"Of course I made the team. You're looking at its new defensive cornerback." Lazarus boasted as AJ rolled his eyes. They had been in school for a month now and a lot of people were already tired of it. AJ being one of them. His eyes soon landed on a beautiful lavender hedgehog.
"Who's that?" AJ asked as Lazarus looked over at Amber.
"Oh that's Amber. I think she's one of Tusi's friends." Lazarus said but soon noticed AJ was walking over there already.
"Why hello Miss. May I be honored by your presence?" He asked bowing as Amber giggled.
"I'll give you points on the politeness, but if you're expecting me to fall for the 'Prince Charming' talk, you're going to be disappointed." Amber said as AJ straightened himself up.
"I thought a pixie like you would like fairytale talk." He teased as she smiled.
"You're AJ right? Todd and Jillian's son?" She asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah?" Then he suddenly realized that she was at the party and she came with Silver. "And you're Blaze and Silver's daughter." He said as she nodded. She noticed Topaz talking to Ruby as Onyx look over at Topaz while talking to Tyler on the opposite side of the hallway.
"Excuse me for a second," Amber said as she walked over to her sister. "Topaz can you come with me for a second?" She said as Topaz shrugged her shoulders and walked with her. "Oh, wait I got to ask Tyler something. C'mon!" She said as she went over to Tyler and Onyx who was just joined by Ruby. "Tyler is your family supposed to come for dinner?" She asked.
"I think that's tomorrow night." Tyler said as Topaz looked over to Onyx who was looking down nervously.
"Oh! Topaz I don't think you've met Onyx. Topaz, this is Onyx, Ruby's twin brother." Amber said as Onyx raised his head to see Topaz.
"Hi." Topaz said shyly.
"Hey." Onyx said shyly. They both had a nervous smile on their faces and Ruby caught on immediately.
"So Topaz, like I was saying before, I need some help in Stats. Do you think you can come over today and help?" Ruby asked as Topaz smiled and nodded.
"Sure, no problem." She said.
"Oh wait! I'm catching a ride with another friend today. Onyx, you brought your car today, do you think you can give her a lift to our house. " Ruby asked as Onyx looked at her suspiciously.
"I can do it." Tyler offered before getting roughly elbowed by Amber. "Never mind, Conner and I have to work on some stuff later." He wheezed holding his stomach.
"Um…Sure." Onyx said as Ruby and Amber smiled.
"Sounds like you guys have plan, I'll see you guys later." Amber said before walking back to AJ.
"You're devious, aren't you?" AJ smirked as Amber giggled.
"It was for a good reason. They obviously like each other." Amber said putting her hands on her hips.
"Whatever you say." He said shaking his head as she smiled. Chrissy was in her Honors English class reading as usual when a certain black and blue hedgehog decided to lean on her desk.
"Whacha reading?" Bolt asked peeking his nose between the book and her.
"None of your business." She said almost closing the book on his nose, but he backed away before she could. Bolt grabbed the book out of her hands and skimmed through it.
"You know it doesn't change how many times you read it." He said showing her the Harry Potter book.
"I happen to like the book enough to reread it. But also, it's a part of series and this is the fifth book." Chrissy said.
"You know some people will be happy if I'm in most of their classes. Why aren't you?" He asked twirling her pencil in his hand.
"I'm sorry if I'm not like the other brain dead girls here that swoon for you." She said rolling her eyes.
"I'm not asking you to swoon over me. I'm just saying to be happy I'm in most of your classes." Bolt smirked.
"Well you'll be dead by the time that happens." She said getting up from her desk and deciding to move, seeing how Bolt wasn't going to. He was quick on his feet and stood in front of her. He was a significant amount taller than her, but he didn't intimidate her one bit.
"And why is that?" Bolt asked crossing his arms.
"Because you're a cocky, arrogant jock who thinks he can win anyone over with just a wink." Chrissy said crossing her arms.
