Chapter 33
"So…" began Saito after they left the store. "We somehow managed to spend 120,000 yen, in one day…"
"Is that a lot?" asked Louise, clueless to how much that actually was.
"That's like two months of food for a large family in my world. Two months, and you spent it in 5 hours," said Saito, dragging his hands across his face. Never, never, had he ever thought he could spend such a large amount of money in so little time. Before he came to Halkeginia, Saito struggled just to get enough money for his everyday needs, never spending more than a few thousand yen a day.
"Are you mad, Saito?" asked Louise, feeling a bit bad. Saito glanced at her and noticed her frown, causing him to quickly try to reassure her.
"No, no! I'm not mad! I just never thought I'd ever be spending so much money in one day. It doesn't really matter, though, we're basically rich," said Saito, calmly, reassuring Louise. She put on a bright smile and inspected her new items. She was wearing the knee length jeans, black tank top, and collarless blue shirt which fell past her shoulder. She also bought some jewelry that she had found in a shop. One of them was a gold necklace with a small gold charm at the end that was in the shape of a yin-yang symbol. Saito had also bought her a thin gold ring that was laced with diamonds which she was wearing on her right middle finger. The last thing Louise bought were some silver bracelets with different words written on them in Japanese like 'Good Fortune', 'Happiness', and 'Love'. The bracelets jingled on her wrist as she skipped contently next to Saito, their fingers intertwined.
"So, where should we go next? There's a lot here in Tokyo, right?" asked Louise, curiously. Saito looked at his watch and noticed that it was already getting late and decided that they would continue their expeditions the next day.
"Tomorrow, I'll take you to a theme park that's pretty cool. It's kind of like a festival that happens every day but you have to pay to get in. I think you'll like it," said Saito, smiling brightly. Louise smiled back and pecked him on the cheek before the two made their way back home, taking the subway which still fascinated Louise to no end.
Meanwhile in Halkeginia…
Asuna and her mother had been teleported to Romalia yesterday, after receiving the translation device from the Valkyrie. Asuna was currently showing her mother around the festival, the two having a great time as they went around. After a while, they ran into Henrietta and Agnes, who were still enjoying the festival.
"Oh! Hello, Asuna. Who is this?" asked Henrietta, kindly, gesturing to Asuna's mother.
"Oh, hello milady. This is my mother. Mom, this is the queen that Saito follows, Queen Henrietta," said Asuna, gesturing to Henrietta.
"Oh, what an honor. Hello Henrietta-sama," said Asuna's mom as she bowed. "You can call me Chifuyu."
"Hello, Chifuyu-dono. It is very nice to meet you," said Henrietta as she returned the bow.
"Milady, have you seen nee-san and Uncle?" asked Asuna, wanting to introduce her mother to her adopted family.
"Asuna, you really don't need to be so formal. You are fellow royalty. Please call me Henrietta. Also, I last saw Gwen and King Harold in the plaza near the cafes. I believe they were going to have an early dinner," said Henrietta, causing Asuna to smile in excitement. She hadn't been able to find Gwen or Harold in the mess of the festival and she was itching to see her adopted family again.
"Thank you, Henrietta-san. I'll be by to say hi again later," said Asuna, happily, before dragging her mom with her towards the plaza. Her mother waved awkwardly at Henrietta and the two disappeared into the crowd.
"Everyone is so lively lately. First Saito-dono and now Asuna," said Henrietta, giggling lightly.
"Well, milady, now that the war is over, it's good to be lively," said Agnes, a rare smile on her face.
Asuna guided her mother through the crowded streets, pausing only when they saw the odd street performer performing amazing magical spectacles.
The two finally reached the plaza and it only took minutes for Asuna to see Gwen sitting at one of the tables, though she was alone. Asuna dragged her mother through the crowd and broke out just a few feet from Gwen's table.
"Gwen-nee-san!" shouted Asuna, catching Gwen's attention. Gwen waved at her adopted sister, standing up as she did so, and smiled brightly.
"Asuna-nee! I haven't seen you in a couple days," said Gwen when Asuna was close enough. Asuna broke from her mother and she and Gwen exchanged a tight hug. "Where have you been?"
"I went to Japan to check in with mom and then I brought her here and was showing her around the festival. Gwen-nee-san, this is my mother, Chifuyu. Mom, this is my adopted sister, Gwen," introduced Asuna, gesturing between Gwen and her mother. Both bowed to each other, offering up hellos and they all sat down at the table.
"So, how has the festival been with Uncle Harold?" asked Asuna, all of them sitting down at the large table.
"It's been good. I haven't seen him in a long time so we've been catching up. I really missed him," said Gwen, a bright smile gracing her features. Gwen and Asuna quickly became entranced in a conversation, to which Chifuyu listened closely in order to learn about her daughter's life here in Halkeginia. After several minutes, though, the conversation was interrupted.
"Gwendolyn, I'm sorry I took so long in the rest room, I- Oh my. Asuna, when did you return?" asked Harold after reaching the table.
"Hello, Uncle. I had gone back to my world to bring my mother here to Halkeginia. This is my mother, Chifuyu," said Asuna as she turned and gestured to her mother. "Mom, this is King Harold from the country Gwen and I serve."
Harold turned to Chifuyu and was about to greet her until something caught his eye and he froze.
"Uncle?" said Gwen and Asuna in unison, confused by his reaction.
"My dear," said Harold as he moved to Chifuyu's side and knelt down. "Such a beautiful flower has presented itself before me, and I must honor it. My name is Harold Cheshire di Albion; it is honor to meet you, Miss Chifuyu."
"Oh my, the honor is all mine, King Harold," said Chifuyu, flirting back at him.
"Oh. My. Gosh. Uncle Harold is hitting on my mother. My adopted father is hitting on my mother," said Asuna, completely horrified.
"I'm so sorry," said Gwen, just as horrified. The two stared blankly at the flirty 40-year-olds in front of them, as they became entranced in a long conversation.
Back to Tokyo…
"Mom! We're back!" shouted Saito as he and Louise entered Saito's house.
"Welcome back, Saito!" said Aki as she walked towards them, crossing them in the living room. "Oh, Louise! You look so stylish!"
"Thank you, Aki. Saito helped me pick it out," said Louise, happily.
"Oh, come now dear. I'm your mother now, too. Please call me mom," said Aki, happily, before gently hugging Louise.
"Alright, mother," said Louise, smiling, brightly.
"So, what's for dinner?" asked Saito while licking his lips.
"Oh, Saito! Is that all you think about?" scolded Aki, annoyed that the moment with Louise was interrupted.
"We're men, dear. We need food," said Kurata as he came down the stairs. "Ah, Louise, you look quite attractive in those clothes. Saito is a lucky man to have someone like you as his wife."
"Thank you, father," said Louise, blushing a bit from the comment.
"Anyways, dinner is ready so let's eat," said Aki after clapping her hands together.
Later that night…
"So, Saito," said Louise as the two laid in bed, facing each other.
"Mmm…?" moaned Saito, already drifting to sleep.
"Will we do things like this again? You know, after you start getting busy with your duties as a Duke?" asked Louise, poking her index fingers together.
"'f course, love. I'll always *yawn* make time for you. Al…ways…" said Saito, finally being captured by sleep. Louise smiled at her sleeping husband and leaned in to give him a light kiss before snuggling into him.
"Thank you, Saito. I love you," said Louise, happily, before allowing sleep to take her as well.
So? Cute ending? Rushed ending? I think it was rushed.
Sorry about that.
Anyways, Review and let me know what you thought and look forward to the theme park trip next chapter.
Until next time...byeee :D
