Test, Team Selection and another Test
Uchiha Sasuke was a rational person. Over the last four years he had gotten a lot more collected. As he sat there he studied all of his class mates. Most of the civilians were useless and most of the shinobi born kids would be a pain to work with. As he looked them over, his eyes fell on the enigma of the class, Shulmah. They didn't know much of anything about the girl. Rumors in the village stated she was a blood lusting murdering monster. It wasn't known if she had parents, but everyone believed she was an orphan. She was on good terms with most of the clan heirs. But that didn't matter to him. Fact was she was strong and could fight. Among them she was the one he could most likely work with.
"First!" came a familiar cry.
Sasuke sighed.
'Here they go again.'
Ino and Sakura stormed into the room.
"No you're not. You used that big forehead of yours to cheat," Ino screamed.
"Ha, as if I needed to cheat to beat you Ino-pig," Sakura replied louder.
"Face it billboard brow I am sitting next to Sasuke-kun."
"No, I am!" another fan girl said.
Soon there was a free for all battle royal between the fan girls. It was rather amusing. Sasuke decided to ignore it and watch. They were punching, kicking, scratching, and biting. It was very saddening to see the kunoichi name being pulled through the dirt so much.
"For Kami's sake, shut the hell up," came a voice everyone knew.
Everything froze. The bickering of the fan girls had disturbed Shulmah, who had been reading a book. Now, fan girls were not known for their self-preservation instincts, but were infamous for two things. Hating the strange girl that was Shulmah, and being either very brave or extremely stupid, depending who you asked. So when Shulmah spoke up, they decided to gang up on her.
The Hokage's Office
In the office stood all nine of the Jonin that would maybe take this year's Genin teams. They were watching the entire thing unravel through the crystal ball of the Hokage. They saw the rumble unfold and the girl getting annoyed until she spoke up. Some winced as they saw the fan girls ganging up on Shulmah, having had previous experiences and marks from encounters from those girls.
"Oh yeah?!" they screamed.
"What are you gonna do about it?"
Not one to be intimidated by a lot of things put her book on the table and stood up. She walked around the table and walked to the mob. The fan girls were slowly stepping back and were soon backed up against the wall. They saw Shulmah bend forwards slightly.
"Booh!"
Classroom
That was all and the fan girls scrammed. They ran out of the room. Shulmah sat back down and returned to her reading. Soon Iruka and the girls along with Mizuki came into the room.
"Okay class, today is your last day, so do your best."
He handed out the test sheets and everyone started the test. After sometime everyone had finished.
"Alright class, the practical test starts now. When your name is called proceed to the testing room. The test will be on the Bushin no Jutsu, Kawarimi no Jutsu and Henge no Jutsu Akimichi Choji, come with me."
Shulmah waited for her turn. When her name was called she got up and walked to the next room.
"Alright, Shulmah, please perform the Bushin no Jutsu. You have to create at least ten clones to pass."
She nodded and soon the room was filled with dozens of copies after the smoke disappeared. Iruka checked them and to his amazement, they were solid clones.
"Very good, now release them and transform."
Shulmah did and then transformed into the fourth Hokage. Then transformed back.
"Very good, now use the Body Replacement."
Mizuki threw a training kunai at the girl and it embedded itself in a book.
"Very good. Here is your headband, Congratulations, Shulmah."
Shulmah took the protector and tied it around her left upper arm. With that she left. She walked back into the room. When all had gone through the test Iruka dismissed them after telling the ones that passed to be in the classroom in one week for team assignments. After that the class left. Shulmah jumped out of the window and decided to sunbathe. She heard the banter below and the whispers of the parents.
"Did you hear? That girl passed."
"How terrible, isn't she the one with…?"
"Shh… We're not supposed to talk about that."
Shulmah started growling.
"Insolent fools… Maybe I should go on a rampage, if they want it so badly," she muttered.
She sensed Mizuki coming and sat up, putting her usual mask on. Seconds later Mizuki dropped down.
"Mind if I sit here?"
"Not at all, Mizuki-sensei."
"That was a very impressive performance you did there, Shulmah. I wouldn't be surprised to see you in the Rookie of the Year position."
"Oh… That is nice of you to say sensei."
"You wanna know a secret?"
Now Shulmah was careful. She didn't trust anyone and her instincts were saying this man was bad news, but she was confident, she could handle whatever he was up to.
"Sure, what is it about?"
"Well, if a student shows great promise, he or she gets the chance for a private sensei. All you need to do is sneak into the Hokage's office and steal a scroll labeled 'Forbidden'. Then you have to learn one technique from the scroll, before the time runs out. You'll have until midnight, be at this location and wait for me."
He handed her a piece of paper and left. Naruko put the piece of paper in her pocket and made her way to the Hokage. She entered the tower and found that the new secretary was smiling at her.
"Hello, Shulmah-chan, what brings you here?" she said in a kind voice.
Ever the cautious one she was taken aback by the friendliness in her voice, but as always, she did not show it.
"Why are you acting so different than the other villagers, you do know what I am and what I hold, am I correct?"
"Yes I do," the woman nodded.
