Chapter 61: Monthly

April groaned as another cramp seized her body. She really hated getting her period at the most inopportune times, especially now that she had become a full kunoichi.

"April, are you okay?" Leo asked her.

"I'll be fine," she said. "It's just my period. It'll go away in a couple of days."

"Okay, I so did not need to hear that," Raph groaned.

"You look like you're in a lot of pain, April," Leo commented. "You should sit out today."

"If I sit out, that means I'm weak, and we can't afford that if we're going to defeat Shredder."

"It doesn't mean you're weak, April," Leo said gently. "If you need to sit out, you can."

"I would take this opportunity and run with it, April," Karai advised. "Shredder never let me sit out when I had my period. He always said that pain could be overcome no matter what and he didn't care if I bled all over the dojo floor."

"TMI, Sis," Mikey said, covering his ears.

"Well, it's true," she said.

"Go ahead and sit this one out, April," Leo urged her. "Donnie, get her a hot pack."

April accepted the hot pack with a nod of thanks and sat next to Karai. "I can't wait until I hit the age to have menopause," she said.

Karai giggled. "Me too," she said. "Sometimes being a girl can be such a pain when it comes to this stuff."

"Can we have less giggling from the peanut gallery?" Raph groaned.

April smirked. "Sound like you're having a bad time of the month, Raph," she teased.

Karai laughed. "Yeah, are we sure Raph isn't really a girl?" she added.

"Just wait until you two ladies are better again," Raph threatened. "I'll mop the floor with you."

"Raph, focus," Leo chastised.

April and Karai high fived and continued to watch practice. April really hated her period, but at least she had someone who knew how it felt and she could confide in her whenever she wanted to. And that was all that mattered.
