Coming Up with a Decent Plan

". . . Excuse me?" Ms. Shannon received disbelieving looks from the girls. That didn't stop her from keeping her calm. She was on expert at this; I mean, she's done this too many times. How many years has she done this again? Maybe older than dirt long.

"I believe I didn't stutter Dorie, but I'll say it again just in case you didn't catch it the first time. I said we need to think of a plan."

"No, no, no your majesty, we heard you. It's just that . . . you're not upset with us? At all?" Reanne picked up where Dorie couldn't finish.

"Of course not. You're all just children after all; this is a first for you. Well . . . second anyway" they remembered exactly what she meant by that, thinking back when their families and classmates first found out but the problem was dealt with then . . . with severe consequences, "even though your way more advanced and mature now than you were three years ago. With any luck, this incident will be forgotten within a matter of weeks, maybe days if we play our cards right. Full cooperation is a must, understood?" Ms. Shannon, better yet, Queen Lumina, ordered.

"Yes, your highness" the girls said in unison bowing accordingly. They were relieved for the queen's understanding that it truly wasn't their fault, but they didn't want to upset her either. This was now another bothersome epidemic she had to worry about. Everyone's on edge now and not liking it. In any case, Queen Lumina transformed back into her civilian disguise.

"For now, unless it's absolutely necessary, do not transform at all under no means. Don't go to the Lunaverse unless told to do so be me or Amaretta (Majo Rin) only. I will inform you further if we make any head way."

"Yes ma'am"

"Good, please return to your classes" Ms. Shannon snapped her fingers resuming time flow and, with that, she handed the girls their physicals, which was their excuse to stay in the first place, and they left.

"Well, now what're we gonna do?" Mirabelle asked.

"You heard the Queen; we need to lay low until the whole thing blows over. You know keep a low profile; like we're undercover agents or something" Momoko answered with a smile plastered on her face. The others sweat dropped.

"You just turned a serious situation into a James Bond type of thing" Ellie commented.

"Yeah, 007 baby! British intelligence!" Momoko shifted up against the wall and started peaking around corners for anyone who could blow her supposed cover.

"At least she's trying not to think about it. Anyway, how long do you think it's going to take?"

"Honestly, I don't know" Reanne hung her head.

"Let's just try to pull through" Dorie put a reassuring hand on Reanne's shoulder. She relaxed a bit at the gesture and eventually calmed down. Soon, they were in front of Ms. Cooper's classroom back door. As the girls prepared to part ways, Hana slid open the door and the un-awaiting chaos inside spewed out on the unsuspecting apprentices. Loud, excessive chatter attacked their eardrums un-mercilessly. The noise could be compared to an air horn right next to your ear. Hana, Dorie and Momoko took a step back and looked at the sign above the door just to check if this was their class and make sure they didn't accidentally walk to the first grade hallway by mistake.

'Class 2-C'

No mistaking it . . . this was their classroom . . . unfortunately.

"Hehehe . . ." Dorie had a huge drop of sweat on the back of her head because of the childish 6th graders before her. A wary hand was placed on her shoulder by Mirabelle.

"Good luck"

With those uncertain words of encouragement, Mirabelle, Reanne and Ellie quickly shuffled towards their classroom hoping it wasn't as bad as what they just witnessed. The other three stalked into the classroom hoping not to be seen. Guess how well that worked out.

"Ms. Cooper, the girls are back!" Todd had yelled to Ms. Cooper in the front of the classroom. All the students turned their direction for their sudden reappearance.

"Dang it, Todd . . ." Dorie and Momoko murmured. Hana quickly took to her seat.

"You girls get your physicals?" Ms. Cooper looked up from her desk. The three apprentices held up their papers as Dorie and Momoko followed Hana in taking to their seats. Ms. Cooper nodded in approval before returning to her work. The girls sighed heavily and waited for the rest of the day to crawl by.

Soon, the final bell rang and everyone had left to go to their homes or after school activities. The Ojamajos had made it to the shop to discuss the day's events.

"So, what did the queen say?" Caitlyn had asked.

"Basically she said to lay low until the whole thing blows over; no transforming, no traveling to the Lunaverse, no power use whatsoever." Dorie had explained.

"Seriously?! All of that?! Surely she trusts us more than that!"

"Yep; and it's not a matter of trust. It's a matter of our and the people of the Lunaverse's safety."

"Sans safety, that's harsh."

"Tell us about it . . ." the Ojamajos complained.

"Well it may be for the better. Let's just do as the queen asked." Patina commanded.

"Alright . . ." everyone half-heartily replied.

- IN THE LUNAVERSE SOMEWHERE -

It's relatively peaceful night in a town where almost every inhabitant has retired for the night, sans the late night workers and occasional late night party goers walking through the vacant streets. In the middle of said town stood a fountain with the water still gushing out of the top sprinkler; water flowing through the cracks and crevices of the worn out spots of the fountain. The beautiful embroidery on the front, fading away over the years.

