Chapter 49: Caught
He slips out of the lair with his gift in hand.
He doesn't want anyone to know what he is doing.
Sensei will probably kill him for this, but he feels it needs to be done.
He has researched where the recipient of the gift is staying and thanks the ancestors that his T-Phone has Internet.
He reaches the room in question and looks in on the patient lying inside.
The boy who was on the news.
The boy who's ill with cancer.
The boy who's a massive Space Heroes fan like he is.
He manages to open the window and slips inside the room.
He has never been inside a hospital like this before, but he must be quick before he is spotted.
He slowly goes over and tucks the comic under the boy's arm.
The boy never stirs in his sleep or wakes up.
He gives the boy a kiss on the forehead and leaves the way he came.
Just as he scales down, he is met by one of his brothers.
He freezes, knowing that he is now in trouble and that his brother will tell Splinter exactly what he did.
But the brother isn't angry and isn't even going to tease him as he expected.
"I had a feeling you would do this," his brother says.
"Are you going to tell Sensei what I did?" he asks.
"No," his brother replies. "I think it's a good thing that you did this for that kid. I think he'll be really happy."
He nods. "So do I," he responds.
The next day the boy is on the news and exclaiming about the comic he received.
His parents are happy and thank the anonymous person who donated the comic to their son.
Splinter comes in and smiles at him. "You did a very good deed, Leonardo," he says.
Leo gapes at him. "How did you know it was me?" he asks.
"I was checking your room to see if it was clean and I noticed it was missing," Splinter replies. "I remember how you were watching the news about the little boy and figured you had donated the comic to him."
"You're not mad at me?" Leo asks him.
"No, I think you did a wonderful deed and I am sure this will brighten the young man's day," he answers. "All good deeds deserve a reward." He reaches into his kimono and pulls out the same issue Leo had just given away and hands it to him.
Leo bows to his father. "Domo arigato, Sensei," he says.
"You are welcome, Leonardo," he says.
Leo goes into his room after the news is over and begins reading the comic again.
And in a hospital bed, a young boy with cancer is also reading the same comic and reads the inscription on the inside title page.
"I hope this comic will brighten your day. Keep on fighting and never give up hope."
A/N: This one was a bit longer than my normal stuff, but there was no way I could just shorten it like a normal drabble. Then again, my earlier drabbles were just as long so I don't think anyone will mind that. This is a sequel to another drabble I wrote and Pheonix09 requested that I do a sequel so I have done so here. I hope you like it. Feel free to leave a review and have a shelltastic day. What sort of good deed have you done for someone else? And which brother caught Leo in the act? Virtual TMNT plushies to whoever guesses it correctly.
