Guys I'm back! Spring break is upon us! I am so happy ya'll! Plus a part time job!
Guys always be nice to your server! Their living is based on your tips, including sonic, applebee's whatever. Remember this! No need to be rude to them, you guys are nice people, so I believe in yall. Even though I've been working for about a month, I've worked other jobs as a waitress, college life is so hard.
Three days after the fourth exam, we finally made it to our destination. It was a hotel managed by the committee. They told us that until the end of the final round, that this place was ours. It was amazing, considering the size of the hotel. There was this huge space, just for fighting!
"The last trial will be in the form of duels of 1 vs 1." The president said. "The groups are the following." He grabbed the sheet, and pulled it off the board. It was a tournament. I looked at the board. I would be fighting against Hikaru, Leorio would fight the loser, probably Hikaru, Kurapika would fight against Hisoka, Gon was fighting that weirdo Hanzo, and Killua would have to fight whoever won, it looked like. "Good and now the rules in this last round is very simple. One victory and you pass the exam." My head started to think, okay so as long as I won against Hikaru, I would be a hunter, but she would have to go against Leorio, who would have to go against someone else. Looking around, it was painful, Leorio just seemed to be the weakest guy in the room, maybe I should forfeit, but he wouldn't be happy with me and neither would Hikaru. These people were demanding. "In this tournament winners, quit the game one by one. The principle of the pyramid is to designate the loser, not the winner. Do you understand?"
"So there will only be one eliminated?" Hanzo asked, his bald head shining.
"Exactly!"
"Why isn't the pyramid well balanced?" asked, 191. I think. Who knows his name. He was big and tough looking, however I knew I could take him down. Looking around, I noticed that I was probably the second or third strongest in this room. I knew I would pass for sure.
"That's a logical question. These groups were chosen using the results you had in previous rounds. Simply, the ones who got good marks up until now have a better chance of passing."
Killua didn't look happy. "I don't like it. Explain to us how you counted the points.
"ho ho ho! Impossible." The chairman said with a straight face.
"'Scuse me!?" Killua yelled, a tick mark already on him. I was just as curious. I wanted to know more.
"The way we counted, lies in absolute secret. I can't reveal everything to you. However, I can still give you some explanations of our ways. First, the basis of the evaluation. They're based on three essential points. Now the explanation. Strength, mind, and charisma. In the evaluation of strength, these things are taken into account : speed, suppleness, resistance, and use of the five senses. The evaluation of the mind, as for it, it regroups the uses of resistance, adaptation, appreciation, and creation, but this only corresponds to references' measures. What allowed you to reach the end is first, your charisma. Its something difficult to quantify. "Something" the essential component of a hunter. The results come from all I just told you and all you told me. That's all."
I glanced at Killua. I smirked. He looked frustrated. Seeing the tournament rankings, he was in a lower place than Gon. "Maybe if you were nicer, you could have been put better on the board."
"I still placed in a better place than you." He said looking away. "You're in the same league with Leorio, from the looks of it."
"Naaaah. As you can see I'm in a better place than Leorio. Cause he sucks."
"I heard that you brats!" Leorio yelled at us.
"Uh-oh." Killua and I said, dodging his attacks. We hadn't been paying attention to the Chairman so we didn't hear what he had said next.
Kurapika filled us in though. Apparently we aren't allowed to kill our opponent but everything is allowed, pretty much. If we kill, we will be disqualified and everyone else wins. That was simple enough. As it was, we were watching Gon fight against Hanzo. Leorio had grown tired of us and decided to ignore us. He tended to do that a lot, I've noticed. I sat in front of Kurapika, I was tired of standing. It took awhile for the fight to start. Hanzo, the talkative ninja, was really talkative. Did he ever stop talking?
Gon ran away from Hanzo, Hanzo caught up easily. His eyes were fierce, like he was hunting his prey, Gon. I had known he wasn't average. Judging by the fight, he was experienced in battles. He had tried to land a blow behind Gon's neck. If that had been me, I would have instantly relaxed, but Gon wasn't average either. Gon fell to the ground, knocked out. Everyone was stunned. I just calmly looked on. Hanzo woke up Gon, and he appeared in pain.
