December arrived at CMHS along with the excitement over Winter Formal. Luna was sitting in the parking lot waiting for Lauren. She couldn't catch a ride with anyone else so Luna offered to pick her up since Shawn had baseball practice and Ginger was with Derek. She noticed a big sign advertising Winter Formal in about two weeks and smiled.
"Your guys' Winter Dance is coming up?" Luna asked as Lauren got into the car.
"It's called Formal, Mom." Lauren corrected and Luna laughed.
"Who are you planning to go with?" Luna asked as Lauren smiled.
"Hydro." She told her and Luna's eyes widened.
"Static's and Midnight's son?" She asked as Lauren nodded. 'Whoa, how did I miss that?' Luna thought as Lauren laughed.
"You should keep a better eye on me then." Lauren grinned and Luna rolled her eyes.
AJ was walking down the halls and to his locker to get some books. He stopped when he saw Amber standing in front of his locker looking down at her feet. He was surprised to see her standing there and just stood in shock and stared at her.
"Do you like her?" Amber asked in a quiet voice.
"What?" He asked confused by what she meant.
"Do you like her? Alana?" She asked again and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Why would you think that?" He asked.
"I always see you two together and you seem so happy around her." She mumbled before wrapping her arms around herself. She slide down the lockers and onto the ground and AJ frowned. He moved to sit next to her, but didn't say anything right away.
"What happened to Trent?" AJ asked after a while.
"Did you really believed I liked him?" Amber asked letting out a humorless laugh.
"It seemed liked it. Do you even believe me when I say Alana and I are not even together and I don't like her?" AJ asked.
"Probably not, but I want to." She mumbled.
"She likes a guy named Renegade and I don't like her that way. We're just friends. I like someone else." AJ told her looking into her eyes. He reached out and grabbed her hand and held it in his. "It's you. It always has been and always will." He said as smiled at him with watery eyes. He slowly leaned in and kissed her. Amber smiled and kissed him back while he moved one of his hands to her face.
"I'm sorry AJ." She told him when they pulled away. "For everything." She said as AJ nodded.
"It's better late than never." He smiled.
"Yes! You're finally together!" Topaz cheered as Onyx skated by with Topaz on his back. AJ rolled his eyes and Amber laughed. AJ was driving Amber home when Amber and AJ's both dinged with a message. Amber checked both their phones and they both had the same message from Bolt.
Everybody's supposed to come to my house. Our parents have something to tell us.
"What do you think they're going to tell us?" Amber asked as AJ shrugged his shoulders and headed over to Bolt's house. They walked into the Solari house and saw all the kids sitting in the living room together. They moved to sit down when all the parents walked into the room.
"What's going on?" AJ asked as he looked over to his parents.
"It has come to our attention that all of you are in relationships now." James said and everybody's eyes widened.
"Hey! Not everybody!" Julian exclaimed and Serenity rolled her eyes. All the children started stuttering, trying to make excused and Todd rolled his eyes.
"Save it! We all know!" Todd shouted and everybody stopped talking.
"Anyways, since tomorrow is Saturday, Spark and I decided to have a barbecue." Winter explained and they all stared at her confused.
"So, we can meet all your significant others personally." Amy said and everybody groaned.
"But you know them already." Topaz said. The good majority of them were dating within the group of children and while all the children didn't really know each other, the parents knew all the children.
"Not as your boyfriend." Silver muttered eyeing Onyx. Everybody groaned and complained, but the parents were having none of it.
"You guys are literally the worst group of parents ever." Lauren mumbled.
"Phase One of Mission: Embarrass the Kids is complete!" Todd exclaimed and AJ and Suzy smacked their foreheads. The parents all walked out of the room talking about tomorrow while the kids all had a mild freak out about tomorrow.
