"What are ya goin' to cry?" A child taunted as he smirked deviously at the little girl with pink hair who was gritting her teeth and clenching her fist hard, trying to keep the tears from running down her face.

"Yeah! Go ahead and cry ya big baby!" Another joined in.

Three small boys started tormenting the tall girl who was slightly larger in height than normal kids her age. She was tormented like this every day…just because she was different from them. From her abnormal height, to her pink hair, everything about her was different from others; and yet she couldn't seem to make friends because of it and was always put into a state of crying.

One of the boys pushed her slightly, making her snap out of her concentration to not cry. "Just leave already you freak! Cry to your brothers and go away!"

The tears couldn't be stopped anymore as they spilled down her cheeks and left her in a fit of hiccups. She hated that she had to be such a cry baby, but it wasn't as if she could take them down or be mean to them, it just wasn't in her to do so. She wanted her brothers to show up and teach them a lesson, but that would probably worsen the torment because she'd be doing just as they taunted her to do.

"Oi!"

The boys stopped laughing and turned their attention behind them where the voice came from. Before they could see where the voice was at, a fist came flying towards the leaders face, knocking him back and down to the ground on his butt. The boy sat there in shock as he cupped his cheek which was turning red and tears came to his eyes.

"Didn't anyone ever teach you not to be mean to girls?!" A small boy with black hair said.

The three boys looked at the crazy haired boy who had anger flashing in his eyes and puffing air angrily from his nose. Their eyes trailed to his clenched fists and his stance of ready for another punch, and finally to the scar beneath his eye. Their imagination went crazy as they thought of how this small boy could have such a scar on his face already, and it ranged from anywhere from a small fight, to being the heir to the yakuza, and possibly an assassin. Their imagination was so great that it left them quaking where they were. All of them began to sweat profusely, wondering what the crazy boy would do to them next.

"Go!" He shouted, making them jump and take off running in the opposite direction.

The boy huffed once more before relaxing his stance and walking over to the girl. He patted her shoulders to make sure she wasn't dirty and looked over her in a rush, making sure there wasn't anything hurt on her. He looked up at her and she could see his eyes widen in surprise at how big she was. She waited for the barrage of insults from him as well, knowing he had to be shocked by her height. Instead he flashed her a wide grin and let out a small chuckle.

"You should've just punch 'em!" He told her with another laugh. He held up his fist as if it was this powerful weapon that could do anything. His smile was just so wide and goofy that she couldn't help but smile back at him. Her tears stopped and she wiped them away quickly as the smile seemed to spread through her greatly. "I'm Luffy!" He said, sticking his thumb out to him.

"Shirahoshi," She said back timidly, her voice barely making any sound.

"Shirahoshi!"

Shirahoshi looked behind Luffy as her three older brothers came bounding down the sidewalk at a dead run and into the small lot they were in. They spotted Luffy and glared, picking him up and shaking him slightly.

"What did you do to Shirahoshi?!" Her oldest brother asked, giving him a glare that would probably kill if it could.

"Nii-san! He didn't do anything!" Shirahoshi yelled, tugging on her brothers shirt to make him stop. "He helped me!"

The older brother stopped shaking Luffy and dropped him suddenly, letting him slump to the floor as the dizziness settled down. Her older brother crouched down and looked her in the eyes. "He helped you? We heard you crying as we were coming to pick you up. W-we didn't know he helped you!" He said desperately as the tears started to build up in her eyes once more.

"Luffy-san!" She said, ignoring her brother and helping Luffy off the ground and dusting him off.

"We apologize for our rude behavior." The three brothers apologized. "Is he a friend of your Shirahoshi?"

Shirahoshi opened her mouth and looked back and forth between her brothers and Luffy. She wanted to say yes because he did just save her and was being nice, but at the same time she didn't know if he wanted to be called her friend and be associated with someone as tall as her.

"Yeah!" Luffy answered quickly, a big goofy grin on his face again. He was looking directly at the three older brothers with no fear or worry in his face at all.

"MM!" Shirahoshi said with a wide smile on her own face. She was beaming in joy at the thought of finally making a friend who wouldn't see her faults like others did.

"Well, then come over any time and eat with us," The eldest said politely, nodding his thanks to the small boy.

"Yay!" Luffy shouted, jumping up in his own excitement at the thought of food.