"You do judge me a lot, don't you?" He murmured tilting his head to the side and she just glared back at him.
"I'm not judging you. I'm right about you this time." She said turning her back to him.
"Well I'm not some prude who thinks she can only get recognized by her grades while everyone just tolerates her." He retorted before turning her around to make her face him. She slapped him across the face just as the teacher walked in, shocking him.
"Don't ever say that about me again." She said through clenched teeth.
"Miss Prower and Mr. Solari, you two will be spending your time in detention today after school!" The teacher yelled as they nodded and returned to their seats. Chrissy looked outside the window to hide her tears while Bolt was still in shock at how he got slapped. Brice was sitting in his Zoology class when he noticed the girl from the cafeteria walk in.
"Class this is Nicole Mondair. She is switching in from Anatomy. Make her feel welcomed." The teacher announced before she pointed to a seat next to Brice. Brice sat up as Nicole sat next to him.
"Hi, I'm Nicole." She greeted with a smile.
"Hey I'm Brice." Brice said as he stuck at his huge hand.
"Wow your hands are so much bigger then mine." Nicole said putting her hand atop of his. Brice blushed and rubbed the back of his head.
"I kind of get that from my Dad." He said and winced at how lame he sounded.
"Your dad is Knuckles, right?" She asked and he nodded. "Yeah I'm Elijah and Arielle's kid. I've seen you around a couple of times at gatherings, but I've never really introduced myself." She told him and he just smiled softly.
"Yeah, admittedly I don't hang around with everyone that much. But I think I'm reconsidering." He looked over to her and she just laughed and returned to her work. Serenity was in her American Literature class when she noticed Tyler, Ruby, and Conner outside. She started to watch them perform tricks as she watched Conner film. Suddenly he looked over to her and she looked away as she blushed. Conner smiled as he got that on tape and thought about how he will show it to her sometime.
"Conner quit daydreaming!" Ruby called out as Conner snapped out of his thoughts.
"I wasn't daydreaming." He muttered as Tyler and Ruby rolled their eyes. In Chemistry, Tsunami and Lazarus were sitting next to each other. Ever since the party, they've had polite conversation without much substance. He didn't know how to approach her and make everything back to normal and Tsunami felt the same way.
"Did you make the soccer team?" Lazarus asked trying to make conversation even though he knew she did.
"Yep, I'm the team's right halfback." She said proudly. "Did you make the football team?" Tsunami said looking at him. She already knew he did, but wanted to see if he had a cocky remark to her question.
"Yeah, I'm the defensive cornerback." Lazarus said which surprised Tsunami. She expected a cocky remark or even a cocky smile. Another cat walked over to Tsunami since the period was almost over and the teacher let them do what they wanted until the bell rang.
"Hey, how about me and you go to the diner after school?" The cat asked as Lazarus glared at him with his fists clenched. The cat was on the skinny side with brown fur and blue eyes that were currently trained on Tsunami. Tsunami blushed as she saw the cat starring at her expectantly. He was decent-looking and didn't seem that bad.
"Sure." She agreed with a shrug before the cat gave her his information. She found out his name was Will and he smiled at her before heading back to his desk. "Are you all right?" She asked Lazarus noticing he had become silent and looked tense.
"I'm fine." He muttered gruffly and she was surprised by his sudden change in demeanor.
"Are you sure?" Tsunami asked trying to look at his face.
"Yeah I'm fine!" He shouted as he grabbed his bag and left the classroom before the bell rang.
"That's afternoon detention Mr. Panther." The teacher called out passively.
"I don't care." Lazarus muttered as he turned away from the classroom. Tsunami was left alone as the bell rang. She ran out of the classroom to see if he was still outside, but he was gone. Maybe she shouldn't have agreed to go on the date after all as she started to feel guilty and worried for Lazarus. Lunch came around and Chrissy was poking at her food angrily while Lauren and Shade stared at her concerned.
