Nami shot up in behind with a cold sweat running down her back. That same nightmare. She was having it every night this week and it was really starting to get to her. Not only was she losing sleep because of it. She was feeling paranoid about it constantly. Aarlong wouldn't come after her. There was no way….. Yet still no matter how many times she told herself this, she was still scared that her nightmare would become reality. They were on the big sea after all, and mermen were able to swim anywhere. What was there to stop him?

She groaned and leaned back on her pillow, putting her arm over her eyes. She was becoming sleep deprived and her mind wasn't working like her nakama needed it to. She was going to end up making a mistake soon that she won't be able to fix if she doesn't get some nice needed sleep. She moved her arm and stared at the ceiling, knowing it would be impossible to go back to sleep now.

She sighed and sat up, slipping off the bed and changing into her day clothes. Might as well get the day started. She yawned as she walked out of her room and was greeted by the barely rising sun.

"You're up early." Sanji commented as she walked into the kitchen for some coffee.

"Yeah, I felt like something might happen today." She said with a pasted on smile, hoping he wouldn't notice her paranoia.

"Food!" Luffy launched through the door and latched onto Nami, nearly knocking her forward and spilling her coffee all over herself. Thankfully the counter was in front of her and gave her something to brace on.

"Luffy!" She groaned, looking over her shoulder at him as he laughed innocently and looked at her with a wide smile.

His smile dropped as he circled around her, looking her up and down. Him acting like that was making her nervous, and the paranoia grew. He stood in front of her finally and raised his hand. Slowly he put his hands on her cheeks and placed his forehead on hers. Sanji nearly dropped the pot of boiling water he was carrying at the sight of Luffy being so close to Nami. Luffy furrowed his brows and leaned back before pulling on her cheeks slightly so her eyes widened.

"Luffy! Leave Nami-san alone!" Sanji threatened as he set the pot down and held up the wooden spoon.

"You not feeling well?" Luffy asked Nami, completely ignoring his cook who was about to blow a gasket. "You don't look so good." He continued as he saw Nami's brows furrow.

"You telling me I look horrible?" Nami asked, not wanting to bring up this subject with Luffy of all people. He wouldn't be able to take it seriously and could possibly make it worse.

"Nope! You're always beautiful!" He said with a smile as he pushed her cheeks tighter. He furrowed his brows again and looked at her seriously. "I don't know, you just don't look like the normal Nami."

Sanji hit Luffy over the head, making him let go of the navigator and to turn on Sanji with a glare. Nami stood there in shock for a moment, not realizing how keen Luffy actually was to the small details in her. I guess she always knew slightly that he understood, she just didn't want to believe it.

It took all of Nami's might not to pass out during the day. Between navigating away from storms to getting away from the Marine's and pirates, to keeping the crew in check, she felt like she'd pass out any time. She was already low on energy from not getting sleep, and now her energy was being sucked out more by the daily duties…but she didn't want to go to sleep. If going to sleep meant she had to have that nightmare again, she'd rather stay up and be exhausted. She would still catch herself looking out to the sea, waiting to see some kind of ripple or clue that Aarlong was coming.

"Nami-san?" Robin asked as she walked up the stairs to the upper deck and spotted Nami leaning against a wall with her hand to her head. "Are you okay?"

Nami glanced up at Robin and gave a smile She stood up completely and placed her hands behind her back so she didn't go for her head again. "I'm fine. Just a mild headache."

"Well, we shouldn't be running into anymore storms, correct?" Robin asked with a smile. "And it's already getting late. Why don't you go lie down. You've done so much today you're probably just tired."

Nami forced herself not to grimace at the thought of sleep and smiled even wider. "Right," She said with a nod. "I'll go do that then."

She didn't want to argue against it and have Robin questioning her on why she didn't want to sleep. That'll just cause unneeded worry and another person to prod into her life and past. She was grateful for the friends she had, but she really didn't want all of them poking into her life all the time, or knowing about all of her.

She slowly shut her door and walked over to her closet, changing her clothes to a tanktop and some shorts. She could at least try to doze for a little bit and get some of the exhaustion away. She looked at herself in the mirror and pulled down on the bottom of her eyes, looking at the dark circles that were growing by the hour. She let out another sigh, hating how she looked.

