Hey guys, MT here!

How's everyone doing? Hopefully you're in a good mood, and forgiving, because I have written another short chapter. I'M SORRY!

I don't know why, but I chose to write this chapter at the end of the three chapters I post for my three stories each week. My brain was crying. I basically had the idea for this chapter in my head but was running out of things to write about without cutting into the next segment.

Anyways, before I give up too much, ENJOY!

Chapter 34

A clear ringing sounded in the air, waking Saito from his slumber. He was laying with Louise, who was snuggled into his chest, and had his arm wrapped around her waist. Saito groaned at the rings and threw his uninhibited arm to the nightstand next to the bed, hitting the ringing object. He hit it a couple more times, thinking it was his alarm clock but wore a confused expression when he realized what he was touching.

Saito picked up the small object and pulled it in front of his face, inspecting it. It was a small golden ball with an intricate design and had rings that glowed a light blue. Saito's eyes widened when he realized what it meant. The object was given to him by the Valkyrie when he had obtained the translator for Asuna's mom. It was a magical device which would allow two people to communicate over any distance, even between worlds. It was to serve as a way to call Saito and Louise in case of some kind of emergency. It was only a distress signal, though, and they couldn't really have any kind of actual communication.

"Love," said Saito, while gently nudging Louise. He shut off the ringing object as Louise stirred before lifting her head and standing her head on her chin on Saito's chest.

"G'morning, Saito," said Louise, groggily, causing Saito to smile. She beamed back and leaned in for a quick 'Good morning' kiss and the two broke.

"Louise, they called us," said Saito, showing the small orb to her. Louise took a moment to process his words and then laid her cheek against Saito's chest, sighing in annoyance.

"But our vacation just started," whined Louise, causing Saito to chuckle to himself.

"Don't worry, love. We'll go, deal with whatever they need, and come back. I promise," said Saito, holding Louise tighter to him.

"Promise?" said Louise, childishly. Saito smiled at her and kissed the top of her head before murmuring 'Promise' to reassure her.

The two remained in said position for a few minutes before moving to get dressed, putting on their normal Halkeginian clothes.

"World Door!" shouted Louise as she opened a portal. The two weaved their fingers together before moving through the portal.

"Milady," began Agnes as she and Henrietta walked through the halls of the hospital. "We don't really need to call those two back for something like this, do we? This is hardly an issue."

"I am fully aware that this is a minor issue, however, I believe Saito-dono would want to deal with this himself," said Henrietta. The two were suddenly forced to stop when they saw a bright light appear before them, opening into a large, elliptical portal. Louise and Saito walked out of it before it closed and faded away.

"Princess-sama, you summoned us?" asked Louise, bowing in front of Henrietta.

"You may rise, Louise. Yes, I called you both. Saito-dono," began Henrietta before turning to Saito. "Toriyama has awoken. I believed you would want to speak with him immediately."

Saito stiffened a bit at her words and remained silent. He turned around and began to walk from them.

"His room is this way, right? Let's go!" shouted Saito, obviously no longer calm. The three women sped up and caught up to him before Agnes directed him to Toriyama's room.

They stood in front of his door, Saito debating what he should do. Louise grabbed his hand, calming his frayed nerves and she smiled when he looked at her.

"We'll go in alone," said Louise, speaking for Saito. "Princess-sama, Agnes, please do not disturb us."

Henrietta nodded, sharply, and Saito opened the door, allowing he and Louise to enter before shutting it behind him.

The room was silent. Saito looked across the room to Toriyama who was sitting in his bed, staring at Saito with blank eyes.

Louise nudged Saito, causing his limbs to unfreeze and he began to walk towards Toriyama's bed. Louise followed behind him, trying to remain quiet in order to allow Saito to think.

"Saito…" said Toriyama when Saito stopped at the foot of Toriyama's bed.

"Toriyama…" said Saito, trying to remain calm.

"Do you hate me?" asked Toriyama, his eyes still blank, still dead.

"You almost killed my wife, endangered my friends, helped lead a war against my new home, tried to kill me on several occasions, and threatened to attack our friends and my family in Japan. I should hate you and have every right to," said Saito through clenched teeth.