Suddenly, the water stopped gushing from the top and the fountain began trembling slightly. Seconds later the slight trembling became violent shaking and the shaking began to affect the buildings nearby, waking some the inhabitants. At its breaking point, the fountain gave one final violent jerk and burst, flinging debris in a multitude of directions. Debris shattered nearby shop windows and others lodged themselves in the sides and fronts of buildings; no building was left unscathed. Most of the chunks of concrete landed and created craters in the ground.

The sudden commotion caused many un-awakened residents to shoot out of the comfort of their beds and bolt to the nearest window or door. Many people were surrounding the now demolished fountain. Murmurs were now flooding the air with distress and many brave or curious souls moved toward the fountain to take a peek inside. The earth began to rumble beneath their feet and the once smooth and worn out bottom of the fountain began to crack and split. Onlookers began to pace backwards intending to put as much space between themselves and the now rumbling fountain. Back to the inside of the fountain, the bottom began to push upward. Underneath the broken and crippled stone were blue-black purple portals. Buffy hands, or what seemed like hands, stretched outward from the portals and gripped the surrounding bottom of the fountain; each one adorning three fingers and claws. Midnight blue arms with outlined pink holes on the arms came next followed by a horn on the frontward part of the head that came afterward. The eyes were outlined dark pink with glowing dark pink eyes and the mouth was lined with two fangs. From the first portal, the first creature from it leapt out and the portal closed behind the creature. The rest of its body could be seen, it being mostly midnight blue in color and having a decent build. On its back were multiple prickled spikes that ended at the mid back and from the spikes was a purple haze of smoke or dark energy. The legs were a bit scrawny but fit enough and the feet were lined with two claws. To finish the creature, it had a long, beefy tail swishing behind it.

The creature was rather small in size, about the size of an adolescent child, but still gave off a threatening appearance. Soon, six more creatures, seven in all, appeared from the other portals all looking exactly like the first. They let out a horrid yell to announce their arrival.

*Screeeeeeeech*

Frightened screams split through the tensioned night air as the peaceful residents now ran for their lives to shelter and to just get away from the monsters that emerged from the once beautiful fountain. The creatures began their rampage on the town; leveling buildings, unearthing trees and plant life, trashing homes and shops, and attacking anything and anyone in their way. Showing no signs of letting up, they wouldn't stop until everything was demolished.

- 4 DAYS LATER/ON EARTH –

Ms. Cooper had just called lunch and recreation as she stepped out of the room to copy some papers and maybe beat some of the staff in a game of Shogi. All the students, sans our girls, made a bee line towards Penny's desk to check the latest news; eating, the last thing on their minds. As the last of the kids weaved their way through the desks, Reanne, Ellie, and Mirabelle walked in the back door and they made their own bee line towards Hana's desk.

"How's everyone holding up?" Ellie asked, whispering.

"For once, pretty good." Dorie answered in the same whisper. The others gave an 'A-Okay' sign. "So good, in fact, that this is the longest Hana's ever gone without using her powers; I'm so proud!" Hana laughed and rubbed the back of her head embarrassed but glad her mother was giving her compliments.

"Actually, this is also the longest you've ever been without using your powers, isn't it Dorie?" Momoko looked slyly Dorie's direction. The others following suit. Dorie held a blank face.

". . ."

"Exactly!"

"Shuddup."

Over with the students, things were getting tense.

"Well, do you have anything else on those girls yet?" Josie slammed her hands on Penny's desk emphasizing the importance of her words. The timid photographer jumped. The girls turned toward the conversation and listened in. Penny crossed her arms over her chest.

"No. I haven't been able to spot them since I first saw them!" Penny began waving her hands dramatically.

'Of course you haven't. We haven't used our powers since then.' the Ojamajos thought in unison.

"I've been all around town and still haven't seen them! It's almost like they knew we were looking for them!"

'Ya think?' the girls felt a huge drop of sweat on the back of their heads.

"I don't believe it! We discover that could practically change life as we know it and you're telling me they disappeared without a trace?" Josie started to steam.

'We're right here. It's not like we actually left.'

"Don't you think the "changing life as we know it" part was a bit much, Josie?" Scooter (Masaharu), the class president, asked.

'Actually, she's spot on. It could change life as you know it.'

"No, I don't and answer my question Penny!"

"Well . . . yeah." Penny hesitated. Not smart.

"Unbelievable!"

"I can't believe they slipped right under our noses." Shannon (Maki) hung her head.

"Yeah . . . I actually thought they were pretty cool." Mackenzie (Michiaki) said disappointed. The girls' eyes widened slightly. They weren't scared of them anymore? Heck, they even thought they were cool! The girls smiled sadly at their classmates.

