"Woo-hoo!" Bolt exclaimed while he jumped off his ski-lift before it reached the top of the hill. Everybody who didn't know him watched him thinking he was insane while everybody who did know him just rolled their eyes.
"You weren't supposed to leave without me!" Shade yelled before he jumped off his own ski-lift.
"Wait up!" Flash shouted following suit.
"Try to keep up!" Bolt laughed.
"I would be winning if you hadn't cheated!" Shade scowled while leaning forward to try and gain more speed.
"Cheating? I resent that!" Bolt chuckled, but the smile was wiped off his face when Shade and Flash blew past him. Flash stuck his tongue out at Bolt while Shade just flipped him off. "Assholes." Bolt growled before trying to catch up with him.
"Hey!" Winter yelled as Bolt looked up to see his Mom sitting in a ski-lift above him. "Play nice!" She scolded and Bolt just rolled his eyes. Shade reached the bottom of the hill, but skidded to a stop in shock. Flash crashed into him and Bolt shortly followed after.
"Took you guys long enough." Suzy muttered as she looked at her nails with Hailey and Tsunami beside her.
"Hey babe." Lazarus smiled as he walked over to Tsunami with hot chocolate in his hands. He kissed her on the cheek and looked surprised when he saw Bolt, Shade, and Flash. "Hey, you guys finally made it." He smirked.
"How the hell did you guys beat us?" Flash asked exasperated.
"Hey, we're as shocked as you." Tsunami shrugged while Shade still laid in the snow not understanding what was going on.
"Sweetie, are you ok?" Suzy asked leaning over Shade.
"Uh Huh." He mumbled through the snow.
"Get up!" Shadow called out as he, Todd, Spark, and Static skidded to a stop by them. "So what if your girlfriends beat you? Suck it up!" He told Shade as he got back onto his feet.
"What really matters at the end of the day is," Todd paused as he looked at the guys with a smile. "If you can beat us." He grinned. Julian and AJ skidded to a stop next to their Dad and Luca hung onto Julian's back. Izzy and Serenity soon arrived as well and AJ lifted his head away from his phone long enough to look at his Dad.
"You're on!" AJ exclaimed before dropping his head back down and texting Amber.
"Hold up, I think I have a better idea." Spark said and everybody turned to look at him. "Father and Son Teams." Spark smirked and Bolt high-fived his Dad.
"No fair! Both my sons are lovesick!" Todd whined and Julian rolled his eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll race." Julian told him before lifting Luca off his back and placing him back onto the ground.
"And win!" Luca cheered and Todd leaned down to high-five him excitedly.
"Let's head back up to the top." Static said motioning to the ski-lift. Once they were at the top of the hill, they saw that the rest of the group was there as well.
"Please tell me this isn't another race." Amy muttered seeing that familiar competitive look in her husband and son's eyes.
"Hell yeah it is!" Todd cheered. "Father-Son Teams!" He smiled.
"Hmm…I think we should make this a little more interesting." Jillian said tapping her chin.
"What do you have in my mind?" Midnight asked.
"After this race we have a Mother-Daughter race and the winners of the two races race against each other." Jillian explained and the girls smiled.
"Fuck yeah!" Midnight exclaimed as Izzy covered Luca's ears. "Oops, sorry." She muttered and Izzy just rolled her eyes.
"As the great Marvin Gaye said, Let's Get it On!" Todd exclaimed grabbing his board.
"Which one of you want to race?" Static asked looking between his two sons.
"Let Flash do it." Hydro mumbled absentmindedly while Static looked at him confused.
"Mind talking with Lauren." Flash whispered to his father who shook his head. The teams lined up with Spark and Bolt on the far left, Static and Flash next to them, then Todd and Julian, and Shadow and Shade at the end.
"On your marks," Amy said raising her arm up while everybody got into position. "Get set," She continued. "Go!" She exclaimed throwing her arm down as they all raced down the slope.
"See ya suckers!" Shade shouted as he and Shadow pulled into the lead. Spark and Bolt scowled angrily as they furiously tried to catch up. The teams were approaching a ramp and Shadow and Shade flipped off to the ramp gracefully before landing back onto the slope. Spark grabbed Bolt's arm and as they flew off the ramp Spark threw Bolt forward while still holding onto his arm to propel themselves farther. They both landed near Shadow and Shade who looked at them surprised.
"HI!" Todd waved cheekily as he and Julian came out of nowhere and surpassed both teams.
"And goodbye." Julian bowed as they rushed past them. Shadow and Spark glared at Todd angrily while trying to up their speed.