"NAMI!"

Luffy shot through the door. Nami jumped and turned to look at the boy who rolled across the floor and landed with his feet in the air over his head against a wall. Nami blinked in shock as Luffy smiled at her innocently and gave a short laugh.

"Luffy! What are you doing?" Nami asked, crossing her arms over her chest and looking at him with a raised eyebrow.

"I heard you went to bed!" He said, righting himself back up before dropping his smile and standing up. He dusted himself off and walked over to her bed, sitting down and kicking his shoes off before turning on sitting with his legs crossed. "Still not feeling good?"

Nami sighed and walked over to him, grabbing his arm and pulling. "I'm fine. Get off my bed." She said, not really wanting to fight right now. But Luffy wasn't budging as he kept sitting on the bed.

He looked over Nami's face, seeing the dark circles under her eyes and the exhaustion all over her face. Even her pulling on his arm was weak and feeble, yet he could tell she was really trying to move him from her bed. This wasn't the normal Nami. He'd only see her like this once when she got real sick, but her cheeks weren't red and the only sign now was fatigue. She had to be stressed about something.

Luffy grabbed Nami's arm that was tugging on him, making her stop and look at him in question. Just as she opened her mouth he pulled her towards him. He moved so fast she wasn't really sure what he had done until she realized they were laying in the bed with her facing his chest.

"Luffy! What are you doing?" She asked, lifting herself up slightly.

Luffy's arm came from the back of her head as he pushed her head down onto his arm. His other arm grabbed the covers on her bed and laid it over them, and then stretched to turn off her light. Before she could get up again his arm came around her waist and he curled around her, laying his leg over hers.

"Lu-" Nami was cut off.

"It's okay. I'll be here to watch over." He said, putting his chin on her head. "Just get some sleep and relax."

Nami couldn't believe what was going on. Usually he was so immature and hyperactive, but now he was acting mature and inquisitive about her. How did he know she was worried about something. Him of all people! Everyone else had no clue, but somehow he knew there was something wrong. Her head was pressed against his chest with her hands folded between them. Since when had he gotten so big? It was as if a man was in front of her and not the childish captain she remembered first meeting long ago. Even the smell on him was a manly scent, and his arms around her made her feel like she in a place that no one could reach her. Why did she feel so safe?

Before she could completely process her thoughts, her eyes fluttered shut and she drifted off to sleep, her mind worry free and exhaustion finally took over. Luffy could feel Nami's breath on his neck as she snuggled in. At least she was asleep. He didn't like seeing Nami so weak. If this was the only way to make her feel better, he'd do it.

Faint sounds of talking came through the room and sunlight beamed through the small port hole, giving some light to see. Nami felt her eyes flutter open and a yawn escape her mouth. She spotted a very bright red right in front of her eyes, making her jump slightly before remembering the night before.

Luffy was still asleep as he slept on his own hand and he still had his legs around hers and his arm on her waist. He seemed to be ready to jump up any moment at a sign of a fight. She let out a small giggle and turned slightly, taking her legs from his and letting his arm dangle on her back as she laid on her stomach.

She reached up and grabbed his strawhat, putting it on her head and looking at Luffy with a bright smile. She felt back to normal already…..and even better, no nightmares. If anything all she had were nice dreams. It had been so long since she'd had a nice dream she forgot what they were like. Slowly she lifted her hand and traced the scar under his eyes with her nail, looking over his face. He still looked childish, but somehow she saw him in a more mature kind of way and noticed the simple changes she looked over while being with him on his ship.

"Thanks Luffy," She whispered, leaning up and kissing his cheek.

Nami pulled back with a smile, glad he was asleep so he didn't know what she said or did…..well at least she hoped. By the time she could see his face his eyes were open and he was staring at her with a smile from ear to ear.

"You're welcome," He said innocently.

Nami let out a small squeal as she pulled back further and put her hands to her face. Her cheeks got red and she peeked through her fingers to see him cocking his head in confusion. When she pulled her hands away he smiled again and sat up, letting her go completely.

"Feel better?" He asked, crossing his legs and looking her up and down.

