"All right ladies! Today is a serious day and I won't be dealing with any of your bitching! We need to get hair done, dresses on, makeup perfect, and shoes strapped on!" Amber shouted as she paced in front of Lilac, Ebony, and Topaz who were sitting on a couch in Silver and Blaze's house.
"Who made her in charge of us getting ready for Prom?" Ebony muttered and Lilac looked over to Topaz who shrugged her shoulders.
"It may be a painful process, but we'll look great at the end of it." Topaz said and Ebony just sighed heavily.
"C'mon! Up! Up! We're running late for your appointments at the spa!" Amber yelled shooing them off the couch.
"I already hate Prom." Ebony muttered making Lilac laugh. Derek was walking out of the tuxedo shop with his tux for the evening with AJ and Lazarus behind him chattering away.
"I don't see why we can't go. Seems pretty classist to me." AJ said and Derek rolled his eyes.
"It's been tradition for decades that Prom is a senior and junior thing. We're going next year, what's the big deal?" Lazarus asked as they got to Derek's car.
"But Derek won't be there!" AJ exclaimed.
"We had Formal with him there." Lazarus shrugged and AJ just sighed.
"He's getting married and going off to college, he's going to forget all about us." AJ pouted before getting into the backseat.
"Please continue to talk about me like I'm not here." Derek mumbled.
"Derek! Aren't you a little sad that we won't be at school all together anymore?" AJ asked from the backseat. Of course Derek was sad that he wasn't going to be in school again with his best friends again. Sure, there's a chance that they might attend UC Berkeley like he is, but he also knows that they want to do different things than him and UC Berkeley might not even be on their radar for colleges. Derek was sad that he won't have Lazarus and AJ around anymore, but he wasn't going to tell them that.
"Devastated." Derek drawled sarcastically making Lazarus snort and AJ pout. "Let's just go eat, okay?" He asked wanting to get off this topic as fast as possible.
"Fine, but I'm picking the place!" AJ told them as they pulled out of the parking lot. Serenity, Ginger, and Izzy were all at a nail salon getting their nails done for tonight and excitedly talking about their plans.
"Isn't Julian going to meet your Dad tonight?" Ginger asked looking over at Izzy.
"Yup." Izzy said and Serenity and Ginger started cracking up. "What?" She asked worriedly.
"Julian doesn't have the best track record with parents." Serenity muttered.
"Why? What's wrong with him?" Izzy asked.
"He always manages to try too hard and messes it up somehow. Plus the sweating, oh God the sweating." Serenity told her and Izzy raised an eyebrow.
"The sweating?" She asked.
"Julian makes himself so nervous that he starts sweating like a sinner in church. I hope for his sake, he has a back up tux." Ginger said making Serenity snort.
"My Dad isn't scary though. I'm sure he'll be fine." Izzy shrugged.
"Isn't your Dad a cop?" Ginger asked and Izzy nodded. Serenity and Ginger looked at each other before laughing hysterically. Izzy just sighed and hoped to any higher power that Julian will survive meeting her Dad. Pictures were going to be at the Solari House (even though Spark argued that since neither of his kids were going it shouldn't be here but with one glare from Amy and Midnight he quickly shut up) and they were all going to dinner before heading to the Prom.
"Hydro! Honey! Smile!" Midnight grinned as Hydro sighed heavily, but Lauren laughed. Lauren was wearing a dark peacock blue dress that was a two-piece. The top was a halter neck with various sparkly designs on it made from sequins, gems, etc. The skirt of her dress flared out and had a similar sparkle design around the waist. Her hair was pulled back into a loose bun with curls hanging near her face and a small poof on the top of her head. Hydro decided to keep it simple with an all black tuxedo that had matching blue accents. Their flowers consisted of a large white gerbera daisy and Lauren had a black and blue ribbon attached to her corsage.
'You know she won't give up until you give her an honest smile.' Lauren told him in his mind and he rolled his eyes before pulling Lauren close to him and giving a wide smile.
"You know, at least we're missing out on the relentless picture taking." Bolt grinned making Chrissy laugh as they stood beside each other.
"I don't know. I might deal with that better than holding all of their stuff." Chrissy muttered lifting up her hands to show that she was holding Liecy's clutch and Tyler's phone and keys. "Plus, I'm bound to be pulled soon to take a picture of my parents and them." She said and Bolt snickered.
"I'll be sure to take the camera when Cream inevitably drags you to be in the picture too." Bolt smirked and Chrissy rolled her eyes.