"But unlike many others, I like to see a person before I judge them. And I was once in the academy and know the difference between a kunai and a sealing scroll."
The woman smiled at the girl. Naruko nodded.
"I would like to talk to the Hokage. It is very important, can you tell me if he is free right now."
The woman checked the calendar.
"He is currently talking to the civilian council. I'll have a guard inform him."
Naruko sensed a hidden ANBU shunshin away and come back to the desk.
"Hokage-sama, wishes to speak with you immediately."
Naruko shunshined into the office and saw the Hokage just taking his seat. As usual he sent his guards away and made sure the security and privacy seals were activated.
"So what is it, Naruko-chan?" he said seriously.
If the girl said it was important and needed to speak with him even if he was in a council meeting, it was important. Naruko got out the piece of paper and handed it to her leader.
"This was given to me by Chunin Noari Mizuki. The man claims it to be part of a secret test. He told me to steal a scroll from your possession and bring it to that location, where I should learn one technique from the scroll and then give the scroll to Chunin Noari Mizuki. The scroll is identifiable by the word 'Forbidden'. I wanted to know if this was true."
"This is not true, Naruko-chan. It appears you have discovered a traitor in our midst. I will have ANBU arrest him immediately."
"Actually, if I may Ji-ji. I would like to do this and find out who he is betraying us for. I am capable of taking care of him and to be honest I haven't had a good hunt for a while."
Sarutobi thought about this and soon nodded.
"Okay, Naruko. I am here by giving you a B-rank mission. Your mission is to get all information out of the traitor Noari Mizuki and then incapacitate the target for imprisonment. While on this mission, I will deny any and all knowledge and will act accordingly to my title. However I will not share any information you have given me right now. Return to me once you are done. Do you accept this mission?"
"I accept."
And with that she left. Later that night, she snuck into the towered and got into the office. She quickly found the scroll and strapped it to her back. Then she left and headed to the forest. She used the time to copy the scroll for her own collection.
Meanwhile in the village
Iruka was sleeping peacefully when he was woken up by someone banging against his door.
"Iruka-sensei, wake up," Mizuki said from the outside.
He got up and walked to the door and found Mizuki standing outside.
"You need to come to Lord Hokage right away, it's Shulmah. She stole the Sacred Scroll."
"You mean the Scroll of Sealing?" he asked shocked.
The ninja gathered around their leader.
"Lord Hokage, this is not just a prank, this is a serious crime," one said, others agreeing.
"That scroll contains secrets sealed by the first Hokage, Secrets that are known to only our village."
"If it falls into the wrong hands, it could destroy our entire way of life."
"Alright," the Hokage said seriously.
"Bring Shulmah here at once."
"Sir!" the ninja said and took off.
They started searching the entire village. Mizuki, armed with two Windmill Shuriken, ran straight to the designated spot.
"Now that everyone knows what the girl has done, I can eliminate her. Everyone will be glad to have her gone and of course I'll take the scroll for myself," he chuckled to himself.
Back with Naruko
Naruko had been calmly waiting for Mizuki to arrive. Every now and then she would smell the air for scent and chakra. She cursed when she smelled Iruka.
Iruka dropped down in front of her.
"It's all over," he chuckled darkly.
"So it would seem," she said in her usual monotone voice.
"You are quite fast, Umino Iruka. I only had to wait for a short amount of time."
Iruka looked startled. She had been waiting?
"Listen, Umino Iruka, it would be best if you would leave, I wouldn't want you to be caught in the crossfire because of a made up test."
"What? What test?"
"It was a made up test by Noari Mizuki, for a personal sensei. I did as he asked. He told me where to find the scroll and where to go."
That was all she could do to warn her fellow Shinobi. Iruka was shocked, but then he sensed danger and pushed the girl away from the hail of kunai that came flying at her.
"Look out."
Iruka was hit.
"I see you found our little hide away," said a familiar voice.
"So that's the way it is. I should have known," Iruka said.
"I did try to warn you," Naruko said.
Up in the trees stood Mizuki, armed and ready.
"Shulmah, give me the scroll, now," Mizuki said.
Naruko stayed motionless, looking from her target to her comrade back to her target.
"Shulmah, don't let Mizuki get the scroll," Iruka said, pulling out the kunai from his body.
"It contains forbidden jutsu that could put this village in danger. Mizuki used you to get the scroll for himself and for his own power."
Naruko knew what was in the scroll, but she was amused by the banter and looked at Mizuki.
"Shulmah, Iruka is just trying to scare you so you don't get the scroll."
Shulmah looked back at Mizuki.
"Stop lying Mizuki, don't let him trick you Shulmah."
Mizuki was chuckling.
"Oh I'll tell you who is really lying."
"No, Mizuki!"
"They've been lying to you your whole life, Shulmah. Since the decreed twelve years ago."
Now Naruko had had enough. She stepped forth and looked Mizuki straight in the eyes.
"Let me guess Uragirimono, the fox?"
Both men looked shocked at the girl.
"I know about the fox, traitor. What were you hoping for? Me not knowing, so I would run once you told me? So I would attack Umino Iruka for lying? So I would attack and destroy this village? Let me tell you one thing, mate. I know who people blame, but I have found out the truth and I have found family. I could care less what the people here say."