"See you tomorrow!" Shirahoshi said as she waved to him goodbye and followed her brothers out of the lot and towards their house.

"Luffy-san!"

Shirahoshi had grown up to be quite a beauty. He long pink hair was slightly curly and went down to her butt, and her eyes grew so bright and beautiful with her long lashes. Her height had evened out finally and her body…..well it was already just like a woman's. She was only a freshman in high school and already all the boys in the school were after her; they wanted Shirahoshi to be theirs alone. But there was only one guy she actually let near her…..

"Ah! Shira!" Luffy shouted back as he spotted his long time friend bounding down the hallway towards him. "Your class over?"

"Mm!" She nodded with a smile. "I brought lunch today. Do you want any?"

"Lunch?!" He repeated, his tongue lolling out and his eyes sparkling in excitement at the thought of Shirahoshi's homemade food. To him her food was some of the best he's tasted, and thankfully she always made large amounts.

"Hey! Shirahoshi! Can we join?" A few guys asked, blocking her way back towards the outside. They leader held up his hand and gave her a smile as he tried to catch her attention.

"Um, I don't think I have enough for all of you…" She said, her voice becoming quiet and her nervousness berating her harshly.

"That's okay! We have our own!" They said, holding up their lunches.

She didn't really want them to come down with her and Luffy. They didn't have any classes together, and Lunch time was the only time she really got to spend time with him during the school day. She wanted it to just be her and Luffy. But she couldn't find the harsh words of telling them 'no' and just left her mouth open, hoping one of them would get the hint.

"I'm hungry!" Luffy said, grabbing Shirahoshi's hand and pushing past the three guys. He took off at a dead run down the hallway and was dragging her behind him, not giving the guys that were just in front of them a chance to follow after.

"Thank you Luffy-san." She said with a sigh as they sat down in their usual spot.

"For what?" Luffy asked while tilting his head with his mouth full.

Shirahoshi giggled and shook her head. "Nevermind." She picked up her own bento and ate slowly as Luffy chowed down quickly on his food, leaving himself no time to even chew. Even though nothing was really going on aside from them eating with one another, Shirahoshi loved every second of it. She didn't feel scared and uncomfortable around Luffy like she did other boys. She knew what she felt for Luffy was love, but her nervousness and shyness wouldn't allow her to tell him her overwhelming feelings. She wasn't even sure if he'd understand her if she confessed them to him. She let out a deep sigh and chewed on her chopsticks, lost in her own thoughts as she stared at the sky. She needed to find a way to tell him and gain enough courage!

"What's wrong?" Luffy asked, spotting Shirahoshi zoning out in the middle of eating.

She shook her head and gave him a smile, knocking herself out of her thoughts of him and feeling the blush creep onto her cheeks. "Ne, Luffy-san! Do you want to come over today and eat dinner with my family?"

"Food?!" He asked, eyes already shining at the thought of his next meal. He knew Shirahoshi's family had a large meal all the time, and it was enough to feed ten of him if needed. "Yeah! Let's eat at your house!" He pumped his fists into the air, making Shirahoshi smile in joy at him agreeing to go with her.

"Hey! Luffy!"

The dark haired boy turned around in his seat staring at the boys who had crowded behind him with their brows furrowed and their arms crossed. He had absolute confusion and innocence on his face as to why they looked angry.

"What are you to Shirahoshi?"

"Eh?" He asked, popping the lollipop out of his mouth that he was working on. "Shira?"

"Are you two together?"

"Together?" Luffy hummed as he thought about it. Technically they were together all the time, and so he couldn't say they weren't together at all. "Mm! We're together!"

The boys behind him dropped their jaws to the floor as a dark gloom came over their heads. They couldn't believe that the most stupid boy in their school and the most silly one was dating Shirahoshi, the smartest, most beautiful girl in their school. It was an impossibility in their head. But now that Luffy straight out told them their relationship it made their hopes crash.

"I'll steal her from you! I'll make sure Shirahoshi never comes around you again!" The leader shouted in jealousy as he pointed his finger at Luffy in a threatening way.

Luffy stared at the boy in puzzlement, wondering why he was so intent on taking Shirahoshi away. But as he thought about the boy taking Shirahoshi away and making her cry again, it started to make his blood boil. He thought of how Shirahoshi would be held captive and how they wouldn't let him near her and it made him even angrier. The boys were standing proudly together with smirks on their faces….that is until they finally looked at Luffy and a cold shiver ran down their spines. Never have they seen such a murderous, menacing, dark look on Luffy's face. A dark shadow had covered his eyes as his pupils constricted and showed pure anger and hatred towards them. It was if he was slowly stabbing them with his eyes.