"Shit!" Bolt exclaimed when he spotted a line of trees in their way. The three teams whizzed through the trees expertly before getting back onto a clear course.
"Incoming!" Todd shouted before he and Julian flew off a large cliff.
"Didn't expect that." Shadow muttered as he and Shade flew threw the air off the cliff.
"God! I love this race!" Spark exclaimed as he and Bolt jumped off he cliff and sailed through the air. The three teams landed on the slope with snow flying off the ground and spluttering around them. They hardly took notice though and continued to shred down the hill.
"Looks like we're going to win boys." Julian smirked cockily.
"Think again!" Static exclaimed as he and Flash popped out of the trees and in front of all three teams. Static and Flash glided through the finish line and high-fived each other.
"What the fuck?" Bolt asked as he and Spark skidded to a stop.
"Winners!" Flash cheered.
"How did you beat us?" Shadow asked.
"The trees make an excellent camouflage. Plus, we don't have to go through all the ramps and that giant cliff. Really hold you back." Static explained and Shadow, Spark, and Todd huffed.
"That's so unfair!" Shade yelled.
"Tell me the rules again?" Flash asked and Shade grumbled angrily. "My point exactly." He grinned while they all made their way back to the ski-lift.
"Who won?" Jillian asked when the guys made it back to the top of the hill.
"Flash and Static." Julian mumbled as Midnight, Hydro, and Tsunami cheered.
"Team Strom is in the lead!" Tsunami smiled as Hailey grabbed her board.
"Not for long." She said and Tsunami snorted.
"Which one of you are going to race?" Amy asked Serenity and Ebony.
"Me!" Serenity and Ebony both shouted. They both whipped their heads towards each other and glared. They began to argue over who was the one that was going to race alongside Amy before the sound of Serenity's phone interrupted them.
"Hello?" Serenity answered still glaring at her younger sister. Her mean expression soon morphed into a happy one as she whipped around. "Hi Conner! Did you guys make it okay?" She spoke into her phone and Ebony grinned triumphantly.
"Guess that means I'm racing!" Ebony laughed while grabbing her board. The girls lined up, primed and ready for their race to start. Todd stood in front of them with Juliana on his shoulders who held up her hands excitedly.
"On your marks!" Juliana yelled as the girls got a determined look on all their faces. "Get set!" She yelled. "Go!" She shouted before they all took off down the hill.
"This has to be the hottest thing ever!" Todd grinned as he watched Jillian glide down the hill.
"I know." Shade mumbled totally unaware that it was girlfriend's father she was talking to.
"Excuse me?" Todd asked raising his eyebrow, suddenly seriously.
"U-Uh, Uh, you know, just that…um, I'll just…stop talking." Shade stuttered nervously and Todd smirked. Midnight and Tsunami were currently in the lead, but Winter and Hailey were hot on their heels.
"You guys should really pay attention." Ebony said as she and Amy took first place effortlessly.
"I agree." Suzy smiled as she and Jillian dropped down in front of them and taking first place.
"That's it!" Winter exclaimed as she used her powers to bury the rest of the teams underneath snow. "See ya!" She smiled while she and Hailey blew past the rest of the teams. Tsunami and Midnight managed to deflect enough of it to keep themselves on their boards, but they were still a considerable amount behind Winter and Hailey.
"Oh! So that's how it's going to be?" Amy muttered as she and Ebony got back onto their boards. "Got your chaos emerald?" She asked as Ebony pulled out the pink Chaos Emerald.
"Always." Ebony smirked. "Chaos Control!" She yelled as she and Amy disappeared.
"God this is so unfair!" Jillian said as Suzy helped her up. Jillian didn't have powers and Suzy's powers weren't helpful for this race. To say that Jillian was pissed would be an understatement.
"Let's go!" Suzy exclaimed still determined to win this race. Midnight and Tsunami managed to catch up with Winter and Hailey when Amy and Ebony appeared in a pink flash in front of the four of them. Midnight gritted her teeth angrily and made all the snow underneath Amy and Ebony turn into water.
"Whoa!" Ebony gasped as she and Amy fell into a puddle of water.
"Nice try!" Hailey yelled as she turned the puddle made for herself and Winter back into snow. They glided over it without any trouble and Tsunami looked behind them and frowned.
"Guys, really?" Amy smirked as she and Ebony appeared again in front of Midnight and Tsunami securing first place.
