What I've been looking for
On her morning walk with Hope, Fiona made a quick stop by the hospital. She tied Hope by the entrance before going inside and up to the floor that Declan was working his morning-shift. It was just pure luck that Declan happened to pass her into the hallway.
''Hey, what are you doing here?'' He said with a wide smile.
''I just wanted to stop by and thank you for last night. I had a great night.'' She said and beamed at him and she could be mistaken, but she hinted a small blush onto his cheeks. Fiona could glimpse Sasha over Declan's shoulder but pretended that she hadn't noticed her.
''Me too.'' He replied her.
''I'm getting of earlier than I thought. Are you free tonight?'' He asked her with a wide smile and Fiona could feel one or two butterflies in her stomach.
''Hmm, I'm not sure.'' She said with a small smirk. Declan chuckled.
''Shame, I was wondering if I could take you out to dinner. But I guess I have to find something else to do then.'' He said.
''I guess I can squeeze you in. Don't want someone else snatching you up, now do we?'' She giggled flirtatiously before reaching up and placed a soft kiss onto his cheek.
''Yes, wouldn't that be tragic? Around six then?'' He asked and she nodded.
''See you tonight then.'' She winked at him before turning around and started to walk back outside to Hope. And when she was almost by the entrance, something caught her eye. Onto the wall next to her was plenty of different pamphlets, but especially one seemed extra interesting.
''Nursing school?'' Fiona asked herself. Could she really see herself as a nurse? Why not? She would be helping people who needed it the most. And if she got to spend a bit more time with Declan and annoy Sasha with her present, well that was just one big fat bonus. She grabbed a pamphlet before going outside to Hope.
It was still quite early but despite last nights festivities, the morning training was to important to miss. The sun burned onto their naked sweaty upper bodies as all of the guys did push-ups before Zandra watching them. But there was someone who she didn't keep her eyes off.
Zandra glared angrily at Oliver in the front row as she had her arms tightly folded across her chest with a stern facial expression on her face.
''You're not doing them right Oliver, five burpees.'' She demanded. Everybody stopped and looked at Oliver, everybody just as confused as he was. But he did as he was told and did his five burpees. Then they went back to their push-ups. It had barely passed one minute before Zandra once again ordered Oliver to do five burpees. Then ten, fifteen, twenty. When she got up to fifty, Oliver had enough.
''I'm doing them just fine! It's push-ups, not rocket science! Why are you riding me so hard?'' He yelled at her as he breathed heavily. Everybody was totally quite and exchanged looks with each other. But Zandra she glared at him furiously.
''Are you question my methods?!'' Zandra hissed back at him. Oliver could almost see the fire of rage into her eyes and went quite again and shook his head.
Zandra told the others that they had done a great job and left to go back inside. Oliver took a towel and followed her to her study.
''What was all that about?'' He called after her as he closed the door behind them.
''You're aware that you can't be with her right? Not if you want to stay here.'' Zandra hissed as she sat down behind her desk. Oliver looked at her confused.
''I saw that moment you seemed to have with Dawn last night, at the palace.'' She added and they Oliver got back on track again.
''Is that why you were so hard on me out there?'' He spat at her.
''I was hard on you because you sucked at push-ups today, your mind seemed to be somewhere else other then your training.'' She hissed back at him. Oliver sighed.
''Dawn asked me to go with her to Apolize.'' He said and Zandra looked up at him again. Was he leaving? To be with her?
''I just thought you should know.'' He said before leaving the room. Zandra didn't know if she was having a heart-attack or what it was, but there was this stabbing pain in her chest.
After her stop at the hospital, Fiona stopped by the café to pick up some lunch. She tied Hope up outside before heading in.
''Hey.'' She said over at Breanna who was working her shift.
''Hi, what do you want?'' Breanna asked as she gave another client their recite, change and cupcakes.
