Disclaimer: Hello everyone, this story is back! Thank you all for your extreme patience and support. Some of you have asked me if I'm going to tie Ward's betrayal into the story, but in all honesty, I won't be. I had a story planned, and doing that would mess everything up. So if you feel badly about Ward, like I do at the moment, please try to read this without his betrayal in mind. SHIELD IS BACK IN A MONTH! WHOOOOOO YOU ALL EXCITED?

Ahem. I don't own any of the characters from SHIELD!

"Don't we have a ferry to catch?"
"Oh shite!"

...

"Shite!" Fitz exclaimed loudly as they rushed out of their room, throwing money at the man at the front desk and then proceeded to get stuck in the revolving doors.

"Shite, shite, shite, shite, shite!"

"Relax Leo, we'll make it!" Simmons' yelled back at him as she pushed him through, and ran through the streets of Split, desperately trying to find their way to the ferry. They ran hand in hand, when they discovered it was actually quite difficult, and opted to run with their hands at their sides instead. They ran in what seemed to be circles.

"Where in the bloody hell are we?" Simmons' shouted in frustration

The two of them were utterly lost. Split had winding roads, tiny little back alleys, and little hidden courtyards that made it next to impossible to navigate, especially being a tourist. The fact that they had drunkenly found their hotel last night and lost all sense of direction didn't help their current situation either. They had five minutes before the ferry left for the day and they could not miss it.

"If I just had the golden retrievers, we'd find it in a jiffy!" Fitz sighed in frustration.

They finally found a local that spoke some broken English, and they were on their way.

As they frantically ran to the pier, the man pulling up the anchor stopped and waved them over, "quick! Quick!"

They just made it onto the ferry as it was about to leave, and Fitz and Simmons slumped against each other the moment they arrived on board.

"Remind me to never get drunk the night before we have to catch an early ferry, ever again." Simmons' said with a bit of a smirk, and then moved her hand to her head, clearly in pain from the previously nights galavanting. "Ever again."

"Oh come here Jem," Fitz said as he curled her into his side, stroking her hair. 'Let's see if we can get a room on this ferry, yeah? Maybe we can get some sleep."

Luckily the ferry had a few rooms with vacancy, and they were fortunate enough to get one. Even though they were both exhausted and quite hungover from the previous night, they didn't get much sleep. Instead, they were making up for lost years, kissing passionately, arms and legs wrapped around one another, their bodies doing the talking.

Fitz's mouth travelled to Simmons' throat, where he had been placing tender kisses all the way down and was now lightly sucking on the hollow of her throat. Simmons couldn't stop the satisfied sigh from escaping her lips.

"Oh, Fitz," she let out in a slow drawl as his hand made it's way under her shirt and lightly caressed her stomach. He smiled against her skin.

"I haven't heard that name in a while," he said as he continued lightly sucking on her throat.

She giggled upon hearing that and opened her mouth, but found it quite difficult to talk. "It just—sort of —came out—-didn't think." she finished, with much difficulty, her body a deep flush.

Fitz smiled again, generally realizing he liked all the sounds Simmons was eliciting, especially since knowing he was doing it to her.

"I like it," he said huskily, as he moved her mouth back to hers.

Fitz's hand travelled down her body, his hand slowly leaving a trail of heat, and firmly gripped her thigh.

"Oh God, Fitz," Simmons sighed loudly, as she pulled him by the collar, even closer to her and wove her hand through his hair and lightly tugged on the ends.

"Shite Simmons," Fitz said against her mouth and their lips waged battle with one another.

When is was necessary to breath, Fitz pulled away and rested his forehead against Simmons', taking a breath before he spoke.

"God Jemma, why didn't we do this before?" he said, moving his head to rest on her chest. "I literally don't know how I controlled myself around you for all those years."

Simmons laughed upon hearing that, ruffled his hair slightly, and placed a kiss to his jaw. "I have no idea. But really, if we had gotten together during the Academy, I don't think we would have gotten much work done." she said with a twinkle in her eye, "I think we'd be busy doing what we're doing right now." she said as she pulled Fitz on top of her again.

"Well this I don't mind." he said in-between feather-like kisses. "I'd take you over engineering any day."

Simmons stared up at him in amazement before speaking. "How did I get such a perfect guy?" she asked in wonder.

He scoffed upon hearing this, but then replied, "How did I get the perfect woman?"

They smiled at each other, emotions now dancing freely between them.

"You already know this, but I've never believed in soul mates," she started, "but now I do. You literally know me better than myself. I now know it's so much more than just chemistry. You are the Fitz to my Simmons" she said with a smile.

Fitz didn't know what to say. He knew where Jemma stood on the whole soulmates, and love and chemistry topic, but she just downright threw her scientific opinion out the window, and all because of him. He was acutely aware that he probably had a dopey grin on his face, but was too shocked to fully notice. He tried opening and closing his mouth a few times but found no words coming out. Simmons' giggled at this and stroked his face.

"The feeling is mutual Jems. You're my other half." he finally managed to get out.

They shared another intimate stare, and connected their lips again, only to be interrupted by someone on the intercom.

"Would a Mr. and Mrs. Watson please report to the captains deck."

Simmons laughed, "Mr. and Mrs. Watson? I can't imagine the amount of teasing that poor man endured when he was a child."

Fitz looked at her sheepishly. "Dear, they're calling us. That's the name I signed our room under."

...

As they walked down the hallway to the captain's deck, they were having the age old argument.

