Chapter 16: Getting to know the Dreyars

A slender hand searched the night stand beside the bed for a buzzing alarm, Levy setting her phone to snooze another ten minutes. Gajeel stirred next to her, pulling Levy to his chest with a smile. They were pulled back into their dreams for a short period of time, Levy's alarm going off again.

"Okay, okay… I'm up…" She stretched with a content sigh, Gajeel watching her intently.

"Mornin'…"

"Morning."Gajeel placed his hand on Levy's cheek, closing in for a kiss, when the girl stopped him. "No, not yet, morning breath." She covered her mouth with a hand, but Gajeel pulled it away.

"Don't care." He placed a soft kiss on her lips, smiling.

"Mmm, morning again…" Levy combed through his long hair, then got up and headed for the bathroom for her morning ritual. A couple of minutes later, she headed for the kitchen. "The bathroom's free. You want something for breakfast?"

"What d'you have?" Gajeel's muffled voice could be heard from the bathroom.

"Milk, cereal, eggs, I can make toast and cheese, an omelet…" She prepared herself a couple of cheese sandwiches with a glass of milk, waiting for Gajeel to get out of the bathroom. He joined her moments later.

"Two eggs and toast, please." Levy got everything ready, watching the contents of the frying pan as Gajeel came behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her neck briefly, then burying his face in her blue hair. Levy giggled softly as his breath tickled her.

"Breakfast is ready." Gajeel didn't let go of her waist as Levy lead them to the table and placed his plate down. Another peck later and the tall man took a seat next to Levy, moaning softly.

"Wow, food tastes so much better when you have company." Gajeel complimented her cooking. "You got everything ready, right?"

"Yes, I talked to one of the therapists, she said I could leave at half past one."

"Perfect! I'll come get you. But first, I gotta drive you to work." Gajeel glanced to his watch, Levy mimicking him.

"Oh my gosh! When did it get so late?" Levy got up in a hurry and headed for her bedroom to get dressed. Five minutes later, she was checking the contents of her backpack, making sure her passport and ID were there.

"Relax, it's a 20 minute drive to work from here."Gajeel tried to calm her, amused by her sudden hurry. Levy was checking everything from a piece of paper, leaving it on the table for a moment before disappearing again. Gajeel took the paper and glanced over it, stifling a laughter after he read some of the items on the list. Levy came again in the kitchen, surprising her boyfriend reading her list with an amused expression on his face. She yanked it from his hand, blushing hotly.

"You have a list for your purse?" He almost escaped the laughter he was holding in.

"I don't wear a purse. I have my backpack. And yes, I… tend to forget stuff at home… If it's not important to me, I just… erase it from my mind." She lifted her chin defensively.

"I thought keys, phone, eraser, sketch book were kinda important." He laughed out loud as he counted some stuff from her 'list'. Levy puffed indignantly, 'hmph'ing before turning away from Gajeel and continuing the hunt for her things. Few minutes later, she was double checking her list as Gajeel grabbed her pack for the weekend, closing the door behind them.

They reached Levy's work place faster than Gajeel said, Levy sighing contently before kissing him briefly on the cheek as she got out of the car.

Soon enough, Lexa, her co-worker, let Levy know it was high time to leave. She already had half a dozen missed calls from Lucy and a message from Gajeel, saying he was outside, waiting for her. Levy nearly sprinted to the door after she hastily grabbed her stuff, not even bothering to change out of her work clothes. She quickly spotted the dark blue Mustang a few yards from her, hurrying to it.

"Hi! We can go now." Levy said as soon as she got on the back seat, Gajeel looking puzzled in the mirror. "I didn't get a chance to change, but I still have time till we get to the airport." Gajeel smiled briefly and drove off. A few minutes later, Levy crawled in the front seat all refreshed, buckling up.

"Blue and polka dots, huh?" The raven haired man grinned crookedly as Levy watched him with a puzzled expression. The next moment her cheeks flamed.

"You didn't!" Gajeel laughed out loud as Levy gapped at him. "You looked in the mirror! I can't believe you!" Gajeel laughed even harder, seeing her pouting face.

"What? I'm a straight man. I can't help it, it's in my nature to look at beautiful women." Levy hid her face with her hands, trying to suppress the scorching blush as she groaned loudly.