"Chrissy, are you okay?" Lauren asked while Chrissy just stared down at her food with a frown.
"Yeah I'm fine." She mumbled in a flat tone as Shade and Lauren shared a look.
"Hey Shade, do you know what we have to do for that Art project?" Shawn asked approaching their table while he was followed by Flash and Bolt. Shawn sat down next to Shade as Bolt and Flash sat down beside him. Chrissy didn't look up from her food, but she started to stab her food. Bolt was across from her and he was glaring into his food with his arms crossed over his chest. Shawn and Shade soon finished talking and an extremely awkward and tense silence filled the air.
"So…" Lauren said.
"Yeah…" Shawn nodded.
"Uh Huh…" Shade mumbled.
"Grape Jelly!" Flash exclaimed as everybody stared at him in confusion. "What? Everybody else was saying stuff, I wanted to too" He shrugged as everybody laughed except for Chrissy and Bolt.
"This is your entire fault." Chrissy sneered as Bolt glared at her.
"Please elaborate at how this possibly can be my fault?" He asked loudly and mockingly.
"If you hadn't been such a jackass we wouldn't have detention!" She shouted standing up from her seat.
"You're the one you slapped me and got us into this entire mess!" He yelled standing up as well. People in the cafeteria were beginning to stare as the rest of their table tried to make them sit down.
"Me? No you're the one who thought he can run his mouth off to me and think it will be all okay!" She yelled at him before putting her hands on her hips.
"I didn't do anything to you that has been any different then before! You're the one who overreacted!" Bolt shouted as Chrissy turned sharply and began to walk away. "Yeah walk away because apparently that's the only thing you can do!" He yelled as she stopped and turned around.
"You're a real son of a bitch!" She screamed as Bolt glared at her.
"Well you're the actual bitch!" He yelled back as some people gasped.
"Asshole!" She shouted as people gasped again.
"Douchebag!" He said back as again, people gasped.
"Fuck off!" She screamed before storming out of the cafeteria. Tyler was quick to follow his sister out of the cafeteria while half of the cafeteria and Bolt just sat in shock. Lauren and Shade slowly got up before walking off to find Chrissy.
"Well…that happened" Flash said as Bolt still stood frozen in shock.
"Just wait until their detention." Shawn said as Flash pulled his cousin back down into his seat. Outside the cafeteria Derek and Lazarus were sitting at one of the tables outside talking about what was going on between him and Ginger.
"So…your Mom and Lilac walked in before you could kiss her?" Lazarus asked clarifying Derek's story.
"Yeah." He nodded.
"Well at least you know she likes you." Lazarus mumbled.
"Problem with Tsunami?" He raised his eyebrow.
"A guy asked her out on a date and she said yes." He pouted angrily.
"Harsh. Well did she seem excited?" Derek asked leaning against the table.
"I guess. After he left, she to seemed to only be concerned about me." He mumbled.
"I think she likes you." Derek said and Lazarus rolled his eyes.
"Yeah right. If she did, she wouldn't have said yes to Will." He snarled his name.
"She didn't have a reason to say no. She's single and you're not her boyfriend." Derek said as Lazarus crossed his arms.
"Yet." Lazarus said getting up from the table. Derek shrugged his shoulders as they walked into the cafeteria. A chill ran up Lazarus' spine and he grabbed Derek and dropped them to the ground. They watched as an apple flew right over them and smashed into a wall. Lazarus looked to see who the culprit was and saw that it was Will and his stupid friends who were currently laughing. He glared at them before smirking and grabbing a pudding cup from nearby. He pulled the lid off before chucking it over there. It landed right between Will's eyes before sliding off his face slowly. Will growled before grabbing his juice bottle and hurling it towards Lazarus. Derek was quick to freeze the incoming liquid and fired it back towards Will.
