Chapter 40
Two days later…
"So that is what is going to be happening," finished Henrietta as she explained the situation to Saito and Louise.
"Alright, so basically we are going to take the new Void mage into Des Ornières and have Louise, Gwen, and Tiffa come to help her understand her powers and how to use them," repeated Saito, receiving a nod from Henrietta and a smile. "Well, I guess it's no problem but I also need to get started with learning the duties of being a Duke. Also, why the secrecy with this new Void mage?"
"About your Duke status, your main job right now will be to oversee the training of the new Void mage and increase the amount of money your Duchy is making. Des Ornières vine production is very good but not enough to support the Duchy. On the lines of secrecy…we wish to keep the knowledge about her limited in order to protect her until she is strong enough to protect herself," explained Henrietta, seriously. Saito nodded, a serious expression on his face, and Henrietta continued. "Alright, we will bring her in and you two will travel back to Des Ornières via World Door. Guards, please bring her in!"
Within minutes, the door reopened after the guards had left and in came Bidashal and a beautiful, young Valkyrie.
"Hello Miss Vallière, Sir Gandalfr," said Bidashal, bowing, slightly, to them. Saito and Louise muttered out greetings and attention turned to the young Valkyrie. "Please, Miss, introduce yourself to the people who will be taking care of you for awhile."
"Umm…yes. Um, hello, my name is Tenshi…Aingeal…um, Tenshi Aingeal. It's very nice to meet you," said Tenshi before bowing, deeply.
"Hello, Tenshi. I'm Saito," said Saito before bowing. "I'm the familiar of a Void mage, such as yourself."
"Hello Miss Aingeal. My name is Louise Francoise. You can just call me Louise," said Louise before curtsying to Tenshi.
"U-Um…then you should just call me Tenshi," said Tenshi before bowing again.
"Alright, now if you would please follow them, Miss Aingeal, they will take you to your new home," said Bidashal. Tenshi turned and nodded to him before stepping towards Louise and Saito, the former of which was opening a World Door. The sudden portal startled Tenshi, but she continued forward.
"Good luck with your studies Miss Tenshi," said Henrietta, cheerfully, as she waved them off. Tenshi gave a sheepish smile before, hesitantly, walking through the World Door that led to Des Ornières. The portal closed with a pop and Henrietta turned to Bidashal. "She seems to be quite the timid girl. I wonder how long she will take before she opens up a bit."
"I don't think she will any time soon. Sakko informed me that she has been an orphan for quite a time and she doesn't seem willing to speak of her past. She may have scars that are keeping her very reserved," explained Bidashal. Henrietta stared at him, wondering if he knew more than he let on but chose not to ask.
"So, Tenshi, this is the Des Ornières mansion, where you will be staying for awhile," explained Saito while Tenshi looked around in awe. "Never been in a mansion before?"
"H-Hm…?" said Tenshi, not having been listening. "O-Oh…um…n-no, I haven't…"
"Where did you live in the Valkyrie kingdom, Tenshi?" asked Louise, seeming excited to have another Void friend.
"U-Umm…I lived in the capital…" said Tenshi, sheepishly. She didn't really like being the center of attention.
"Oh, so you must have been from a wealthy family. I heard that all of the poorer people lived outside the capital," said Saito, curious about his new resident's life.
"W-Well, not all…of them…also, I'm not," said Tenshi, looking away. Louise looked at her with a confused expression but Saito immediately understood what she had meant.
"Uh, well then, Siesta! Can you come and greet the new guest?" called Saito, trying to steer the conversation from the topic that was obviously making Tenshi uncomfortable.
"Yes, Saito-san!" called out Siesta from the dining room. She walked out and was cleaning her hands in her apron. "Excuse me; I was cleaning the dining room so it would be ready for dinner. Hello, I am Saito-san's personal maid, Siesta. It's very nice to meet you."
"I-I'm Tenshi. P-Pleased to meet you. Please take c-care of me," said Tenshi, nervously, before bowing in turn with Siesta.
"Hmmm…Siesta, do we have any empty rooms nearby the master bedroom? I'd like for Tenshi to be nearby in case she needs something. She could get lost since she isn't familiar with the house," explained Saito. Siesta began to think for a moment.
"None along the same hall aside from mine. Well, Saito-san, I could sleep with you and Miss Tenshi could take my room," said Siesta, slyly, while winking at Saito.