"Has anyone seen them at all?" Josie was holding on to the fact that maybe Penny wasn't the only one who saw the girls. Alas, to Josie's disappointment, most of the students shook their heads indicating they never saw them either. Guess which ones didn't. "Hey, you six over in the corner! Have you seen them?!" The Ojamajos jumped a little realizing Josie was talking to them. They slowly turned their faces towards Josie and the rest of the students with crooked smiles.

"N-no." they were sweating. 'We're right here; not like you guys know that anyway.'

"Jeez, and when I thought we were this close!"

'You don't know how close you are.'

Soon the bell rang again and that's when all the students realized no one ate lunch! For the rest of the school day, there were many starving students in Ms. Cooper's class and three apprentices in Ms. Nishizawa's class.

- AFTER SCHOOL IN THE DOREMI SHOP –

The girls just arrived in the shop just in time to be greeted by Patina and Lareli.

"Welcome back." Patina greeted as she hopped out from her hiding place.

"Good to be back." Momoko sighed.

"And finally out of that classroom." Mirabelle face-planted onto the floor, too tired to move from her position. Ellie felt sweat as she looked down upon Mirabelle's tired figure.

"It was that bad?" Lareli questioned.

"Actually, no. Most of the school gave up on it now. There are still a few stragglers left but I'm sure they'll give up soon." Reanne reassured.

"So what's the problem?"

"MEDIC!" Patina's and Lareli's attention turned to the yellow apprentice who was supporting a really-out-of-it Dorie with one of her arms slung over Momoko's shoulder. "WE NEED TO GET THIS POOR SOUL SOME FOOD! STAT!" Momoko proceeded to support, rather carry, the pink apprentice to the break room in the back. The greenling and fairy turned toward the other Ojamajos.

"That's the problem." Reanne pointed out.

"There was a discussion about us in class and we listened in; by the time it was over, the lunch bell rang and nobody had eaten." Ellie explained.

A few minutes later, Dorie and Momoko returned to the front were everyone else was. Momoko stood by one of the many counters in the room and Dorie sat herself down in a chair.

"Ah . . . bliss." Dorie plopped down on a chair.

"Feeling better?" Reanne smiled. Dorie simply nodded.

"Looks like things are finally looking up!" Caitlyn boasted. Just as she finished stating that triumphant phrase, the queen walked in through the front door without warning with a grim expression on her features. Dorie turned toward her younger sibling.

"You just had to say something didn't you?"

"HOW WAS I SUPPOSE TO KNOW?!"

"Girls, please cease your yelling. There is something of grave importance I need to share with you." Lumina eased the yelling coming from Caitlyn. Everyone gathered around the queen in a hustle.

"If it's about the "identity" problem, we have it covered. We haven't transformed or used our powers in days; which is quite the feat for the Goodwyn family over there." Ellie gave herself a mental pat on the back.

"HEY!" Hana, Dorie, and Caitlyn yelled a little peeved.

"Yes, I'm aware of your progress and I'm very proud of you all; but that is not why I have come."

The girls cocked an eyebrow wondering what can be more serious than their current problem.

"Amaretta (Majo Rin), if you please?" Amaretta nodded and proceeded to take out a disc. "This is a recording of a nearby town close to the castle that was taped four days ago. Please pay close attention."

The video began to play with the Ojamajos, the fairies and Patina looking intently at the screen before them. The video showed the events of the mysterious creatures' appearance, their attack on the town, and their sudden disappearance. Though, all they could see was dust clouds and not the actually creatures themselves, the screaming pedestrians toppling over each other, and loud, horrid screeching. In the dust cloud, one of the silhouettes of one of the creatures picked up a large piece of fallen debris and chucked it toward the camera of the shop they got the recording from. The screen went blank; it's a miracle that the disc came out unscathed.

With mouths agape, the girls and Patina wondered just what was capable of something of what they just seen.

"This footage was taped, as I said, four days ago. The town was half destroyed, one third damaged, and one third gone. What's still is that we haven't found the creatures responsible. What we're afraid of is that they'll come here; the problem is, though, is that we don't know what they look like or where to start looking." the queen sighed in frustration.

"There have also been similar attacks around the Lunaverse, as well. All being completely random." Amaretta stated as monotone as usual.

"Hundreds of inhabitants have been checked into hospitals with minor injuries if they were lucky. Those that weren't have from major cuts and internal bleeding to broken bones and concussions. Not many are in intensive care, thank God above."

"Have there been any deaths?" Reanne asked the question nobody dared to ask unless they were prepared for a negative answer.

"None have been reported." Amaretta confirmed.

"Thank God." the Ojamajos sighed, relieved, in unison.

"Still, we fear they may rear their heads here. Be on your guard." Lumina warned. "I'm giving special permission for you all to use your powers only if absolutely necessary."

"Yes, ma'am. We understand." the Ojamajos bowed.

"Please . . . be careful girls."

Once again, sorry for the VERY late update. I'll try and see if I can get a schedule going or something to update sooner. Review please! Constructive criticism, flames, and opinions are welcome! GOD BLESS!
