"Oh My God! Oh My God! Guess what's happening this weekend!?" Amber exclaimed running over to Tsunami and Conner.

"What?" Conner asked.

"The school's having a Back to School Dance and the theme is Masquerade Formal! You know what that means…shopping for dresses!" Amber said bouncing up and down and Tsunami groaned. "Don't give me that look, Tsunami! You're definitely going since you have Lazarus to take you." Amber said putting her hands on her hips.

"He won't want to go and I don't need a dress!" Tsunami argued.

"Where would I not want to go?" Lazarus asked wrapping his arms around Tsunami and kissing her on the cheek.

"A Masquerade Dance or Ball whatever you want to call it. Don't you think it will be fun?" Amber asked bouncing up and down again. Tsunami shook her head as she looked at one of her best friend.

"Uh…not really. I rather spend the evening with my beautiful girlfriend watching a movie." He lied smoothly. He didn't really care what they did, but Tsunami appreciated him lying on her behalf.

"Well…too bad! You're both going and you too Conner." Amber said looking over to Conner.

"Why do I have to go? I don't have anyone to go with." Conner said as he messed with his camera.

"You're all going and that's final!" Amber said stomping her foot on the ground as everybody sighed in defeat. Later in that day, Chrissy was talking to Bolt in their Spanish class. Ever since they resolved their issue in detention they've actually gotten quite close.

"So…did you hear about the Back to School Dance?" Bolt asked leaning on Chrissy's desk.

"Yeah and I don't want to go, but knowing Lauren does and she'll drag me down there." Chrissy muttered. "Are you going?" He nodded with a smile on his face. "Who are you taking?" She asked casually.

"Uh…I don't know." He said as he looked down. He wanted to take her, but they were only supposed to be friends. But maybe they could go as friends? Would that be weird? He only just fixed the mess he made, he didn't want to cause another.

"What? The great Bolt Solari without a date? I'm shocked!" Chrissy said overdramatically as Bolt rolled his eyes.

"Well if you already know you're going, then who are you going to go with?" Bolt asked secretly hoping that she didn't have a date.

"No clue, but I bet Lauren is on a full blown search." Chrissy said as Bolt smiled half-heartedly.

"Hola! Abrir sus libros en la página 45." The teacher said as he walked in. Bolt turned around and opened his book, but only focusing on Chrissy. After third period, Roddy was waiting for Lilac at her locker. He was going to do it. He was going to ask her to the dance. When she saw her walking towards him he froze and became nervous.

"Hey Roddy." She greeted her usual quiet voice.

"Hey Lilac, I was wondering…if you…would…uh…if you're not busy…if you'd, um…" Roddy cursed himself for stuttering so much. He can do this. He can do this!

"He wants to know if you would go to the dance with him." Andrew said walking behind him with Hydro. Lilac blushed as she nodded yes.

"You will?" Roddy sputtered.

"Yes." She smiled.

"My work here is done." Andrew said dusting off his hands and walking away with Hydro chuckling and following.

"You want to go to the dance with me?" Roddy asked still not believing it.

"Yeah." She said with a shrug and a blush across her cheeks. Roddy chuckled before pulling her into his arms and hugging her tightly.

"Thank you." He told her earnestly. She couldn't help but smile as she wrapped her arms around him. Outside the school Ruby was skating around the campus casually. She skidded to a stop when she saw Shawn lying on a small hill looking up at the blue sky with his arms folded behind his head. Ruby and Shawn have had a couple of classes together and she always thought he was cute, but she thought he wouldn't go for a girl like her. That didn't stop her from being his friend though and she quickly walked over to him.

"What are you doing?" Ruby asked as she stood over him with her dreads following around her face.

"Just thinking." Shawn said shrugging his shoulders. He sat up as Ruby sat down next to him.

"About?" Ruby asked as he rested his arms on his knees.

"Everything. School, friends, upcoming stuff things in that nature." Shawn shrugged as he looked over to Ruby. "Not hanging out with Tyler today?" Shawn asked raising an eyebrow. Truth be told, Shawn thought Ruby was cute and funny, but always thought she had a thing for Tyler. Tyler Prower…with his good looks, cool skateboard, and superior intelligence. Damn him.

