"Zoro!"
Zoro bent slightly at his stomach as Luffy jumped and landed harshly on his stomach, knocking the air out of the first mate. Luffy held his arms out past Zoro's shoulders, a goofy smile on his face as he lay on top of Zoro like nothing was wrong with the position.
"I'm hungry!" Luffy whined, setting his cheek on Zoro's chest with a groan and a sigh.
"Then go ask that stupid cook." Zoro yawned, patting his head while he put his arm behind his head and laid back down onto the deck.
He was quite used to Luffy suddenly jumping on top of him and just sitting or laying upon him. It was like Zoro himself were a chair or bed for Luffy to use; though he really didn't mind being one. It took him a bit for him to finally admit to it….but he had feelings for the goofy, immature captain.
"You can't go to sleep!" Luffy complained, sitting up and bouncing on Zoro's waist as he straddling him with a pout. He smacked his hands on Zoro's chest, making the green haired man groan and crack his eyes open to look up at Luffy who was smiling down at him with the same big smile. "Come play with me!"
Zoro raised an eyebrow, his mind not going in the right direction that Luffy meant, but instead the perverse way his mind wanted. "I'll play with you alright."
"Eh?" Luffy asked, not hearing what Zoro had said.
Zoro reached out towards Luffy and wrapped his arm around his back, pulling the dark haired boy to the deck as Zoro hovered over him with a smirk. Luffy stared up in surprise and confusion, not sure what Zoro was doing, yet he smiled thinking they were going to wrestle around or fight; something he loved doing ot kill time. Instead Zoro leaned forward closely to him and smirked, breathing over his face.
"Just stay quiet for awhile." He said with a chuckle.
Before Luffy could react Zoro flopped to the side with Luffy and pulled him onto his arm, letting Luffy use his arm as a makeshift pillow. Zoro quickly fell back into sleep as if he had never woken up to begin with. Luffy laid there in confusion before a childish pout crossed over his face realizing he wasn't going to be able to play with Zoro for awhile.
He struggled against Zoro's arm, but the lead arm was holding him down to the deck. He let out a frustrated groan and smacked at the arm around his shoulders, wanting to get out and find someone else to play with until Zoro woke up. But the longer he was laying down on the deck and unable to move, the sleepier he got, and soon it was too much for even his brain to handle.
Zoro cracked his eyes open as a yawn escaped him, waking him up from his slumber that must have been for awhile since he was so stiff. He tried to sit up and stretch his arms above his head, but something was trapping it down.
"Oi," Zoro said, spotting Luffy fast asleep and still curled up as if Zoro were still laying next to him. A snot bubble was coming out of his nose as the deep slumber had completely over taken him. "Oi, wake up."
He pinched Luffy's nose, watching as said boy furrowed his brows and began to grumble in irritation at whatever was blocking his breathing. Suddenly his eyes snapped open and he sat up quickly, looking around for whoever had been suffocating him.
"Zoro! Why you!" Luffy said, before stopping and looking around in confusion. "Eh? What happened?"
Zoro nearly fell over at his obliviousness, wondering how their captain could be so stupid at times. He let out a groan and placed his hand to his face, shaking his head and throwing out all doubt over his captain like he knew he should. A growl rang through the air, making Zoro look up and see Luffy deflate in hunger with his tongue lulling out of his mouth.
A small chuckle came out of Zoro as he tried to cover his mouth to stop it. "Let's go see if that idiot cook has made something." He said, ruffling Luffy's hair.
"Land!" Nami cried in joy, stretching out her body as she walked on the hard dirt. "It's been forever!"
"It's always nice to be able to walk on the ground again," Robin agreed, looking around the small dock that they pulled up in.
"Alright! Let's get our supplies that are needed!" Nami said, before spouting off about how if they wanted money to spend for personal things they'd pay her back in interest.
Most of the day they all just wandered around the small town, looking at the shops they had and getting a sense of where they were on the Grand Line. It was a fairly well populated town as the streets were crowded and people bustled about constantly.
"Luffy, slow down," Zoro said, hitting Luffy in the head and making their captain shout in argument.
"It's a wonder how all our money doesn't dry out from him." Nami sighed, looking at the piles of plates stacked up all around the table.
"Ah!" Someone gasped behind them, making Zoro tilt his head slightly and glance with the others towards what was going on and who gasped.