"DIE, NINE TAILED FOX!"
Mizuki hurled one of his Windmill Shuriken at her. She was about to dodge when she saw Iruka standing in front of her, taking the hit.
"Why, Umino Iruka?" she asked confused.
"Because were the same. When my parents died I felt lonely, no one cared and had time for me. I know my life was nowhere near as bad as yours, but that does not mean I don't understand. And I know, I could have been there for you more. That's why."
He collapsed and Naruko took out the shuriken.
"Rest now, Umino Iruka. Let me handle the rest."
"Ha, as if you could take me down, me a Chunin."
"I do not care about rank, you injured a comrade and a dear friend of mine. For those crimes you shall pay."
She rushed to Mizuki and teleported herself and him to the Hunting Realm. Mizuki looked around confused.
"This will be your last battle. But I am interested, why would you want this scroll so much?"
"So I have an offering for Lord Orochimaru."
"Fitting, one traitor running to another. I will fight you now. Prepare yourself."
Mizuki got into his fitting stance.
"Bring it on, Nine Tailed Fox, show me what you've got."
"With pleasure."
She ran at him with full speed, then she slid behind him and cut his tendons in his knees and ankles with a kunai. Mizuki cried out in agony and fell to the floor. Naruko walked to the man lying on his front side and took out another kunai. She jumped into the air and rammed them into his shoulders. She teleported back to the real world and gave him the beating of his life for trying to trick her. She picked up the two Chunin and ran to the Hokage Tower. Once in the office she gave her report and was dismissed.
Iruka was hospitalized for the majority of the week for the injuries he had suffered. Most of those were puncture wounds.
Mizuki was put into Konoha's high security prison and was treated for blood loss, multiple broken bones, slashed tendons and two smashed shoulders.
The next day came quickly and Naruko turned in her report and got the check for her mission. Over the week she had upped her training regime and had doubled the values of her Gravity, Weight and Resistance Seals. It had taken her two days to get used to the new difficulty, but as always she did not stop until she could move normally. She had also started to add the techniques from the Forbidden Scroll to her personal library.
After doing that she needed to get her shinobi license. She had talked to the Holy Mother and she had agreed it would be best to go for her outfit, instead of the disguise. She put on her black top and the black shinobi pants. Then she put on her ANBU style forearm guards and gloves. She put on her trench coat and her combat boots. She had modeled them after the Spartan style shin protectors and had added a sheath for her tantos on the outside of each one. He slid Horobi (Purify) and Kiyomeru (Cleanse) into the sheaths and strapped a large quiver filled with arrows to her back. After that she slung Ma Shotto (True Shot) over the quiver and looked in the mirror. She nodded at her image and walked out of the house.
She needed to go the Hokage Tower. She walked down the street and made her way there. The civilians parted in front of her, having been informed of what she did by the council. The looked at her with disgust, anger, resentment and of course hate. Some of the more active villagers started throwing food at her, which she caught and put in her many pockets. This of course outraged the civilians even more and the started hurling rocks at her. Naruko followed suite and dodged the incoming projectiles, caught them in midair and threw them straight back at them. Seeing that they weren't getting anywhere the civilians surrounded her en masse. Naruko stood in the center and was contemplating on either sending them all to the Hunting Realm, or to save the old man the paper work and keep walking.
The villagers were growing very frustrated. None of the tactics they did worked. They were about to start beating the girl when the air became very heavy and it was too difficult to breathe. Naruko had unleashed a massive amount of KI, massive at least for the civilians. As they started to fall to the ground unconscious, she lifted the pressure and continued walking. Two minutes later ANBU found a lot of civilians passed out on the street. Naruko had finally made it to the top of the tower and had her picture taken. It looked good enough to be accepted, so she took it to the Hokage.
"This is a very good picture Naruko-chan. And I see you have chosen to use the outfit you are famous for."
"Yes, Hokage-sama. I thought it best. And also, if I could make a request regarding team placements, sir?"
"Of course. Go ahead."
"I would like to be put on a team of my own. With or without a sensei, I do not mind. I think that with my current skills I would be ideal to be put into the First Response Unit."
Hiruzen looked at the file she had personally created for him and went over the skills. She did have a point and he would waste a valuable resource if he put her on a Genin team.
"Very well, but know that you will have a very stressful position. And I want you to take the Genin test with the teacher that requested you, Hatake Kakashi."
"I am fine with that."
She got up and wanted to leave. Suddenly the door opened and someone ran straight into her pushing her back a step.
"Mmmhhh… Comfy…" came a murmur.
Naruko looked down to see an academy student rub his head into her chest. That did it for Naruko, she looked at the Hokage only to see him shake his head. She grabbed the brat and looked him straight in the eyes.
"Did you enjoy that, little man?" she asked sweetly, too sweetly.
"I… I… I…" he stuttered.
Naruko still held him, when another man entered the room.
"Are you alright Honorable Grandson?"
He looked around the room and saw Naruko.
"Let him go brat. He is the Honorable Grandson of the Honorable Third Hokage."
