Chapter 3: Tension Rising
"VEEMON!"
I woke up in a cold sweat. I clenched my fist.
"Is that what would happen if we fought? I would lose?"
I thought.
No, I wouldn't let that happen, if we do end up fighting, we will win.

"So what if we try going back to where you guys went?" I said. We were all in our collwge computer room, which looked very similar to our middle school computer lab.
"I doubt he'll be there again Yolie." Responded Cody
"Well we gotta start somewhere, right T.K?"
T.K stood quiet looking out the window. He stood in the corner of the room not saying much.
"Fine don't respond, Davis?"
I looked at Davis who stood by the windows. He was staring towards the corner of the room.
"Wait a minute..." I thought.
I looked back at T.k, and then back at Davis, they were staring at each other. Cody noticed as well and gave me a confused look.
"Did something happen between you two?" I asked.
"No." Both responded simultaneously not breaking their stare.
The door opened up revealing an out of breath Kari and Ken.
"Sorry we're late, had to stop by a store." Said Ken.
"Its fine." I responded.
Both Ken and and Kari looked at Davis and T.k and gave us confused looks. We both shrugged our shoulders.
We all stood quietly staring at both of them.
Then the door opened up again revealing both Matt and Tai.
"Hey guys!" Tai said giving a big smile.
"We're tagging alo-"
"Did mom send you?" T.k said cutting Matt off and finally breaking off the stare.
"No..." Matt said a little confused.
Davis snickered a little.
"Looks like momma's boy can't be a big boy."
We all gave Davis a surprised look.
"At least I having a caring mother."
We all gave T.K an even bigger surprised look.
"T.K, Davis, what the hell?" Said Tai in a serious tone.
I looked at T.k who looked surprised at himself.
"Sorry Davis."
I looked over to Davis who had the same look T.K did.
"Me too."
"Why don't we go to Gennai first?" I said slowly.
"Good idea." Said Cody.
Cody fished his D-3 out of his pocket.
"Digiport open!"

Tai and me hung back from the group walking behind them.
Tai put his arm around me and whispered into my ear.
"You saw the look they were giving to each other when we walked in?"
"Yea, its the same look we gave to each other before we fought in the Digital world."
"The exact same look."
We both looked at each other. "It maybe a bit more complicated though." I responded.
"How so?"
"You know why."
Tai sighed and looked ahead at his sister.
"Yea."
"We're here." Said Yolie.

"So a digimon randomly attacked you guys and ran away?" Responded Gennai.
"Basically." I said
"Hmmm... Have you felt any different since you inhaled the gas?"
"Well, I have felt particulary more aggressive towards Davis."
"And me towards Veemon."
"I've actually felt the exact same way." Responded Davis.
"Me too." Said Veemon.
"Hmm, its best then you two don't knock heads with each other then, just to avoid any major conflict. And i will try to come up with something to get this gas out of your system. As far as the digimon, I'm sorry but I've never heard about one like that. And I can't imagine if anyone told him to do so, the digital world has kept its balance. No strong evil has really emerged from the digital world since Diaboromon."
"Then we'll have to do things the old fashioned way." I said. "We look by foot and hope their stupid enough to attack again."
"How should we do this then?" Asked Davis.
"Split into two groups." Said Matt. "We don't know what we're dealing with here, so let's not go any smaller."
"Sounds good." Said Davis.
"Then it'll be me Cody, Yolie, And Kari."
"Wait." Said Davis.
"Let's make it me, Ken, Yolie and Kari."
"That doesn't make sense, the power houses are on one team, mine."
"What are you trying to say T.k? That Veemon can't handle his own?"
"Guys, calm do-"
"I wasn't actually saying that, but now that you bring it up, yea he won't be able to."
"Guys calm down!" Exclaimed Veemon.
"Yea T.K, I'm sure Veemon could handle it especially since wormmon is with him."
Veemon gave a look to Patamon. "I'll let that slide Patamon."
Patamon squinted at Veemon.
"You'll LET that slide?"
"Woah woah, guys that's enough." Said Tai. "No need to get worked up. Its the gas, remember just the gas."
"This is worse than I thought." Mumbled Gennai.
"How about Davis, Yolie, Tai, and Cody." Said Matt. "We don't necessarily need the DNA partners together, for now at least."
"Just switch out Yolie for Kari and I'll be happy." Smirked Davis.
"What's that suppose to mean?!"
"Nothing, I think i can just protect Kari better, that's all."
"That's it!" I lunged towards Davis, but before i could do anything, Matt and Tai grabbed me.
"T.K let it go!" Exclaimed Matt.
"I'VE BEEN BY HER SIDE BEFORE YOU WERE EVEN A DIGIDESTINED, SO DON'T EVEN THINK YOU CAN PROTECT HER BETTER THAN I CAN!"
"HEY DON'T I GET A SAY IN THIS?!" Yelled kari.
We all stopped and looked at Kari.
"I don't need protecting from either one of you, in fact I can handle this on my own. Let's go Gatomon, I'm tired of those two."
Kari turned around and left Gennai's home. "Kari wait!" Exclaimed Tai. He went running after her.
Matt let go of me.
I gripped my D-3 hard. Whatever the gas was, it was working.

