Hey guys, MT here!

Here's the second chapter so ENJOY!

Chapter 68

The next day…

"Otr, I don't know what you're planning on doing with that magic user, but it's dangerous even for you," said a dwarf with a white coat on.

"Come now, Valentin, you know you have nothing to worry about," said Otr, jokingly.

"I guess that's true. You never get off your ass but when you do you do a damn good job," said Valentin, giving a mocking smirk at Otr who chuckled. "Anyways, here's the report on what's wrong with him and I'll be back tomorrow. Contact me if he wakes up but I doubt he will for at least a couple days. I've got other patients to deal with so I can't stay here to insult you too long."

Otr nodded, another grin on his face from his friend's teases, and Eir let Valentin out. After he was gone, Eir closed and locked the door before walking towards Otr.

"What is the damage, love?" asked Eir, worriedly. Otr frowned as he looked over the report.

"Nearly all of his ribs are broken, both his legs and arms have multiple breaks, he has a few cracks in his skull, and may have suffered some brain damage since he isn't properly reacting to the coma tests. He also has severe burns on multiple sections of his torso and arms. I'm amazed that Valentin could find out about his ribs and skull though I'm skeptical about the last thing. We haven't proven that those tests are true. Either ways, our young friend here is somehow alive. I don't understand how he managed to survive all that," said Otr, a bit relieved that Saito was at least stabilized.

"Could it have been that tree? You said he was inside of a kind of tree," said Eir, curiously.

"Yes, and as soon as I touched it, it released him," said Otr, being engrossed in his thoughts.

"Should we send someone to contact the others? They'll want to know that he's alive," asked Eir, receiving a head shake from Otr.

"We should wait until he is healed enough to do that. It wouldn't be a good idea and who knows how long it will take," said Otr, seriously. Otr and Eir watched Saito as he slept, covered in bandages, with worried expressions.

Two days later…

"Ugh," groaned Saito as he became conscious, feeling the soreness and pain from his body. He heard shuffling next to him and he cracked an eye open to look over at the person. His vision was a bit blurry at first but the person came into focus. "Eir…"

"Saito-dono, please do not move. You are very injured. I will inform Otr so he can come to speak with you," said Eir, looking a bit flustered. She hurried off and came back a few minutes, Otr just behind her.

"Saito, my boy, you're finally awake," said Otr, relieved. "You were terribly injured so I had a friend of mine tend to your wounds. Please do not move."

"So that's why...I'm in pain. Where is everyone?" asked Saito, still tired.

"I had sent everyone off before we discovered you were still alive. They should be nearly back by now. As for your talking sword and book, they are still down in the ravine. I have been unable to find them," said Otr, calmly.

"You can't find them?" said Saito with a bit of a confused expression. "Say this next time you go. It's a password we created. It's 'tomodachi'."

Otr nodded and Eir went forward to speak with Saito next.

"Saito-dono, when Otr found you, he said you were in some kind of strange tree. Do you happen to know anything about it?" asked Eir. Saito looked at her with a surprised expression and then seemed to think about it.

"When you found me…was there a ring on any of my fingers aside from my wedding ring?" asked Saito. Otr shook his head in response and Saito seemed to look off. "So that was it. I received a ring from a nature spirit before arriving and it said that the ring would protect me. I didn't really understand what it would save me from but now I know. The ring transformed into that tree to save my life."

"Fascinating. And to think there is a nature spirit in this country as well. It must be in the backcountry if my father hasn't found and tried to kill it yet," said Otr, jokingly. "By the way, Saito, do you want me to bring your friends back? They will want to at least know you yet live."

"Don't," said Saito, surprising Otr and Eir. "Everyone thinks I'm dead, right?"

"Yes, everyone believed so," said Otr, calmly.

"Then what if I used that to my advantage? Your father might try something now that the 'Hero of Halkeginia' is out of the way," said Saito, frowning a bit as he also thought about how Louise must have been feeling.

"Are you sure? This could be dangerous to the magic users if they learn that their symbol of strength is gone," said Otr. Saito nodded, weakly, and Otr sighed. "Alright, I will go and search for your sword and book while you rest so please take it easy. Eir, my love, please continue to keep him company."

"Of course, dear. Please be careful," said Eir, worriedly. Otr smiled at her and waved before leaving the room.

"This tree amazes me every time I see it," said Otr as he gazed at the tree that saved Saito. He had just gotten back down into the ravine and quickly found the tree. "Sword and book of Saito! I have come to recover you for him!"