"No I told him to go spend time with Liecy. I mean, the dude hasn't even taken her on a proper date. What's up with that?" She scoffed and shook her head.

"Oh yeah, I heard they got together. That must have been rough for you." He mumbled and she looked at him confused.

"How so?" Ruby asked.

"Didn't you like him?" Shawn asked slowly before Ruby started laughing hysterically.

"I don't like him! He's like my third brother. I can never look at him that way! I mean, just ew! It's Tyler!" She laughed wiping a tear from her eye.

"Oh…my bad." He said bashfully and she shook her head. He didn't really feel bad because maybe now he had a chance. Maybe he doesn't have to be a skater dude to date her.

"No it's okay. I get that a lot. Hell, my brothers have even asked me about it. Everybody just thinks because we're so close that one of us like the other." Ruby explained as Shawn nodded. A comfortable silence fell over them and Shawn decided to peek into the future. Unlike his dad, visions just appear to him, he can't see everything, only what pops into his head. Reese believes he does have to potential to see everything, but just has to strengthen his ability. Shawn didn't mind either way. However, the vision that came to the forefront of his mind now was one of Ruby holding someone else's hand and laughing with them. He snapped back to reality and looked to Ruby who was lying down on the grass next to him. He sighed slowly, there goes his shot.

"Why is the sky blue?" She asked him and Shawn shrugged.

"The dust particles in the air reflect the color blue." Shawn explained as Ruby nodded. The bell rang and Ruby jumped onto her feet and grabbed her board.

"See you later, Shawn. You're going to the dance, right?" Ruby asked hopefully.

"Yeah." He told her as she smiled and flew into the air using her wings. Shawn smiled as he saw her fly away, but quickly snapped himself out of it. 'You're not the guy she's going to be with!' He told himself and he frowned after realizing it was true. After school, Amber dragged Tsunami and Topaz to the mall to shop for dresses.

"The dance is Friday and we need dresses now!" Amber exclaimed as she walked into the mall.

"Why do I even have to go?" Topaz asked innocently.

"Because we're all going to this, date or no date." Amber told her as they searched for a store. "Oo! Let's go to the Betsy Johnson store!" Amber said excitedly as she bounced towards the store. Topaz followed her while Tsunami dragged her feet into the store. Amber was running picking up different dresses for herself and her friends before stopping in front of Tsunami holding up a dress.

"I'm not wearing that!" Tsunami yelled as she looked at the bright pink dress with flowers around the waist with a very poufy skirt.

"C'mon it's cute!" Amber pouted as Tsunami grabbed the dress and put it back on the rack.

"Let's go to another store." Tsunami said crossing her arms.

"Sure, but we have to wait for Topaz she's trying on a dress." Amber said as they walked into the dressing room area. Topaz came out in a white strapless sweetheart neckline dress with a black bow around the waist and a gray color that faded from the belt and out the dress ending with white. "Oh My God! Topaz you have to get that dress!" Amber exclaimed as Topaz looked at herself.

"I think it will be better on you." Topaz said turning to Amber.

"I have to agree. That color will look better on you." Tsunami nodded as she looked at the dress.

"Are you serious? Let's go buy it then!" She exclaimed as she pushed Topaz back into the changing room to change. After a few more hours they all found their perfect dress and went home. The next day at school, Lauren and Hydro were in their music class and she was becoming annoyed because Hydro refused to tell her who he was going to ask to the dance.

"Who are you going to ask?" Lauren exclaimed putting on her hands on her hips. He was shifting his thoughts constantly and avoiding the topic of the dance in his mind and it was frustrating Lauren even more.

"Trust me, you'll find out soon enough. And I'm not asking her to the dance I'm asking her for a dance." He clarified as she rolled her eyes.

"You're going to slip up and I will find out." She said as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"We'll see." He smirked and Lauren huffed before stomping away and sitting next to Emily Rivers.

"I think he likes you." Emily said quietly.

"What?" Lauren asked confused.