Their bodies began to shiver as he snapped his jaw on the lollipop, cracking it into pieces in his mouth and letting the stick drop towards the ground. He stood up slowly and kept his angry eyes on them, his fists clenching on the chair tightly until his knuckles were white. The boys were in complete distress as a cold sweat ran down each of them and they slowly began to back away with their hands up in defense.

Luffy slowly walked towards the leader, his eyes freezing his muscles, and making it hard for him to keep back up. His back hit the wall and panic set in, making him shiver uncontrollably as the boy neared him with murderous intent. Luffy slammed his fist against the wall next to the boys head, his lips pursed together tightly.

"Don't you dare take her from me." He threatened, making sure that the whole group heard him while they huddled together slightly away.

"Fine! Fine! We won't take your girlfriend away!" He desperately said, holding his hands between him and Luffy so he had some sort of a chance. "It was just a joke! A joke!"

Luffy blinked his eyes, making all the shadows disappear and the distressing aura completely vanish as if it was never there to begin with. "Girlfriend? Who?"

Everyone in the class fell over as they couldn't believe what he had just said. "SHIRAHOSHI!" The whole class yelled together, angry at his sudden stupidity.

"Eh? Shira isn't my girlfriend!" He chuckled, holding up his hand in laughter before patting his hat on his head in a relaxed manner.

"Eh?! Then why did you get so angry that I'd take her?" The leader asked, his eyes wide in sudden confusion on his part as to why Luffy would seem so murderous towards him.

"Because…!" Luffy began, but then stopped as he himself couldn't think of why he felt so angry about the thought of them taking Shirahoshi from them. "MMMMMMMMM" He stuck his fingers on his forehead, thinking so hard his face turned red. He desperately wanted to know the answer to that question, but couldn't seem to think of it.

"I think you need to think about that." The leader said, sighing and patting Luffy's shoulder. He felt guilty for pushing Luffy so far, when the poor boy himself didn't even know how he felt. It was so plainly obvious to others how the two felt for one another, but somehow neither knew.

"Tadaima!" Shirahoshi shouted as she came through the door with Luffy, taking off their shoes so they can head inside.

"Welcome back!" Her brothers said as they peaked around the corner.

"Oh! Luffy you came today!" The eldest said with a welcoming smile. "Dinner's almost ready so go ahead and sit down!"

Luffy was like part of the family for them and nothing felt weird when he suddenly appeared to eat with them. If anything he kind of molded in when he came and just went with the flow of things. The only difference was that he had a bad habit of not chewing before eating his food and it always left everyone speechless with how such a scrawny kid could eat so much.

"You going upstairs?"

"Hai!" Shirahoshi said, waving a thanks to her brothers as they cleaned up the table.

Luffy patted his belly in relief as he felt full of delicious food, a smile beaming on his face. Slowly they made their way up to her room, a place both of them just relaxed and chatted. They never had a time where there wasn't something to talk about. Most of the time it was about Luffy's "adventures" he liked to go on with his other friends and his brothers. Yet still Shirahoshi loved listening and would devote her whole attention to his stories as if she were going through them with him.

"Shirahoshi?" Luffy asked, suddenly in front of her with an eyebrow quirked in confusion as to where her mind was right then.

Shirahoshi wasn't expected him to be so close to her face. She let out a small yell and jerked backwards, throwing herself off balance and falling off the bed they were sitting on. She braced for impact with the floor that she knew was coming for her. A strong arm reached out and wrapped around her waist, pulling her away from the floor and back up to the bed safely.

"You okay?"

Shirahoshi opened her eyes and smiled at Luffy, thankful that he caught her in time before she hit the floor harshly. She had automatically grabbed onto his shirt when he hung onto her. She looked up into his face and her face exploded into red as she realized their noses were touching they were so close. She was pressed against him completely with him slightly hovering over her from having to move towards her so quickly. His breath wafted over her smoothly and she could feel her skin burn where ever his skin touched hers. It made her incredibly conscious of their time together and she realized how risky it was to always have Luffy come into her room with her alone.