"Tomorrow is going to be the worst." Serenity muttered as everybody nodded. Much to everyone's displeasure, Saturday arrived a lot quicker than they wanted. Suzy was pacing her room nervously while her family got ready to leave. Ivy was over, having spent the night, and felt a slight sense of déjà vu as she watched Suzy pace her room.
"Suzy, would you calm down?" Ivy asked sitting on her bed. "Your parents love Shade." She said as Suzy stopped pacing and faced Ivy.
"It's not them that I'm worried about, it's AJ! He's definitely going to find out and he's going to get pissed." Suzy told her and started to pace again.
"Well, if your parents give their approval than AJ can't really do anything about you guys." Ivy shrugged and Suzy collapsed onto her bed.
"I can only hope." She muttered against her pillow.
"C'mon, we have to finish getting ready." Ivy told her and Suzy sighed. Everybody arrived to the barbecue around the same time and Spark, Static, and Sonic were all fighting over the grill while Rebecca tried to break it up.
"Spark grill the burgers, Static the hot dogs, and Sonic the tri tip. Got it?" Rebecca told them and they all looked at each other before nodding. Winter and Amy shook their heads at them before looking over to where the kids were.
"Let meeting of the parents commence." Winter said to Amy who chuckled. Derek was standing by a tree having a conversation with Ginger. Lazarus was suddenly hanging upside down between them and they stared at him confused.
"Derek, introduce yourself to Reese and Luna." Lazarus told him and Derek just stared at him.
"Um, he has already kind of met my parents." Ginger told him.
"C'mon guys! No one is brave enough to go first and you guys have been dating the longest!" Lazarus explained.
"Technically Tyler and Liecy have been dating the longest." Derek muttered.
"Please, just do it." Lazarus pleaded.
"Are you really that nervous to meet Static?" Derek asked.
"Did you not see what he did at that party when he thought someone was making out with Tsunami? He's going to murder me." Lazarus said and Derek rolled his eyes.
"Fine, fine, we'll go. But tell everyone else to suck it up." He told him before taking Ginger's hand into his and walking over to Reese and Luna.
"Dad, Mom, this is Derek, my boyfriend." Ginger introduced while Reese and Luna looked at them amused.
'So no one else wanted to go first, huh?' Reese said into Derek's mind and Derek rolled his eyes.
'I don't understand why we were voted to go first, but yeah, everyone else didn't want to go first.' Derek explained and Reese chuckled.
'I was expecting to meet Hydro and Ruby, but I guess you'll do.' Reese told him and Derek snorted.
"Reese?" Luna said.
"Derek?" Ginger said and they both snapped back into reality and looked at Luna and Ginger.
"Oh, sorry." They both muttered.
"Telepathic communication?" Luna guessed and Reese chuckled before kissing her cheek.
"He's a good guy. I'm proud of you, Ginger." Reese told her and Ginger smiled. "Now tell everyone else to suck it up and go introduce themselves!" He said and Derek chuckled. Lazarus was leaning against the tree now, trying to keep himself calm.
"Lazi?" Tsunami asked startling him. "Are you okay?" She asked.
"Of course I'm okay. Why wouldn't I be okay? I'm perfectly okay." He blurted out and Tsunami raised her eyebrow.
"Nervous to meet my parents?" She asked as Lazarus sighed and nodded. "Don't worry you'll be fine." Tsunami told him taking his hand into hers.
"How do you know? You're not Reese's daughter." He muttered and Tsunami rolled her eyes before dragging him to Midnight and Static. "Mom, Dad this is Lazarus, my boyfriend." Tsunami introduced and Midnight squealed.
"It's so nice to meet you! I've always wanted to meet my daughter's boyfriend and now I am! I knew she had good taste! You two are so incredibly cute!" Midnight gushed shaking Lazarus' hand while Tsunami put her hand over her eyes trying to hide from the embarrassment. "Static don't just stand there! Say something." Midnight chastised.
"It's really nice to meet you, Mr. Storm." Lazarus said offering his hand. Static crossed his arms and glared at Lazarus. Lazarus let his hand drop awkwardly and Tsunami glared at her dad.