Naruko didn't move.
"What you afraid to hit me because the Hokage's my grandpa?"
Naruko grew a tick.
"I don't care if you're his grandmother!" she yelled and nailed him upside the head.
The ninja stuttered and Naruko left. She walked through town and noticed she was being followed. When she passed a fence she had had enough. She turned around and saw the boy she had hit with his back against the fence holding a striped cloth to cover himself from view. Problem was the stripes weren't vertical like the fences, but horizontal.
"Give it up, kid. I see you. What do you want?"
"Saw through my disguise, huh?"
He walked to her and pointed at her.
"Rumors about you are true, you're good. Alright, I'll be you're apprentice and you'll be my trainer."
Naruko swatted the hand away.
"No."
"Please, I need a new trainer, please boss?"
"Boss?"
"Yeah, you're the boss."
"Fine."
They continued to walk through town and Naruko started her lecture.
"Listen kid. To be a good ninja, you must know how to be in control and in balance with everything. You need to study and train, otherwise you'll be dead meat. Now tell me what do you know of chakra?"
"Chakra is the elemental life force a ninja uses to perform jutsu. The Ninja Arts combine physical energy from each cell in the body with mystical energy which is intensified through training and experience. When these two chakra mix, special hand signs focus this combined energy for advanced jutsu."
"Very good. Now try repeating that without the scroll."
"I… uh…"
"It's rather simple. We need chakra to do jutsu. The more powerful the jutsu, the more chakra is needed. To increase your reserves, you train and meditate. Once you have big enough reserves for the jutsu you want to perform you do the hand seals and do the jutsu. Easy, right?"
The boy nodded.
"Now you can talk about how to perform jutsu all you want, but it basically boils down to one thing. Good old hard work. Come with me and I'll show you something."
The two walked into the forest and soon they stopped.
"Okay, now the technique, I am going to show you is my personal creation. Do not do this in front of any female other than me or they will kill you. It is a distraction technique, but I would recommend you to not do it in a battle. Now the first step is to transform. Transform into me."
"O… Okay. Henge no Jutsu"
What Naruko saw made her flinch. The boy had managed the trench coat but other than that it was hideous. She encouraged him to do it again and again and again and again. And after some time he did it.
"Very good. Now this is the technique I will show you. I used it on one of my adopted brothers as a prank and it knocked him out cold.
"Oiroke no Jutsu"
Smoke appeared and there stood a fully matured Naruko in all her glory. The boy could only stutter.
"Now you try."
And try it he did, but eventually he did. They sat down on a log and drank some juice.
"So, what's up with this obsession you've got with your grandfather?"
The boy looked at her and then back to his drink.
"My grandfather named me Konohamaru, after the ancient name of the village. So it should be easy to remember."
Naruko was seeing where this was going but kept on listening.
"But no one calls me by that name, not one person in the entire village. That's because when they look at me, they don't really see me. All the see is the Honorable Grandson of the Honorable Third Hokage. No one knows who I am. I can't stand it anymore, it's like I'm invisible. Like I don't exist, I hate it. That's the reason, I've got to become the Hokage now, so know who I am."
Naruko sighed, but she had to knock his head straight.
"Get real. You think people are gonna accept a squirt like you? To be a Kage means you have to be strong, and to do that you need to train. Killing the old man will not make you the Hokage, it'll land you in a nice twelve by twelve room, with a bed, a toilet and a sink. And no sunlight. If you're lucky. There are no shortcuts. As Kage you have to care for your people. You have to protect them and be prepared to lay your life on the line in order to protect them. That is what a leader does. It takes years to become a Kage. You keep saying 'Hokage', 'Hokage', like the title would be given to you by the clap of your hands. There is only one way to be a Kage and that is to work yourself to the brink of exhaustion."
Konohamaru looked at the girl and nodded. He saw Naruko tense and wondered why. Seconds later, he got his answer.
"I found you," the ninja looked down at Naruko and Naruko looked straight back.
"So Honorable Grandson. Time to go home."
"No way, I'm learning how I can beat my grandfather, so that I can get the title, Hokage. Now don't get in my way," Konohamaru said loudly.
"A Hokage is more than just a fighter. He must know virtue, honor, wisdom, loyalty, faith, judgement, obedience and he must be skilled at more than a thousand techniques, and you don't even know one."
Konohamaru was upset.
"Henge no Jutsu!"
And out of the smoke cam a well-developed female covered by a few wisps of smoke, doing an intriguing pose.
"Hi there, like my technique."
The ninja screamed in terror.
"Hey he's not defeated."
"What kind of disgraceful technique is that? Such tasteless vulgarity could never influence me, I am far above it."
He tried to pull the boy away by his scarf, bit the boy wouldn't budge.
"Honorable Grandson stop this, Naruko is turning you into a delinquent. Only my special training can get you on the fastest track to becoming the Hokage."
As the two were fighting Naruko had gotten up and walked away a bit and faced the ninja.
"Kage Bushin no Jutsu."
The man let go and looked at her. She had made a few dozen clones.