"T-thanks, L-Luffy." She said, turning her head from him and pushing slightly on his chest so he'd get the hint to let her go now. She needed to get away from him before she completely exploded in embarrassment.

Luffy looked down at Shirahoshi as her face got darker and darker, and he could feel her heart beat through her chest. He could feel his body get tingling and butterflies appeared in his stomach as he watched her embarrassment unfold in front of him. He remembered what the boys had said earlier in the class, making him think about why he truly got mad. That was it…..he didn't want any other guy to see Shirahoshi like this….

Luffy pulled Shirahoshi closer by her waist, making her turn her head so she could ask what he was doing. Before she knew it his lips were pushing against hers, and his body leaned against her own. Her eyes went wide as she looked at Luffy staring directly at her with eyes that seemed to be looking deep within her. She felt herself flush even more, and suddenly they were turning and leaning back. He suckled on her bottom lip and they went into a deep kiss.

Her hands ran through his soft hair, knocking off his hat and giving her more room to play around. Soon her lungs begged for air, needing a break from the intense kiss. She pulled back and breathed in deeply, linking her hands behind his neck and letting the fog clear from her mind.

"Luffy…what….?" She stopped and quickly put her hands to her face, feeling embarrassed by the sudden intense moment between them.

She couldn't believe she just made out with Luffy! Did he realize how she felt? Does he feel the same for her? Or maybe someone told him and he was testing it out! What if he was just playing with her? Question after question ran through her head as she tried to hide her red face from him as he loomed over her. She could feel his hand grab her wrist and pull it away, making her look up at him and his big, goofy grin that was stretched across his face.

"Ne! Shira!" Luffy said, making her clamp her eyes shut. She didn't want to hear what he was going to say! "Be my girlfriend?"

Scratch that. She SO wanted to hear what he had to say! She whipped her eyes open and looked at him smiling at her with such an innocent look. Did he really just as her that? Is she hearing things now? What if this whole thing was a hallucination? Was it her brother's cooking that gave her this delusion?...Did she really want to leave this delusion?

"Shira!" Luffy chuckled, tilting his head and pulling her wrists slightly that were clamped tightly in front of her.

"What?" She asked, blinking in confusion at him.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked, sitting up and bringing her up with him so they were facing each other in a more comfortable manner.

Her jaw dropped and tears brimmed in her eyes. "Luffy!~" She cried out, feeling happier than she has ever felt in a very long time.

"Oi! What's wrong? Is that a no?" Luffy fumbled, his arms waving erratically in the air for something to try and make her stop crying.

"What's going on?!" Her brothers yelled as they slammed the door open and took in the situation with Shirahoshi crying and Luffy sitting on the bed in utter confusion.

"Big brother!" Shirahoshi cried. She sniffled a bit and wiped at her face, trying to calm herself down. "Luffy asked me to be his girlfriend!"

"I'm sorry!" Luffy said, clapping his hands together and bowing his head.

The brothers laughed and patted his head. "She's crying in happiness this time." They chuckled, making him look closer to see the smile beneath all of the tears.

Luffy pouted his lips and wiped at her face for her, trying to help her calm down and clean herself up. "Moh, you really had me worried there."

"Wow! Look at that beauty!"

The freshman gathered around as they watched Shirahoshi walk by with an even more womanly body. Still she was the center of attention for her looks and personality….actually even more so now. With every new year of freshman coming in she became more and more popular. Now she was a senior who had all grades below and above her looking at her in awe.

"Give it up freshman!" One of the upperclassman yelled down to them.

"Why?!"

"Yeah! We have a chance too!"

"No way!" The upperclassman called back. "See that guy?"

The freshman looked back at Shirahoshi who suddenly had a gigantic smile on her face and her hand waved over her head. She ran over to a tall man with shaggy black hair and a scar under his eyes. He was tall and lean, but packed full of muscle that you could see through his open shirt. They gulped, knowing what was going to be said before it even came out.

"That's her boyfriend of almost four years now." The upperclassman continued. "You have no luck with her!"

All the freshman deflated as they let out big sighs, unbelieving that they were already crushed by their first love. They all knew they wouldn't have a choice.

"So now you're helping him?" One of the other upperclassman asked with a chuckle.

"I've seen what he'd do if you'd try to take her from him." The first upperclassman answered. "I don't want any freshman being killed this year." He chuckled. "I know by personal experience nothing could rip those two apart."