"Tsunami says you're pretty quick." Static said and Lazarus nodded. "Hmm." He murmured sounding very unimpressed. Static walked away while Midnight and Tsunami stared after him outraged. "Think fast!" Static exclaimed whipping around and throwing a ball of electricity towards Lazarus. Lazarus pushed Tsunami and Midnight away before leaning back and watch the ball go right passed him. Spark caught it and dismissed the electricity before going back and focusing on grilling. "Not bad." Static grinned walking back.
"Thanks." Lazarus smiled while Midnight and Tsunami shook their heads.
"You'll take care of her, right?" Static asked and Lazarus nodded. Static nodded and looked over to Tsunami with a sad smile. He hugged her tightly and kissed her head before letting her go with Lazarus. Midnight and Static walked back over to Spark and Winter and Spark looked over to his brother.
"Are you crying?" He asked as Static rubbed his eyes.
"No! It's all your damn plants here! Why don't you get off your lazy ass and do some gardening 'round here." Static scoffed and Spark snorted. Midnight kissed him on the cheek and he sighed. Bolt held Chrissy's and walked on over towards Tails and Cream.
"Hey Bolt!" Cream grinned and Tails smiled brightly.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Prower." He greeted and Tails and Cream laughed.
"You don't have to be so formal, Bolt. I've known you since you were in diapers. You're a good kid. I know you'll took good care of Chrissy." Tails told him and Bolt let out a sigh of relief before smiling.
"Thanks Tails. You have no idea how nervous I was. I thought you were going to kill me like my Dad is to Hailey's boyfriend." Bolt said as Tails laughed.
"It's because I have the smarts." Tails smirked. Bolt laughed as he wrapped his arm around Chrissy.
"At least it didn't skip a generation." He said looking at Chrissy who blushed a bit.
"BOLT!" Winter called out as Bolt turned around.
"Excuse me, for a second." He said before he kissed Chrissy on the cheek and walked off to meet his mother.
"He's perfect for you." Tails told her. Chrissy looked up at her dad and smiled.
"I wouldn't have thought that in the beginning." Chrissy muttered.
"I knew all along. You're just stubborn like your dad." Tails said wrapping his arms around her shoulders.
"How'd you know?" She asked.
"I could tell when you were babies. He would always try to help you. Trying to be your hero, I guess." Tails shrugged and Chrissy smiled.
"You're the best Dad." Chrissy said hugging her father.
"You'll always be my little Chrissy-Bear, you know?" He told her and Chrissy chuckled at her baby name. "Go help Bolt. I think Spark might have burned something." Tails told her and she walked off. Cream wrapped her arms around Tails' waist and smiled.
"She's right." Cream told him. "You're the best father and husband." Cream said as Tails smiled and kissed his wife lovingly.
"Julian how come you don't get a girlfriend?" Jillian asked her son.
"Mom you know me. I can't take this off the market." He said waving his arms in front of him as Jillian rolled her eyes. "Plus, it's to avoid this very thing right now. Dad handed down the 'bad with mothers' gene to me." He said as Jillian laughed.
"Grandma likes him." Jillian said as Julian rolled his eyes.
"Sure…keep on saying that." Julian said walking over to Serenity. Suzy was taking deep breaths as she held Shade's hand and looked at her parents.
"It will be all right." Shade whispered in her ear. Suzy nodded and started walking over to her parents.
"Mom, Dad this is Shade, my boyfriend." Suzy said when all of a sudden a scream could be heard.
"What?" AJ yelled as Suzy sighed. "You two were dating and didn't tell me?" He asked appearing beside them.
"What's wrong, Aaron?" Jillian asked.
"Why would you let her go out with Shade?" AJ whined.
"What's wrong with him?" Todd asked looking at Shade.
"He…and that one time…but…Dad!" AJ exclaimed as Todd rolled his eyes.