"Boys are so stupid... I swear Tai."
"Don't say that Kari, you know they're being influenced." Said Gatomon.
"I know...but I can't help but think that this would have happened even without the attack."
"Well Kari, i can't say you're wrong, but you've gotta understand their feelings." I said.
Kari looked at me.
"They love you, a lot, and with this added aggression they will do whatever it takes to get your love in return. And I know you love one of them. I've seen the looks you've given to him."
"I know."
"I think you're gonna have to tell him soon, despite how the other may feel."
"I know."
"But i would wait until this ordeal has passed." I laughed.
Kari gave a small smile.
"Kari!"
We turned around to see T.k and Davis running towards us.
"We just wanted to say." Said T.k.
"That we're sorry." Davis finished.
"Its okay." Smiled Kari.
The rest followed behind them.
"Let's split up as Matt said." Said Davis.
We all nodded in agreement.

"I doubt we'll actually find something Patamon." I said.
"Don't say that T.K, we'll find him." Said Kari.
"I don't know, I've been thinking about it. The digimon attacked us when we were off guard, and right we were on the offensive, he ran away. This digimon may not be particularly strong, but he's shrewd. What concerns me is the end game. Why do this and run away? To split the digidestined up? Specifically me and Davis? Why?"
"That is a bit odd." Said Ken. "But you are right, this isn't our enemies usual play, this time they're being very discreet. They usually pop out on their own."
BZZZZZ
"What is that?!" Exclaimed Kari.
"I've heard that sound before..." Said Matt.
I looked out towards the horizon and saw some flying digimon coming towards us.
"Snimon! And they're 6 of them!" I yelled.
"Everyone digivolve!"
"Patamon digivolve to...Angemon!"
"Wormmon digivolve to...Stingmon!"
"Gabumon digivolve to...Garurumon!"
"Digi armor energize!" "Gatomon armor digivolve to...Nefertimon!"
"Take'em down!"

"Veemon digivolve to...X Veemon!"
Agumon digivolve to...Greymon!
"Armadillomon digivolve to...Ankylomon!"
"Digi armor energize!" "Hawkmon armor digivolve to...Halsemon!
"Where did the Snimon come from?!" Exclaimed Cody
"Doesn't matter now, we have to destroy them!" Said Tai.

"There's more coming!" Yelled Matt.
"What's going on? Why are they attacking us?!" Exclaimed Ken.
Two Snimon charged against Garurumon, knocking him over.
"They're gonna pay for that.." Growled Garurumon.
"Garurumon look out!" Yelled Matt.
Stingmon came crashing down from the sky knocking into Garurumon. Both ended up de-digivolving.
"There must be at least. a dozen!" I yelled. "
"Rosetta stone!" Nefertimon attacked, deleting one Snimon.
"Hand of Fate!" Angemon attacked taking down two Snimon. Two more Snimon took their place and went to attack Angemon with their claws. Angemon countered by blocking with his staff.
"We need help." Grumbled Ken.
"I'm contacting the others right now." Said Matt.
"Hurry or else we're gonna be-AHHHHH" yelled Nefertimon, falling from the sky de-digivolving to Gatomon.

"Matt and the others need our help!" Exclaimed Cody.
"What?! Them too?!" Said Yolie.
All the Snimon gathered together and started to fly away.
"Don't let them get away, we have to destroy them!" I yelled.
"There's no time Davis! The others need us." Said Tai.
"Where are they going though?" I responded.
"Towards the others, let's go guys!"

"T.k!"
I turned around and saw Kari running from two snimon coming after her.
"ANGEMON, PROTECT HER!" I yelled while running towards Kari.
Angemon managed to knock both Snimon away and started to fly towards Kari. Then 3 other Snimon came and knocked away Angemon.
BZZZZZZZZ
I turned to see 7 more Snimon coming at us.
"T.K!"
3 Snimon surrounded Kari. They raised their claws slwoly. I knew what was about to happen. I ran towards her as fast as I could, their claws coming down faster than I could run.
Then the claws sank into the ground, creating a large amount of dust. They killed her.
"KARIIIIIIIIIIIIII!"
