The day had come. It was time to go to the field. The place where James first chance at fate was sealed, the place where Victoria's newborns were killed, was now going to be the place where we met the Volturi. Everyone was choosing their places, and I had mine. James was on my right and Emmett on his, Carlisle and Edward were on my left.
I had on a dark purple cloak that went with my eyes, and I had on a light purple dress with a bustier style top. The cloak had a train, and the dress was short in the front and long in the back. I was ready. The moment of truth was here.
Everyone was focused on their little subjects, but I, I was replaying all the visions in my head. I was in the zone, and it was becoming unbreakable. The sound of the beating hearts broke me out of my trance. Embry was here, now I really was ready.
They were coming.I felt their presence nearing. Everyone around me got tense, but I remande the same. My body was shaking with anticipation. I wanted to scream. Seconds passed, then, they emerged from the forest.
It was amazing. Their form was perfect. They fanned out slowly.
"The redcoats are coming, the redcoats are coming," Garrett said to himself and laughed a little. Then, he put himself closer to Kate.
"They did come," Vladimir whispered to Stefan.
"The wives," Stefan whispered back. "The entire guard. All of them together. It's well we didn't try Volterra."
Then, as the Volturi slowly moved forward, more vampires emerged. My vision was slowly fulfilling itself. This was it. The family was whispering something about Alistair.
All of a sudden the Volturi stopped. The pack had come out of the forest behind us. They branched out on both sides, and Embry came to my side. I smiled and jumped up on his back.
He smiled a bit and thought, "Fatty!"
"Look who's talking," I whispered with a smile.
The Volturi were thinking. They worried about all the new faces. Carlisle spoke to Aro. They were talking about the law and the situation. Caius spoke and Carlisle told the truth. Then, Caius whispered to Aro.
"Carlisle," Aro spoke up, "who's that hiding their face?"
"That would be the newest edition to my family. My daughter, Michelle," Carlisle replied.
You!" Caius pointed to me, "come forward, reveal yourself."
This was it. I walked forward slowly and took my hood off. There were gasps all around me, and everyone in front of me dropped to their knees and bowed before me. I turned around and gave Carlisle a questioning look. The vampires behind me bowed too, except the family.
"It really is her," I heard Stefan whisper to Vladimir.
"My Queen, forgive me," Caius looked up to me. My jaw dropped. Then, it hit me, and I knew everything.
"Please, rise," I said gracefully.
"As you wish," Aro smiled.
"The prophecy is true," Marcus gasped, "Her voice, her face, her eyes!"
"It described you so well!" Caius said.
"Yes, but it doens't even give you justice," aro said, "Such a powerful beauty."
"Amazing power and strength," Marcus smiled.
"Exactly as described," Caius said.
"Thank you," I smiled serenely.
"No need to thank us," Aro smiled.
"Keep on boosting my ego," I laughed.
"It's who you are," Aro smiled.
"Yes, it is my destiny, but I won't change my life for this. I'll leave it in your hands. That is, unless I disagree."
"If you wish," Aro smiled.
"Shall we get back to the matter at hand?" Caius asked.
"Of course," I smiled.
"Will you observe?" Aro asked.
"I suppose I will," I replied.
"Butt in where you need to," he added.
"Of course,' I smiled with my love for this newly acquired authority.
"Shall we begin?" Caius asked.
"Ah yes, but first I'd like my fiance at my side."
"Sure," Aro smiled.
"James," I smiled and motioned for him to come over. Just like in the vision he walked to my side in shock.
"Vampire royalty," Aro smiled. Now I knew what he meant. "What about the other one?" he asked as James and I stood hand in hand.
"Oh, yes, Embry." Embry eyed me. "Phase," I whispered to him.
"Now?!" he whispered in his head to me.
"Yes, now!" I hissed. "I got you!" He phased, as I promised, without anyone seeing.
"Embry," Aro smled. Embry's face was covered in shock and fear.
"Yes this is Embry Call, my other, other half," I smiled.
"A love from each side," Aro grinned, "I never inall of my days thought I'd see it! You're all standing in front of me, very real."
"And to think, our friend Carlisle was the one to change her!" Marcus said.
"He is very lucky indeed," Aro agreed.
"It's quite odd, actually. Vampire venom is supposed to kill us, but it didn't kill me."
"It's your destiny dear," Carlisle spoke up.
"I guess so," I agreed.
"You will learn a lot about your destiny today," Aro said.
"It does seem so," I agreed.
"So, she really is the chosen one?' James questioned.
"Yes James, she is," Aro replied.
"So that means that I...and he?" he thought aloud.
"Yes," Aro laughed.
"Wow!" James gasped.
"So this is why she changed?" Embry asked.
"Yes," Aro smiled, "So we can all tell who she is. And besides, doesn't it make her look like an angel?"
"She's always been my angel," James smiled and pulled me close.
"she does, it's true," Embry agreed.