"It seems like he likes you." Emily shrugged and Lauren rolled her eyes.

"Hydro doesn't like me. You're insane. He just likes annoying me." Lauren said leaning back in her seat. Emily shrugged her shoulders and returned to paying attention to what a couple of kids were singing. Lauren looked over to Hydro who was writing down some notes by the piano. She took a peek into his thoughts but he was simply singing a random tune in his mind. She huffed again and crossed her arms over her chest. The next day the football players were on the field for practice and Lazarus was talking to Bolt about the dance.

"So are you going to ask her?" Lazarus asked him as they did laps around the field.

"I don't know." Bolt mumbled as he slowed his pace just slightly to stay with Lazarus.

"How can you not know? It's bad enough that you said that the two of you should be friends when you have the biggest crush on her, but now you're not even going to ask her!" Lazarus exclaimed throwing his arms in the air.

"Say it any louder? I'm just saying, that I don't want to mess up the friendship by asking her out. If she doesn't feel the same way it could be totally awkward after that. We only just started to be friends!" Bolt explained as Lazarus rolled his eyes.

"That's total bullshit! She likes you and you know it! You're just afraid!" Lazarus said as Shade started to run next to them.

"Talking about his insane crush over Chrissy?" Shade asked as Bolt sighed annoyed.

"I don't want to ruin the Goddamn friendship! Is that so bad?" Bolt shouted as Shade rolled his eyes.

"I've been friends with Chrissy practically since diapers and I know she likes you back." Shade said as they started their fifth lap.

"Did she tell you that?" Bolt asked as he looked over to him.

"Well no, but—"Shade said but Bolt cut him off.

"My point has been made. You guys don't know if she likes me. If she tells you herself then go ahead and prove me wrong, but you guys don't know. So drop it." Bolt said as Shade and Lazarus shrugged their shoulders.

"Speed your lazy asses up! I know you can run faster than that!" Knuckles shouted as they groaned and ran faster. It was finally Friday and everybody was starting to make their way to the hotel where the dance was held. All the girls had lovely dresses on and the guys looked snazzy in their tuxes and suits.

"I don't understand why I have to where a tux." Tyler said as he walked in with Liecy.

"I don't understand either, but it's what is required if you want to get in." Liecy said. She was wearing a dark green gown with embroidery around her stomach and black gloves with a black mask and green jewels around it. Tyler was wearing a classic black on black tux with a dark green tie that matched Liecy's dress. He had a simple dark green mask and he wore a black and green snapback on his head.

"Did I tell you that you look absolutely beautiful tonight?" He whispered into her ear.

"Yes, about twenty times." Liecy laughed.

"And it's truer every time." He said as he led her to the dance floor. Lauren was waiting beside a door with her arms crossed and tapping her foot impatiently.

"I'm not going out there Lauren!" Chrissy yelled as she hid herself behind the door. Lauren rolled her eyes as she put her hands on her hips. Lauren was wearing a halter V-neck white and silver dress. It ended above her knees and had sparkles throughout the dress. She had a silver mask with crystals on the edges.

"C'mon! I didn't go through all this trouble just for you to hide in the shadows. I even got you a date!" Lauren shouted as she pulled Chrissy out into the light. Chrissy's hair was down and curled into loose waves. She had a light blue strapless gown that had a crystal design going down the side. She had a crystal necklace around her neck and a light blue mask with crystals around the eyeholes.

"Why do I need a date? You don't even have one!" Chrissy exclaimed putting her hands on her hips.

"Because I don't need one. You do and don't worry he's cute." Lauren smiled as she turned to the dance floor and looked around. "There he is!" She pointed out and started waving at him to come over. He was a grey fox with black tips on his ears and on his tail. He had stunning grey eyes and he was wearing a black tux with a blue bow tie. "Chrissy this is Joseph Garret." Lauren introduced as Chrissy blushed.

"Hey, I've heard a lot about you." He smiled.

"I hope those were all good things." Chrissy said eyeing Lauren.