"What the—"Tsunami didn't get to finish her sentence before she and Midnight were smacked by the Rose Girls' hammers sending them flying back through the course. They eventually landed in a large pile of snow and Hailey and Winter passed by them laughing. Amy and Ebony high-fived each other as they neared the finish line.
"Hey guys!" Suzy smiled cheerfully as she and Jillian passed by them and through the finish line. Amy and Ebony skidded to a stop with their mouths gaping and their eyes wide.
"How did you get here?" Amy asked and Jillian smirked as Hailey and Winter soon arrived.
"Cheaters never win!" She exclaimed.
"Damn it!" Midnight cursed as she and Tsunami pulled in finishing last.
"We won!" Suzy sang as Hailey glared at her.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah let's just get back." Ebony muttered dragging her board towards the ski-lift.
"Who won?" Spark asked when the girls arrived at the top of the hill.
"We did!" Suzy sang jumping off the ski lift.
"That's great!" Shade exclaimed hugging her tightly. But he quickly let go when his Mom and sister glared at him heatedly. "I mean…you know…it's whatever." Shade mumbled making Suzy laugh.
"Okay then, let's see who the Ultimate Snowboarders are!" Flash shouted while grabbing his snowboard.
"It'll be us!" Suzy told him.
"Get set," Alex mumbled, not nearly as excited as everybody else was about this race. He just wanted some hot chocolate. "Go." He announced and the teams took off quickly.
"Bye boys!" Jillian smiled as she and Suzy surpassed Flash and Static.
"Not so fast!" Flash exclaimed grabbing Suzy's arm and pulling her back while propelling himself forward.
"Don't even try!" Suzy sneered pulling her arm back and swinging Flash backwards making him crash into his Dad. "Ha!" She grinned.
"Cheater!" Flash shouted and Suzy stuck out her tongue. Suzy and Jillian sailed off the ramp, spinning through the air, before landing gracefully back on the slope.
"Stupid ramp." Static muttered as he landed back onto the slope without doing a trick. Flash stopped in front of it and grabbed on the edges. Flash skidded to a stop in front of the ramp and proceeded to hop off his board and use his speed to race off it. He flew threw the air and secured his feet back to his board before he landed in front of Jillian and Suzy.
"Yeah! Go Flash!" Static exclaimed and Flash smiled back at his Dad.
"You need to catch up Dad!" Flash called out and Static released one of his feet and launched himself forward and slid right up next to his son.
"See ya losers!" Static exclaimed causing both girls to glare at him. Suzy noticed some strange pattern in the patch of snow they were approaching and quickly pulled Jillian closer to her.
"What are you doing?" Jillian asked confused.
"Look." Suzy told her pointing to the patch of snow that was surging with electricity.
"Assholes." Jillian muttered.
"We're going to win this!" Flash cheered as he and Static approached the finish line with Jillian and Suzy close behind them, but still behind them.
"Think again!" Suzy shouted before grabbing onto Flash while Jillian grabbed onto Static. The two of them threw the guys off the course and proceeded to cross the finish line.
"We win!" Jillian exclaimed happily hugging her daughter. The rest of the group started to make it down the hill just in time to see Jillian and Suzy take the win.
"Woo!" Todd exclaimed as he ran towards his wife and daughter from the ski-lift with his youngest daughter strapped to his chest in a baby harness.
"We won!" Luca yelled as Julian laughed.
"Whatever." Static mumbled dusting the snow off of himself.
"Who wants to get hot chocolate?" Jillian asked sweetly and everybody nodded.
"Sure…now she's nice." Flash muttered as he got back onto his feet only to be met with a snowball to the face.
"Nicer than you!" Alex yelled while AJ snickered at his little brother.
"He has a point." AJ said and Flash glared at him.
"I officially hate your family." Flash muttered.
"Mommy! Mommy! I want to build a snowman!" Luca exclaimed while Todd began to sing that Frozen song only to be met with several snowballs to the face. Izzy smiled down at her son, proud that he was learning to speak better with the help of Julian. Julian ran up and pulled Luca into his arms making the small hedgehog giggle happily.
"C'mon let's go!" Julian exclaimed as he raced towards a pile of snow.
"I bet I can build a better snowman!" Todd said to Izzy while dusting the snow off of himself.
"I'm not going to make this a competition between you and my son." Izzy frowned while crossing her arms.
"Spoil sport." Todd pouted before turning around. "Hey Spark! I bet I can build a better snowman than you!" He yelled.
"You're on!" Izzy heard Spark yell and rolled her eyes.