Otr waited for a few moments after saying those words, frowning when he received no response.

"Tomodachi!" shouted Otr, deciding to just use the password Saito informed him of.

"Who is it?!" asked a voice that Otr recognized as the talking sword.

"It is Otr. Saito sent me after waking up. Where are you and his talking book?" asked Otr, walking towards the voice in hopes of finding them.

"I'm over here facing a wall. I don't know exactly where Vivlio is but I think he's asleep below me. I've been hearing an annoying snoring for a while," said Derf, annoyed. Otr walked around the tree and found Derf sticking out of the tree before reaching out with his hand and yanking the sword out of where it was stuck. "Ah, much better!"

Otr chuckled a bit at the sword's reaction and set it down next to him in the small cockpit. He then turned to look downward and found Vivlio on the ground, covered in small rocks and dust. He picked it up and brushed him off.

"Oi, Vivlio, wake up!" shouted Derf in annoyance.

"Huh? Huh? What the freakin' hell am I being woken up for," said Vivlio, groggily. "Oh it's just you two. Where the hell are we?"

"We're at the bottom of that ravine we fell down with Partner. Some kinda tree saved him," said Derf. It took a second for Vivlio to respond and he fidgeted in Otr's hands.

"Oi, you need to take this dumbass sword and stab it into the tree now and then touch his handle with me," said Vivlio.

"Why?" asked Otr, confused by the book's sudden order.

"Why are you freakin' questioning me? Ugh, fine. This tree's got a magical connection to all other trees. If you connect some stuff having to do with Brimir, like me and this sword, then I might be able to do something that'll help us," said Vivlio in a poor explanation. Otr nodded after a moment and unsheathed Derf before stabbing him into the tree bark and touching Derf with Vivlio. Vivlio glowed, lightly, and the glow spread into Derf and into the tree. The tree suddenly burst into a bright glow, illuminating the surrounding area with a white light. Otr was forced to shield his eyes from the glow but it was only for a moment before the light suddenly faded. Otr stared in confusion before the tree began to grow darker and crumble. He just managed to grab Vivlio and Derf as the tree crumbled away into dust.

"What just happened?" asked Derf, confused.

"Look you retard," said Vivlio, eliciting Otr to look on the ground in front of him. There, was a surprised and familiar face on the ground, confused as to where she was.

"Miss Gwen?!" said Otr in shock. Gwen looked up at Otr, her cheeks stained with tears, and gasped.

"O-Otr-sama? Where-?" said Gwen, surprised.

"She happened to be sitting against a tree and I found some info that told me that the Drasil tree baby could transport people touching a tree. Kind of bull if you ask me but I guess logic doesn't really apply to spirit trees," said Vivlio.

"This is perfect! Dwarf prince, this Void mage has the ability to heal people. Is there any way she could use her magic without activating those rock things?" asked Derf, excitedly.

"Well, yes, I had discovered a companion stone that could nullify-," said Otr before being interrupted.

"Perfect! Hey, Gwen, Saito's alive but he's injured!" said Derf, excitedly. Gwen stared at him for a moment, shock on her face, and it took at least a minute for her to process that information.

"Saito-san…Saito-san is alive," said Gwen, tears flooding her eyes. She leapt to her feet and lunged at Otr who was inside of his mech, pulling her face close to his. "Please take me to him!"

Otr was a bit taken aback by her reaction but nodded, nonetheless. Gwen fit herself inside of the small cockpit, barely able to fit with Derf, Vivlio, and Otr. They then left to return to where Saito was being kept, Gwen very stressed to see both her close friend and a man that she was in love with.

So? What did you guys think?

Alright, I will try my best to explain it. *takes deep breath* The Drasil Tree is a spirit tree with connections to Brimir just like that water spirit that tried to flood a town and since the Drasil tree is connected to Void mage it wouldn't be surprising if Void weapons had an effect on a spawn of it. Since Gwen was leaning against a tree and the Drasil tree is connected to all trees in the world through spirit lines (like how the trees in Avatar the Last Airbender were) so it was able to transport her so that she could help Saito because the spirit tree knew that Saito was hurt and needed to be healthy so he could save the world.

In short, I need you to allow the BS that I have pulled so that Saito can heal quickly and not have to spend a month or more healing.

Review to let me know what you guys thought about the story so far and the social media things I mentioned before.

Until next time...byeee :D
