BROKEN BIRTHDAY BONDS: Episode 7
-Lucy's POV-
"I have something to tell you," the Fire Dragon Slayer said shyly itching at his cheeks.
"Y-yes?" I questioned. My heart was beating so fast that I feared it would burst out of my chest.
"I've known you for a while and we've had many good times together in the past. You're really important to me."
My heart stopped right there as I waited in anticipation.
"Happy and I - well, mostly just me – agree that you are more than just nakama." He stopped to take a deep breath, nervously shuffled from right foot to left foot, and fiddled with his fingers. "I want to protect you with my life. Will you…"
"Here it comes," I thought in my brain. Finally, the moment I've waited for.
"Will you go out with me, Lisanna?" he exclaimed.
…
My whole world shook and came tumbling down.
"Wait, Natsu, my name is Lucy," I tried correcting. "Lu-cy," I sounded out.
"Lisanna, you don't know how long I've wanted to say this. After we all thought you died, I was the only one who never accepted your death." He lessened the distance between us and gently cupped my cheek in his hand. "Lisanna."
"Please, s-st-"
"Lisanna." Again with her name. Stop it.
Slowly inching closer, he enclosed the distance between us. "Lisanna," he repeated.
Stop.
He ran his fingers through my hair, a gleam of endearment in his eyes. "Lisanna."
Stop it, please!
A mere centimeter away were his lips from mine and again he…"Lisanna."
"No! No! Lucy, Lucy, my name is Lucy!"
"Lisanna."
"Lucy, Lucy, Lucy! My name is…" I cried and sobbed. My heart clenched, I couldn't breathe, my heart shattered like glass.
"My name is-"
"Lucy? Lucy! Lucy!"
I opened my eyes and saw a blur of colors surround me.
"Lucy, wake up. Are you okay?"
"S-sting?"
He held me tightly in his embrace as I cried. "My name is Lucy!" I wept into his shoulder. "It's Lucy."
"Sh. I know. Your name is Lucy," he confirmed. The only thing I could do was sob into his chest. How pathetic must've I looked? A member of Fairy Tail crying all because of a stupid nightmare.
I laughed pathetically to myself– almost like a mad man.
"What's wrong," the White Dragon Slayer questioned.
"Minerva was right," I chuckled. He gave me a questioned look. "Youwere right, Sting. As much as I hate to admit it, you two were right. I am a pathetic fairy – no, I'm not even good enough to call myself a member of Fairy Tail. I'm just a weak girl who couldn't live up to the standards of mages." The luster in my eye drained away and Sting noticed.
"What has gotten into you? Where's that cheerful spirit you always have? Why are you looking down on yourself? You are probably the strongest celestial wizard that ever walked into existence. You surpassed Karen by far and you hold almost all of the Golden Keys to the Zodiac. Look at yourself, Lucy!"
"Then why aren't I good enough. Why doesn't he notice me?" By the time my tears had dried from my cheeks, a new stream had already been pushed down by the harsh laws of gravity. He might've known who I was referring to, maybe not. At that point, I was sure that I wasn't making any sense at all.
Sting took a deep breath and released it. "Listen, Lucy, you are beautiful and talented. If he can't see you then forget him. There is someone else out there for you."
I looked up at him, slightly confused, but touched as well. I giggled.
"W-what are you laughing at, Blondie?" he asked flustered.
"I'm just surprised by your soft side, that's all. I wasn't really expecting it so it caught me off guard a bit. But it's nice. I like it. And your blushing is cute," I teased. His cheeks heated up a bit more and he tossed me from his arms from embarrassment.
"It looks like you're feeling better, so I'll be going now. Get ready, I'm taking you on another mission this afternoon." He made his way to the door and didn't turn around when I called out to him.
"Sting, thank you."
He stopped to listen but did not face me. "Hm," was his reply of acknowledgment and then he walked out.
I looked at myself in the mirror for a bit and watched the movement of my reflection. I placed a hand on the reflective glass and watched as my image connected to my physical self.
"After today, I'm going back to Fairy Tail," I said to myself. Why did I feel…unhappy?
"What's wrong with your face, fairy?"
I looked over to see Lector standing on the dresser next to me. "Oh, Lector it's just you."
"I somehow feel insulted. Any who, Sting wanted me to pass a message onto you. He's going out on a short mission and will be back tonight. He wanted me to keep you company while he's away."
"A mission? Is he by himself?" I asked slightly surprised.
"He said it was just a meeting and that he'd be home as soon as it was over," the exceed explained.
"Sting is at a meeting…" I repeated in disbelief. It just seemed so unlike him. A giggle escaped my lips.
"So what do you wish to do today, fairy? Sting told me to do whatever you asked."
"Anything I ask, huh?" This could be interesting. "Hey Lector, can you tell me Sting's most embarrassing moments?" I evilly laughed in my head.
"Well, he did say to do whatever you wanted – so, there was this one time when Sting got his underwear caught…" and so he continued to tell me the embarrassing sides of the dragon slayer.
…
"Oi, are you here?" Sting called out to the empty space.
"I am here." A girl called out from behind a tree.
"Good. I need to talk to you about the plan. I can't follow through with this anymore," the dragon slayer stated.
The mystery girl was taken aback by this. She was not expecting him to back down from this job.
"I hired you because I thought you could fulfill this mission, Mr. Eucliff. Your job is just about finished. Why stop now?" she asked in slight panic.
"I can't continue this mission. I have my reasons."
"I already paid you a wealthy amount-"
"Here." Sting said pulling out the large amount of money. "Every single dollar you've handed me is in this pile. I'm returning it to you."
Sting handed her the jewels and took a step back. "I'm sorry. I wanted to help you out, honestly. Some things just came up and I'm no longer able to help you through with this plan. I can't keep Lucy occupied anymore. She's going back to Fairy Tail after today and I can't help you set up a relationship for Lucy and Natsu anymore."
"Wait, Mr. Eucliff," she pleaded.
The dragon slayer shook his head. "Call me Sting. It was a pleasure doing business with you." He began to walk away after returning the payment.
"Sting! At least tell me why you're quitting on me," the white haired woman called out.
"Lisanna, I'm quitting because I'm falling in love with Lucy. No, I already fell for her."
Nothing was said after that. Only the whistling of the wind was heard as Lisanna stood there, unsure of what to do now.
I'm falling in love with Lucy.
Meilin: UGH IT'S SO SHORT! I am so incredibly sorry that it took me 6 months to update. My gosh, things have been so hectic. I need time to slow down just a little. That's all I'm asking for!
I don't really have time right now to put up a chat session at the end, but I hope you guys are pleased with this chapter. I DID NOT proof read this AT ALL, so please point out the mistakes and I will fix them as soon as I can.
Oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR my daarlings!
