Hey guys MT here

How did you guys like Asuna becoming a familiar? Not expecting that were you?

To be honest I never planned on making her more than another harem member, but after I created Gwen I just couldn't help myself.

I hope you guys will like her as much as I do and watch as she slowly becomes as strong as Saito...well maybe not that strong.

Anyways ENJOY!

Chapter 16

The next day…

"Thanks for coming, Julio," said Louise as Julio got off of his wind dragon. Julio walked up to Louise and took her hand in his before bringing it up to his lips.

"It's a pleasure to see you again, Miss Louise," said Julio in a loving voice, causing Louise to blush, lightly. Saito glared at the two and pouted at the fact that Louise was still weak to Julio's type. "So, I heard that the new Vindalfr has been chosen."

"Y-Yes, this is Asuna, she's one of Saito's friends from his world," said Louise as she gestured towards Asuna. Julio walked over to Asuna and bowed before picking up her hand and kissing its back. Asuna stared at Julio, completely unfazed by the action and Julio looked up, a bit confused by the fact that his charm was blocked.

"Julio Cesare, my dear," said Julio, loving, still trying to get her to react.

"Asuna. It's very nice to meet you," said Asuna, dryly. Damn, she wasn't kidding when she said she would never like another guy, thought Saito, a bit shocked by her coldness towards Julio. Saito blushed a bit at his ex-girlfriend's loyalty to him even though he had a wife.

"Seems you are quite loyal to whoever you have in your heart. That's good," said Julio, a grin on his face. Asuna cracked a small smile and glanced over at Saito, which did not go unnoticed by Julio, but he chose to keep quiet.

"So, what exactly would you like to know?" asked Julio, a bit excited to move on.

"Well…so far I have learned that I can talk to animals and I can control them. Like yesterday I made some birds do a cool dance in the air, but other than that I have no idea what other powers I have or how to control them," said Asuna, as a bird came down and landed on her shoulder.

"Well, there are a few other powers, though; I couldn't really master them because I'm not the most strong-willed person out there. Truthfully, I'm not quite sure why I was chosen as Vindalfr when the premise of their powers is using their willpower as fuel," explained Julio.

"So what are they? The quicker we focus on training Asuna, the better prepared she will be when Ivarod makes another move," said Saito, not in the mood to deal with Julio beating around the bush.

"Yes, forgive me. The powers of Vindalfr are: control over the minds of animals, animal-speak, transformation, mind-sharing, and absorption," said Julio, bluntly.

"Explain," said Louise, dryly.

"The first two are those that Miss Asuna has already unlocked, though the first is one she will have to strengthen, and the other three she will unlock as she trains. Transformation means that she will be able to transform into animals that are in her view, whether they are drawings or in front of her. Mind-sharing means that she is able to use the minds of animals she has interacted with for things such as recon, like using the eyes of a bird or insect to spy on people. Finally, absorption means that she literally absorbs the powers of animals, therefore increasing her senses and physical power," explained Julio, a bit of a playful expression on his face.

Everyone stared at Julio in amazement at the large number of powers they hadn't realized that Vindalfr could have. Asuna went up to Julio and grabbed him by the collar and pulled his face close to hers.

"Teach. Me," said Asuna, calmly. Julio grinned wildly at her order and he nodded causing her to smile and release him before jumping up, excitedly.

Six weeks later…

"The four familiars are: Gandalfr, the left hand of God; Vindalfr, the right hand of God; Lifdrasir, the heart of God; and Myoznitnirn, the mind of God," said Asuna, reading off of a sign nearly a football field away.

Saito whistled in amazement and walked up next to Asuna.

"Damn that eyesight is good. Who did you absorb it from?" asked Saito, surprised that she read the sign exactly as he had written it. The sign wasn't even big; it was like 3 feet by 3 feet.

"Goat. I tested it with several animals and realized that they have pretty good vision," said Asuna before turning to Saito, startling him after seeing that her eyes had changed shape to a more horizontal, rectangular shape. "What? Creeped out?"