"Stop! I surrender!" She turned when she heard Julian shout. Izzy ran over to see him being bombarded by snow. She laughed when she saw Luca throwing snow onto Julian and Julian pretend to be hurt. "Ah! My back! I'm down! Tell your Mom I love her!" He yelled as he fell into the snow faking his death.
"Mommy! Julian said he loved you!" Luca smiled up at her and Julian popped one eye open to see Izzy staring down at him and shaking her head.
"Loves her." Julian corrected and Izzy laughed.
"Oh! I mean loves you!" Luca told her and Izzy picked up her son.
"I bet he does." Izzy smiled as she saw Julian smile a little bit. "You want some hot chocolate, pumpkin?" Izzy asked and Luca clapped his hands and cheered. "Follow Jillian okay?" She told him as he ran off towards Jillian. "Aren't you going to want some?" Izzy asked as she bent over Julian.
"Yes." He sitting back up quickly. "With marshmallows!" He told her getting back up on his feet. She laughed as he slung his arm around her shoulders and they headed towards the lodge.
"Sometimes I think you're more of a kid than my three-year-old son." Izzy told him and Julian was about to say something but quickly got off by his father's shouting.
"Na uh! Mine is better!" Todd yelled and Izzy snorted.
"You see where I get it from?" Julian mumbled making her laugh. After a long day of playing in the snow, everybody was settled into their lodge next to the fire with various warm drinks in their hands. Midnight was in the middle of begging Flash to play a song while everyone just watched on amused.
"Please!" Midnight begged her son and he shook his head.
"No way! I sang like twenty times already." Flash whined and Static just handed him his guitar.
"Just play a song for your Mom." Static told him and Flash pouted, hating the parent guilt trip.
"Fine." Flash mumbled as he played a few strings. "But you got to sing with me!" He shouted pointing at his Dad as everybody cheered for the collaboration.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, she only asked you." Static said waving his hands in front of himself.
"C'mon Static, we haven't heard you sing in forever." Jillian smiled and Static frowned.
"Please baby." Midnight pouted using her infamous "kitty eyes" and Static's resolve quickly vanished.
"Fine." He sighed and Flash smiled as his Dad sat next to him with a guitar of his own and they quickly discussed what they should play before agreeing and tuning their guitars. Everybody started to sway to the song as he continued to play. Static and Flash both started to play sweet melody as everyone watched with a smile on their faces and Midnight practically gushed in her seat.
You look so wonderful in your dress
I love you hair like that
The way it falls on the side of your neck
Down your shoulders and back
We are surrounded by all of these lies
And people who talk too much
You got the kind of look in your eyes
As if no one knows anything but us
Midnight immediately had her hands clasped together and against her chest as she listened to her husband and son sing together. Static's voice was slightly deeper than Flash's, but they sounded incredibly similar yet very complimentary to each other. Flash couldn't see, but Suzy had used her phone to quickly video call Ivy so she could listen in on this possibly once-in-a-lifetime performance by father and son. Ivy sat in her hotel room and held back her tears and she listened to Flash sing so beautifully. Of course she has listened to him sing before, but she always gets so excited to hear him every time.
Should this be the last thing I see
I want you to know it's enough for me
'Cause all that you are is all that I'll ever need
I'm so in love, so in love
So in love, so in love
You look so beautiful in this light
Your silhouette over me
The way it brings out the blue in your eyes
Is the Tenerife Sea
And all of the voice surrounding us here
They just fade out when you take a breath
Just say the word and I will disappear
Into the wilderness
Static started straight into Midnight's eyes anytime he didn't have his eyes closed or looking down at his guitar. Midnight—not usually one to get emotional—was wiping the tears away from her eyes as her husband sang directly to her. Static doesn't play guitar and sing that much anymore besides a little bit here and there, so for him to sing to her like this was a real treat. Especially since this was the first time he and Flash sang together since Flash had his own band. Midnight smiled softly as Static sang to her and played his guitar with her in his mind.
Should this be the last thing I see
I want you to know it's enough for me
'Cause all that you are is that I'll ever need
I'm so in love, so in love
So in love, so in love
Flash stopped playing his guitar, but Static continued as Flash sang the first half of the bridge on his own. He closed his eyes and focused on the words and singing, trying hard to fight off the dizziness that was creeping up on him. He opened his eyes to play his guitar again before Static joined him on the second half of the bridge and was surprised to see Ivy staring back at him through Suzy's phone. Ivy, having noticed that Flash was now staring at her, smiled and waved at him making him smile.