Nami smiled and sat up herself. "mm." She said, recovering from her embarrassment.

"Good! Let's go eat!" He said, before jumping up and running from her room.

"Luffy! What are you doing in there?" Sanji shouted, spotting him running out in a hurry. "Don't bother Nami-san while she's sleeping! If she wants to sleep in so late then let her!"

Nami glanced at the clock nearby, seeing that it was about ten minutes till noon. She had never slept in so late before! And she had gone to bed early…..Wait, she went to bed before dinner, and it was almost lunch now…No way! Luffy had skipped meals just to make sure he was with her so she could sleep? Nami's face exploded into a puff of red. She felt embarrassed by how much Luffy cared about her.

They day had gone by much smoother for Nami as she caught up and got all her work done, along with mapping some new places. She felt like she had waves of energy stored up within her now. Night time began to fall again and she could feel her sleep cycle come back to her.

"Night," Chopper yawned as he gave a small wave.

Everyone went off to their own rooms, waiting to go back to sleep. Luffy stayed in the dining room with Nami and looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"I'll be fine," She said with a smile, waving him off. She believed he completely rid her of her nightmares. So there was no need to worry anymore about sleeping.

Was she wrong….

The nightmares were back and she felt like her heart would explode with fear. She shot up in bed and looked around, looking for Aarlong who would be standing there with his sinister smile. But there was no one there.

"Nami?"

Nami snapped out of her zoning and looked around seeing that half the day was gone already and she had been working out of habit. Luffy squatted in front of her, looking at her with worry once more.

"You okay?" He asked.

Nami sighed, maybe the problem was that she had to tell someone about her nightmares. She guessed in her mind, that someone had to be Luffy. Obviously he was the one she trusted most on the ship and he had saved her from the fishman once before.

"Luffy, will you listen to me for a bit?" She asked, looking at him with pleading eyes.

Slowly she told him about her growing paranoia and anxiety about the possibility of Aarlong coming back for her. How it got so bad she was having nightmares every night about it happening. She explained to him that she kept it in because she knew it couldn't possibly be true, and she thought they would laugh at her. She also explained to him that the only night so far that she hasn't had those nightmares was the night he slept with her.

"So…" Luffy began, taking it all in and thinking about it. "You want me to sleep with you?"

Nami's face exploded in embarrassment as her mind caught the innuendo he had no meaning to use. Of course Luffy wouldn't be meaning it in that kind of way, he was completely oblivious to that sort of thing. "No!" She said quickly, shaking her head. "I figured if I was fine with just having you there, then telling you would definitely help."

And it was true. She felt so much lighter now that she verbally confessed her fear and knew Luffy was listening through the whole thing.

Luffy smiled at her like always, making her smile back. "Don't worry! Even if Aarlong had the guts to try and take you back, I wouldn't let him! You're my navigator and nakama! I'd rather die than let someone take you!"

Nami felt her heart flutter as she watched him flash a peace sign towards her and a victorious and territorial spark flashed through his eyes.

"I'll kick his ass!" Luffy said, placing his hand on his bicep as he flexed his arm, proving his point on his fighting ability and strength, which she already knew was inhuman.

She giggled as he chuckled at her. She leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "Thank you." She said, watching as his smile grew.

"Is this a new kind of treasure?" He teased, before hearing Sanji call out for him and waving to her.

She fell asleep that night easily, and started to have dreams. It put a smile on her face at the pleasantness of it all, and finally getting back to her normal self….but that was short lived as the nightmares flashed back and made her wake up.

"Why?" She asked herself, trying to figure out why it hadn't worked.

Three nights had gone by with nothing helping. She tried everything from sleeping in the day, to drinking tea at night, or even sleeping in short spurts, but every time she got those vile nightmares that made her feel so scared and so worried about everything.

Even tonight she laid in bed in the middle of the night staring wide eyed at the ceiling after being awoken from one of the nightmares again. She could feel the water burning in the corner's of her eyes. She hated how scared she was feeling, and she was irritated because she couldn't get any sleep. It was like she was completely converging in on herself in all these mixed emotions that her mind just couldn't handle it.

There was only one way she knew to stop those nightmares.