"Should?" echoed Toriyama, confusion filling the void in his eyes.

"Despite everything that you did…I don't know why I can't bring myself to hate you. I'm still furious with you, but I don't hate you," said Saito, clenching his fists. Louise placed a calming hand on his arm, causing him to relax his tensed position.

Saito looked back up to Toriyama and staggered a bit at what he saw. Toriyama's eyes were filled with a mixture of all sorts of emotions and tears streamed down his face in rivers.

"Why? Why can't you hate me? You should hate me!" cried Toriyama, eliciting confused expressions from Saito and Louise. "If you hated me…If you did, then it would be justified. No one would be angry with you for doing it. It would be okay."

"What would be okay?" asked Saito, hoping for clarification.

"Killing me! I want you to kill me!" shouted Toriyama, shocking Saito and Louise.

"Why…?" began Saito, shocked by his ex-friend's sudden suicidal outburst.

"I've lost everything important to me. My real parents are long dead, I know that Ivarod was killed by you, I've betrayed you and Asuna and all the rest of our old friends. I'm shunned by all of this world, I could never make it in Japan since all I've done is train to be in this world. I'm worthless, my ambitions crushed, my dreams shattered. I basically have nothing to live for so I just want to die," said Toriyama, drooping in sadness. Saito stared at his ex-friend in pity. It was all true. Toriyama had lost his adopted father which seemed to be the last form of family Toriyama had. On top of that, he had basically given his life to Ivarod to become a tool to help him. Now that that was gone, what was he supposed to do?

"You really shouldn't think that way, Toriyama," said Saito, sternly.

"SHUT THE HELL UP! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I'VE GONE THROUGH! THE THINGS I'VE GIVEN UP!" shouted Toriyama, angrily, causing Saito to stagger back. Toriyama panted from his shouting and silence reined until a loud slap echoed in the room.

Louise had slapped Toriyama, snapping him out of his rage and causing him to wear a confused expression.

"I don't care," began Louise. "I don't care what you lost or gave up, but don't act as though Saito has had a perfect life and hasn't had to deal with any loss!"

"Louise…" said Saito, reaching towards her.

"Saito has dealt with so much…I pulled him from his home, from his family, not even sure if he could ever return. I treated him like an animal and he was beat, worked to death, and treated like garbage for months. Then he gave up his life to save us during a war. He suffered! He went through watching soldiers die, having to save me many times. He's risked his life every day, trying to protect his friends and working hard so that no one would ever have to die in front of him again," said Louise, causing Toriyama's expression to soften. When she finished, Toriyama turned away from her, clicking his tongue.

"Toriyama," began Saito after some silence, catching Toriyama's attention. "You said you could never make it in Japan, but how do you know?"

Toriyama turned to look at Saito with surprise in his eyes. He had a feeling he knew where Saito was going with that.

"Come back with me to Japan, we can meet with our old friends, and you can try to live again," said Saito, causing Toriyama's eyes to widen.

"Y-You can't be serious," said Toriyama, the disbelief evident in his voice.

"If you really don't want to go, or you go and feel like you don't belong, then I can always tell Henrietta to shove you in a prison for the rest of your life," said Saito, jokingly.

Toriyama was silent for a moment, pondering the idea. After a minute or so, he looked back up at Saito.

"If I don't feel comfortable, lock me up without a second thought," said Toriyama. Saito grinned and stretched over to Toriyama, hand raised. They shook hands and a small smile appeared on Toriyama's face.

So? I know it was short but what do you think about it?

Was Saito too quick to forgive Toriyama? I never really saw Saito as one to hold a grudge (unless against a guy who hit on Louise [ahem...Griffin Knight]). So it wasn't too hard to make him forgive him, however I don't know if it was too quick. Let me know.

Other than that, Review and let me know what you've thought about the chapter and story so far and any ideas you guys have.

Oh! Before I forget, to the who asked for a lemon, you have brought out my dirty thoughts, so expect one in the coming chapters :3

Anyways, until next time...byeee :D
