Alright I THINK I'm finally getting used to my new computer! There are still a couple times I don't know what the heck happened or what it did something, but I'll deal with that another time! Haha XD. I hope everyone is doing well! I had to really work my brain on this one since this couple is literally like nowhere to even try to catch an idea. But! I will make it work somehow! Fear not!
This here story was requested by dear sweet Nakko who wanted a NamiXKoala story. I made it more like a one-shot because there was no detail to what Nakko wanted, but I found one picture that kind of made an idea go off in my head and I just had to roll with it. Hope you like it Nakko! Thanks for requesting!
The next request is for Just Visiting! Haha love your name! He/She has requested a ZoroXRobin story! I will get to it right after I post this! I keep telling myself to get these out sooner, but of course I forget and then remember as I'm going to bed sometimes. Love your idea for this story and I'm sure everyone will love it as well!
I am not taking requests anymore to those who are just now tuning in! But feel free to read my stories and there is still a chance I come back after I finish my other long stories!
"Robin!" Koala shouted as she hugged her friend closely. "I convinced Sabo to let us stay a little bit longer!"
The battle of Dressrosa was over, and now everyone was celebrating in joy at the victory. Robin had introduced her friends that she had met during the two years they were all seperated; and they so happened to be part of the Revolutionary army that Luffy's father takes head over, and the leader of this group just happened to be Luffy's brother.
Nami sighed as she shook her head as she thought of all the dangerous people Luffy was related to. It's no wonder Luffy was the way he was. "Who else is he related to out there?"
"I wonder the same thing." Koala said, looking at Nami with a chuckle. "Imagine our surprise when Sabo suddenly told us that he was the brother of not only Fire Fist Ace, but Strawhat Luffy! And then we found out Marine Garp and our Leader Dragon were the father and grandfather of Luffy. I'm starting to fear their relationships and bloodline."
Nami laughed with Koala as they watched the two brothers goof off with one another. "I already know where this is leading to."
Both girls watched as Luffy started grabbing food and handing some to Sabo as they chowed down and put much more in their stomach than most thought possible. Even the girls enjoyed themselves though as Nami, Koala, and Robin all sat together and ate much smaller portions than the boys while drinking their sake.
"Hey! Us girls are going to the bath, want to join?" Rebecca asked, tugging on Violet's hand with a beaming smile on her face. A few other women were behind them, waving them to join them and come relax from all the hyperactive men that were becoming drunk and excited.
"Sure! A bath sounds great!" Nami said, standing up and waving the other two with her.
"Relaxing in hot water sounds heavenly right now." Koala said with a relieved sigh.
The bath was more of a hot spring inside of a building than a bath. It was gigantic and had a small water feature that circulated the water so it didn't get cold. The moment Nami dipped her toe in she could feel her muscles already relaxing, and the warmth that overcame her made her want to instantly sleep.
"Oh~ This feels great." Nami sighed, leaning back against the wall of the bath. She tilted her head back and felt back to make sure that her hair was still put up into a messy bun.
"Now this is what I'm talking about." Koala said as she herself dipped her leg in and walked into the water.
Nami glanced up and saw the large mark on her back that took over most of it. But as Nami looked closer at it she could see another mark beneath it, as if it were trying to be covered up. She put her hand up to her shoulder, knowing it was probably something that happened to her in the past that she wanted to disappear. It was as if Koala could feel someone looking at her back because she turned around suddenly and looked Nami in the eyes, seeing her gaze looking straight at her back.
She gave an embarrassed sort of smile as she turned around and looked at Nami. "It was a mark to me by some friends."
"I understand." Nami simply said, brushing off her worried look of pushing questions on what it was about. Koala seemed surprised by her answer and ended up walking over to Nami on the side of the bath and sitting down next to her.
"Sounds like you really do." Koala said, raising an eyebrow at her.
"You make friends with people you don't expect to save you." Nami told her, rubbing her hand over her shoulder and tattoo, making Koala look at her tattoo more closely.
Understanding came over Koala as she spotted the faint scar beneath her tattoo, knowing that she was trying to hide something just like herself. "When I was younger I was a slave." Koala admitted, feeling a pressure lift off of her chest.