"Oh my God, just get back together already." Shawn mumbled and both Bolt and Chrissy shot him a glare. Ruby laughed and pulled her boyfriend away before facing a double team of Solari and Prower wrath. Ruby was wearing a tight, high neck navy dress that ended just above her knees. There were decorative cut-outs along the sides and back while the dress itself was sleeveless. She had her dreads unwrapped and curled lightly to make them fall in effortless waves. Shawn was dressed in a slate gray tuxedo with a white shirt and navy accents. Both had on dark blue forget-me-nots and Ruby's corsage had a black silver ribbon.
"You need to keep your mouth shut and stop meddling in their business." Ruby told him and Shawn huffed.
"Friends? They got to be killing me with this bullshit." Shawn muttered and Ruby just poked his cheek making him smile at the cute gesture. He leaned in to kiss her, but stopped when he heard a voice.
"Oh yeah, Rouge! I think they're right over there!" Bolt shouted pointing out Ruby and Shawn to Rouge. Shawn glared at his friend while Bolt just smirked and watched Rouge drag the couple to take pictures. Andrew was talking to Roddy, the two of them both waiting for their dates to arrive. Andrew was in a black tux with a white shirt and red accents while Roddy was in an all black tuxedo with white accents.
"Ebony has been texting me all day about how Amber has been acting like a dictator." Andrew told Roddy who snickered.
"Maybe next year, Amber will be too busy worrying about herself getting ready to boss them around." Roddy said and Andrew went to reply, but his jaw just became slack. Roddy looked at him confused before turning around and his own eyes widening.
Ebony was in a short, red lace dress that ended above her knees. It was low cut, with the neckline ending just below her chest and the straps thinning out around her shoulders, before connecting to the back. Her quills were straight and pulled to one side with a braid design on the side of her head. Lilac was wearing a white dress with a halter neckline and was on the looser side. It bunched up around the waist and was backless with the straps connecting to the skirt of her dress across her back. Her quills were pulled into a half-up, half-down style with two braids meeting together in the back of her head and the rest of her quills were curled. Her bangs were pulled back slightly showing both her eyes fully for once.
"Holy shit." Andrew murmured completely stunned by his girlfriend.
"Like it?" Ebony grinned wrapping her arms around his neck.
"More like love it." He grinned. Before Lilac could even take a step towards Roddy, he was in front of her spinning her around in circles making her laugh.
"Roddy! You better put her down! I'm not letting all my hard work be ruined just because you're excited!" Amber yelled as she walked into the backyard with AJ following behind her. Roddy placed Lilac back onto her feet, rolling his eyes, but Lilac just laughed.
"You. Are. Beautiful." Roddy said, enunciating his words by kissing her.
"There's my baby! C'mon! Let's take pictures!" Nikki exclaimed making Lilac blush.
"Oo! Sonic look how cute they are!" Rebecca gushed staring at her son who scratched his cheek sheepishly. Conner was standing beside his camera that was set up on a tripod, one of five that were set up across the backyard. He was wearing a classic tuxedo with a bowtie and Renegade stood beside him in an all black tuxedo.
"Are five cameras really necessary?" Renegade asked staring at the various cameras around the yard.
"Well, seeing how I'm going to soon be dragged away for hundreds of pictures and won't be able to walk around with a camera myself, yes it's very necessary." Conner said and Renegade rolled his eyes. He smiled when he saw Alana enter the backyard with a smile on her face. She was wearing a fit-n-flare black, lace dress. The dress was sleeveless and ended above her knees with a v-neckline, that was covered in lace. Her quills were curled and fell down her back and shoulders in loose waves.
"You look amazing." Renegade told her when she walked over to him.
"You're not too bad yourself." Alana grinned.
"Finally! I thought I would only have pictures of him scowling from tonight." Anna—Renegade's guardian—exclaimed making Alana laugh and Renegade scowl. "See, just like that." She pointed at him and Renegade just shook his head. Ginger and Serenity walked into the backyard together after dropping off Izzy at her house.
"Do you think Julian will make it to the dance?" Ginger asked. Ginger was wearing an emerald green dress that fell to the floor. The bodice was a mesh top with a sequin and lace design around the shoulders, chest, and waist. In between the designs would be lines connecting the design to the next section. She had her hair pinned up in a graceful up-do with some loose strands hanging around her face.
"50/50." Serenity said making Ginger laugh. Serenity was wearing a black, two-piece dress. The top was made of black lace over a nude covering while the skirt was black satin with a high slight up her leg, but she had a black lace skirt peeking out underneath that ended mid-thigh. Her quills were curled and pulled into a low ponytail that hung on one side with her bangs pinned back. Serenity and Ginger spotted their respective boyfriends and both separated to go to them.
