Chapter 28
The next morning…
"Unhhh…" groaned Saito as his eyes cracked open after the morning sunlight burning through them. Saito attempted to lift up his arm so that he could rub his eyes with his hands but noticed that there was a weight on his side. When he glanced over to his side he saw silver hair glittering in the morning light. "Asuna?"
The person rustled at the sound of her name and she lifted her head up and rested her chin on Saito's chest, looking at him with sleepy eyes.
"Mmm…g'mornin' Saito," said Asuna, innocently. Saito cocked a brow at the girl and she tilted her head, curious by his expression.
"Why are you here?" asked Saito, plainly.
"I was visiting Gwen's room since she woke up yesterday. Her room is a couple down from yours and, when I left, it was late. I was too lazy to go to my room, which is far, so I came here," said Asuna in a tone as if that was obvious. Saito sighed in annoyance and attempted to shrug her off of him.
"Troublesome girl," Saito breathed out at her response. "Asuna, I'm married to Louise, I'm not going to do anything with you."
Asuna pushed out her bottom lip in an adorable pout and gazed at Saito with big puppy eyes.
"But Saitoooooo. I want some love too!" whined Asuna, so adorably that it could kill a man. Saito sighed again and rolled his eyes at her causing Asuna to widen her eyes and puff out her lip further. "Pweaseeee?"
Gosh dammnit! Why does this girl have to do this to me? thought Saito in annoyance.
"FINE!" shouted Saito in annoyance. Asuna bounced excitedly and closed her eyes before puckering up her lips. Saito rolled his eyes before kissing her, lightly, on her forehead. Asuna's eyes flickered open and she puffed out her cheeks.
"That's not what I meant!" shouted Asuna in annoyance. Saito was unable to hold in his snickers at her childish reaction and Asuna growled in annoyance. She looked away from Saito, blushing, and muttered out, "Stupid Saito."
"By the way, I don't know how appealing you think you are with that cast, but obviously not enough for me to have done what you wanted. Also, you're stabbing my stomach with your cast," complained Saito. Asuna muttered out a flustered 'I'm sorry' and moved so that her cast wasn't piercing into Saito's stomach. They were now in a more suggestive position as Asuna was lying on top of him, her face uncomfortably close to his.
"U-Uh…" said Saito, blushing in embarrassment. Asuna was having the same reaction until they heard the door opening.
"Saitooo~ Mr. Colbert gave me a wheelchair so I could visit-" said Louise, happily before being cut off when she noticed the situation in the room. Behind her was Siesta who must have been transported her over here to visit Saito. Siesta and Louise were both frozen in place as they inspected the scene while both Saito and Asuna looked back at them, Saito wearing a frightened face at what the women might do to them.
Suddenly, enormous red flames appeared behind Siesta and her eyes glowed as she glared fiercely at Saito.
"Saitoooo~! What the hell do you think you're doing getting intimate with a woman other than Miss Vallière or I?" said Siesta with a demonic voice. Saito began to sweat in fear and was thinking about how fast he would be able to reach the window and jump out. As Siesta walked around Louise's wheelchair, preparing to kill Saito, Louise threw her arm out in front of the maid, effectively halting her. "Miss Vallière?"
"Wait Siesta. S-S-S-Saito w-w-w-wouldn't do something like this freely. Yes, yes, he's a good husband. L-L-Let's give him a moment to explain," said Louise, stuttering the way she does when she is about to snap.
"L-Louise, it's not what you think. I woke up and Asuna was already here," said Saito, afraid for his life.
"See, Siesta? I knew it wasn't his fault. It's this s-s-s-s-stupid girl trying to steal my Saito," said Louise, a bit relieved but now furious at the girl laying atop her husband.
"I told you that I want to have fun with Saito too! Now that you've ruined our alone time, though, I'll just have to do this and leave," said Asuna before turning to Saito again. She passionately kissed Saito, surprising him and causing enormous flames to flare up behind Siesta and Louise. Asuna released Saito's lips with a pop, a string of saliva connecting their lips. She grinned and noticed the two girls slowly stomping over to her and she winked at the still shocked Saito before leaping out of the bed. "Kangaroo time!"
When Asuna shouted that she opened the window and leapt out. Louise and Siesta went over to the window to see the girl they both wanted to kill land on the ground and bounce up and down a few times before running away.
