Katili was a cruel, heartless lion. He did things of which no one dare speak. Having a cub made not a difference since she was female. He forced himself upon Sarafina for nothing as so he felt.
"But Katili, she's just a cub!," Sarafina said.
"That matters not to me! I do not want a female! GET RID OF IT!," Katili spat as he stared at his daughter.
"I will not! She is my-," came the lioness' angry reply. Before she could finish speaking, the cruel male had struck her. Sarafina woke up in the dead of night dazed and confused until it all came back to her.
I need to get the hell out of here! My child is not safe. That bastard is done ruining my life! She thought to herself in a panic as she picked up her little daughter and ran out of the den. The cream coated lioness ran until she almost dropped her cub from exhaustion.
"My kings, I hope they're alright. I'd better get the king.," stated a hornbill who flew to a red maned and golden pelted lion. "King Mufasa!"
"Zazu, is everything alright?"
"Please come quickly! A lioness and cub are at the border who look to be in danger!" The king raced to the border without another word.
"Get Rafiki Zazu!"
"Yes sire.," the bird stated as he flew away. When Sarafina opened her eyes, she saw that she was in a den. She looked around and saw a golden pelted, red maned lion sleeping near her.
"Excuse me sir…," she said nervously. Mufasa blinked open his eyes only to stare into Sarafina's blue ones.
"Hello my dear, I see you've finally awoken. How are you feeling?"
"Much better thank you. My name is Sarafina. May I ask your name?, replied Sarafina.
"Sarafina?! My kings, it's been so long! It's Mufasa. Do you remember us being friends as cubs?"
"Mufasa!," the female exclaimed, ecstatic. They gave each other friendly nuzzles to show their fondness.
"How've you been?," Mufasa said.
"Not well…my mate was abusive and so I left.
"Well I have news for you. You can stay here away from that sorry excuse for a lion.," the male replied.
"Just to let you know, I do have a daughter who was disowned by him.," she answered.
"Of course she can stay as well. What's her name?"
"Well…she has no name yet because I was going to let Katili name her." Mufasa thought of a perfect name for what he believed was a beautiful child.
"What about Nala?"
"Oh how beautiful!," Sarafina cooed. Then she looked around for her and noticed she was gone.
"Don't worry, she is with Sarabi and our son Simba. She knew it was you as soon as she saw you. Guess she was right.," the king chuckled. "Come on, I'll take you to her." The two walked a short distance to the main den and entered quietly as not to wake the cubs. There in the back laying on a platform was Sarabi with two balls of fur nestled between her paws.
"Your son is so adorable!," Sarafina told Sarabi.
"Your little lady is as well. What's her name?,"
"Nala.," came the reply. "Mufasa named her. It's a long story. I'll tell you while we feed our cubs." And with that, Sarafina took her mewing daughter and laid next to her best friend, telling her the story of her pain.
A/N: What did you think. I could possibly make this into a longer story if I tried, but for now this is it.
