Hey guys, MT here!
I just wanted to address something before this chapter and that is: CALM DOWN!
For those of you who are against the parts I wrote about Tabitha and Henrietta, I do not, as of this moment, plan to write any sort of scene with Saito betraying Louise. Also, please do remember that Halkeginia is a place based in medieval times and so affairs were VERY common among people of high social standing. It certainly wouldn't be uncommon for royalty to have them, especially with other people of high standing. Meaning the idea of Saito, a Duke, and Henrietta or Tabitha, both Queens, doing the nasty isn't such a far fetched idea.
*takes deep breath* Now then, I do hope you enjoy this random chapter and, before I ramble more, ENJOY!
Chapter 55
Sometime later…
Tenshi has been slowly getting better after the last few days. Her stutter is only reduced to one or two a sentence, though it does increase a bit when she isn't speaking to people from outside Des Ornières. In the last few days, everyone has continued training, however the Dwarves have all but completely gone quiet. It's been making everyone very stressed but all everyone has been able to do is train. Well, Saito has also been thinking about how to combat the Dwarves and decided to do something.
"Mr. Colbert, how goes the studies of my world's technology?" asked Saito after walking into the study which Mr. Colbert was using for the moment.
"Not very well, Saito. Without examples, it is very difficult to properly analyze and recreate some of these tools. Such as the 'radio' or 'night and thermal-vision' goggles. I would need something I could take apart and analyze," said Mr. Colbert, a little sad he couldn't completely understand what was written in the books Saito had translated for him.
Saito sat and thought about how they could deal with such a situation and he got an idea.
"Mr. Colbert, how would you like to visit my world?" asked Saito, a smile on his face. Mr. Colbert all but leapt from his seat, being that excited to go.
"Of course I would love to! Oh I would be so happy to be able to view another world!" said Mr. Colbert, excitedly. Saito smiled, happy finally get a chance to bring Mr. Colbert to his world.
"Alright, let me just prepare a few things and then we will go over. I suggest not taking more than a notebook because it would look weird for you to be walking around with a bunch of stuff," said Saito, receiving a nod of understanding from Mr. Colbert.
Later that day…
"Alright, Mr. Colbert, you need to wear this at all times and don't get too far from my location. If you do you won't be able to speak to or understand anyone," explained Saito as he handed Mr. Colbert the translation device. Mr. Colbert nodded and attached it while Saito attached his own and they activated it.
"Are you sure Miss Asuna's mother will not be in need of this?" asked Mr. Colbert.
"No, Asuna's mom isn't coming back to Halkeginia for a little while because she has a business trip back in Japan. Either ways, we'll only be using these for today," explained Saito, Mr. Colbert responding with a nod. "Now, Louise, do you have the gold? We're going to need a lot to buy what we want."
"Yes, Saito, I have it," said Louise, holding out a small sack filled with gold coins. "We're going back to the shop from before, right?"
Saito nodded and Louise turned to chant her World Door spell. She had changed into the clothes she had bought in Japan to not stand out nearly as much, though Mr. Colbert was still wearing his dark blue coat and had a brown satchel.
The World Door opened and they could see a startled man behind the counter of the pawn shop. The three walked through and into the pawn shop and the owner took a second to inspect them before relaxing.
"Oh, it's just you two again," said the owner. "Those coins you gave me sold pretty damn well. Got quite a bit for them by passing them off as designer coins."
"That's very good because we actually have more. We're here on business and need some spending money," explained Saito, causing the owner to sigh.
"Well, I guess, but I don't know how much you plan on selling to me. I can only afford so much," said the owner.
"It's alright. I think I can make a deal with you," began Saito, catching the owner's interest. Saito took the bag of gold coins from Louise and set them down on the counter. "One hundred coins at ¾ the price of gold. You'll make a hefty profit there."
The owner's eyes nearly popped out of his head at the thought of such a large amount of money but he managed to calm himself down enough to think rationally. He pulled a calculator out from a drawer and began to punch in a bunch of numbers, muttering 'Hm's randomly. He then turned off the calculator and set it on the glass showcases before holding his hand out to Saito.
"Deal," said the owner with a grin on his face. Saito smiled and shook the man's hand before going into the back. He came out several minutes later with a plethora of bills held together in rubber bands and laid them out on the table. "This is quite literally all the money I have stored in this place for transactions."
Saito chuckled a bit and took some of the wads of cash and put them in Mr. Colbert's satchel and in a small backpack he had brought to carry their money. The trio walked out of the store moments later, waving to the owner who was practically drooling over stack of money.
"Holy crap this is way too much money," said Saito, not really comfortable walking around with so much money.
"Oi, what the fuck?! Why am I drowning in cash in here?" shouted a muffled voice coming from Saito's backpack.