"Suck it up, AJ. Your baby sister has a boyfriend. If I can deal with it, you can." Todd told him AJ's shoulders slumped over and he walked away. Suzy exhaled heavily. She hadn't realize she wasn't breathing. "So, Shade how's the Chaos powers going?" Todd asked putting his arm around Shade's shoulders as they started to walk and talk.
"He's easily welcomed. Your Dad likes him." Jillian said to Suzy.
"Really?" Suzy asked her mother.
"Of course. When he found out you two were dating he kept rubbing it in Shadow's face." Jillian said as she and Suzy laughed. Jillian remembered that day perfectly.
Flashback
Todd busted into Amy and Shadow's house with Jillian right behind him.
"Oh Shadow!" Todd called out as Shadow came downstairs.
"What?" Shadow asked.
"Guess what's happening right now." Todd grinned as Shadow raised an eyebrow.
"What?" He asked as Todd smiled brightly.
"Our kids are on a date!" He yelled and Shadow's eyes narrowed.
"Which kids?" He asked.
"Suzy and Shade!" He smiled and Shadow's mouth dropped. "That's right Suzy and Shade are going out! They'll get married and we'll be in laws! How great would that be?" Todd exclaimed and Shadow walked into the kitchen.
"Amy! Where's my Chaos Emerald? I need to find Shade and stop him from marrying Suzy. I refuse to be related to Todd!" Shadow shouted.
End of Flashback
When Shade and Todd returned, they were quickly pushed out of the way by AJ. Suzy glared at her brother and he just stuck his tongue out at her. Shade chuckled as Suzy huffed and grabbed his hand before dragging him away. AJ turned and smiled at his parents before reaching over and pulling Amber beside him.
"Mom, Dad, meet my beautiful, incredible, totally fantastic girlfriend!" AJ smiled and wrapping his arm around Amber's waist.
"Hi Todd and Jillian. You already know me, but I guess since I'm dating him now that I should introduce myself again?" Amber shrugged and Todd and Jillian laughed.
"It's nice to hear that you two are dating. I can't imagine anyone better for AJ. I don't think anyone else would be able to keep up!" Todd chuckled and AJ rolled his eyes.
"Take it from me," Jillian smiled. "You're going to have to learn to say no to a lot of his ideas." She said and Amber laughed.
"Not a problem." Amber smiled.
"But babe…" AJ whined and Amber looked over at him with a raised eyebrow. AJ pouted making his parents laugh.
"I think she has a handle on this." Jillian told Todd and he smiled at her. Serenity finished meeting Alchemy and Jerry and she and Conner moved towards Shadow and Amy.
"You ready?" Serenity asked Conner as Conner smiled brightly.
"More than ever." He said as he pointed his camera at Serenity who laughed.
"You're not going to film this are you?" Serenity asked.
"Of course, this could be the last documentation of my life." Conner smirked and Serenity rolled her eyes.
"Dad, Mom you know Conner, my boyfriend." She said as Conner smiled at them one hand around Serenity's waist the other holding his camera. If you'd ask Serenity though, this was a little redundant since her dad knew Conner was her boyfriend and
"Conner! I knew you two would be together." Amy said and Shadow groaned. "Don't mind him. He's really over protective. He even tried to break you two apart when you were babies." Amy said as Shadow crossed his arms.
"You're acting like I don't like Conner." Shadow said as Amy rolled her eyes.
"Do you?" She asked with a hand on her hip.
"Of course, he's the best defensive player we have." Shadow said as Conner laughed.
"I'm not all that good." He said as Shadow rolled his eyes.
"I swear you're like your father. Modest. There's no harm in being cocky every once a while." Shadow said as Amy looked at him.
"When are you going to stop?" Amy asked as Serenity laughed.
"Do I look blue to you?" He asked obviously referring to Sonic as Amy laughed. Conner, Serenity, Shadow, and Amy continued to talk as Ivy pulled Flash along towards Sonic and Rebecca.