"Food Fight!" Flash called out as everybody started throwing their food. Lazarus dodged every shot at him as he kept throwing stuff at Will. Derek was looking around the cafeteria while he kept an ice barrier around him to block any food from hitting him. He spotted Ginger ducking underneath a table trying to avoid being hit and he ran towards her.
"C'mon." Derek said grabbing her from under the table and running towards the exit, but they were stopped by the principal at the door. Everybody stopped throwing their food immediately as some stayed in the air because of people's telekinetic powers.
"Who started this?" The principal shouted as everybody pointed at Lazarus and Derek. "You two have afternoon detention! Now clean up this mess!" He shouted as everybody started to pick up everything.
"Great." Derek muttered sarcastically as Ginger stayed quiet. "Are you okay?" He asked finally.
"Yeah I'm fine." She said shyly. "I guess I'll see you at detention." She shrugged as he raised an eyebrow. "I have it because I was late." She explained as she walked away. Derek smiled to himself. His day got a whole lot better.
The rest of the day continued on with nothing of interest going on. Lazarus, Derek, Bolt, Ginger, and Chrissy all reported to the library for detention after school. They all had to sit at separate tables and keep quiet. Lazarus was still pissed off on how that guy asked out Tsunami and was basically the reason for him being here, Ginger was doodling in her notebook, Derek was listening to his music, Bolt was flicking sparks in the air and turning them into ice before catching them, and Chrissy was reading quietly.
"Okay you delinquents I have to go make some copies. I don't want anyone of you to move or talk!" The teacher said before she left the library. Lazarus and Bolt started to get up and talk to each other as Derek moved next to Ginger.
"Why don't you talk to her?" Lazarus whispered to Bolt.
"No! Why should I talk to her?" Bolt whispered back as Lazarus rolled his eyes.
"It's pretty obvious that you like her." Lazarus said as Bolt blushed and crossed his arms.
"I do not." He denied as Lazarus shook his head and sighed.
"Whatever. Go on being in denial, but you must have said something to her that pissed her off enough to slap you." He said as Bolt looked over at her.
"You think I really upset her?" Bolt asked as Lazarus nodded. Bolt deliberated for a few more minutes before walking over there. "Hey." He said quietly as he sat across from her.
"What doyou want?" She muttered not lifting her head from her book.
"I'm sorry." Bolt said as she looked up at him.
"What?" She asked clearly shocked by his sudden apology.
"I'm sorry for whatever I said to you that made you mad." Bolt said while he rubbed the back of his head.
"Fine." She muttered as she went back to reading.
"Am I forgiven?" Bolt asked.
"Sure." She shrugged as she focused on her book.
"Can I ask you something?" He asked as he moved next to her.
"I think you just did." She said as he rolled his eyes.
"What did I say exactly?" He asked as Chrissy stopped reading. She dropped her book and sighed before turning to face him.
"You said I can only get recognized with my grades while everyone only tolerates me and you're right." She shrugged before looking down sadly.
"What?" He asked confused.
"You don't know what's it like having an older brother who's smart, athletic, and good looking now with a pretty girlfriend. You tend to be overshadowed. I love my brother, but it only seems like I'm here to be the smart one. I'm the smart nerdy girl and that's it." She said bringing her knees to her chest and resting her head on them. Bolt sighed before lifting her head back up to look at him. He removed her glasses and pulled her hair out of its ponytail. He had a taste of just how beautiful she was when she pressed him against the locker that one day and had no clue what the hell she was talking about just now. She stared at him with those big blue and hazel eyes and Bolt temporarily forgot what he was going to say.
"You're so much more than that. You're talented and beautiful." He whispered softly still holding her face in between his hands. Chrissy blushed at his comment and so did he when he realized he was still touching her. "I mean, you know, in a friend way." Bolt babbled nervously and Chrissy smiled softly. He didn't really feel that way, but he wasn't really sure how he felt right now. "Um, we are friends, right?" He asked scratching the back of his head.