"Man, Partner! You keep getting love from all the girls! First that Gallia queen and now a fellow familiar," said Derf while chuckling.
"DERF!" shouted Saito before throwing the closest object at his talking sword. The item effectively knocked Derf over and he hit the floor while saying 'Oomph' before Louise and Siesta slowly turned to him.
"So you were getting chummy with Tabitha, too?" asked Louise in a dangerously low tone.
"W-Wait, Louise! Tabitha did that when I was trying to fall asleep! I had nothing to do with it!" shouted Saito, trying to defend himself.
"This dog husband of mine must be put in his place," said Louise with glowing eyes. Siesta, whose eyes were also glowing, pulled out a whip and handed it to Louise before pushing her over to Saito. Saito whined in fear and tried to scramble out of his bed which caused him to fall on the floor. He scrambled towards a window but heard a click and when he turned around, he saw Louise using her wand to lock the windows and doors. "This dog husband of mine shall not escape."
"L-Louise?" began Saito as she closed in. "Louise?"
Saito squeaked out her name a couple times but it was no use. She was going to kill him. She made it to him and flung her arm with the whip. The camera flashed to outside of the door and you could only hear a whip crack and some yelping coming from inside the room.
Poor Saito.
"Ugh…It's too early for Saito to be having shenanigans…" groaned Gwen who was awoken by the sounds of a whip cracking and yelps and screams of pain.
Gwen moved around when she heard the door creak open and noticed a familiar face peeking in from the door.
"Uncle?" asked Gwen, surprised that King Harold was visiting her.
(Note: Gwen thinks of Harold as her Uncle since he and her father were like brothers before he died)
"My dear Gwendolyn!" said King Harold in an overjoyed tone. He slipped into the room and closed it before jogging over to her bedside and taking her hand. "How do you feel, my dear? Are you in pain?"
"I'm fine, Uncle. I just have a bit of a headache. Ivarod did use a very powerful attack on my head. The doctors said that if he had had more magical power, like the amount he used on Tiffa, then it would have killed me instantly. I'm very lucky," said Gwen, nervously. She obviously didn't like thinking about what could have happened to her.
"Oh, my dear Gwendolyn! You cannot believe how frightened I was when they brought you in. I saw how your face was covered in blood from the injury and, when I asked, they said that you had multiple fractures in your head. I was afraid my young one would not make it," said King Harold, sobbing over Gwen. She blushed, embarrassed by his exaggerated reaction as he knows that the best water mages were coming to help them.
Gwen patted her Uncle's head in reassurance as his sobs died down and he wiped his eyes while sniffling.
"I'm sorry, my dear. It's just…I promised your father and mother that I would protect you. I could never face them again, even in the next world, if I let you die, especially at such a young age. I was reluctant to let you participate in the war, but I thought it would be okay because you were more of a supporter, what with your healing and all. I assumed you would kept back from the line of fire while healing people, but then when you went to heal a fallen comrade, you were injured because you were unguarded in front of the enemy," rambled King Harold. His voice dropped into a kind of whisper as he continued to mutter to himself, incoherently, and Gwen prodded her Uncle to get his attention.
"Uncle, please do not worry yourself about it. I'm alright now and, because of my participation, many people's lives were saved. I know that you wish to care for me as if I was still the little girl from when you first took me in, but I am strong now. Let me support myself with my own strength and you worry about your issues," said Gwen, sweetly. Harold paused for a moment, staring at her, as he processed her words. His grip on her hand tightened and he smiled, lightly.
"Yes, my dear. I will let you support yourself as much as I can. Forgive this old man. No matter how old you get…" began Harold, his free hand going over to brush his fingers across her cheek. "You will always be the heartbroken little girl from the day I took you in."
Gwen smiled at his words and leaned her face into his hand while gripping his other hand.
"I love you, Uncle," said Gwen, happily.
"I love you, too, my dear little Gwendolyn."
So? What did you think?
I know what I thought.
MUST KEEP LIGHT-HEARTEDNESS!
I'm kinda having a hard time since my personality requires me to throw a dagger in something to get things a bit serious, but I want to have a nice long cooling down period after all the serious antics of the war.
Also, do you guys think I should bring in some japanese into the mix? I really wanted to try adding honorifics, for example, but I'm not sure how you guys would like me changing it so far in. Let me know
Anyways, until next time...byeee :D
