School was back in session with the end of Winter Break and the start of a whole new year. Some students were happy to be back while the majority were wishing for Winter Break again. The Girls' Soccer Team was excited though because their first game was this week. Similar to the Homecoming game, they were playing a school with students that didn't have any powers. So they were required to wear the inhibitor bracelets to block their powers to use as an advantage. Onyx and Tyler skated up to the bleachers and made sure to get good seats for the game.
"Excited to see Topaz play?" Tyler asked as they sat down at center field.
"Of course. She'll do great." Onyx smiled. All the girls were still in the locker room, getting ready for the game.
"I can't wait to beat Cassandra's ass again." Serenity smirked snapping her bracelet onto her wrist.
"Who's Cassandra?" Tsunami asked.
"This girl that thinks she's so badass. I absolutely hate her." Serenity scowled.
"Well, I doubt she'll get past you." Topaz told her and Nicole laughed knowing Serenity was a force to be reckoned with. They ran out onto the field and began their warm-ups. The other team soon came onto the field with an orange hedgehog leading them. She had dark blue and green eyes and her quills were a mass of curls currently pulled back into a ponytail.
"That's Cassandra." Serenity told Tsunami once they ended their warm-up. They got into their positions to start the game and Serenity stood in the center with Cassandra standing across from her.
"Hello Serenity." Cassandra smiled condescendingly.
"Hey loser." Serenity smirked.
"Ha! We'll see about that." Cassandra glared. The referee walked up with the coin in his hand.
"Tornadoes call it." The referee said before flipping the coin.
"Heads." Serenity said glaring at Cassandra.
"Tails. Knights kick off first." He said and Cassandra smiled triumphantly.
"Get acquainted with the ground now because your fat ass is going to be all over it." Cassandra told her and Serenity growled. She wanted to rip of her bracelet right now and Chaos Blast her ass back to Oregon. The referee blew the whistle and Cassandra took off with the ball and dribbled circles around the other players. Tsunami side-tackled her and Serenity got the ball and blazed down the field. She passed to another player and she scored. The game went on with Nicole scoring three goals and Serenity scoring three more. Unfortunately, Cassandra made five goals and assisted in scoring two. The score was 7-7 with the game almost over.
The game only had one minute left and Serenity was doing everything she could to stop Cassandra from scoring. Tsunami looked behind her to see that the defense was solid for their side so she ran over got in between Cassandra and Serenity. Cassandra became distracted and Tsunami kicked the ball away from her and backwards towards Serenity. She got in Cassandra's way as Serenity tore down the field pass the Knights' defenses. She kicked the ball towards Nicole and Nicole knocked the ball in using her head and passed the goalie. The whistle blew ending the game with a victory for the Tornadoes. The rest of the team rushed to the field and cheered for their time while Cassandra grabbed her bag and smirked.
"Enjoy your time now because it won't last long." Cassandra smirked before walking over to familiar red and black hedgehog. "Let's go Razor." She said as he wrapped his arm around her waist and they disappeared in a flash of black. Alana and Renegade were sitting on the bleachers and Renegade's eyes narrowed his eyes when he saw that girl from the other team leave with Razor. What was he doing here?
"Pretty exciting game, huh?" Alana said and Renegade turned towards her.
"Yeah," Renegade nodded before they made their way down the bleachers. Lauren walked up to them with Hydro behind her.
"Hey you guys, everybody's going to the Storms' house to celebrate, want to come?" Lauren asked as Alana looked over to Renegade. He shrugged his shoulders and Alana smiled.
"Sure." Alana said. Lauren gave Renegade directions to the Storm house and they all drove over there. Once the four of them arrived, they heard loud arguing inside and Hydro and Lauren sighed.
"What's going on?" Renegade asked looking over to Hydro and Lauren.
"Our dads are most likely going to do something stupid." Hydro muttered as he opened the door to his house and like he assumed Static, Spark, Shadow, Todd, and Reese were all arguing.
"What's going on?" Lauren shouted over the arguing.
"He said he's the better father!" They all shouted pointing to each other.
"Uh…well, this is new." Hydro muttered looking between all the dads.
"Ask Hydro! He'll tell you that I'm the best Dad." Static said pointing at his son and Reese scoffed.
"Ask Lauren!" Reese exclaimed and Static rolled his eyes.
"Well you can't really ask them since their biased." Alana said as they all crossed their arms.
"Why don't you guys switch children?" Renegade shrugged as Lauren and Hydro whipped their heads towards Renegade.
"What?" Lauren and Hydro hissed.