Her feet trailed along the cold wooden floors as she made her way towards the room with hammocks for the guys. She opened the door slowly and looked around, trying to spot Luffy out of them. She could see his hand draped over the side as his light snore echoed in the room. Slowly she padded over to his hammock and grabbed the edge that was nearly over her head.

"Luffy," She whispered, tilting his hammock slightly to look at him. She nudged him again. "Luffy,"

The captain grumbled and cracked his eyes open, spotted the orange hair of the girl standing there. "Nami?" He grumbled, rubbing his eyes.

"Luffy, can I sleep with you?" She asked, feeling like a little kid asking to sleep with a parent. But she didn't care, she was willing to cast aside her pride and embarrassment if her nightmares disappeared.

Luffy grumbled again, but reached over and wrapped his arms around her. He lifted her up and put her in his hammock. It wasn't big enough to lay side by side, so he just laid her on top of him. The blanket that was over her shoulders draped lazily around the both of them.

Nami felt his bare chest press against her own skin, but though she felt her cheeks burn in embarrassment, he was just as warm, being a personal heater everywhere. She was comfortable, just resting her cheek there on his chest. She put her arms on either side of her, resting her hands on either side of her head.

Her fingers trailed on his chest as she instantly felt her heart calm down and her fear go away. It was like a weight had been taking it off again. She felt like she was floating like a feather, and she didn't want to let go of the weight she was using to hold her in place.

Her eyes fluttered shut slowly and his arm laid on her waist, giving her the feeling of protection once more. Her dreams that night made her feel like she was normal again, just like before. Faintly, before she was completely enveloped by darkness, she could hear Luffy's heartbeat was erratic and she could feel the slight change in temperature in his heat as it became even more intense.

'Luffy?' She thought to herself, wondering if he was feeling just the same as herself.

"UWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Nami shot up in a panic as the loud noise reverberated throughout the room. She looked around quickly, waiting to see who was attacking or what was going on. Her eyes cleared themselves up from sleep only to hear another loud shout.

"MY NAMI-SWAN!"

Nami looked over at Sanji who looked as if someone had just shot him. Zoro grumbled an insult towards him and grabbed the back of his shirt, dragging him out of the room. "Sanji? What is he doing in my room?" Nami looked around more and noticed that it wasn't her room she was in but the guys' room. Then she remembered. She looked down and saw she was straddling Luffy who was just barely waking up himself. "Ah, so that's why he was freaking out."

Luffy sat up slightly and looked at Nami, putting a smile on his face. "Better?" He yawned, patting her head and pushing her hair down to fix it.

She smiled, not caring who saw them. She nodded her head thankfully. "Much. Thanks."

"Did you figure out what helps?" He asked, keeping himself up on his elbows.

"Mm!" She was more than happy. Then she remembered what she found out about Luffy with his heartbeat and heat, and it made her embarrassed. Stupid! Why was she jumping to conclusions? She could feel her face burn red with heat.

"Nami," Luffy said, snatching Nami out of her remembrance and embarrassment.

Nami looked at him and saw the goofy smile on his face. She heard the laugh escape his mouth and raised an eyebrow at him. He lifted his hand and pointed towards his cheek, turning his head slightly so she could see where he was tapping. Nami instantly knew what he wanted, and couldn't stop herself from smiling from ear to ear.

She leaned forward to place a kiss on his cheek, but didn't expect him to turn his head in the last moment. Her lips planted on top of his and shocked her. She tried to pull back but he put a hand on the back of her head, keeping her lips against his. They're lips memorized one another's as the kiss dragged on.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! NAMI-SWAN!"

They pulled apart from one another and looked towards the doorway which had Sanji kneeling in it in the dramatic way with his fists in the air. Once more Zoro grabbed the back of his collar and dragged him out.

"I like this new treasure." He teased, laughing with his smile again.

"Shut up," Nami laughed, glad to have confirmed his feelings. She pushed his hat down on his head and smiled, watching as he tucked her hair behind her ear. "Ready to eat?"

"Yeah!" He shouted, throwing his fists into the air. He wrapped his arms around her and jumped from the hammock, carrying her out of the room and towards the kitchen.