"W-W-What? S-Saito-sama does those kinds of things with w-women other than his wife?" asked Tenshi, taken aback by Siesta's playful flirting. Saito rolled his eyes and karate chopped Siesta in the head, causing the maid to crouch and rub her aching head in the corner while Saito, nonchalantly turned to Tenshi.
"Please forgive her. She's a very perverted maid. Anyways, I guess you could take her room and she and Louise could sleep in the master bedroom. It would be good for you to be near them in case you need help. That will be good for the first few days until you get used to the house," explained Saito, partially thinking aloud.
"B-But, where will S-Saito-sama sleep?" asked Tenshi, worried that she might be inconveniencing them.
"Hm? I can sleep in one of the guest rooms. I know my way around the house well enough that I'll be fine," said Saito. "You don't mind, right love?"
"If it's only for a few days I won't mind too much, though I'll miss you, Saito," said Louise while pouting with a puppy dog face.
"Louise," called Saito as he stretched his arm towards her.
"Saito," said Louise as she took his hand.
"You two are being over dramatic again," said Siesta, bluntly, after coming between the two dramatic love birds.
"W-Why you annoying maid! Stop getting in the middle of Saito and my moments!" shouted Louise before chasing Siesta away why waving her wand.
"I-Is it always this…um…lively," said Tenshi, nervously, to Saito who was watching his wife and maid scurry around with a smile on his face.
"Pretty much. Good part is it never gets boring," said Saito, enthusiastically. Tenshi breathed out an intrigued 'Hm' and the two continued to watch the interesting scene before them.
Elsewhere…
"Lord Chesaré!" shouted one of the Romalian guards.
"Hm?" said Julio who had been sitting in a chair in his personal library, reading a book to relax.
"We've discovered something underground. We believe it to be the thing you read about in the ancient records," explained the guard. Julio's eyes lit up and he was up in a moment and following the guard out of the room.
Julio followed the guard to one of the deep chambers of the Vatican building and they walked along a dark, narrow path.
"We discovered it nearby by mere chance. It's somewhere over here…" said the guard as he glided his hand across the wall. His hand sunk a bit into one of the bricks and he shouted out an 'Ah'. His hand sunk into the brick, a glowing aura around his wrist, and it seemed like he was pulling a lever. Within minutes, a creaking sounded behind the wall and a portion of the wall sunk back. Julio looked at it, curiosity burning in his eyes, and he pushed it, causing the brick door to creak open.
"Fascinating! To think no one has found this door in over a hundred years," said Julio, intrigued by the ancient passageway that led in front of him. The brick hall was filled with cobwebs as they walked along with small, magical lamps that glowed a dim blue. The two wandered the halls, eventually finding a widening exit which led into an enormous room. "Amazing!"
Julio ran out when he realized what the room was filled with. They were ancient weapons from Earth mixed with some weapons from the world wars. Tanks, army jeeps, grenade launchers, swords, guns, every weapon imaginable. Julio began to inspect each one, noting the level of sophistication and bouncing from one group to another. Something eventually caught his eye and his attention flew in its direction.
"Sir, what is this room? It's filled with such strange devices," asked the guard who didn't understand what anything was.
"It's a room filled with technology from Gandalfr's world. The papacy has been collecting them since after Brimir's death and began storing them after this building was built. They're here for each Gandalfr to use if necessary," said Julio, absently, as he began to walk towards what had caught his eye. "So it was true…"
"Sir?" asked the guard in confusion.
"I need you to notify communications. Have them send word to Henrietta. Tell her, we've discovered the another Void ruin and it's right under the capital," said Julio, seriously. The guard left, running, and Julio inspected the door, which was enormous, golden, and decorated. "Hm? What's this?"
Julio moved the torch he had in front of the decorations and noticed something that intrigued him. There was an image of a mage which had wind coming from their feet, as if running, and there was a person next to them who had tiny letters carved on their head. The person had a floating book next to them with spirals that looked like magic coming from it.
"Hm? Well, if that was Myoznitnirn, then that book might be their special weapon but…I thought theirs was the mirror. If so…what is that?" said Julio confused.
So? What did you guys think?
The beginning of the chapter is simple antics, and the hazy beginnings of a new harem member, and the second half is a cool idea I got from reading the LNs.
Can anyone who remembers well whether or not they had a room with Earth weapon's in Romalia in the anime? I didn't really have time to go back and check and the wiki is no help since it uses info from the anime and LN. I changed the room a bit, what with the giant door in the back that I added, but I wanted to see.
Anyways, Review and until next time...byeee :D