There stood a girl with short brown hair and bright green eyes, staring at them with stars in her eyes, which in itself surprised all of them. The girl all but pushed past people to get to their table and stood there with her eyes directly looking at Zoro.
"You're him right? Roronoa Zoro? Legendary Pirate Hunter?" She asked excitedly and slightly loud.
"I'm not a pirate hunter." He said, never really understanding why people deliberately labeled him as that. He only did that job because he needed money at the time. "I'm a pirate now."
"Eh?" The girl looked utterly confused as she looked around at everyone else at the table, seeing no characteristics or hints that this group of people were pirates. If anything Zoro looked the most like a pirate out of all of them. She furrowed her brows and glared at all of them. "But why? Why would you want to become a retched pirate? They're horrible people!"
Zoro's eyes narrowed and darkened as he looked at her with a threatening glare. His eyes caught sight of the sword on her hip and some things seemed to slip into place as to why she knew him and why she was acting so strangely.
"Everyone chooses their own path." He said, turning his head back towards the others and ignoring the girl.
"But you were so good as a pirate hunter! You left everything behind when you became a pirate didn't you? That's not right!" She argued, glaring at the others as if it were all their faults. "Don't you ever wish you could go back? Back to how great you were?"
There was silence for a moment between all of them, waiting for Zoro to answer her, but the longer the silence went on the more she began to understand his answer.
"Me being great is going to be determined by where I go or who I'm with." He told her finally, glancing at her briefly and showing the stone hard determination in his eyes. "Listen kid, power comes from the person, not from what they do."
The woman didn't want to accept it as she clenched her fists and looked at him with eyes with questioning trying to understand where he came from. She turned on her heel and walked out, irritation wafting off of her more than anything else, but she couldn't deny what he was saying. The silence seemed to stick with the group for a bit longer until finally someone broke it.
"Seems Zoro had a little fangirl!" Usopp joked, smiling at Zoro with a mischievous and teasing way.
Though the atmosphere was brought back to normal with talking and joking, the one person who was usually louder than others and talking away like a motor mouth was the most quiet of them all. He stared in thought at the table, trying to sort out his own thoughts and trying to make sense of it all.
Luffy didn't know why he was so frustrated over the girl being so angry, but what she had said made Luffy feel guilty over making Zoro become a part of his pirate crew. He wondered if Zoro really regretted becoming a pirate and wished to go back to how they were before, but the more he thought about it the more irritated and frustrated he was making himself.
"So this is where you're hiding at." Zoro said later on that night as he climbed up to the bird's nest which was actually Zoro's training room. "You've been quiet all day. Got a stomach bug or something?"
Luffy glanced up at him and shrugged his shoulders, making Zoro raise an eyebrow. Something had to be wrong with him if he wasn't even talking anymore. Usually he was talking so much they needed to shut him up forcefully.
"So we're using the silent talk now." Zoro sighed, plopping onto the bed next to Luffy and staring off into the same direction out the windows, allowing Luffy the quiet he needed to figure out what ever he was trying to.
"Ne, Zoro." Luffy finally said out loud, surprising Zoro by the sudden sound and he glanced over. "Do you want to leave? Y'know, go back to your old ways?"
Zoro raised an eyebrow again, and shrugged his shoulders. "Do you want me to leave?" Luffy furiously shook his head, showing how against it he was. "If you told me you no longer wanted me on this ship, I'd leave. If you told me to stop being a pirate, I would."
Luffy stared in shock at Zoro, never knowing that he'd listen to him so much. "And if I told you to die?" He asked, wondering how far Zoro would go for him.
"Not a chance." Zoro chuckled, looking over at Luffy. "Who'd be there to protect your ass if I weren't there?"
Luffy smiled and let out a laugh. He felt like his heart was swelling at the thought of Zoro doing everything for Luffy and staying on this ship because of Luffy himself. He leaned over while he grabbed his crossed legs and let his head hit Zoro's shoulder lazily. Luffy let out a sigh and smiled with a small laugh, unable to control the gittery, butterfly feeling that was rising out of him.
Zoro reached out and pushed Luffy down to the bed, leaning over him so his earrings dangled next to his face and made a slight clinking sound. He couldn't stop himself from wanting to touch him in any way after basically confessing his feelings for Luffy. Though from the looks of it Luffy didn't understand the confession and took it like any other devoted captain.