"You know, testing my limits is not gonna keep your balls intact. Just so you know why you're limping next time." Levy shoved a finger under his nose, Gajeel smirking.

"So you're gonna do this again, huh? I don't mind." He wiggled his eyebrows, activating another blush on Levy's cheeks. She turned away from him after she swatted his bicep in indignation. The rest of the drive was silent.

As soon as Gajeel parked the car and they headed for the sliding doors of the bustling airport, Lucy hurried to them as soon as she spotted the two coming their way. Natsu quickly handed Levy and Gajeel their tickets and they proceeded to the security area to get checked. Almost an hour later, they were settled in and waited for the plane to take off.

The flight went smoothly, Levy sketching while the other two couples either watched a movie or played games. All in all, the three hours flew by faster than anyone noticed, the flight attendants announcing all the passengers they were about to land. Another hour later and they were heading to the black Hummers Laxus sent their way. Levy whistled impressed, seeing the huge cars.

"Okay, just for the record, Hummer is no. 2 on my favorites list." Gajeel grinned.

"What's your top favorite?"

"You need not ask, cuz you own it." Levy winked at him, Gajeel puffing his chest proudly. A chauffeur held the doors opened for the three couples, the men letting their girls go first. As soonas she was inside, Levy looked around, admiring the smooth maroon leather that covered every inch of the massive jeep. She didn't have time to make sketches, for a few minutes later the car stopped and the chauffeur opened the doors in from of a very tall and bulky blonde man.

"Here he comes!" Laxus chanted with a wide grin, heading with rapid footsteps towards Gajeel. The raven haired man couldn't stop his own mouth from spreading as he got out of the car, seeing the large blonde make his way towards him and his girl. "Damn it, it's been too long!" The spiky haired man clapped Gajeel hard on the back, making him bulge his eyes briefly, but quickly composed himself, looking sheepishly at a curious Levy. Laxus then proceeded to bear hug a visibly surprised Gajeel.

"Hokay… that's enough…" Gajeel rasped, his eyes almost popping from their sockets. Laxus released him, Gajeel arranging his crumpled shirt and grabbing a hold of Levy's hand as Natsu and company got out of the jeep.

"So this is the future Mrs., eh?" Levy's cheeks took an embarrassing pink tint, opening her mouth to say something, but Gajeel beat her to it.

"Actually, she is." Levy gapped at him. "I've been waiting for a woman like her my entire life, man. You won't believe me when I tell ya…" Gajeel said with a sigh, Laxus smiling widely and nodding.

"Uh…" Levy tried, but Laxus continued.

"I feel you, brother. The one who'll be the kindness that you need." He glanced back to his soon-to-be wife, grinning.

"Uhm…"

"She's more than that. Kind and badass at the same time. She can fight!" Gajeel was so caught up in their conversation, he didn't even realize Levy was embarrassed.

"Really? You can tell me all about her over a beer. Come on, we have a lot of catching up to…"

"Excuse me! I'm right here!" Both Laxus and Gajeel turned to a flushed Levy. "You're talking about me like I'm not even present! We've been together for barely a week and I'm the future Mrs.?" She looked incredulous at an innocent looking Gajeel, who merely smiled serenely.

"Don't believe me, do ya?"

"Well… I'm… I mean…" Laxus' booming laughter brought their attention back to the blonde man.

"Sorry, that was rude of me. I should've introduced myself before trying to steal him and make you jealous."

"I'm not…!" Levy puffed her cheeks briefly before Laxus cut her.

"Laxus Dreyar, please to meet your acquaintance." He extended a large hand to her, grinning. Levy looked at it, then at his face, the sighed and shook hands.

"Levy Mc'Garden."

"Oooh, that's a strong hand shake!"

"I'm a…" Levy started just as Gajeel opened his mouth and said "She's a…"

"…massage therapist." They said at the same time, turning their heads in unison to stare at one another. Laxus burst out laughing again, pulling them from their reverie.

"Okay, okay, let's get you guys settled in." He snapped his fingers and a couple of busboys hurried to them, one grabbing Gajeel's luggage and another heading for Levy's. She pulled her bag in front of her, glaring at the man as the others handed their stuff to the busboys.