"Oh don't worry, they were." He said as he linked his arm with her and led her to the dance floor. Bolt walked in with a tan cat in an orange gown that had crystals around the seam with an orange mask. He was wearing a black tux with a simple black tie and white mask.

"Thanks for taking me, Bolt." The cat gushed leaning on his shoulders.

"No problem, Tiff." He mumbled looking around. He couldn't find Chrissy among all these people, especially when they were all wearing masks. "Uh…I'm going to get us a drink." He said as he started walking over to the snack table. He picked up a cup and poured some punch in it as he continued to search the dance floor. He felt someone tap on his shoulder and he turned around to see a jaw-dropping beautiful girl smiling at him.

"Hey Bolt, you finally came." Chrissy greeted as Bolt smiled at her. Of course she would be the one to find him and not the other way around. She looked absolutely gorgeous that it took a moment for him to realize her arm was wrapped around some guy's. "Oh I forgot. Bolt this is my date, Joseph Garret. Joseph this is my friend, Bolt Solari." Chrissy introduced.

"Hey." Joseph said as he stuck his fist out for a fist bump.

"Hey." Bolt muttered as he hit his fist against his a little harder than necessary. He was openly glaring at Joseph, but because of his mask it was difficult to really tell.

"I'll see you later, Bolt. Have fun!" Chrissy said cheerfully as she walked away. Bolt grabbed a celery stick and started chewing on it as he watched Chrissy walk off with that asshole Joseph Garret.

Amber, Tsunami, Lazarus, and Topaz walked into the ballroom and Amber bounced excitedly. She was wearing the dress from Betsy Johnson with a black mask with gray designs on it. Tsunami was in a purple gown with crystal flower designs on the chest and flowing down the dress. She had a purple mask with silver designs on it. Lazarus was in a pinstriped black tux with a dark purple tie. Topaz was wearing a purple V-neck halter dress with swirling patterns around it and a black belt around the waist. She had a black mask with purple and blue designs around the eyes.

"Oh my God look at this place!" Amber said as she walked into the dance.

"It actually looks like a ballroom and not a school dance." Tsunami said as she linked her arm through Lazarus' arm.

"Well this place is not as beautiful as you." A voice said to Amber. She twirled around to see AJ in a gray tux with a white tie and silver mask. Amber giggled as he bowed and asked her to dance. She nodded yes and they walked onto the dance floor. Tsunami and Lazarus soon followed them and Topaz walked off to sit at a table. On the other side of the dance, Roddy, Lilac, and Ebony watched the masses of students dance around them.

"I can't believe I'm even here." Ebony muttered as she stood next to Roddy and Lilac.

"I told you thank you for coming." Lilac smiled. Lilac was in a cream dress that ended above her knees. It was strapless with a sweetheart neckline decorated with crystals that flowed downed the rest of the dress. Roddy was in a gray suit with a cream tie. They both had cream masks on and Lilac's had flowers on the end.

"You're welcome." Ebony mumbled before she walked off to the snack table. She had her hair down and straight with a red dress that had a sheer black fabric over it. It had flower designs down the skirt that ended above her knees and was a halter. She had a black mask with red rose designs around the edges. She poured herself some punch and drank it slowly as she watched people pass by her. She felt someone tap her shoulder and she turned around to see a gray squirrel or wolf she couldn't really tell because she was automatically captured in the depths of his gray eyes.

"May I have this dance?" He asked offering his hand to her. She smiled and nodded as she placed her hand in his and he led her to the dance floor. Bolt was still by the snack table gnawing on celery sticks as he watched Chrissy and Joseph angrily.

"Wow Bolt, I've never seen you so…wound up." Shawn commented as he leaned against the wall and watched Bolt chew on celery stick after celery stick.

"She seems so happy with Joseph." Bolt sneered his name before quickly taking another bite of celery.

"Didn't you come with a date?" Shawn asked as he looked around Bolt for a girl.

"She left saying something about not paying attention to her or something." Bolt mumbled while waving his hand dismissively. Shawn sighed and shook his head at his friend's behavior.