"Do you even understand what I just told you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at Luffy, trying to find some spark of understanding in his eyes.
"Yeah! You'll be my Nakama forever!" Luffy chuckled, reaching his arms up and clapping them on Zoro's cheeks. He pulled out and made Zoro do a goofy smile, trying to get the usually grumpy swordsman to show some form of glee.
Zoro grabbed his wrist and pulled his from his stretched cheeks, giving a sigh and looking at Luffy with serious eyes that grew darker by the second. His pride was struggling inside of him on whether to tell him directly or to play it cool and have the boy figure it out. But his mind was impatient and really didn't want to wait any longer.
"I just told you I wanted to be with you forever. Do you understand what that means?" Zoro asked leaning forward until their noses brushed against one another and his breath ran over Luffy's face gently like a soft blanket.
Luffy's mind processed quickly what Zoro had said, but at the same time it was whirring around in circles in a frantic panic at how close Zoro was getting to him. His body was reacting once more to how close Zoro was, and it confused Luffy even more, and still brought him closer to the answer he needed.
Zoro gave no warning before leaning down and setting his lips on Luffy's, feeling how soft his lips were; almost like a girl's would be. He pushed into the smaller boy, giving no space and no air between them to separate them even a bit. The kiss was more intense than Zoro originally intended, but he couldn't stop himself once his lips were on Luffy's; it was like his body was in full control now.
He pulled on his lower lip ever so gently, making Luffy nearly shout out in surprise. Zoro took the moment to slip his tongue inside of Luffy's mouth and instantly wrap his tongue around Luffy's own, massaging it and tugging on it slightly. Saliva dripped out of Luffy's mouth as he was completely enveloped by the kiss, bringing him in any time he thought he had a few seconds to spare to break free.
Finally Zoro pulled back with his tongue still slightly out of his mouth, watching as the saliva broke between them and looked down at the dazed Luffy, whose eyes were completely clouded and who looked pinkish in the cheeks. This made Zoro's pride flare up in excitement at knowing he could make the boy he loved look like this from such a simple little kiss.
"Do you understand me now?" He asked, a smile on his face with a small chuckle escaping him accidentally.
"N…." Luffy began to say, trying to clear him mind ever so slightly to form sentences. "Nakama don't do that."
He took Zoro by surprise, and it hurt the swordsman slightly at thinking Luffy was still thinking of him as a nakama after all of that. But Luffy didn't mean it that way at all. Instead it was just him processing what happened slowly and forming a conclusion in his head by saying it out loud.
"In some ways you're still a kid," He sighed, sitting up from over Luffy and sliding off the bed.
"Where are you going?" Luffy asked, sitting up himself and watching Zoro reach the latched door to climb back down.
"Giving you time to think." He shrugged before sliding down from the latch and leaving Luffy up there alone.
"Wha?" Luffy asked, sitting up completely and looking at the door hatch in complete and utter confusion. He didn't know what just happened, or what he had to think about. "Zoro…he…." Luffy couldn't stop the blush that erupted onto his face, making him put a hand over his mouth and nose to try and push it down physically somehow.
"What did you do to Luffy?" Nami asked, crossing her arms as she blocked the sun from Zoro's eyes and made him crack them open to look at her.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Zoro groaned, turning over to his side to make her look at his back.
She wasn't taking that as an answer though and walked around him to look him in the face once more. "we all know you did something. Look at him." She waved her arm towards Luffy who was sitting on the figure head like he had been doing all day long. "He hasn't moved and won't talk to anyone."
Zoro glanced at Luffy, knowing what he did probably sent the captain into shock, leaving him in a state of utter confusion. He shrugged one of his shoulders, trying to play it off like he didn't care. "Maybe he's sick."
Nami narrowed her eyes and lifted her leg before slamming her foot down into his side painfully. He jerked from the impact and let out a deep breath of air. "Fix it…..NOW."
Nami looked like the devil himself as she glared down at Zoro, making him sweat in fright over what the consequences would be if he didn't do as she said. Somehow it made it seem like she was the law enforcer and in charge and not Luffy.
"Oi," Zoro said, walking up to Luffy who was still sitting on the figure head while everyone was chilling around the deck somewhere. It took him awhile to gather up his courage and stuff his pride back down to finally walk over to Luffy to sort it all out.