"Come on Flash you know my Dad loves you!" Ivy said as Flash smiled at her indulgently. "Daddy, Mom!" She called out as they both turned around.
"Flash!" Sonic exclaimed swinging his arm around the Flash's shoulders. "I've always wanted you dating my daughter." He smirked.
"Really?" Flash asked surprised.
"It's true, ever since Amy suggested the idea of you two dating he couldn't get it out of his head. He even told me if you two weren't together by your junior year he'll personally force you." Rebecca said and Ivy blushed.
"No need to blush Ivy." Sonic said as Ivy blushed even more.
"Yeah, you always knew your dad was an embarrassment. Why are you surprised?" Flash joked and Sonic and Rebecca laughed.
"Not afraid of making fun of the parent I see." Sonic smirked as Rebecca laughed. "So, I hear you have a pretty big appetite." Sonic said as they walked over to the table with food.
"Yup, I don't where I got it from." Flash said patting his stomach.
"Well, I don't know if Ivy told you, but I'm a pretty fast and big eater too. Do you think you can beat me in a chili dog eating contest?" Sonic challenged.
"Bring it on." Flash smirked as Sonic walked behind the table.
"The first to finish ten wins." Sonic said as Ivy stood in the middle not really sure who to cheer for. "Go!" Sonic called out as they started stuffing their faces.
"You're going to want to get that shot." Amy told Conner and he and Serenity walked over to the eating contest. Brice was busying himself by eating and going back for seconds repeatedly. Nicole walked over to him and pushed his plate away from him.
"C'mon Brice, it's now or never." Nicole told him and he pouted.
"Your dad already gave me crap, why do I have to do it again?" Brice muttered and Nicole rolled her eyes. Nicole held his hand and walked them over to Elijah and Arielle.
"Mom, Dad, you know Brice." Nicole smiled as Brice nervously smiled over at them. Arielle laughed lightly as she looked at Brice.
"He was just like you when you met my parents." Arielle said as Elijah looked at her is disbelief. "Oh c'mon! You were so nervous about meeting them and you acted the same way." Arielle said and Elijah glared at her.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Elijah huffed.
"Don't worry about him. He's just a little upset that he couldn't be the tough dad." Arielle told Brice and Elijah glared at his wife again.
"Trust me, he's pretty tough. Those push ups weren't easy." Brice said and Elijah smirked. They all continued to talk as Shawn walked over to Knuckles and Rouge with Ruby.
"Mom, Dad this is Shawn." Ruby introduced while Rouge smiled and Knuckles glared.
"Hi Shawn. I knew my little Ruby had taste, but you're just too cute for words." Rouge told him patting his cheek while Ruby rolled her eyes.
"Don't encourage them." Knuckles hissed and Rouge rolled her eyes. Shawn looked at Knuckles nervously as he crossed his massive arms.
"Dad, would you please lay off?" Ruby asked, but Knuckles continued to glare at Shawn.
"Listen here, Shawn. I love my daughter and she's my only daughter. If you break her heart expect that pretty face of yours to be broken too." Knuckles threatened as Ruby and Rouge sighed.
"You think I'm pretty?" Shawn asked trying to lighten the mood. Ruby held in her laughter while Rouge laughed openly.
"I'm watching you." Knuckles scowled and Shawn nodded. Rouge and Knuckles walked away and Shawn almost fainted. Lauren walked slowly over to her parents with Hydro by her side.
"You know, I think a snail just past us." Hydro joked as Lauren rolled her eyes. "There's no need to be nervous, Reese likes me." He told her and Lauren exhaled slowly.
"Dad, Mom this is Hydro. You know, my boyfriend." Lauren smiled. Luna smiled back, but Reese grabbed Hydro by the collar of his shirt causing Lauren to gasp. Hydro only smirked and grabbed Reese's wrist before twisting his arms behind his back while Luna and Hydro stared in confusion.