"That's not a bad idea." Static said as Hydro looked at the group of dads.
"No…" Hydro whispered in horror.
"I think it could work." Reese nodded.
"Please don't…" Lauren pleaded as Shadow put his hands in front of him.
"No way. I'm not taking a chance at getting all of Todd's kids." Shadow said shaking his head as Lauren and Hydro sighed in relief.
"Fine! That will make it easier. Reese and I will switch kids and Static and Spark will switch kids." Todd smiling and Hydro and Lauren turned to glare at Renegade.
"Hey guys we're home!" Tsunami called out arriving with everybody behind her. "What's going on?" She asked looking at a pissed off Lauren and Hydro and a group of smiling dads.
"You guys are switching families!" Alana exclaimed trying to sound enthusiastic. Tsunami, Flash, Ginger, Shawn, Bolt, Hailey, Julian, AJ, and Suzy's mouth all dropped while the rest of the children laughed.
"Whose idea was that?" Brice asked wiping a tear from his eye.
"Renegade's." Hydro muttered as the ones going through the switch glared at him.
"Look man, I know you're new, but know when to keep your mouth shut." Julian told him and Renegade sighed.
"Noted." Renegade mumbled and Alana sent waves of calmness to him. "Thanks." He said smiling.
"When does this start and who are our new parents?" Flash asked as Spark smirked.
"That would be me. All the Storms become my kids, the Solaris become Static's kids, the Romaros go with the Todd, and the Hedgehogs go with Reese starting tomorrow morning." Spark said as all the kids groaned.
"It won't be that bad." Todd said as Julian sighed.
"Yeah, that bad." Julian said as Todd rolled his eyes. "How long is this going to last?" He asked.
"One week." Reese said as they all groaned again.
"Does Mom know about this?" Bolt asked as all the kids got a tiny ray of hope.
"Nope, but we know she'll be okay with it." Spark waved dismissively as their one ray of hope turned into a dark cloud of despair.
"This is worse than that whole parents meeting boyfriend/girlfriend thing." Suzy muttered as Shade wrapped his arm around her shoulders. Morning came a little too quick to everybody's liking and they all packed their bags and went over to their temporary house.
"Daddy I don't want to go!" Juliana cried clinging onto Todd's leg. She had tears in her eyes and was sobbing into his leg.
"It'll be okay Julie, You'll see Daddy sooner than you think." Todd told her bending down to her level. She wiped her nose with her sleeve and hugged her Dad as tight as she could. Todd hugged her back and he lifted her up and carried her to the car. Julian was driving Suzy and AJ there as Todd and Jillian took the rest of the kids in Todd's car. Jillian felt a pull on her jeans and she looked down to see Alex looking up to her.
"Do we have to go Mommy?" Alex asked in his quiet voice.
"I'm sorry baby, but you'll have fun at Reese and Luna's. I promise to call everyday and visit you as much as possible." Jillian promised as she held Alex's hand. "Promise me you'll be good and listen to everything Reese and Luna tell you." Jillian said as they walked out the door.
"I promise." He said as he got into the backseat. Jillian buckled up baby Alena in her car seat.
"Do you think we can avoid it?" AJ asked as Suzy shook her head.
"No they're right behind us." Suzy mumbled as AJ groaned. They saw the Romaro kids pass by in Shawn's Range Rover with the same look on their faces. They pulled up to the Romaro House and parked in the driveway. Todd carried Juliana out as Jillian carried Alena and held Alex's hand. They all said goodbye to their parents and walked into the house where Reese and Luna were quick to greet them.
"So what do we do?" Julian asked as Luna took the younger kids into the living room.
"I doubt you guys even want to stay here. Besides it's Saturday. Saturday is the day to hang out with friends. Sunday is the day with the family. Go out. Hang out with your friends." Reese said as they all looked at him in shock. It's not like Todd never let them out, but they expected Reese to make them spend time with him. "Close those mouths and Julian make sure you give Suzy a ride." He told them.
"Yes!" AJ exclaimed when he saw his motorcycle parked in the driveway. He automatically got on it and drove off to Amber's house.
"When did he—"Suzy started to say, but Julian shook his head.
"I'm not even going to ask." Julian muttered getting into his car. At the Solari House, Tsunami, Hydro, and Flash all arrived as they watched Bolt and Hailey leave.
"Hey Wi—"Tsunami started to say, but was quickly cut off by Winter grabbing all of their hands and pulling them to her car.
"Hey! We're all going to the mall to get you new outfits!" Winter smiled as she pushed Hydro in the front seat and Flash and Tsunami in the back.