"No, you would be Watson, you're the one that's a bloody Doctor for goodness sakes!"

"Yeah, but you can't be in the vicinity of blood without getting light-headed! Honestly, you would never even get close to a crime scene! There's no way you could be Sherlock!"

They bickered all the way up until they were near the captain's deck. There were crowds of people laughing and enjoying the beautiful ocean view with their families and loved ones.

A man bumped into them, almost knocking Fitz over.

"Hey!" Fitz said, raising his voice slightly, "watch where you're going, yeah?'

The man appeared not even ruffled, "Oh yeah, sorry."

Fitz was momentarily upset, until Simmons wove her hand into his. "Come on, let's go."

They made their way to the captain's deck and Fitz stepped up to introduce themselves.

"Hello, we're Mr. and Mrs. um—Watson"

The captain let out a slight sound of amusement upon hearing their name. "Your names aren't John and Mary by chance, are they?"

Fitz did his best to look agitated, even though all he wanted to do was laugh. In all honesty, if he were asked that question every time he met someone, he'd be livid.

"Funny, haven't heard that one before!" he said with a touch of sarcasm, and a touch of humour… the perfect amount. He was born to do this, he thought, as the captain gave him and Jemma the once over, making him feel a bit like James Bond.

"Is there a particular reason we've been called up here?" Simmons asked politely, taking control of the conversation.

"Why yes," the captain said, "There was a man looking for you, where is he?" the captain looked around, but no one was in the general area. "That's odd. He was right here. Said it was important, said he needed to give you something, said he knew you and had a present for you. It would make you so happy that you might explode with joy."

"Explode with joy?" Simmons asked.

"His words, not mine," The captain said cheerfully. "Kind of odd fellow, seemed very rushed."

"Explode with joy…That doesn't make any sen…" Simmons started, but stopped mid-sentence and all the colour drained from her face.

She quickly recovered, and looked at the Captain. "Thank you sir, we'll figure it out," she said, and promptly dragged Fitz away and down the hall.

"Ow Jems! What are you doing? What's going on?" he said as she awkwardly pulled him away from the captain.

"Explode from joy? Leo, what does that mean?" she said frantically.

"umm…Jem, I'm missing the inside joke here. What's going on?" he said, clearly confused.

"Leo, EXPLODE. There's a bomb on the ferry and I bet it's one of Sharon's men!" she practically shouted. "What do we do? What do we do? We're all trapped. Us, all these people. No… no, why is this happening?"

Fitz stood there in complete and utter shock as the truth of what Jemma said, dawned on him.

"No, not more of this shit!" he yelled, putting his head in his hands. "Why, why is this happening?" he said, panic and hysteria starting to set in. "I can't take this anymore!"

Simmons grabbed his hands, "We need to fix this. Let's fix this."

Her words centred Fitz, bringing him to the present, with less panic and anxiety. "Ok, first thing's first. We need to find it. Let's find this thing."

They looked everywhere they could think of. They couldn't check all the rooms, so instead, scoured every public part of the ship, to no avail. They wanted to bring the new information to light, but if the entire ship found out, it would be mass hysteria.

"It could literally be anywhere. This is a nightmare," she said, as she hugged Fitz. She had just gotten used to the idea of being with him. Now the possibility of neither of them seeing tomorrow…well…there weren't any words for that.

"Shhhh Jem, shhh, It'll be ok, you'll see." Fitz said, whispering in her ear, and stroked her hair as they leaned against the railing, looking into the water below. They were close, they could see land now, which probably meant they had less than an hours worth of trip.

"I just…feel so helpless. I wish there was something I could do. But now it's just like we're waiting for the inevitable." she said, burrowing her body against him further.

"Wait a sec," Fitz said, jumping up, "What did the captain say? The guy wanted to give us a present? Some guy ran into me, didn't he come from the direction of the captain's deck? The captain said the man was in a rush!"

"Maybe it's him!" Simmons jumped up too, pacing now. "Wait a sec…Leo. He ran into you. Did he…." she paused for a moment before saying, "…put something on you?"

"Put something on me? Like what? Like….oh. You think I would feel it though, wouldn't I?" he said as he searched the pockets of his sweater. "I don't think…." and he froze.

"Shite. You were right Jem. How did I not notice this before?" He said as he kept his hand firmly in place, a look of horror clearly placed across his features.

"Lots of commotion." she said quietly. "Go on then, let's see it."

"No Jemma, you need to back away—"

"Don't you bloody DARE Leo Fitz. I will not be leaving you, don't go on like you need to be the bloody hero all the bloody time!" she yelled, but touched his hands with surprising softness, pulling his hand from out of his pocket.

Sure enough, it was an explosive device. A small one, but an explosive nonetheless, and on a ferry, it could do some particularly nasty damage, especially to Fitz, who was holding it in his hand. Fitz was mortified beyond belief, but at the current moment, more worried for Jemma than himself.

"What do we do with it?" Simmons asked, terrified, wanting to get it away from her Fitz as soon as possible.

Fitz's eyes were frozen on the device. "The water would be best. If we're lucky, it'll sink, and the water should absorb some of the shock of the explosion."

"Do it then Leo. We can't waste any more time. We need to get it off this ferry and away from us and all these people. It could explode at any minute."

He centred his eyes on her, firmly pressed his lips to her, and threw the explosive as hard as he could towards the water.

For a few moments it seemed like everything would be ok, and they shared wide smiles.

The next moment, they were blown off their feet.