"Hmm, I am not such light weight like Mizuki, I'm a Tokubetsu Jonin, an elite ninja warrior. Watch how a real ninja handles an upstart."
Naruko flashed a fox like grin.
"Henge no Jutsu."
And out of the smoke came a lot of well-developed blondes that attached themselves onto the ninja. The ninja flew back from the consequential nose bleed and passed out.
"Say hello to my Haremu no Jutsu."
"Oh man I couldn't even beat that snobby trainer of mine, I want to be Hokage so bad, but I keep messing up."
"You really think it's that easy? To be a Kage means to have the people believe in you. Look at me. My life is hardly the greatest. People avoided me like the plague. But after that I found a few people who believe in me. To find them I had to suffer a lot, so you better make sure you're ready for a lot of blood sweat and tears. By the way, there are no shortcuts for anything."
"Ha! Who do you think you are giving me a big lecture like that? I resign from being your apprentice. From now on, we are rivals."
"Fine by me. See ya around."
She walked away and headed to her home.
The next day Naruko made her way to the academy. She walked into class. Not wanting to bother with the usual pains she used her chakra and sat down on the ceiling and started reading. It didn't take long for the graduates filled the room. As usual the fan girls went straight at it. She sighed and kept on reading. After twenty more minutes Iruka finally came.
"As of today you are all ninja. Together you will face difficult trials and hardships. But that's nothing, what comes next will be far more difficult. Now you are only Genin, first level ninja. All Genin will be grouped into three man squads, each squad will get a Jonin Sensei, an elite ninja."
The reactions were wide spread. Of course all the fan girls wanted to be on Sasuke's team. Sasuke didn't want a team and Naruko, well, nobody knew where she was.
"We want all groups to be balanced in strength and abilities so this is how we set them up."
Iruka went through the list.
"… Squad Seven, Hatake Kakashi, Hitori Gotegma, Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura."
Sakura cried with glee and yelling about true love conquering all.
"Squad Eight, Yuuhi Kurenai, Inuzuka Kiba, Aburame Shino and Hyuuga Hinata. Squad Nine is still in rotation, Squad Ten, Sarutobi Asuma, Nara Shikamaru, Yamanaka Ino and Akimichi Choji. Squad Eleven, Shulmah."
"Excuse me Sensei?" Sakura said.
"I thought you said we would be groups of three, how come Shulmah is on her own squad?"
"Well after some time thinking Lord Hokage said she would be put into the FRU, the First Response Unit."
"Isn't that for highly skilled ninja?" a boy asked.
Naruko dropped down from the ceiling.
"It is, but unlike you, I have the experience I need."
She sat down and waited.
"That's all. After lunch, you'll meet your new sensei."
Naruko jumped out of the window and decided to check in with an old acquaintance, Shimura Danzo. She found him in his office in his underground ROOT base. She walked up to him.
"Shimura-san, I hope I am not interrupting."
Danzo nearly jumped out of his skin, though he did not show it. How did the girl manage to get into the base without alerting anyone?
"Not at all, Shinku Hantoresu. What can I do for you?"
"I need intel. And you can provide what I want."
"I see. I hope what I gave you about the clans was beneficial."
"It was very lucrative, though the Uchiha is getting more and more unstable."
"I see. But I don't think you came here to do just this, normally you send a fox with the report on the Uchiha."
"Yes, but what I need now are the files on the three newly appointed Jonin sensei and the one of Squad Nine."
"I can understand three of those, but why Hatake, he has never passed a team, what would change his mind this year?"
"Me, I have to be evaluated with his squad, so I want all the dirt I can get on him. That is what I need, what is the price?"
It may be unorthodox, but Danzo knew he could trust the girl with sensitive information and so they had set up a deal. Whenever she needed information he would provide, in exchange for the death of a few traitors to the Leaf.
"Four files, shall we say six targets?"
"Same regulations as always. I keep everything but the head as is tradition with the tribe."
"Yes. I expect their heads in two weeks, they are all in the village, remember."
"It is the shadows true purpose to conceal those who strike without a name. Unseen, unheard until the deed has long since been done."
Danzo nodded and handed her the files and the scrolls. She sealed them and use the rest of the time she had to kill her first target. It was a corrupted guild head that had been putting numbers of and paid the profit to the civilian council. He was a fat man with fine clothes, Naruko trailed him into an alley and then dropped down from above. She sealed the body and headed back to class.
Back in class she started reading through the files. She started with her examiner.
Hatake Kakashi, also known as Sharingan no Kakashi, son to Hatake Sakumo, also known as Konoha no Shiroi Kiba (Konoha's White Fang). He received his Sharingan from Uchiha Obito after a mission went south. Now he is hailed for being the man who copied over a thousand jutsu. He has a rivalry going on with Maito Gai. He threw himself into the ANBU with near suicidal tendencies after losing both of his teammates. He was student under Namikaze Minato, teammates were Inuzuka Rin and Uchiha Obito. Yuuhi Kurenai, daughter to Yuuhi Shinku. A master at Genjutsu but subpar in the other disciplines of the shinobi arts. She has an affair with Sarutobi Asuma. Has an extreme hate to perverts of any kind. Classmates with Sarutobi Asuma, Maito Gai and also Hatake Kakashi. Not much is known from her life. Teammates deceased? Other than her hate for perverts Yuuhi Kurenai is a very caring person. Recently promoted to Jonin.