"You're not in the best shape, huh? That's normal. I hit you, so you can't react correctly. It's only my experience that makes the difference. So you'd better quit now."
"No way!" Gon said resisting him. He stuck his tongue out to Hanzo. Hanzo made another blow to his head. He kept trying to make Gon give up. Gon was just too stubborn. Gon received another blow to the head. He was laying on the ground again.
"Gon! Don't be so persistent about this! There are other matches!" Leorio shouted to Gon.
"Leorio, if you were Gon, would you say you'd lost?" Kurapika asked, his eyes never leaving the fight.
"This is a matter of wanting to win." I said, rubbing my ear.
"I'd rather die! But do you think I can tell him this? Talking to him is the only thing I can do!" Leorio kept shouting.
"That's contradictory, but I can understand the way you feel." Kurapika agreed with Leorio. Both were watching the match intensely.
"Could you stop yelling old man?" Hikaru said speaking dryly to Leorio.
"I'm not old! I'm 19!"
"WHHHAAAT?" Hikaru shouted. Her hands went to her cheeks in surprise.
"Right? He doesn't look 19! What if he's lying about his age?"
"I'm not!" Leorio said hitting my head.
"Oww! That hurts!"
"Brats need to know their place."
"Whatever old man."
"OW! I'll kill you!"
"Calm down you guys. Watch the match." Kurapika said reprimanding us.
"Hmpf!"
Nothing had changed during the match. Hanzo was still beating Gon senseless. It's not like anything was going to change.
Three hours had passed and the match was still going on. Gon stopped spitting out blood, he was still getting beat up. Leorio was ticked off. Everyone else was restless.
"You're gonna stop this now? I'll kill you if you continue! Come here and fight me!" Leorio shouted to Hanzo.
"If it's too hard for you to watch, then get out of here, cause the worst is still to come." Hanzo replied to Leorio. Two of the guards got in front of Leorio.
"No interventions. It's a 1 vs 1 match. Despite that, supposing you intervene, it's Gon who'll be disqualified." Leorio shook in rage. He looked liked he was about to burst a vein.
"I'm fine, Leorio. Everything is okay. I can bear some more." Gon said. His eye was swollen. There were so many bruises on his face. Hanzo had had enough. He pushed Gon to the ground and flipped him over, his arm behind his back.
"I'm going to break your arm." He said nonchalantly. Again everyone looked shocked. Hisoka's face hadn't changed at all since the beginning. Leorio, Kurapika, and Killua couldn't hide the shock in their eyes. I just stared at the match.
"I'm serious, so just say it."
"NO!"
CRACK
"AAAAAHHHH!" was heard in the hotel. I felt hatred swell inside me. I tried to calm myself down. I could see red everywhere, meaning my eyes were already scarlet. This was a match. A match between Gon and Hanzo. This match had nothing to do with me. I kept trying to tell myself.
"I can't believe he really did it." Hikaru shaking. Her hands were covering her mouth in shock. Her eyes wide in sudden realization of what could happen.
Leorio's face was red. His entire body was shaking. I hadn't seen such a look of fury on Leorio's face before. "Kurapika, don't stop me. If that guy goes any farther.. I'm sorry for Gon but I will kick his ass."
"Stop you? Me? Don't count on it. There is no chance of that happening." I looked up at Kurapika. His eyes had gone scarlet, the same as me. His hands were on my shoulders, he didn't realize he was gripping my shoulders tightly. It was painful but I didn't say a thing. He was already consumed in rage. He was shaking too. I felt it. Killua looked calm but I wondered what hid under his poker face.
"At your age, I'd already killed." Hanzo said. He was exercising in the middle of the match. I couldn't believe he sounded proud of his "achievement." "Anyways, in this fight, you can't win against me. I don't say that to make you mad. Only say that you lose." He finally looked at Gon. During his speech Gon had gotten up and he kicked Hanzo.
"Yeah! Let's go Gon! Kill him!" Leorio shouted out.
"Leorio, if he does that he will lose."
"Such a simple mind." Hikaru commented.
"Very simple." I agreed.
"18 years old. There's only 6 years between us! And in this match, we don't need to show our strength but to know who will abandon first!" Gon spoke.