Asuna grinned at Saito, deviously, and watched as he squirmed under her gaze. She then morphed her eyes back and Saito could see them compress back into their circular pupil shape. Asuna giggled at him when she saw him sigh in relief.

"Teeheehee, you're so cute Saito," said Asuna before clinging onto Saito's arm, causing him to jump at her sudden contact and blush, violently, in embarrassment.

"SAITO!" shouted Louise after popping out of a World Door.

"L-Louise! Uh…" began Saito before pushing Asuna off of him. "W-What's wrong, my love?"

"Stop getting so touchy feely with her! We have to take her back to Tokyo again today," said Louise as she stepped out of the portal. She smacked Saito across the head for being touchy with another girl and pouted. Saito and Louise had gone with Asuna to tell her mom about what happened two days after she appeared in Halkeginia.

FLASHBACK…

Louise, Saito, and Asuna all exited the World Door and found themselves on the street in front of Saito's house. The three walked over to Asuna's house to inform her mother about what was going on and found her mother outside, hysterically explaining to an officer that her daughter disappeared.

"Mom!" shouted Asuna before running over to her mother. Asuna's mother jumped for joy and hugged her daughter, tightly, while the officer smiled and began to walk away, knowing that everything was now alright.

"Asuna…Asuna…my beautiful daughter. Where have you been?! It's been two days!" shouted Asuna's mother while crying and crushing her daughter in a hug.

"Mom, relax. I was with Saito," said Asuna before glancing back at Saito. Asuna's mother followed her daughter's eyes and smiled at Saito and Louise for bringing her back. "Mom, can we go inside? I need to talk to you about something."

Asuna's mother nodded and beckoned everyone inside as she wiped her tears. Her mother set out tea for everyone and Asuna, Louise, and Saito sat down on the sofa, opposite Asuna's mother.

"Mom, firstly, I need to show you something," said Asuna. She lifted up her right hand, showing off her runes. Asuna's mother gasped and she leaned over the table to grab her daughter's hand.

"ASUNA! What have I told you about getting a tattoo, young lady?! And such a strange design, too. You're going to regret it later on!" shouted Asuna's mother, annoyed at her daughter for getting a tattoo.

"Mom, it's not a tattoo. Saito has one, too," said Asuna, giggling a bit at her mother's assumption. Saito held up his left hand to show his runes and Asuna's mother sat back down with a confused expression. "Remember how Saito and Louise have been living in a different world? Well I was there. I have to be there for awhile because apparently something bad is happening and they need my help."

"Oh, Asuna, what kind of fantasies have they been telling you? That thing that took you away was quite strange, though," said Asuna's mother, obviously disbelieving her daughter's words.

Saito glanced at Louise who nodded and she opened a World Door, showing Julio standing in the courtyard of the Tristain Academy.

"Why hello there, Miss Asuna. Is it safe to assume this is your beautiful mother?" asked Julio as he smiled between the two. Asuna nodded and Julio bowed to Asuna's mother who waved back, still a bit shocked. "I will see you when you get back, Miss Asuna."

Julio winked at Asuna, who rolled her eyes at him, before Louise closed the World Door.

"Asuna! Why didn't you tell me you found such a handsome man for yourself?" asked Asuna's mother, obviously excited that her daughter was back in the dating world.

"Tch, please, mom. Saito's the only one for me," said Asuna, lovingly, before she clung onto Saito. Louise shoved her off of Saito in annoyance and sat between them, causing Asuna to pout at them.

"What am I going to do with you?" sighed Asuna's mother, in annoyance. "What did you say before about going back?"

"She needs to come back because she is needed in our world. If she doesn't come back something bad could happen that Louise and I may not be able to handle alone," explained Saito. Asuna's mother stared at Saito with a serious face as she processed this. Asuna's mother let out a 'Hmm' as she thought and her face grew worried.