Lumière, darling
Lumière over me
Lumière, darling
Lumière over me
Lumière, darling
Lumière over me
Should this be the last thing I see
I want you to know it's enough for me
'Cause all that you are is all that I'll ever need
I'm so in love, so in love
So in love, love, love, love
So in love
You look so wonderful in your dress
I love your hair like that
And in a moment I knew you best
Static finished off the last bit of the song while Flash played the guitar and they finished by taking a small bow. Everyone applauded them as Midnight jumped out her chair and hugged them both tightly. Flash soon managed to get out of his mother's grip before she and Static started to make-out and dashed over grabbing Suzy's phone out of her hand.
"Hi baby! You sounded so good!" Ivy exclaimed as Flash's face came into view. Ivy was currently sitting in the hotel room she shared with Chrissy who was currently in the shower trying to wash the beach out of her hair.
"Oh man, you have no idea how happy I was to see your face. I'm pretty sure I would have fainted otherwise." Flash told her and she laughed.
"Um, excuse me? That's my phone." Ivy watched as Suzy tried to grab her phone out of Flash's hands.
"You have your boyfriend here! Let me have this!" Flash argued holding the phone out of reach of Suzy's hands.
"You have your own phone! Call Ivy off of it!" Suzy shouted at him still trying to reach for her phone.
"This won't take long." Flash promised and Ivy laughed as she watched her best friend glare at her boyfriend. "Fine, fine." Flash rolled his eyes before turning back to look at Ivy. "Give me a minute." He told her and she nodded before hanging up. Soon enough she was getting a notification that he wanted to video-chat. His face filled up her computer screen and she smiled brightly at him.
"How's the snow?" She asked.
"Pretty awesome. We got some good races in today." He told her.
"I can totally chug this faster than you!" Ivy heard Todd exclaim as Flash turned his head and shook his head laughing.
"Are your parents being as competitive there as mine are over here?" Flash asked and Ivy snorted.
"Please, you do realize that my Dad is Sonic the Hedgehog. Today he practically grinded Tails' face into the sand after beating him in a volleyball game." Ivy told him and Flash laughed. "The Dads have already planned out this big volleyball tournament for tomorrow. That doesn't even include the surfing competition Tyler is organizing." She explained to him.
"Wow and I thought are races were extreme." Flash muttered and Ivy sighed.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy the sun and the beach way more if you were here with me." Ivy pouted and Flash smiled sadly at her.
"Only a couple of more days. And I promise, next year, we're going to have Spring Break together." Flash promised and Ivy smiled. Flash was about to tell her all about the races today, but his eyes widened. "Oh my God! Oh my God! Chrissy put some clothes on!" He exclaimed covering his eyes and Ivy turned around to see Chrissy behind her in a towel and confused.
"Are you staring at my girlfriend naked, pervert!" Chrissy heard Bolt exclaim and Ivy turned to see Bolt tackle Flash to the ground.
"I'm not! She just walked in there!" Flash exclaimed and Chrissy just smacked her forehead while Ivy fought her own laughter.
"Chrissy? Baby! I swear to God, I will pour bleach into Flash's eyes if he saw any—Oh. Hi Ivy." Bolt said as Ivy waved awkwardly and Chrissy shook her head.
"Bolt, Flash didn't see anything. Don't blind him." Chrissy told him putting her hand on her hip. She had a large enough towel around her that really, there's was nothing to get excited about. "I'll call you in a few minutes, okay?" She told him and he nodded before passing off the phone to Flash who was rubbing his shoulder. Chrissy had gone back into the bathroom at this point and Ivy started cracking up.
"Babe, that was not funny. I could have almost died." Flash pouted and Ivy just wiped her eye.
"I'm sorry, but that was funny and you know Bolt wouldn't hurt you…much." She said and he just sent her a look that clearly showed how much he wasn't amused. "I'll call you tomorrow? I promised my Mom I'd go to her to a yoga thing tomorrow morning." She told him and he nodded. They said their goodbyes and Ivy closed down her laptop as Chrissy entered the room again with her pajamas on. "Sorry about that. I'll warn you next time." She told her and Chrissy just shrugged.
"No harm, no foul." Chrissy said sitting on her bed with her legs folded underneath her. "Did you know that the seniors are going to a club tonight?" She asked looking over to Ivy.
"Oh yeah, The legal age here is 18 so they pretty much have the freedom to do what they want." Ivy shrugged.
"I'm sure the London people are doing the same." Chrissy said and Ivy plopped down on her own bed.
"All I know is I came here for the beach. I could care less about some clubs." Ivy said.
"Preach." Chrissy muttered and the two of them laughed together.