"Be quiet, Vivlio. You just need to bear with it. Since I can't just walk around with you and I couldn't bring Derf because of the no sword laws in Japan, I needed something to help defend us if someone tries to mug us," explained Saito, trying to calm down his obscene book.
"Saito, I do believe that you are strong enough to overpower most people, even in this world," said Mr. Colbert. Granted, he wasn't wrong. Compared to most people, Saito could probably lift the front end of a car, easily. Though that's mostly because he has to train so much to…y'know, not die.
"I guess. Also, we should start off by going to some kind of survival shop. They will have some of the things we could use," said Saito. Louise and Mr. Colbert nodded and Saito led the way. They found a shop in a nearby shopping center and explored it, Saito and Louise struggling to keep Mr. Colbert from touching absolutely everything in the shop. He was like a kid who just walked into a candy shop…except it was filled with dangerous tools. They managed to find some night and thermal vision goggles, which they took several of each, and bought them before Louise opened a World Door to Saito's study and they tossed them in. They also ended up getting a composite bow which Mr. Colbert was quite adamant in getting because he thought it was 'fascinating'.
The trio's next stop was a gun shop in which they purchased a handgun, crossbow, and sniper rifle, which took a whole 30 seconds of paperwork when they showed the gun shop owner a World Door, meaning it wasn't necessary to fill out paper work.
They're last stop was a local police station which was probably going to be their most difficult stop.
"Good afternoon and welcome to the *insert location here* Police Station. How may I be of assistance today?" asked the receptionist. Saito walked forward, smiling.
"Hello, we actually needed to speak with the chief about something. It's kind of important," said Saito, causing the receptionist to stare at him as if he were crazy.
"Well, unless you have some kind of appointment you won't have much luck meeting with him. He's very busy," said the receptionist, causing Saito to sigh.
"Would you please tell him that I'm Kurata Hiraga's son? My dad said he used to be friends with the chief," said Saito, hoping she would just do it. The receptionist nodded and pressed a button on the intercom on her desk.
"Excuse me, Chief, there's a boy here to see you. He said his father is Kurata Hiraga," said the receptionist before releasing her finger from the button. After a moment, static could be heard from the intercom and a voice came through.
"Send him in, send him in! I always have time for Kurata's family," said the voice through the intercom. The receptionist nodded and got up from her desk before leading Saito and company to the Chief's office. She knocked and they heard a 'Come in' before she opened the door and let us in.
"Hello, hello! Ah, Saito! I remember you from when you were younger!" said the Chief the moment the three walked in. "How's your old man been doing?"
"Dad's doing great. I'm sorry but I actually don't remember you too well," said Saito, smiling awkwardly.
"Bah, don't worry about it. It has to have been at least 10 years. Anyways, why don't you take a seat and tell me why you've come by. Getting chased by some criminals?" joked the Chief, causing Saito to laugh.
"No, no, nothing like that. Actually, we needed to see if we could buy something from the police station," said Saito, hoping not to arouse too much suspicion. One of the Chief's eyebrows rose in interest and he leaned back into his chair.
"And what exactly do you need to buy from a police station? If you needed a gun you could always buy it from a shop and the police don't do any kind of body guard service," said the Chief, curiously.
"Ah, it's neither of those. We actually need to buy a bullet proof vest," said Saito. The Chief stared at him, confused, but remained silent. "Of course we're going to pay the station for it. More than it's worth if it will make you more interested in selling us one."
"…And why exactly would you need such a thing? I hope you aren't planning to get into some kind of gun fight," said the Chief, suspiciously.
"Well, actually it's for my friend here," said Saito, gesturing to Mr. Colbert who waved in response. "He's a scientist and wants to study it. He wants to see if he can make a cheaper or stronger version of them."
"Hm…well…I am a bit reluctant to do such a thing, but seeing as you're Kurata's son…I guess I could sell you one. They aren't cheap, though," said the Chief, calmly.
"It's alright, my wife and I are basically rich," said Saito, smiling a bit.
"You got married?! Oh, wow, how time has flown. I remember the youngster from 10 years ago and now you're already married," said the Chief, chuckling to himself. Saito grinned and he and the Chief worked out a price for the vest and the three left the station some time later.
"Well, Mr. Colbert, I think we have a decent amount of supplies. Is there anything else you want to check out before we go?" asked Saito, curiously.
"Would you just get freakin' home already? It's cramped in this damn bag with all this money!" shouted the muffled voice of Vivlio. The three laughed after a moment and Mr. Colbert said he was fine for now before Louise opened a World Door and they went back home.
So? What did you guys think?
I thought it might be nice to finally fulfill Mr. Colbert's wish to visit Saito's world and I thought I'd have Vivlio say a few lines since he has participated in awhile.
Well, Review and let me know what you guys thought and until next time...byeee :D