"Hello gorgeous." Conner smiled when he saw Serenity walking up to him.
"Hello handsome." Serenity said before wrapping her arms around his shoulders.
"Who let our daughters dress like this? They're so indecent!" Shadow huffed angrily when he finally caught sight of both his daughters.
"I did. Got a problem with that?" Amy asked raising an eyebrow towards her husband.
"No, no, not one bit." Shadow murmured and Amy smiled. Derek was talking to Lazarus on the side of the yard wearing an all black tuxedo with dark green accents. Derek looked at Lazarus confused when he saw Lazarus grin widely. He turned around and smiled when he saw Ginger behind him.
"Hi there." Ginger smiled and Derek wrapped his arms around her waist.
"You look great, but I'm thinking I might like you in white better." He told her making her laugh. Lilac suddenly appeared beside them with an exhausted looking Roddy.
"Your turn with Mom and Dad. I'm done." Lilac told him and before Derek could argue Nikki and James arrived with cameras in hand. He sighed, but Ginger simply patted his chest especially when she saw Reese and Luna appear behind Derek's parents. After dozens (hundreds) of pictures, Brice finally had it and threw his arms up in the air in frustration.
"Can we just go already?" He exclaimed as Nicole laughed. Nicole was wearing a tight metallic gold dress with geometric designs along the dress. The dress was backless, with sleeves, and ended slightly below her knees. Her hair was curled and pulled up in a ponytail with a slight poof on the top of her head. Brice was wearing a black tuxedo with a white shirt and gold accents. They had white roses for their flowers while Nicole had gold ribbons on her corsage.
"Seriously, I think I'm starting to go blind from the flashes." Ebony muttered and Amy sighed.
"Fine, fine, go on and go. Have fun and be safe!" Amy said as the group started to head towards the limos they rented.
"What are you guys going to do?" Shawn asked as he passed by Bolt and Flash.
"Probably stay here and watch movies." Bolt shrugged. Shawn nodded before following Ruby into the limo. Everybody laughed and cheered as they made their way to dinner, just one step closer to Prom. However, for Julian he still had a large hurdle to get over in order for him to get to Prom.
"Um, good evening Mr. Sanders." Julian greeted when Izzy's Dad opened the door. Julian was wearing a gray tuxedo with a white shirt and blue accents and nervously holding a corsage for Izzy.
"Officer Sanders to you." Izzy's Dad—Jeff—corrected making Julian gulp nervously. He could already feel the sweat dripping down his neck.
"Hi Julie!" Luca smiled up happily from behind Jeff's legs and Julian smiled down at him trying to ignore the unwavering stare of Mr. Sanders.
"Hey buddy, how goes it?" Julian grinned leaning down to talk to Luca.
"Mommy looks really pretty." Luca told him and Julian smiled.
"She always looks pretty." Julian told him and Jeff cleared his throat making Julian stand straight back up.
"My daughter will be home at ten." Jeff ordered and Julian nodded.
"Dad! Cut it out! The dance doesn't even end until eleven!" Julian sighed in relief when he heard Izzy's voice. Izzy appeared at the door wearing a blue dress that had a slit up her leg, ending mid-thigh. The dress had a small cut outs on one side, the collarbone, and the back while being sleeveless. She had her hair down in large curls and she smiled brightly when she saw Julian standing there.
"Oh goodie! We made it just in time!" Julian sighed heavily before turning around to see his parents there with his baby sister and cameras.
"Hiya! You must be Izzy's father!" Todd greeted happily shaking Jeff's hand while Jeff looked at him a little overwhelmed.
"It's so nice to meet you. I have to say you did a wonderful job with Izzy. She's a beautiful young woman." Jillian smiled while Izzy and Jeff blushed. Yes, while Todd and Julian were hopeless with parents, Jillian was some kind of savant.
"Yes, um," Jeff cleared his throat awkwardly. "Thank you." He nodded his head once when Luca came running out.
"Luca! My main man!" Todd exclaimed as he and Luca exchanged high-fives.
"This is the family you've been hanging out with?" Jeff asked Izzy.
"There's more of them, but pretty much." Izzy smiled and shrugged her shoulders. Jeff just shook his head and sighed, but when he saw Izzy walk over to Julian and Luca interact with Todd and Alena—he felt a little reassured that his daughter and grandson found a good family. After a lot of pictures of Julian and Izzy (some with even Luca in them), the limo pulled up and Izzy and Julian got in. Julian sighed loudly in relief when the door closed while everybody laughed.
"How was it?" Serenity asked.
"I'm alive, aren't I?" Julian muttered and Izzy patted his knee.