"Why don't you just cut in and ask her to dance?" He suggested as Bolt paused his celery chewing. Bolt tossed the celery stick away as he made his way towards Chrissy. "Idiot." He muttered.

"May I cut in?" Bolt asked as he tapped on Joseph's shoulder. Joseph nodded, but he glared at Bolt as he stepped away from Chrissy. Bolt put his hand on Chrissy's hip using his other hand to hold hers. "You look beautiful tonight." He said as they swayed gently to the music.

"You're not so bad yourself." She told him and he smiled. They continued to dance across the floor enjoying the comfortable silence between them and music. "So, what made you cut it?" Chrissy asked.

"Can't I dance with one of my best friends?" He said with a smile, but he hated that damn word…friend.

"Oh so now I'm one of your best friends?" Chrissy teased as Bolt smirked and nodded. The song sadly came to an end and Joseph walked back to Chrissy. "Thanks for the dance." Chrissy said somewhat sadly as Bolt nodded and walked away. He collapsed on a chair and watched as his crush danced with another boy.

"It'll be all right." Shawn said putting a hand on his shoulder. Bolt only nodded as he started to chew on celery again. Ebony was still dancing with her mystery man trying to find out who he was.

"Are you a junior?" She asked as he smiled.

"Maybe." He said as she rolled her eyes. She always asked him questions, but every time he said "Maybe" she consider it a yes.

"Are you in one of my classes?" She asked as he twirled her around.

"No." He said sadly as she thought back.

"Have I ever met you before?" She asked as he dropped her into a dip.

"Maybe." He smirked.

"Will you ever tell me who you are?" She asked looking into his eyes.

"Eventually." He said as he started to dance again. "Are you going to continue on with your twenty questions?" He asked as she giggled. Yes, Ebony giggled.

"Maybe." She mimicked him and he smiled. "How do you know me?" She asked.

"Through friends." He said shrugging his shoulders. She tried to think of a specific question that will be easier for her to find out who he is.

"Are your parents friends with my parents?" She asked.

"Yep." He smirked. Great! Now she has to look at all her parents' friends and see which one of their sons has gray eyes. That might take a while. Ginger was standing next to Julian talking. She was in a white strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline and a belt encrusted with silver jewels. Her mask was whiter with white feathers on the side. Julian was in a white tux and light blue tie.

"Still trying to find him?" Julian asked as he looked at Ginger who was searching the dance floor.

"No." She quickly said embarrassed. Julian snickered before someone caught his eye.

"Well I don't think you have to look any further." Julian said as he walked away and Ginger looked after him in confusion. Ginger turned around to see Derek walking over to her. He was in a black on black tux with a white tie and black mask.

"Hey Ginger." He greeted. "Would you like to dance?" He asked as he extended his hand.

"Sure." She said shyly as she placed his hand. He smiled as he led her to the dance floor.

"You look beautiful." He said as they twirled around.

"You too." She said as he raised an eyebrow. "I-I'm mean handsome." She quickly corrected. He laughed silently as she blushed. Lazarus was dancing with Tsunami when he saw them together. He smiled as he saw that Derek was finally going to have his chance to kiss her. Derek started to lean down towards Ginger as she raised her head. Lazarus saw AJ heading towards Derek and his eyes widened.

"Hold on Tusi." Lazarus said as he started to run over to AJ. AJ was close to Derek and Lazarus started running faster.

"Hey—"AJ began to say before he got tackled by Lazarus. Lazarus clamped his hand over his mouth and he looked over to Ginger and Derek. Ginger felt his cold lips on hers and she smiled into the kiss. Derek's lips and hers were perfectly in sync together and it was the best kissed they ever had. Lazarus sighed in relief as he saw them kiss. He got off AJ who got up and looked at him like he was crazy. "What the hell was that for?" AJ exclaimed throwing his hands in the air.

"You almost interrupted them and they've gone through it like three times!" Lazarus yelled as he pushed him away. Derek and Ginger were still kissing and holding each other in a loving embrace. Derek pulled away with a smile on his face.

"Finally." Ginger whispered as she leaned her head on his chest. Derek laughed as he wrapped his arms around her tightly.