"You finally learned." Reese smirked as Hydro laughed and let him go.
"Had a pretty good teacher." Hydro shrugged.
'What the hell was that?' Lauren asked inside Hydro's mind.
'Just something we've been working on in Power Practice.' Hydro told her and she shook her head.
"I see you got use to the telepathy thing." Reese commented and Lauren smiled softly. She leaned on his shoulder as Reese looked between both of them and sighed. "You'll take good care of her right?" Reese asked.
"Beyond what is needed." Hydro replied as Reese smiled.
"She's quite the handful." He said and Lauren glared at him.
"Trust me," Hydro laughed. "I know." He smiled and looked at Lauren who smiled back.
"Why don't we all grab some food?" Luna suggested and Hydro readily agreed. They both walked off, but Reese stopped Lauren from following them.
"Dad what's wrong?" She asked.
'You know I love you, right?' Reese thought and Lauren smiled.
'I know, Dad. I love you too.' She told him before hugging him tightly. Lorgo walked in from the side gate and Hailey immediately jumped into his arms having not seen him for three weeks.
"I've missed you!" She told him and Lorgo chuckled.
"I did too. So where's your parents?" He asked and Hailey bit her lip nervously. She pulled him over to where Spark and Winter were and when Spark noticed him he quickly ran over to him and grabbed him by his collar.
"What do you think you're doing with my daughter?" He yelled as Winter slapped her forehead.
"Uh…dating her?" Lorgo said and Spark glared at him. Suddenly Spark was shocked and he fell to the ground releasing Lorgo.
"Hailey Marie Solari!" Spark exclaimed as he looked at his daughter in outrage.
"You were threatening him for no reason!" Hailey shouted back at him.
"You're only fourteen! You shouldn't have a boyfriend!" Spark argued back getting back on his feet.
"Oh yeah? When did you meet mom?" She asked and Spark scowled.
"Okay, will you two stop? Spark, Hailey has a point. We met when we were fourteen and started dating then. We'd be hypocrites if we told her she couldn't have a boyfriend now." Winter explained stepping in between her husband and daughter.
"I have a reason! I'm her father!" Spark exclaimed as Hailey rolled her eyes and Spark gasped. "She just rolled her eyes at me!" He shouted and Winter glared at him. "Fine! You can date him, I guess." He pouted. "But, if I ever see her coming home crying or pregnant expect a visit from me and Bolt." He glared at Lorgo.
"You're damn right, Dad!" Bolt yelled from across the yard and Hailey sighed. Her family was crazy. Lorgo simply nodded before Winter thanked him for coming and he and Hailey walked off.
"Are you okay?" Hailey asked nervously.
"Please tell me that your Dad isn't that weak." Lorgo smirked and Hailey laughed.
"Hate to break it to ya kid, but it's true." Static told him as he passed by with Shadow and they all laughed.
"Are you sure you want to do this? We can get away with it." Ebony asked Andrew as he just smiled.
"I'll be fine, don't worry." Andrew told her as they walked over to Shadow and Ebony.
"Hi Andrew! How's everything?" Amy asked cheerfully as Shadow crossed his arms.
"Good, I'm actually almost done with this project I've been working on." Andrew told her and she smiled. Ebony wasn't paying attention to the conversation just her father because he was just staring at Andrew.
"Dad, are you going to say something?" Ebony asked. Shadow sighed and glanced at his youngest daughter once before turning to look at Andrew.
"Andrew," Shadow paused. "Please don't let her control you." He said as Ebony's mouth dropped. Andrew couldn't help but laugh and Ebony slapped him his arm. Amy crossed her arms and glared at her husband. "What? She got it from you. It's only fair to warn him." He shrugged and Amy rolled her eyes. Everything went well as everybody else met the parents except for Todd who found out Juliana had a boyfriend at school. Let's just say Juliana had to be taken away from the scene.