''A salad, never mind which one.'' Fiona replied and leaned at the counter. Breanna frowned her eyebrows slightly and just picked a random pre done salad and turned back to Fiona.
''5, 20.'' She said and placed the plastic container onto the counter. Fiona nodded and looked into her purse for her wallet, but accidentally dropped her pamphlets.
''Nursing school? You want to become a nurse?'' Breanna asked and picked one of the pamphlets up and looked at it. Fiona sighed and shrugged her shoulders.
''It's an option, I'm going to think about it anyway.'' She answered and gathered all the things back into her purse and paid Breanna.
''And I suppose it would be a huge bonus to see Declan more.'' She added and blushed slightly.
''Talking about Declan, how's that going?'' Breanna smirked widely and gave Fiona a mischievous look. Fiona's lips formed a wider smile.
''All I know right now is that I enjoy his company and want to spend more time with him.'' She said before remembering.
''Which reminds me, I need to pick out what I'm going to wear for out date tonight. By Bre!'' Fiona waved, grabbed her salad and dashed out to Hope. Breanna giggled slightly and shook her head.
The hours past and Oliver hadn't showed up by the study for work all day. But Zandra couldn't concentrate at work anyway. What Oliver had told her had haunted her all day. Was he seriously considering leaving everything to follow some fairy he barely knew. Leaving Eldorado, leaving the ranch, leaving her.
Suddenly, there was a knock onto the door and Oliver peeked inside before stepping in. Neither one of them said anything, they just looked at each other.
''You're leaving, aren't you?'' Zandra asked, she could see it in his eyes. Oliver sighed and nodded his head.
''Unless you got a reason why I shouldn't?'' He asked. Zandra pressed her teeth tightly together and clenched her fist beneath the desk.
''Why should I have? It's a decision you have to make on your own.'' She said, trying to sound so much non caring as possible. Oliver nodded his head and glared at her.
''Fine, I'm leaving tomorrow.'' He said before leaving again. Zandra wanted to run after him, beg him to stay, but for some reason her body wouldn't let her.
Fiona and Declan ran through the pouring rain, laughing. A lightning appeared, soon followed by a loud noise. Fiona shrieked slightly but soon laughed harder. They stopped on top of a small hill and Declan took off his jacket and wrapped it around her.
''I'm already soaked.'' She giggled but wrapped the to big piece of clothing tighter around her.
''Maybe we should find a shelter before you catch a cold.'' He laughed slightly and wrapped his arms around himself.
''I don't mind, not if that means that I'll have the best doctor to look after me.'' She replied and looked up at him. They stood there quiet for a few seconds, before slowly leaning in their lips touched.
Declan wrapped his arms tightly around her waist and Fiona wrapped her arms around his neck as the deepened the kiss. She moaned slightly and played with his hair. She didn't know if she was imagining it, but she could swear that she could see firework before her eyes. They eventually had to pull away to catch their breaths and when they did they gazed deeply into each others eyes. The butterflies in Fiona's stomach was going crazy in there.
''I know exactly where to go.'' She smiled and dragged him with her.
After a long day at work Zandra was completely drained. It would be so nice to take a long hot bath right now, but she didn't even have the energy to do that. It was like something had sucked out all of her energy and will to do anything anymore.
The only thing she really wanted to do was talk to somebody. Paris was not even an option. Nick either, obviously. Normally she would go to Oliver but not even that was an option anymore. Then there was only one person left.
She curled up into bed and leaned against all of the fluffy pillows before taking her cell-phone from her pocket. She searched through her contact list before pressing call by the name she was looking for and waited for someone to pick up at the other end.
''Quinn, it's me.'' She said trying her hardest to sound cheerful. Quinn was Zandra's best friend from her high school days and they still kept in touch from time to time,
''Nothing really, I just wanted to talk to you I guess. How's my god-daughter?'' Zandra asked again, still trying to sound as normal as possible. She was surrounded by people, and still she had never felt more alone.