Sarutobi Asuma, ex member of the Twelve Guardian Ninja. Son to Sarutobi Hiruzen also known as Kami no Shinobi (God of Shinobi). Chain smoker. He is in an affair with Yuuhi Kurenai. He is a strong fighter especially with his trench knives. Is a caring character but not to be taken lightly? He has a thirty five million ryo bounty on the black market. He is lazy and won't go out of his way unless it is necessary. He has a rather broken relationship with his father.
Naruko skimmed through the files and so that she would be happy to have no sensei, they were not up to her standard. Soon everyone had gotten picked up by their sensei, except Squad Seven who was still waiting for theirs. As she had to take the test with them she decided to stick around, not like they were noticing her. Sasuke was being swarmed by Sakura and Gotegma was in his chair napping. Naruko decided to prank the sensei for making her wait. She used her enhanced senses and heard someone coming. She sealed the files away and prepared to shoot an arrow. The door opened and an arrow shot passed his most favored parts. Kakashi was freaked out. That arrow had been so close, so close. He looked in the room and saw only three. Then out of nowhere a girl dropped down giving him the second heart attack.
"Sorry Sensei, I lost grip on the arrow."
He somehow found that very hard to believe.
"My first impression of you is… I don't like you. Squad Seven and Eleven meet me at the rooftop in five."
Naruko retrieved her arrow and headed to the roof. A couple of minutes later, Team Seven arrived.
"Alright introductions."
"Introduce ourselves? Well what are we supposed to say?"
Naruko nearly threw herself away.
"Likes, dislikes, dreams for the future, hobbies, stuff like that. I'll demonstrate. I'm Hatake Kakashi. Things I like and things I hate… well my likes aren't for your ears and dislike, no need to worry. Dreams for the future, never really thought about it. Hobbies… I have lots of hobbies."
"That was totally useless, all he really told us was his name," Sakura muttered.
"Okay your turn. Sunset."
Naruko grinned.
"The name is Shulmah. My likes and dislikes are complicated. Dreams for the future also complicated and hobbies also complicated."
"You next Chubby."
Hitori Gotegma growled.
"I am Hitori Gotegma, I like baking and fishing, I dislike idiots such as the bimbo next to me. My dream for the future is to be a Ninja Chef. My hobbies are baking, fishing, eating and reading."
"Alright next, Pinky."
"I'm Haruno Sakura. What I like…"
Looks at Sasuke and giggles.
"My hobby is…"
Looks at Sasuke and giggles.
"My dream for the future is…"
Looks at Sasuke and squeals.
"And what do you hate?"
"Shulmah-baka!"
Kakashi sighed.
"Broody you're next."
Sasuke glared but started.
"My name is Uchiha Sasuke. I hate a lot of things and I don't particularly like anything. What I have is not a dream it's an ambition. I will revive my clan and kill a certain someone."
Kakashi sighed.
"Okay you are each unique and have your own ideas. We'll have our Genin test tomorrow."
"What? But we already did a test."
"Are you really that thick Haruno? Do you really think twenty questions and three E-rank techniques make you a ninja? That test was to weed out the weak. This one weeds out those with potential."
"Correct. And a little something. This test has a fifty percent rate of failure. Be at training ground number seven at five a.m. with your ninja gear. And don't eat any breakfast, you'll just throw up. You're dismissed."
He shunshined away and Naruko followed. Soon she had caught up to him.
"Nice speech, Inu-san." she said.
"I thought you'd like it, Naru-chan."
"I hope you know that tomorrow will be hell for you. I can work in a team, no problem, but those three are the worst trash I have ever had the displeasure of having to voluntarily interact with. Know that I will beat them into working together."
"Just don't kill them."
"I won't but you'd better be on your toes and pass me. I will give them one shot at working with me each and if they blow it that's their problem."
"Fine, just don't aim those arrows there anymore, please. I still would like to be an able man."
"Fine, now I've got some hunting to do."
With that she disappeared. It took her the rest of the day to find and eliminate her targets, but she did the job and made her way to her house. She went through the portal and started to butcher the bodies. The tribe uses any meat source and only takes what little it needs from the forest. In return the forest protects the tribe and hides the camp. She was soon done and sealed the meat into a scroll and gave it to the Holy Mother. She then returned and prepared for the next day.
The next day came and Naruko set out at five. She jogged to the training ground and saw three very sleepy and hungry Genin.
"You seriously didn't eat anything?"
"We weren't supposed to, Baka!"
Naruko sighed.
"Anyway, I'm going to go hunting anyone interested?"
"As if a dobe like you knows how to hunt."
"Well this dobe is Rookie of the Year," she said and took off.