"I was basically one." Nami told her. "I was forced to work for a pirate crew."
Koala chuckled at the irony of that. "And yet you're part of a pirate crew?" Nami laughed along with her. "I'm guessing they changed your view on pirates. Tiger and his crew were the same for me. They showed me not everyone is as bad as those royals."
Nami and Koala seemed to have connected on a personal level, and soon they didn't even realize that all the other women had left the bath, leaving the two of them talking as they sat in the hot water. But it wasn't just their scars or pasts that connected them, it was how they acted, and how they perceived people. How they wanted to prove their strengths to others.
"Y'know, everyone has some type of scar, I mean half our crew has visible scars for other's to see, but it just isn't the same if you haven't had the same experience to get that scar. We all have our different reasons for them." Nami said, trailing off as she started to feel light headed from the heat.
"I feel you there." Koala sighed as well. "Sabo has a scar himself, but he didn't understand being a slave. After all he came from a royal family himself; a family that worshiped those dragons."
"Sometimes the best thing to do is to forget and forgive." Nami said, finally standing up from the bath and shakily getting out, realizing her legs were like jelly.
"Yeah, I guess that is the best." Koala agreed, trying to do the same thing.
Nami held out her hand for Koala to take a hold of, but both women were barely standing on their own as their wrinkly skin and jelly muscles made it very hard to even get up. Nami slid on the water on the floor, grabbing onto Koala for more support and hoping they didn't crash face first, but with Koala being just as weak, neither of them could keep up the comedy looking routine of sliding forward and backward, trying to keep their balance.
"Woah!" Nami shouted, leaning forward. But she leaned to much onto Koala, causing the brunette girl to lean backwards and her feet gave out from underneath her. The both of them crashed to the floor in a heap, both of them bracing for a hard impact.
"Ow!" Koala hissed, opening her eyes and gasping.
Nami had come face to face with the brunette, her hair hanging off of one side of her and next to Koala, as if it were a curtain blocking anyone from seeing their faces from the entrance. Their hearts beat ninety to nothing, and each of them could feel the thumping from their chests being pushed together. Yet neither moved from the position. It was as if a magnet was holding them together as they lay still, waiting for the other to make a move.
Koala looked over Nami's flushed face that nearly matched her bright hair, and the towel that was nearly coming off of her from the fall. Her long slender legs were still covered in water and Koala felt like fire was spreading over her skin where they touched, and it was most definitely not from the bath. Nami had felt this feeling before, but not in this magnitude. It was when she first met Luffy and for once saw him as a Man when he saved her from Aarlong, and not just a pirate she hated. But this was much more than that. Then it was a small attraction; this time she felt like her heart would explode at any moment if it beat any faster, and her fingers twitched next to Koala's head at the excitement of feeling her soft skin in her hand. Why was she so attracted to this girl?
"Nami," Koala whispered finally, but her voice was so faint, she wasn't even sure she heard herself.
Nami stopped and realized in her thinking she had started to lean forward and her hand had woven itself into Koala's hair and on her cheek, leaving the girl in the same spot as she made her way forward. When Koala spoke her name, it was like a slap from reality and she jolted away from the brunette, her cheeks flushing even brighter in her embarrassment over the loss of control.
"Sorry!" She quickly apologized, pushing up from the ground and off of Koala. She had never been attracted to a female before, and it scared her even more that it was to someone she only got to know today. It was almost like they connected on a soul level and seemed to be more than just acquantices.
"Ah, wait!" Koala shouted as she quickly got up herself and held out her hand to Nami, hoping to stop her and explain why she called out to her. But Nami had hurried into the small locker room and quickly changed into her robe.
"I'm sorry! I promise that won't happen again!" Nami shouted, leaving her back towards Koala.
If she hadn't spotted Nami's red ears, she would have thought the orange haired woman was mad at her. She watched Nami quickly speed walk out of the locker room and out into another room where she could change. Koala was left standing there in shock at the events that happened so quickly it was now a blur inside her head; but the one thing that stuck with her was Nami leaning down towards her with her eyes staring right into hers. It was like she could see exactly into Nami's soul and heart. She had never felt so close to someone.