"What's wrong with our clothes?" Flash muttered looking down at his outfit.
"Nothing. I think you just need a new style." Winter smiled as she drove to the mall. "C'mon let's go!" She exclaimed once she parked outside the mall.
"I'm up for new clothes, but Winter is another story." Tsunami whispered to Hydro who nodded agreeing. The first stop was Hydro. Hydro stared at himself in the mirror actually impressed with the outfit he currently had on. He was wearing a fitted dark blue button-up, that was buttoned up all the way to the top and the sleeves were rolled up to his elbows with a blue and white checkered detailing on the cuff. He had a more fitted pair of dark gray jeans unlike the loose one he usually wore. He had all black low-top Converse and he smiled slightly looking at himself. He also had a black leather, bomber jacket, but wasn't currently wearing it.
"And to finish off the look," Winter smiled pulling out a pair of black wayfarer sunglasses and a leather cuff.
"I'm not really into wearing sunglasses and cuffs." Hydro told her and Winter rolled her eyes.
"They're special sunglasses. It has x-ray vision, night vision, and waterproof so you don't have to worry about them getting ruined when you're swimming around. Also, you remember how Tyler gave you those armbands during our snowball fight? Tails and I adapted that camouflage technology with some our latest discoveries about the dark gene and have crafted these for you guys. It will aid you in preventing your dark tendencies without having to make a constant conscious effort." She explained with a smile on her face while the three of them just stared at her.
"How did you make those?" Flash asked.
"Well, once we figured it out that it was actually a mutation on the seventh chromosome, we—"
"Never mind that I asked." Flash told her quickly getting lost in all the science talk. Winter rolled her eyes before paying for Hydro's clothes and moving onto the next store for Flash.
"This is…awesome!" Flash exclaimed as he posed in front of the three-paneled mirror. He had on a dark green t-shirt on that was a little on the longer side compared to the usual t-shirt. He also had a black leather jacket, but his had a gray hood attached to it. He had on dark jeans on with white Converse, but instead of the regular white converse he had black detailing on it with black laces. "Do I get cool inventions now?" He asked excitedly.
"Yes you do!" Winter said pulling out a thin silver chain with a lightning bolt at the end of it and a black leather cuff similar to Hydro's. "The cuff is to handle your Dark Side and the chain acts as a conductor for your electrical powers allowing you to force out your powers in more powerful blasts." Winter explained while Flash quickly put them on. They all headed off to the next and final stop for Tsunami.
"You want to what?" Tsunami gasped staring at Winter wide-eyed.
"Dye your fur." Winter shrugged.
"What's wrong with my fur color?" She asked staring at her red fur.
"What's with you kids and change?" Winter rolled her eyes and dragged Tsunami into the salon. After getting her fur dyed a periwinkle blue that really made her lavender eyes pop, Winter dragged her to another store for her clothes all the while Hydro and Flash trudged behind them.
"Wow." Tsunami said shocked at what she saw in front of her. She was wearing a dark purple chiffon top and that flowed over her stomach loosely. She had a jacket similar to Flash's except the hood on her jacket was a dark blue. She had dark skinny jeans on with rips on the knees and black combat boots with thick black laces and hung loosely at the top of the boot.
"Told you that you can trust me." Winter smirked handing her a leather black, braided-rope bracelet and a two silver rings, one with lightning designs on it and the other with water designs on it. "You know what the bracelet does plus it looks better than Flash and Hydro's." She said as Flash and Hydro rolled their eyes. "The rings help you fuse your electrical and water powers together." Tsunami smiled slipping on the accessories.
"Can I go see Lazarus?" She asked a little worried about how Lazarus might take it.
"Of course and don't worry he'll love it." Winter smiled as Tsunami walked out of the store. Flash and Hydro also took that as their cue to leave to do their own thing. She quickly texted Lazarus hoping he wasn't busy.
Hey are you busy right now?
Nah, I'm just at the mall with AJ and Amber. Third-wheeling per usual.
Lol I'm at the mall too. Can you meet me at the food court?
Sure Tusi.
She closed her phone and started to head over to food court and stood by it as she looked around for Lazarus. Suddenly she felt two familiar arms wrap around her and she smiled as she looked down to see the arms.
"You look amazing." Lazarus whispered into her ear.
"Really? You don't think it's too much." She asked turning around to face him.
"I'll always think you're beautiful. Weather you're in a chicken suit or the hottest thing from Paris." He said as Tsunami kissed him lightly on the lips.