"Yeah, we're friends." She told him and they both smiled.
"Oh come on!" Lazarus yelled as they both looked over at him. He stared at them wide-eyed before quickly pretending like he was doing something else like he wasn't just eavesdropping on them. He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket and pulled out to see a text from Tsunami. He smirked and quickly unlocked his phone to see her message.
How's detention?
Boring as hell! How's your date?
Same. He's so self absorbed!
That sounds fun…I'll tell you what, if I'm out and you're still on you're date I'll get you out of it.
How are you going to do that?
I have some tricks up my sleeves. Got to go, the teacher is walking back in.
He finished his text and ran to find Derek so he and Ginger wouldn't get in trouble for leaving their desks. Derek and Ginger were walking around the library discussing the different books they've read and liked.
"I like a lot of classical books." Ginger told him.
"What's your favorite?" Derek asked as they walked down another aisle of books.
"Too many to count. I'm reading The Fault In Our Stars right now." She said as they walked into another aisle of books.
"Into to the romantic stories?" He asked.
"Yeah, I can't help it. My mother has always been a hopeless romantic. I picked it up from her." Ginger laughed a little before Derek took her hand into his.
"I think it's nice." He told as he turned towards her. She blushed and Derek decided that this was his opportunity. He moved his hand to her waist and began to lean in towards her face. Ginger closed her eyes and slightly raised herself up on her toes.
"Derek! The teacher is coming back!" Lazarus called out as Derek sighed annoyed. He and Ginger started to run through the library and he made sure that Ginger got into her seat before he slipped into his. The teacher walked in and saw that they were the same as she left them. She nodded once before returning to her seat. Detention soon came to an end and Lazarus practically sprinted out of the library texting rapidly.

Lazarus smirked and asked Derek for a ride when he eventually got to the parking lot. Derek drove him to the diner and Lazarus thanked him before racing into the diner. Tsunami's eyes lit up when she saw Lazarus walk in and he smiled over to her. He lifted her up from the booth and into his arms before racing out of the diner. Once they were in the clear, he put her back down on her feet and she stared at him incredulously.
"That was your plan?" She asked as they started to walk down the sidewalk.
"It worked, didn't it?" He smirked and she laughed and shook her head.
"So…why did you storm off during Chemistry?" She asked. She couldn't handle it anymore she needed to know what had upset him so much.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." He said chuckling slightly.
"Try me." She said stopping in front of him and crossing her arms.
"I rather not." He shook his head as he tried to step around her but she was quick to block him.
"Just tell me." She told him and he sighed.
"I was just mad because that guy asked you out." Lazarus mumbled.
"Why? I thought you didn't care about that kind of stuff." Tsunami asked as Lazarus looked at her confused.
"Do you think I don't care about you?" He asked as Tsunami looked down.
"I don't know. I hope you do." She shrugged shyly. He didn't say anything right away and she wondered if she had messed up by telling him that.
"Ah, fuck it." Lazarus said before he grabbed her face and kissed her. She was surprised at first, but she readily kissed him back. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he moved his arms to around her waist. Tsunami smiled into their kiss, but suddenly he was propelled away from her with a blast of water.
"Hydro!" Tsunami yelled at her brother before going over to check on Lazarus.
"He was kissing you!" Hydro shouted before pulling her away from him.
"I was kissing him back! I happen to like him!" She told him as both Hydro and Lazarus stared at her wide-eyed.
"You do?" They both asked.
"Yes!" She yelled at Hydro. "I really do." She told him firmly holding Lazarus' hand and Lazarus' smile widened as he looked down at Tsunami.
"That doesn't mean I like you." Hydro glared at Lazarus.
"I wouldn't have it any other way." He smirked as Hydro scowled and grabbed Tsunami. She kissed Lazarus on the cheek before she was pulled away. He touched the place she kissed and silently did a victory dance. He quickly composed himself and started walking home with a giant smile on his face.