Luffy jumped in place and continued to face forward, but Zoro knew he was completely aware of him standing at the edge of the deck by the tense muscles in his back. He could see Luffy fumbling his hands in his lap, trying to make his nervousness go away about whatever was on his mind.
"You're freaking everyone else out by sitting up here all day." Zoro told him brutally honestly. "I didn't think you'd freak out so much over all of it." He told him with a sigh, rubbing the back of his neck from his own nervousness.
Luffy continued to sit there, but his shoulders hunched over ever so slightly, showing he knew he was guilty from freaking everyone out of his odd behavior. But still he wouldn't turn to look at Zoro, or even made a move to try and leave the figure head.
"Listen, just….." Zoro stopped and rubbed his neck again. He let out a sigh and looked at Luffy's back, hating himself for having to stoop to this part. "…Just forget what had happened. No one wants you this way, so just forget it all."
That seemed to have gotten a reaction out of Luffy as he sat up straight. Suddenly he jerked around and stared at Zoro with wide eyes full of confusion and panic. He shook his head furiously, denying Zoro of the luxury of just getting past it all. The shake of his head made Zoro's heart plummet at the thought of Luffy not dropping it. Once more he jumped to conclusions and thought Luffy was going to hold a grudge against him now for that kiss.
"I don't wanna!" Luffy said, his brows furrowing in frustration, like a little kid would when they began to pout. "I don't want to forget!"
"You have to!" Zoro shouted back, grabbing the other's attention's towards their little fight that was causing such a ruckus now. "You have no other choice!"
Luffy furrowed his brows once more and shook his head, slamming his hands on the figure head in frustration as him and Zoro glared at one another. They were waiting for one or the other to break away and give the other victory, and letting whoever won make the choice.
"I'm not going to forget it!" Luffy shouted, pushing off from the figure head and landing directly in front of Zoro with determination across his face. "You said you'd do whatever I told you, right?" Zoro couldn't deny it as he finally looked away and gave Luffy victory. "Then I'm telling you that we won't forget it!"
"We don't need a captain who can't concentrate on anything." Zoro groaned, putting a hand to his forehead and rubbing it in frustration. He couldn't believe Luffy was being so stubborn about all of it.
Luffy furrowed his brows once more and reached out, grabbing Zoro's hand and pulled his from his forehead, making the swordsman look at Luffy directly to see how stubborn he actually was about it all. "Do you want to forget it?" Luffy asked, desperately asking with his eyes. "There's no way I can forget it! And you promised not to leave my side!"
Zoro felt the blush erupt across his cheeks as Luffy shouted that out, letting everyone hear his confession he had made to Luffy. He clamped a hand over Luffy's mouth, trying to shut him up so they can find somewhere more private to argue about this and not in front of the others who were all gathering around and paying close attention to the small argument.
Luffy furrowed his brows even more and jerked Zoro's hand away, making the swordsman look back at him finally when he tried to argue and stop him from telling them any more of his embarrassing confusion. Luffy on the other hand had other plans as he griped his wrist tightly and didn't let him budge to cover his mouth again.
Luffy stood on his toes and pushed forward, taking the intiative this time and kissing Zoro fiercely. He didn't really know what to do, but he tried to mimic Zoro from the first time as he pressed into Zoro futiley and pulled on his lower lip. Zoro grunted in surprise at the sudden kiss, but was swallowed completely instantly.
Luffy pulled back from him before he could kiss back and take the lead, leaving Luffy with a smile on his face and Zoro with furrowed brows of frustration. They stared at each other in silence while the crew behind them giggled slightly, making the both of them finally snap back to it.
"Finally!" Nami said with a great laugh, clapping her hands as Zoro turned red and jerked his head around. He glared at Nami in embarrassment and irritation now that he knew this was all part of her plan.
"Shut up, you stupid woman!" He shouted in embarrassment.
"He asked us to help! And we must do what the captain says." Sanji said with a smug smirk on his face and a shrug with his hands in the air.
Zoro opened his mouth to shout at the cook that he fights with all the time before clamping it shut and furrowing his brows in confusion this time. He looked back at Luffy in confusion who was smiling back at him cheekily.
"You stupid brat," He sighed, putting a hand to his face again.
He had completely played into Luffy's trap of bringing him in. The cheeky little captain had completely got him with the playing of confusion and silence, making him worry needlessly. He felt even more embarrassed to be played by Luffy.