"Get a room!" AJ yelled walking passed them with Amber.
"We have one!" Tsunami shouted back as Lazarus laughed.
"Then use it!" Amber said as all four of them laughed. Back at the Storm House, Hailey and Bolt walked in dragging their bags behind them.
"Static!" Bolt called out. Suddenly Hailey and Bolt were tackled into a hug by Midnight. "Can't…Breathe." Bolt choked out.
"I'm just so excited you guys are here!" Midnight smiled and letting them go.
"Goddamn it!" They all turned to hear Static shout from the living room.
"What is he doing?" Hailey asked.
"Playing Halo." Midnight said rolling her eyes.
"That game isn't even hard." Bolt scoffed before he ran into the living room. "You think that's hard? Try this!" He said pulling a copy out of a game called Cyber Knight.
"Puh-lease! Games today are nothing compared to the olds ones. Everything is watered-down crap now." Static rolled his eyes and Bolt smirked.
"Shall we put it to the test?" Bolt asked as Static quickly stood up.
"What did you have in mind?" Static asked looking at his nephew.
"You play Cyber Knight while I play Halo. Whoever can beat their game first gets bragging rights." Bolt said as Static smirked.
"Want to make it interesting?" Static asked as Bolt raised an eyebrow. "If I win you have to spend to whole week in this house besides school. If you win I'll get you a car." He said and Bolt's jaw dropped. A car? Was he kidding?
"A car?" Bolt gasped and Static nodded. "You're on!" He exclaimed grabbing a controller.
3 hours later…
"Done." Static said casually throwing the controller on the couch.
"What?" I'm only on chapter seven!" Bolt exclaimed.
"Told you games are garbage now and you have to stay in this house for the rest of the week." Static smirked as Bolt collapsed on the floor.
"Can I at least have Flash, Shawn, and Chrissy over?" Bolt mumbled against the carpet.
"Yeah, it's not like I'm grounding you. I'm just making you stay here." Static smiled as Bolt went back to trying to beat the game. At Todd and Jillian's house, Lauren was climbing out her window planning to sneak over to see Hydro.
"Don't you even try it!" Todd yelled through his megaphone as soon as Lauren's feet touched the ground.
"How'd you know?" Lauren asked as Todd laughed.
"Reese tells us all about your schemes. I was well prepared for you." Todd smirked before using his powers to lift her up in the air and put her back into her room.
"Oh…he's better than I thought." Ginger laughed when she saw her sister float back into the room.
"Don't worry I have more tricks up my sleeves." Lauren smirked. All of them went down the tube. Throughout the week Todd and Jillian caught her sneaking out every time and she was sent back to her room every time.
"Jeez, they're better than Mom and Dad." Shawn muttered as Lauren shouted in frustration into a pillow. The week itself ended and while everybody did have some fun at their new homes, they were glad to return to their original homes. To celebrate the end of the week, Todd and Jillian hosted a barbeque for everyone to come to.
"I hate to admit Dad it, but I actually missed you." Julian told Todd as he walked back into his own house.
"I wish I can say the same thing." Todd joked and Julian rolled his eyes.
"You guys! You guys!" Conner exclaimed sliding into Todd's house excitedly.
"What?" Serenity asked.
"You know how the Talent Show is coming up?" Conner asked as everybody nodded. "The winner, if it's a musical act, gets to be in a music video!" He exclaimed and everybody got on their feet excitedly.
"Are you serious?" Andrew asked and Conner nodded.
"And I get to make it!" Conner smiled and Serenity kissed his cheek. All the bands grouped together and glared at each other.
"Mondair." Shawn said glaring at Andrew.
"Romaro." Topaz crossed her arms and glared at Lauren.
"Man, this is better then reality TV." Sonic whispered to Knuckles who nodded.
"Hedgehog." Lauren retorted glaring at Topaz.
"Panther." AJ spat at Lazarus and Lazarus stared at him.
"Dude, we're in the same band." Lazarus told him and AJ shrugged his shoulders innocently. Lazarus just shook his head and rolled his eyes.
"Solari." Hydro sneered as Bolt glared at him.
"Storm." Bolt spat as Flash looked at him.
"Yeah?" Flash asked as Bolt slapped his forehead.
"Not you Storm, that Storm!" Bolt exclaimed pointing to Hydro and Flash nodded in understanding.
"It's on." Shade gritted out before all the people in the bands raced out of the house.
"Our kids are way too competitive." Static muttered shaking his head.
"Gee, I wonder where they got it from." Arielle said sarcastically.
