sudden a voice rang out that sounded like knives being scraped down a chalk board. It sent shivers down your spine. The voice was ancient and evil and his name was Kronos.
"Luke Castellan" He spoke out
"Yes why did you call me here."
"Do you have something to say for yourself."
"What do you mean?"
"You couldn't complete a simple task. Luckily I had someone lined up in case you failed."
"What! What do you mean? I wasn't able to do it the place was on lock down."
"Really because someone did when you got to scared to." Kronos started to get annoyed.
"So then what are you going to do with me?!"
"I have no use for you. I would kill you but you're protected by your stupid camp. Although watch your back son of Hermes when you leave those borders. Now Leave!"
With those final words I woke up and I felt like a weight has been lifted from my chest. I had started to have doubts about Kronos but I knew I would get my ass kicked if I just decided to walk away. Frankly I'm quite surprised he let me go so easily with just a threat that he may kill me if I leave camp. I got out of bed and walked out of my cabin not sensing sleep was at all near and watched the sun rise.
Percy POV
Let me be honest everyone probably thinks that being a child of the big three, Chiron told me that I'm apparently not even supposed to exist, is really amazing but no just no. Yeah sure I'm in charge of myself. I am the one in charge of lights out and what activities I'm going to be doing but everyone stayed away from me like the plague. All the people who used to talk to me before they knew my father was the king of the sea just stopped talking to me. They were to scared of angering my father that they just avoided me altogether. Everyone except Annabeth and Luke. Annabeth was the one who helped me with greek. The was an ok teacher she got annoyed with me easily because i wasn't learning that fast but at least I was trying. Luke still talked to me sometimes and would help me with sword lessons so I was slowly getting better even though no sword was the correct weight or length.
It was breakfast at camp and I was sitting alone at the Poseidon table. It was big enough to seat twelve but I was the only one at it so it made it seem like it was a lot bigger than it was. After the lonely breakfast Chiron called me to the big house.
"Percy I'm glad you are here" He spoke
"Yeah what did you need?" I asked him looking quizzically between him and Grover who was also in the room.
"Ok Percy let me just get to the point Zeus's master bolt was stolen and he is blaming Poseidon and since Poseidon and decided to claim you Zeus thinks you stole it so-"
"Wait what?" I interrupted "You mean to say that Zeus thinks I stole something I had no Idea existed until last week! He is crazy!"
"Even if so there is no need to say aloud he is the king of the gods. So if you except I would wish you to go on a quest because how good would it look if the child accused of being a traitor went to go find the bolt herself."
"So wait you want me to go on a quest to find some bolt that I was accused of stealing. In what world does that makes sense?"
This is when Grover finally decided to chip in to the conversation "Percy think about it, it could help you clear your name and fix everything. It makes sense. It could stop the impending war."
"Wait there is going to be war!" I spluttered out.
"Yes Percy," Chiron spoke unnervingly calm "The war would destroy humanity as we know it. The world would crumble to ruin nature would be out of balance. Storms would rage oceans rise, and fires across the globe. The Winter Solstice is the last day until the peace ends. Only you can stop this war."
I looked back and forth between Chiron and Grover, gave a defeated sigh, and shrugged my shoulders in defeat. "Fine"
"Great now you just need a prophecy. Go up to the attic and talk to the Oracle." He told me pointing me to the stairs.
I looked up the stairs and started to climb. Four stories later I came to a rickety set of stairs leading into the ceiling. Climbing up the smell of moth balls hit me in the face. In the attic there was shelves of jarred objects with tags. There was claws and eyes also everything in between. Some sword and shield lying on the ground dented and misshapen to the point that some of them did not really look like they used to be weapons. It was like the attic of the sad and the forgot things.
In the corner of the attic sat a mummy and a old wooden stool. It's not like I'm not talking about the egyptian mummy kind but more like it was shriveled up and was mummified from the shear years of sitting up in an attic. She had a tye dyed dress on that had tattered ends and the color was faded from it. Her head band and the giant peace sign on it but some of it was missing. Her necklaces were pretty much just leather around her neck with maybe a few beads on them if they hadn't fallen off from the amount of years. She no longer really had eyes and her hair was in tuffs on her head. I would imagine she used to be very pretty but now she just looked sad and had a look on her face as if to ask me Why haven't I been thrown out yet. She did not look like it was going to be moving anytime soon but if that's the Oracle then I guess I have to ask for some prophecy, right. Walking up to it I had a sinking feeling in my gut.
"So what's my destiny or something." It felt weird talking to it but if it works then sure why not.
I jumped back when green smoke started to slither out of her like a gross green snake. Circling around me I could soon see a picture of what looked like Gabe and his poker buddies playing poker. When Gabe started to speak it wasn't his voice it was like a thousand voices speaking at the same time in a whisper.
You shall go west, and face the god who had turned
You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned
You shall be betrayed by the one who calls you friend
And you shall fail to save what matters most in the end.
After saying this the smoke went back into the mummy and she went back to looking like she would never move again although I had a different feeling when it came to her seeing as it felt like she just issued my doom.. With that I turned around and made my way back downstairs towards probably what was going to be my death.