She put her fingers to her lips, wondering what Nami's lips would have felt like against hers. "But, I wanted you to do it again," She whispered to herself, the feeling of regret and disappointment creeping into her stomach and making it churn. She couldn't just let Nami get away from her, no matter what her mind was telling her! She was no longer the child slave who took the easy way out and did what was best for others! She needed to go for what she wanted for once! And right now, she wanted Nami.
"Hey! Robin!" Koala called out, catching the dark haired friend of hers before she walked off.
Robin turned around and spotted Koala and a gentle smile appeared on her face, showing the affection she had for the younger girl. "What is it?" She asked, completely focusing her attention on Koala as if she were a sister seeking advice.
"Where is Nami?" Koala asked, a shy smile coming onto her face with her cheeks tingeing pink.
"Nami?" Robin asked, a smile on her face. "Seems you've gotten awful close to our navigator huh?" She saw Koala nearly explode in embarrassment and chuckled, knowing she couldn't tease her too much. She put a finger to her chin and thought of the last time she saw Nami. "I think she's over by our ship, planning out everything before we go and making sure they have everything."
"You guys are leaving?" Koala asked, her heart sinking instantly at the thought of never seeing Nami or Robin again for a long time. It was bad enough she had to say bye to Robin when she needed to return to them after two years, but now her luck got even worse. She had to say good bye to Nami; the one person she was finally feeling attracted to.
"Afraid so," Robin said, her smile turning sad and guilty. She patted Koala's head over her hat, knowing the young girl had a hard time showing her feelings. "I suggest whatever it is you need to confess to *cough cough* I mean tell Nami, you might want to do it quickly." She had to quickly change her words, but Koala knew that Robin had this keen intuition about things and was normally right on her suspicions.
"Right!" Koala shouted, nodding her head in determination before giving Robin a big hug of thanks and taking off towards the Thousand Sunny that had a few members prepping for their next journey and recovering from Dressrosa.
Nami was at the center of the ship, pointing towards crew members and telling them what they needed to do, or go get. She was looking around the ship and had her hair up in a pony tail as her hair tried to get into her face. Her eyes were focused and she was slowly marking things off on a piece of paper that was in her hand.
Koala gripped her fists and took a deep breath in, resolving herself to climb up the ship towards where Nami was. She had to avoid a few crew members as they hustled around quickly, nearly being bulldozed a few times. She finally got within reach to Nami and slowly she pushed her hand out, tapping on the bright haired navigator's shoulder.
Nami turned around and her face instantly went red and her eyes went wide as she spotted Koala standing there. Obviously she didn't expect the brunette to come and find her after what had happened in the bath yesterday. Koala opened her mouth to say something, but it was as if that resolve she had built up before had just ran away when she saw Nami. She could feel the butterflies in her stomach fluttering to get out, and she felt like she was going to overheat and explode any minute now.
"I-!" Koala began to say, finally getting the words to come out.
Nami quickly held up a hand to her though, stopping her from saying anything. A look of guilt crossed her face and she plastered a smile onto her lips, trying to set Koala at ease. "I get it! I'm really sorry for what I did yesterday. I know it was something I probably shouldn't have done."
Koala shook her head furiously. Nami had gotten the completely wrong idea about her reaction yesterday! And now she believed that Koala was there to tell her off for it? She could feel her own guilt weighing on her chest and she opened her mouth again, ready to prove her wrong.
"Please! Don't…" Nami said, stopping her once again from saying anything. A shadow was passing over Nami's eyes that she had closed; as if she didn't want to see Koala anymore and cause the recollection of yesterday to come back into her mind. "We…probably won't see each other again. So…just forget that it ever happened! Ok?"
Koala could feel her fury rising up within her. Not only because she was misunderstanding, but because she wasn't giving her a chance to explain herself, and expected them to never meet. She didn't like that…She'd find any excuse to see Nami again even if it meant using Sabo. This time Nami opened her mouth, seeing Koala's angry expression on her face and the clenched hands. She wanted to try and explain more that she didn't need to worry about it.