"Shall we continue?" I asked.
"Yes my," Aro said.
I cut him off, "Michelle, please."
"Michelle," Aro smiled.
The talking about the laws continued. They talked about Nessie and our witnesses. Caius had Irina brought forward and it hit me. Today, Irina would die for her actions.
As the talking continued, James, Embry, and I carried on our own silent conversation.
"You're a fucking queen?!" Embry shouted in his mind.
"I know," I replied.
"This is what the visions showed," James added.
"It's not over yet," I replied.
"Oh, no," James gasped.
"It's okay, don't worry," I reassured him.
"Will there be a fight?" Embry asked.
"If there will be. I will protect the two of you!" I promised.
"What about everyone else?" Embry's voice broke.
"I don't know," I answered.
"You promised," James gasped, 'You promised you'd let nothing happen to any of the family."
"James, please," I said blankly.
"I need to know!" he begged, "Tell me! What's going to happen?"
"James I can't!"
"Yes you can! You can beat this!"
"It will happen soon enough1 You can wait just like everyone else! Both of you can! It's not my damn fault that I have these powers! Get over it!" I pretty much yelled.
"What's gotten into you?!" James questioned.
"The feeling of power and authority," Embry answered.
"Don't you start with me Embry!" I growled.
"Stop! Both of you!" James ordered.
"I'll stop when I want to, thank you very much!" I said.
"I'm trying to see what's going on baby," James said and rubbed my arm.
"It's nothing amazing!" I replied.
"Stop this fighting1" Embry yelled.
"You started it with your rude ass comment embry! So shut the fuck up about it!"
"He's intrigued with the idea of...guard dogs," Edward said. The pack was pissed.
"Excuse me," I spoke up.
"Yes?" Aro turned to me.
"Keep in mind I'm a part of that too! I'm no guard dog! Neither are they! We have inherited obligations , and it's to protect the people from...well, all of you. Yes I am both, but still! Let's not insult my heritage. Let's not insult my family."
"I apologize, please forgive me." Aro bowed.
"You are forgiven, this time," I nodded.
Aro went on and talked to his brothers. Caius argued with him. He wasn't happy with Aro. He was pissed.
Caius thought we were real werewolves...dumbass. We're shapeshifters. I knew that, even if no one else did. It took everything I had not to say "Get him."
He finally decided the wolves didn't endanger the secret, and he called Irina forward. He started questioning her more. He knew what he was doing.
This was it. Could I really let it happen? Yes, she endangered my family and my pack. She would suffer the consequences.
As she talked, Caius held up a silver lighter, the signal. The soldiers leaped forward and ripped her to pieces. Caius lit the fire and sparks and flames danced in the air.
Eventually they all took their places back in the line.
"Now she has taken full responsibility for her actions," Caius smiled.
I stood there as the flames danced in my eyes. What was this feeling? Satisfaction?
"I hope this doesn't displease you," Aro said to me.
I shook my head and said coldly, "No."
Kate and Tanya were screaming. Carlisle tried to calm them down. I heard one of them yell, "Traitor!"
"What about the others?" Aro asked.
"You know how I feel about that," I said, my voice so icy.
"Do you mind if I speak to the witnesses? It's procedure," he asked.
"Go ahead," I replied, "Keep in mind the consequences if you choose the wrong thing."
"Yes of course my queen," Aro said, but then caught his mistake, 'I mean Michelle."
First they talked to the Egyptians, then the Irish. Next he talked to Garrett.
I stood there feeling unwanted eyes on me. They were pissed because I didn't save her. I let them kill her. I was a traitor in their eyes. In mine, I was just being fair. I was doing my job, my god-given right.
I glanced back and Emmett, and he thought to me, "It's okay, I don't blame you for anything. Everyone will forgive you, eventually."
"Eventually," I thought back.
"Please tell me the killing is over," James' thought's screamed.
"I don't know, Irina dying was the lasat thing I saw, honestly. So, I'm blind, so to speak, from now on. I won't let it happen, though."
"This is it," James whispered as the Volturi deliberated.
Bella was getting Nessie and Jake ready to run.
Everyone started their goodbyes behind me. I clinched my fists in a mixture of fear and anger. Obviously, everyone was starting to doubt me. I was starting to doubt myself. I squeezed my lovers' hands as the tears started rolling down my cheeks.
"Get ready," Bella whispered to everyone, "It's starting."
Indeed it was starting. The guard started throwing attacks at the line, but Bella's shield protected them. I was impressed by her determination, and I wasn't the only one.
Jane got pissed because her power was useless. Alec, her brother, decided to try his. The shadow that brought complete blindness to it's victims slowly crept toward the group. Benjamin tried to use his power to move it away, but it didn't work. Luckily, Bella's shield kept it out.
I slipped into my own little world as I waited for the decision to come. I had to focus. I had to be confident. I took myself to another time, another world.
