Alfendi calmed down and brushed his hands through his wild tangled hair. Placid walked through to the reception hall and up to the counter. He awkwardly placed his hands in his pocket and look patiently at the nurse. He tried hard not to fidget as the woman shuffled a pile of paper into a neat bundle and held them out to him. For a moment he stood, staring blankly at the white wall to his right

"Mr Layne?" She tilted her head.

He snapped back to reality and took the papers from her.

They were all either hospital and doctor related documents and in the middle was a different piece of transparent paper showing a roughly sketched map of one area of the hospital with the code S3 written on a room.

Al spotted the map and began to look for the code but couldn't find it at first. After a few minutes of looking back and forth he spotted it on the bottom right corner of the map showed half of a room. That means the map didn't show all of the hospital, he held up the paper to the corner of the map and memorised directions to S3.

A lot of twists and turns later and the un-occasional "No sir you can't go... Oh sorry sir I didn't notice.", he came to an empty hallway with peeling paintwork and rooms with the smell of death. A door on the far end of the hall he came across a door which looked too new to be there. The word special condition was scratched onto the wood of the door.

He pushed the door and it creaked open, he could see a bright light and medical equipment, a well re-decorated room and stocked cabinets. Fresh white orchids and light pink tulips stood in a vase, next to the hospital bed on a small table. The room's cleanliness starkly contrasted the outside hallway.

Lucy could hear footsteps and sighed in her mind, she knew it wasn't hers. She tried to say something but as she opened her mouth nothing came out.

Alfendi saw Lucy's hair was brushed down neatly and the honey colour of her hair seemed dimmer, her hands had been placed by her sides. Placid prof smiled at the thought of her being so still as being absolutely impossible. He saw her pale face and imagined the smile she always had.

"L-Lucy" Alfendi whispered in a soft choked up voice. "I know you can't hear me but..."

Lucy could hear every word but not speak. She tried desperately to reach out, she heard his voice and wanted to see his face again.

Images of Alfendi flashed through her mind. The memories buried into her brain burst out at one time and Lucy felt as if she was losing control until a single memory played in her head. "I'm Alfendi Layton. Inspector Layton around here. But please don't feel obliged to stick to formalities when you address me."

Alfendi sat down on a chair and reached out to grab Lucy's hand. "There was something I wanted to tell you that night, when I told you we couldn't be together. I was just trying to protect you and look at what I've done."

Emotions tug at his hears as he tries to hold back his tears.
"You won't ever forgive me I know that but, I still love you very much and I'd do anything for you"
A soft knock at the door made Alfendi jump. An old woman waked in with a tray if food for him.
"What is with the empty rooms?"
"They closed half them hospital ward ages ago because we never needed 'em any more. Not since the war, this used to be safe ground for soldiers to rest, now half of this hospital isn't even used anyway. The rooms have been left alone also without patients in them there isn't a need to clean them and no one's paying for them to be fixed. Besides this is a small town now and the most amount of people wouldn't even fill the rooms we use anyway."

Alfendi sat patiently, listening to the woman.
"But I've talked too much now and I best be off. Stay as long as you like"
He turned back to look at Lucy her face.
"Lucy I love you and I will not let you die" His voice turned hoarse and his eyes watered.
Day after day passed and Alfendi visited every day he could. He told her his secrets and although he didn't know it she listened to them all.
Lucy still trapped in unconsciousness felt comforted by Alfendi's presence each day when she heard his voice her worries washed away.