"Saito, I trust you quite a bit. I've known you all your life and I know you're a good man. I have two conditions to allow Asuna to go with you. First, I need you to protect her and make sure nothing happens to her. Second, she needs to come back home once a week to see me. I don't care which day it is as long as she comes home so that I can make sure she's okay. It's okay if you can't come one week but you have to tell me beforehand so that I don't get too worried," said Asuna's mother, sternly. Saito nodded with a serious expression and Asuna's mother smiled, weakly. She walked over to her daughter and hugged her tight. "Good luck, honey. I trust you'll be safe and please remember to come back to see your old mom."

"I will mom…I love you," said Asuna, lovingly, as she hugged her mother, tightly.

"I love you, too, honey," said Asuna's mother, lovingly.

END FLASHBACK…

As Saito, Louise, and Asuna entered the World Door they found themselves on Asuna's doorstep and went inside.

"Mom! I'm home," shouted Asuna as everyone entered.

"Oh! Hello, dear. How have you been?" asked Asuna's mother.

"Good, who's that?" asked Asuna as she walked up to her mother who had a small Capuchin monkey on her shoulder. She was handing him a plum to eat and he held it in his small hands. Asuna came up to the small creature and stuck her finger out as a greeting and he grabbed it with his free hand.

"His name is Chichi. The shelter found him in a cardboard box nearby and I have been nursing it back up. So far it's fine but I thought I'd keep it around to show you," explained Asuna's mother.

"Awwww, hey little guy. How are you feeling?" asked Asuna, sweetly. The monkey cooed, lightly, at her and she smiled at it. "I'm glad you're feeling alright. We wouldn't want you getting sick."

"He's so cute," said Louise as she came to get a closer look at Chichi. She stuck out her finger at him and hopped up her arm and sat on her head to finish eating his plum. "Eep! Get him off!"

Everyone laughed at Louise's reaction and they only laughed harder when Chichi finished his plum and burped. Asuna stuck her hand out and he climbed on before leaping onto her shoulder and she began scratching his chin.

"You're so adorable," cooed Asuna and Chichi began to purred in satisfaction as he was scratched.

After a few seconds, Asuna' runes began to glow and Chichi froze in place.

"Huh?" said Asuna, confused by the sudden situation. The room began to fill with a bright light and Chichi was enveloped in a bluish light. After around a minute, the light in the room completely subsided and when they looked at Chichi again, he had brown fur with a bluish tinge and his face had some golden markings and a small silvery sword shape on his forehead. "Chichi?"

Chichi began to squeak and screech while throwing his arms around as if he was surprised by the sudden change. Asuna nodded and threw out the occasional 'Mhm' in acknowledgement and the conversation continued for some time.

"Chichi says that his name is actually Telumflinger. He's from Halkeginia and is a magical tool that was created by the Valkyrie for the first Vindalfr. He can transform between a dagger, metal claws, and a small circular shield. He said he isn't sure how he got here but when he did he lost his powers for awhile and was close to death until mom found him," translated Asuna. Everyone was surprised by the development and Derf decided to pop out.

"Telu?! The hell are you doing here? You stupid little monkey, abandoning us when the going got tough. You know that Vindalfr died when you left us right?" shouted Derf in annoyance at the monkey. The monkey screeched a few times in annoyance and Asuna translated again.

"He said he didn't and that Vindalfr said he didn't need 'a stupid, useless monkey's help' and threw him out in a nearby forest," said Asuna. Derf let out a 'Tch' and slid back into his scabbard in annoyance.

"Well, Asuna, looks like we found you your weapon," said Saito, calmly. With the things Saito had seen, he's not easily surprised anymore.

"W-Well, I'm glad Chichi is going to get a good home at least. Oh! I almost forgot, dinner is ready, you all must be famished," said Asuna's mother before running over to the kitchen. The group followed her in after and proceeded to eat dinner, peacefully.

Seems we'll be getting lots of surprises from Asuna, thought Saito with a smug expression at the surprises in store.

So?

A new familiar gains her ancient weapon. Asuna's mother reacts much better than how you think she would.