She ran along the trees and soon found two rabbits. Taking two arrows from her quiver, she took aim and released. Both rabbits were impaled. She took out the arrows and carried the rabbits back to her comrades. She took out her survival knife from the trench coat and started skinning the two rabbits. Gotegma and Sakura looked morbid and Sakura fainted while Gotegma just reviewed his dinner from last night. Sasuke was looking very pale as well. After she had skinned the rabbits she made a few clones to gather would, while she took the meat of the bones. She unsealed a pan and some fat and sealed the bones and the other unusable organs in a different scroll. She sealed the tow pelts in a scroll labeled 'Furs, Hides and Pelts'. Soon the clones returned and Naruko started the fire with some matches. The clones had brought more than enough wood so she had them dispel. She unsealed a metal stand for the frying pan and put it over the fire. She then let the pan heat up and soon added the fat. And after a while the meat. Soon the smell of fried meat filled the air and the stomachs of her three comrades were growling. Naruko added a few spices and unsealed five plates. She kept moving the pan so the meat wouldn't burn. Sure you don't want any?"
They glared at here and she put the meat on a plate and sealed everything away, after cleaning it. Naruko checked her watch, it was now seven fifty five. In five minutes Kakashi would show up with one of his excuses. She waited and then heard the shunshin,
"Sorry I'm late, a black cat crossed my way and I had to take the long way round."
"YOU'RE LATE!" Gotegma and Sakura screamed.
Kakashi ignored them and smelled the air.
"Something smells very good. Did you have food?"
Three shook their heads. Naruko unsealed the meat along with another plate and two pairs of chopsticks. She split the meat and offered it to him.
"You want some? I offered it to them but they declined. Must not be very hungry."
"Thank you, Shulmah."
He took the plate and set it aside.
"Let's get started. This timer is set for noon," he said putting a clock on a training post.
"Your assignment is very simple, you just have to get these bells from me."
He held two bells up and attached them to his pants.
"If you can't get them by noon, you go without lunch. You'll be tied to those posts and watched as I eat my lunch in front of you."
A growling noise could be heard.
"Wait a minute, there are only two bells, but four of us. How does that add up?"
"Well that way, two of you will end up tied to a post and fail the mission. Those two go back to the academy. You can use any weapon, including shuriken. If you're not prepared to kill me, you won't get the bells."
"Real weapons, but that's too dangerous sensei."
"Seriously Haruno, the life of a shinobi isn't just fun and games. It's a life and death scenario. We will need to fight sooner or later and if you are too afraid to fight, you will die."
"Correct," Kakashi nodded.
"When I say start, we begin. And… Start."
The four Genin jumped away and hid.
'Ninja must know how to conceal their movements and hide effectively' Kakashi thought.
'Well they've understood that much. They've hidden pretty well. Let's see. One… Two… Three… Crap, where the heck is Naru? This could be bad.'
Naruko was just outside the clearing on top of a tree, looking straight at the Jonin. She smirked when she thought of his words.
''If you are not prepared to kill me, you won't get the bells.' If that is what you want Inu-san, who am I to deny you such pleasures?' Naruko thought.
"Hanta no Geijutsu: Sen Satsugai Arozu," she whispered and released the arrow.
Kakashi had felt the slight increase of chakra and saw the arrow shooting into the sky. It reached its highest point and split into a thousand arrows, which came down shooting straight toward him.
"Oh, Crap!"
He ran, but it didn't matter what he did the arrows adjusted and got closer to him.
'It doesn't matter how fast you run, those arrows will follow. The secret of this technique lies not in its strength but in its mechanical theory. Those arrows will follow one or more different chakra signatures and the only way to get away is to out maneuver them. Have fun Inu-san. I'll be getting the bells off of you when you are exhausted.'
Kakashi was running for his life, literally. He was being followed by a lot of, very, very sharp arrows. He started wondering if he may have been too confident when he said aim to kill. He knew the girls file, and he knew the girls true abilities and now he started wondering, if he may have been safer back in ANBU. The girl had used one of her deadliest techniques, right of the bat. He knew the damage it could do. Then he had an idea.
"Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu."
Just as the arrows hit he was gone. A minute later he dragged himself out of the mud. He looked around and saw Naruko sitting down next to him with played curiosity. She got out a stick and poked him. Kakashi having had run at max speed for he didn't know how long was exhausted and ignored the annoying stick. He got up and so did Naruko.
"I see you don't like to wait around Shulmah. So let's get this thing started. Shinobi Battle Skills One Oh One: Taijutsu."
He reached into his pouch and pulled out his Icha! Icha! Paradise book. Naruko charged him and went straight for the kill. She created four shadow clones without hand signs and they circled him. They charged and made sure his entire attention was used for them. The last Naruko crept up and back handed him into the sides.
"That would have been you losing the bells," she said.
"See ya."
She threw a smoke bomb and disappeared.
With Kakashi
The smoke cleared and Kakashi stood in the clearing. He looked around and looked back at his book. His eyes went wide, the pages were blank.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!" he cried.
Naruko had stolen his Icha! Icha! book. He threw the fake on the ground and threw a kunai at it. The book exploded and sent him flying. He probably shouldn't have told them, or more specifically Shulmah, to aim to kill. He got back up and walked to the nearest Genin. It turned out to be Gotegma. Still having frustration to vent he let the Genin attack and avoided and maneuvered him so he could get behind him.