"I let you kick me, but-"
"LIAR!" Leorio and I shouted at Hanzo. His nose was bleeding! There was no way he had known Gon had gotten up! He got kicked in the FACE!
"I don't think you really understand, that wasn't a question, but an order. I will get rid of one of your legs. You won't ever be able to use it again. When you see a fatal injury you'll understand, ne? But I repeat once more, say it: 'I lose'"
It was a stand still. Gon looked to be in thought.
"That's not good.. I don't want you to cut my leg, but I don't want to lose!" Gon spoke. His mind was oh so simple. "Let's fight in another way."
"Wha?" Hanzo shouted. "No but?! Don't you understand the situation?"
I was stunned. I blinked. I looked up at Kurapika, he was as stunned as me. I turned to look at Leorio, his mouth was open. Even Hisoka was giggling. Everyone in the room laughed.
"You won't decide, huh? I'll cut your leg, I'm serious!"
"That doesn't mean that I will say that I will lose! If you do that, I'll bleed to death."
"Huh?"
"In that case, he would lose, right?" Gon addressed one of the guys in the black suits.
"ah.. Yes!"
"And? You see that won't be nice. Think about it." Gon said speaking to Hanzo again. Hanzo didn't know what to do. He was so angry and furious.
"Well Gon won" I said looking up at the boys.
"Gon has changed the situation. How to say.. He's stubborn for sure."
Killua looked surprised. He didn't understand how the situation had changed so much. I shook my head. He shouldn't overthink this, but he probably was.
Hanzo swung his arm, that had the blade at Gon. His blade barely pierced Gon's forehead. His tip was so sharp, Gon was bleeding. "You haven't really understood. If you die, you won't be able to continue. Nothing will be in your way to come back next year. The other way, if I kill you here... WE ARE NOT EQUAL! YOU UNDERSTAND?" His eyes had a wild look to him. As if in... fear?
Kurapika moved away and tried to step towards Gon, Leorio stopped him. His gaze was filled with faith in Gon.
Gon's look was unwavering. His eyes only saw victory, nothing else. Hanzo wasn't even in his view. I think Hanzo finally realized this.
"Why? It's only two words, after all.. you know that you'll be able to come back next year, right? This is really more important than your life? Say it lik that, that this is all okay?!" Hanzo shouted at Gon.
They stared into one another's eyes.
"I want to meet my father. He's a hunter, actually he is far from here. I really think that one day I'll meet him. But, if I lose here.. I think that I won't ever be able to meet him. This is the reason why I won't go back on my decision."
"But if you stay here you will die." I could see it in his eyes. Hanzo was breaking. A few more seconds, Hanzo took back his blade. "I've lost. I admit I've lost. I can't kill him and I can't find a way of making you say you've lost. I've lost. I will wait until the next match."
Gon's face was in shock. "No. That's not possible! Let's find a way to continue this fight!"
"I suspected it.. Are you stupid or what? Whatever the manner of fighting, I won't get you to say that you've lost!"
"Maybe.. This way is not good enough!"
"How do you want?!"
"Let's find a way together!"
"Let me see if I understand.. I resigned myself to lose, but you, you say to me that you intend to beat me seriously once more. You want us to find a way for you to win in a fight.. is that it?
"Yeah!" Gon said happy.
"IDIOT!" Hanzo shouted at Gon, giving him the uppercut. Gon hadn't seen that blow coming and had taken the hit. I just couldn't believe Gon. He won, what had he been thinking?
"Hey, jurors! I lost, I'll fight again in the second matching, I think the committee must know that that kind of stuff won't remain this way. When he comes to, you can be sure he'll refuse the title. have you seen his stubborness? Each time he decides something, he does all he can to make this happen. It's agreed? There will be only one loser in this tournament? If it's Gon, all the fights from now on will be meaningless, won't they?"
"No need to worry. Gon has won. Whatever he says, he won't be able to change that.
Gon was taken to another room.
"Even if Gon complains, and threatens to kill me, his hunter's certificate can't be cancelled."
"I see." Hanzo looked relieved. Finally it was time for the second match! it would be between me and Hikaru!
