I'm finally back after a month of no updates!

Canada was great, going through 30 chapters looking for my stupid mistakes was tiresome.

I know I promised last time for explanations on why Saito was chose as Myoz (too lazy to write the whole name), but I'll being doing that next chapter when I explain what's written in the Void book written in Dwarven that everyone found last chapter.

Also, sorry this is a short chapter but I haven't been feeling in top condition so sorry about that.

Chapter 45

The next day…

"Ugh…" groaned Saito as he regained consciousness. He slapped a hand to his face before rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. Ugh…I thought I'd be used to that by now… thought Saito.

His eyes cracked open and he heard the door open. A combination of light and loud footsteps made their way towards him and he tilted his head, wincing at the pulsing in his head.

"Saito! You're finally awake," said a familiar pink haired girl as she ran to his bedside.

"Morning, Louise…where am I?" said Saito, smiling at her.

"You're back in Des Ornières. How do you feel? You look in pain," said Louise, a worried expression on her face.

"Just a headache. Almost feels like a hangover to be honest…Hahahaha- Ow!" said Saito before wincing at the enormous headache he had.

"I-I'm sorry, S-Saito-sama. You f-feel bad because o-of me," said Tenshi, making her presence known to Saito.

"It's alright, Tenshi. You couldn't control who would become your familiar," said Saito, trying to console Tenshi.

"Gwen is waiting outside, Saito. Do you want her to treat your headache?" asked Louise, still worried about her husband. Saito nodded and Gwen was in the room healing her the next moment.

Several hours later…

"Ah~! I feel much better now!" said Saito, happily. Gwen had used her healing magic on him for a little while before he took a nap to recover.

"Saito-san, how does your head feel? Is it still pulsing?" asked Gwen, worried about him.

"I'm okay! Thanks so much for your help, Gwen," said Saito, happily, beaming a bright smile at her. Gwen blushed at the way he looked at her and couldn't help but stutter when she said 'You're welcome'.

"So, Saito, how does it feel? Do you feel different now that you have Myoznitnirn's powers?" asked Louise, wondering if he felt any different.

"Hm…not really. I mean, I didn't feel any different when I became Gandalfr until I used a sword. Maybe I'll feel it when I use a magical tool," said Saito, thinking about what he should try to use. "Why don't we ask Vivlio?"

Louise's eyes widened as she remembered about the rude, talking book and ran out to find Tenshi who was taking care of it. She came back with the shy Valkyrie minutes later, dragging her along by her wrist.

"Ey! Look, the pansy finally woke up!" shouted Vivlio, mockingly.

"B-Be nice," scolded Tenshi, causing Vivlio to sigh.

"Hey, Vivlio. I wanted to try out Myoznitnirn's powers but I'm not sure where to start. Mind helping me out?" asked Saito, hopeful that the talking book wouldn't be difficult.

"Hm…Well, I can't really explain how the damn powers work, but I could try making you a simple magical tool to try out," said Vivlio. "You have to wield me, though."

Saito stared, intently, at Vivlio and glanced up at Tenshi. She nodded, hesitantly, and handed Saito Vivlio. Saito focused on connecting with Vivlio and it only took a moment for the runes on his forehead to glow.

"Aw yeah!" shouted Vivlio as he felt magical power flow through him. His cover began to change color, turning from a dull gray to a deep purple. "Now then! Why don't we make some freakin' magical tools!?"

Vivlio flipped open in Saito's hands and his pages blew by at breakneck speed. He finally stopped on a page that seemed blank. Suddenly black lines were being drawn on the page, forming an image of a pistol with text bubbles around it, written in some ancient language. Something began to come out of the image, emitting a bright light as it did so. After the light subsided, allowing everyone to see again, two pistols with glowing orbs on the end appeared on the book.

Saito picked up the pistols after setting Vivlio down on the bed. He inspected them and smiled at how interesting they looked.

"Hope you like 'em. I thought you'd be comfortable with a weapon since that's what you're used to," said Vivlio, proudly. Saito couldn't wait to test them out and was out the door with Vivlio, Derf, and the pistols in a moment. He went out to the training ground in front of the mansion and set Vivlio down on a nearby stump, leaning Derf next to him. Saito took the two pistols and inspected them, wondering how they worked. They had a trigger just like a regular pistol but he wasn't sure what kind of ammo they used. As he inspected them, the runes on his forehead began to glow and his mind was filled with knowledge about how the pistols worked.

Everyone watched him as he closed his eyes and focused. The crystal balls at the end, which ceased glowing after Vivlio finished making them, were suddenly refilled with a spiraling glow. Saito's eyes flickered open and he turned to face a boulder a bit away. He aimed at it and his Gandalfr runes began to glow. He pulled the trigger and a beam that was a bluish white shot out and hit the boulder, leaving searing marks as well as a small indentation.

Everyone stared in awe and Saito grinned before shooting off several more shots, tearing through the rock each time. Louise rolled her eyes and smiled at how childish Saito was being and she could hear Vivlio and Derf poking fun at their partner.

By the time Saito was finished, he was panting from the exertion and grinned as he inspected the boulder. The indentations formed a hole that went straight through the middle of the boulder and there were black scorch marks around it.

"Wow, Partner, that was good. Gotta admit, I didn't think I'd ever see you use two familiar powers for combat," said Derf, rattling a bit.

"Hell yeah, Derfy! I didn't think he'd catch on so quick. I was expecting something to blow up in his freaking face," said Vivlio, laughing loudly.

"Well, my new body can use magical attacks so I guess he got used to it," said Derf, causing Vivlio to 'Hm' in an intrigued voice.

"Well then," began Siesta, bringing attention to her. "Why don't we go inside and have a celebratory feast for both Miss Tenshi's gaining a familiar and Saito-san gaining his new powers?"

"That sounds great, Siesta," said Saito after he caught his breath.

"Yay! Food!" shouted Asuna, excitedly, causing everyone to laugh. Everyone filtered in behind Siesta and she prepared a large meal with some assistance from the villagers.

Somewhere along the northern border of Germania…

"Ah~! Finally, we're almost at Nurmbarg!" said a merchant to his assistant.

"Yes, sir. We can finally trade off all the furs we've been collecting. Nurmbarg is such a great fur trading town," said the assistant, carrying a huge backpack that had some of the fur they were carrying. The merchant nodded and the two struggled up the hill with their enormous backpacks, having to help the other every few minutes. Soon they reached the top of the hill, the closest one that looked over the town of Nurmbarg.

"It's Nurmbarg! We can finally see it over the hill," said the assistant, excitedly as he turned to look at the town. He gasped at what he was witnessing and staggered back in shock.

"What is it?" said the merchant as he moved next to his assistant and looked out. He, too, gasped, eyes wide in horror. "W…What happened here?"

The town of Nurmbarg was a sea of flames, the buildings shattered and destroyed. They couldn't hear a single scream or shout from people. They couldn't see a single person moving. They were horrified at the sight and it only took moments for them to turn around and run. Run to the nearest town so they could report the crisis. Someone was attacking Halkeginia and they weren't leaving anyone alive.