"Taijutsu: Sennen Goroshi!"
The boy flew through the air and landed somewhere in the forest. He felt a lot better. He sensed a bunch of projectiles coming at him. He quickly substituted himself with a log. The kunai and shuriken hit it and he heard loud rustling. He immediately went after it. He quickly caught up to the Genin and found Sasuke. He heard Sakura and did a Shadow Clone and had it stand in the open. Sakura stopped in a bush and hid. He crept over to her.
"Psst… Sakura, behind you."
She started screaming. He performed a simple Genjutsu and had her see a battered and injured Sasuke. She screamed again and fainted. He sensed Sasuke and stood out in the open.
"Shinobi Battle Skills One Oh Two. Genjutsu. Sakura studied this in the academy, but she still couldn't see it coming."
"But, I'm not like one of those idiots. Something like that could never catch me," he heard.
He quickly shunshined to a tree and leaned against it.
"Say that after you get one of these bells, my Sasuke…" he chuckled.
He walked in front of him hands in his pocket. Sasuke threw some shuriken at him and he dodged.
"That will not work."
Sasuke threw a kunai and snapped a rope. He saw the trap and dodged the incoming kunai. Sasuke shunshined to him and tried a reverse back heel kick. Kakashi blocked it with his arm. Then he grabbed it with his hand. Sasuke shifted his weight and attempted a punch to the face. Kakashi also caught that fist and Sasuke tried to kick the Jonin. This attempt was blocked also. Sasuke reached for the bells but could only touch one before they separated.
"You are different from the others, I'll grant you that."
Sasuke went through a string of hand seals and stopped on Tiger. Kakashi was surprised but quickly hid under the earth as the giant fireball hit the spot where he was stand. He quickly caught one of his feet and dragged him down into the ground.
"Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu. Can't move. Well see you later."
He walked off. He walked back to the post and had his share of the meat Naru made. He didn't know what it was, but Kami, that girl knew how to cook.
With Naruko
Naruko had followed Kakashi and had retrieved his beaten opponents. She found Gotegma nursing his rear end. Sakura was passed out in front of Sasuke, who was buried up to the neck. She woke the pinkette up and sat down.
"What did you do to Sasuke?" she screeched only to be whacked on the head by Naruko who was holding a stick.
"Shut it and listen," she growled.
"I hope you realize you are no match for a Jonin."
"Yeah? But you don't either?" Gotegma sneered, earning himself a nice whack on the head, curtesy of Naruko.
"Unlike you I had the chance to take both the bells, but that would have ruined the exercise. Do you even know why you were put on a team?"
Nobody said anything.
"Teamwork, you buffoons."
"Yeah, but I didn't see you using that when you took on Kakashi!" Sasuke said.
"Think back, duck hair. What did I use in that confrontation? Exactly, I used my clones. I use teamwork when I hunt, it's natural to me. You three are a bunch of idiots with too big egos."
"Hey, I…"
Again Naruko whacked them on the head.
"Now this is what you're going to do."
With Kakashi
Kakashi had finished the food. He saw Naruko coming.
"Was it good, Sensei?"
"Yes it was. Thank you. So the others dead?"
"No, not yet, though if they don't wake up soon, the ants, in the nests you disturbed by putting them in, might start eating them."
"What!?"
He rushed off but got intercepted by a rain of kunai and shuriken. He dodged and went straight on the defective as Sasuke and Naruko both attacked him in Taijutsu. Sasuke kept some distance, as Naruko held him in one spot.
"Katon: Gokakyu no Jutsu."
A huge fireball race towards him and engulfed them. Kakashi had switched place with a kunai and had escaped. He didn't get a breather though, as he has to fight off to new Narukos. Suddenly he heard the clinging of the bells and saw Sasuke holding them in his hand. Naruko dispelled the clones and got out his book. He rushed towards her only to find himself stopping in shock. Naruko had a kunai and held it to his book.
"The test is over. Surrender or suffer the consequences." She said in an icy tone.
Kakashi nodded and sat down. The Genin did the same.
"Good job. You worked together as a team and got the bells. So Sasuke, who is getting the other two?"
"What's the point? The bells are a distraction from the real purpose of the test. We worked together and got them. That is what you wanted to see, right?"
"Correct. Now then. Sakura, you were too obsessed with Sasuke that you didn't even bother to check on Gotegma. Gotegma, I don't care if you father is on the council. The world does not revolve around you. Get your butt out of your ass and look around for once. The same goes for you. You didn't want to work together, thinking your teammates were far beyond you. It took Shulmah to beat you to be a team. Now Shulmah, I can't really say anything. You showed a good head on you're shoulders, a good strategy and the ability to work together, not only with your clones, but also with another squad, which will take you very far in the field you are in. Congratulations you pass."
Shulmah nodded and walked away. She needed to go to the Hokage and to Danzo. Kakashi looked after her and then at his squad. He might have not gotten his sensei's daughter like he requested, but now he knew she could take care for herself. He reached into his pocket and the stared at the retreating form of the girl. The vixen still had his book. He sighed.
"Well done team. Tomorrow Squad Seven takes its first mission."