Koala had had enough though. She pushed her hand to Nami's mouth, shutting her up before she could say anything more. Nami seemed to understand more by Koala's fierce eyes that were telling her in their own way to not say another word. Silence was between them for a few moments before Koala slowly took her hand off of Nami's mouth, watching the orange haired woman to make sure she wasn't going to sneak in some more words.
Koala took a deep breath in. "Don't go misunderstanding things!" She shouted, making Nami stare wide eyed and the rest of the crew to stop and look at the two who looked like they were about to go into a cat fight. "When did I ever say anything to give you that impression?" She asked, not really expecting an answer from Nami. "Yesterday I call you because I was nervous and wanted to know how you felt before you did anything!"
Nami took a breath in, her own stomach fluttering with butterflies now, and guilt crossed over her face, but a different kind than before. One that showed she was embarrassed for jumping to conclusions rather than thinking rationally.
Koala's cheeks grew red as she scratched at them in a nervous tick kind of way. "If anything, I was kind of hoping you would kiss me," The last part trailed off into a whisper, where only Nami could hear her, and the rest of the crew were straining their ears to try and listen into what she was saying. "I don't know if it's just because of our pasts and our hidden scars, but I feel closer to you than I have anyone else. I….. I didn't just want to be your friend."
Silence filled the air again, and the Strawhat crew were starting to wonder what had been said for both girls to go so quiet and get so red. They looked between the two women until Robin finally kept all of them back, not allowing them to get closer and interrupt the exchange.
"What?" Nami asked, more in shock than an actual question.
However Koala took it as her asking what she had just meant, and her cheeks flared like fire as she pulled her hat down over her eyes, trying to build up that resolve she had inside of her just earlier. She felt her heart nearly jumping out of her throat at her nervousness, but she needed to make Nami understand her feelings.
Finally she looked up, her eyes determined and dropped her hands off of her hat. She reached out towards Nami and cupped her face in her hands. Then she leaned forward quickly and pushed her lips against Nami's, shocking everyone at the sudden forward attitude from the brunette. The guys were more shocked at the two women kissing one another, and Sanji was near tears while at the same time in love with the gesture. The fire between their lips was intense, and though it was a simple, short kiss, it had felt like it was going to go on forever.
Slowly they drifted apart, their eyes both closed until they opened them and saw the other up close. A small smile drifted on Koala's face, proud of herself that she took that step and did it. Soon Nami was following suit, and they couldn't stop the bubbling joy that was trying to pour out of them in waves. Koala breathed in again, finding her voice within the smiles and laughs that were trying to take over her.
"I like you Nami." Koala finally confessed. "I want to see more of you in the coming years. Even if we can't be together all the time, I would like to still see you."
Nami smiled even more and nodded her head, not sure she'd be able to say anything without letting the giggles out of her own chest. A hug between the two women seemed to seal the deal between them agreeing on their long distance relationship, and the crew finally understood what the hushed conversation had to be about. They went on their own way, finishing up the commands that Nami had barked out to them earlier, leaving the navigator to her own things.
"Nice show there." Sabo said, making Koala look up and turn towards her superior. She still held Nami's hand within hers and a look of embarrassment came over her face. Sabo chuckled and patted her head, making her hat slide down her face and block her vision a bit. "Don't give me that look. It'll give me an excuse to check up on Luffy more anyway."
Koala understood perfectly what he was getting at and it nearly made her tackle him to the floor she was so happy. Instead she looked towards Nami again who was beaming just as much and pulled her into a tighter hug before placing an even harder kiss upon her soft lips, needing to share their joy with one another and how happy they were at the support on either side of their friends.
"Call me often. Or write me." Nami commanded Koala, her eyes strict and fierce.
Koala nodded her head like a bobble doll. "I'll miss you the moment I leave. Don't be going after others." She teased.
"Only you," Nami told her, giving her a kiss again before looking back at the paper and barking out orders. But still their hands were intertwined, and Sabo even started helping them get ready, telling Luffy about the deal that was going on between their two groups, which only made the captain beam in excitement.