"I can manage." The busboy looked at Laxus questioningly.

"You can let him help you with that." Gajeel said soothingly.

"I'm fine."

"Feisty and stubborn. I'm starting to like her! Just don't tell my wife that, she might go all demon on her." He chuckled, leading the two.

"Levy, let the man take your bag, he's paid to do that." Gajeel took the hand that was holding the bag into his own and unclasped her fingers from it, giving it to the busboy with a nod. "No one wants to make you feel like you can't take care of yourself." Levy snapped her eyes to Gajeel after he guessed why she refused to let go of her pack. The raven haired man made a discreet sign to the bluenette, encouraging her to look around her. She relaxed a bit after she noticed Lucy and Wendy chatting happily with their partners, but still, she looked away in shame.

"I think it was a mistake me coming here…" She whispered, feeling overwhelmed. Gajeel glanced her way, then took her hand into his and kissed her knuckles.

"Hey. Look at me." He placed his palm on her cheek, trying to make Levy look him in the eye. "You, of all people, belong here, okay? Don't bring yourself down just because this is a first for you. I want you by my side when my best friend takes a huge step in his life. But, if you truly feel you can't blend in, then we'll go back home. Okay?"

"I couldn't take you away from he…"

"I want you to have a great time. Together with me and my crazy-ass family." Levy smiled as Gajeel tried to cheer her up. "Come on, I'm with you." Gajeel pulled her gently, Levy obliging after a moment of thought.

Laxus was ranting as he led his guests to the house. Suddenly, he stopped.

"I'll let you get settled in and then… Ah!" Laxus beamed happily, hurrying to a beautiful busty woman. "I missed you…" The blonde man said before he kissed her briefly.

"Come now, love, you saw me ten minutes ago. Seriously." The woman shook her head, but the smile in her eyes never faltered.

"I forgot my manners." Laxus turned to his guests, taking the woman by the hand. "This is Mirajane future-to-be Dreyar, my better half. Although she can get all demon on anyone who pisses her off."

"You always know how to make a girl blush." Levy looked at her in awe, noticing her white blond hair and crystal blue eyes. And her face… She was cut out straight from the beauty magazine. And, boy, did she feel out-sized… Well, out-boobed, to be exact. Lucy was well endowed, and she was fine with it, but meeting Mirajane blew whatever self-esteem she had.

"Gajeel, Natsu, it's been too long!" Mirajane went to hug the two men, then kissed their cheeks.

"Mira!" Wendy came running from behind the crowd after she stopped for a moment to chat with another white blonde haired girl. "You look… Wow!" Wendy waved to Mirajane's bust, activating a giggle.

"These babies are not the only thing growing." She winked and brushed her hands to her belly, the three siblings bursting into shouts of joy and congratulations. Levy felt like an outsider for a long moment as they started chatting, but didn't have time to get too depressed. Gajeel took her by the hand and brought her forward with a huge smile on his face.

"Mira, I'd like you to meet Levy." If she wasn't embarrassed by now, Gajeel's tone made her cheeks redden.

"Oh, the future Mrs.! Such a lovely face!" Mirajane kissed her cheeks and hugged Levy briefly, surprise clear on the bluenette's face. "So lovely to meet you, dear. We've been waiting for a long time for Gajeel to get over…" The raven haired man cleared his throat loudly, making the white blonde woman look at him. The look on his face told her to end the topic. And she did. "Sorry, I'll give you a tour, if you'll follow me."

The three couples followed Mirajane as she toured them through the huge mansion, leading them finally to their rooms.

"Dinner will be ready in an hour, you can get comfortable by then. If you'll excuse me…" Mira took her leave and let the six get settled in. Levy noticed a white cat being chased by Happy, Natsu's cat, Gajeel's black cat watching them lazingly. They entered their rooms and noticed all their clothes were already neatly placed in drawers, leaving them with nothing to do. So they refreshed themselves, spent a little time together, then enjoyed a long dinner.

They retreated themselves to their rooms a few moments before midnight, Gajeel snuggling Levy in his arms with a satisfied smile on his lips after they got into bed. After all, they needed their rest for the big day.
